Went here on a Tuesday night around 7pm for context. Buddy and I walked in and then were told that we could sit anywhere so we told the lady we'd sit outside and she said she'd be right there. Our waitress was amazing -- very sweet, attentive, and professional. She made sure we were taken care of and really added to the experience. Unfortunately, the food itself wasn't the best. I ordered waffles with a side of bacon and berries. The berries were fresh and the bacon was cooked perfectly, but the waffle came out extremely hard -- almost like a plate. My spouse ordered eggs, potatoes, and a side of bacon. He clearly explained how he wanted his order, but it came out with hash browns and bacon instead. Again, the bacon was actually very good, but the rest of the dish missed the mark. One thing I did appreciate is that they are very welcoming to furbabies and even offer a special menu for them, which is a nice touch for pet owners. The FAB is near San Jose State, and it has a little bit of a funky student vibe. The ambience is casual/fun. It's also a bit of a sports bar... several big TVs showing games. Our waitress was really friendly and helpful. We took a little while to decide on our order, because the menu is BIG and eclectic. A lot of Mexican food, but also pizza, pasta, burgers, sandwiches... even mac & cheese. We started with chips, salsa, and guacamole. Really good! The chips were fresh and flavorful. I ordered enchllada. They don't have a bunch of different "type" on the menu. You just tell them what you want in it, and what kind of sauce you want, and they make it. I was surprised at how nice the presentation was. It felt like something you'd get in a very upscale restaurant. And they were delicious. Our waitress laughed about how quickly I cleaned my plate. My fiend order fajitas. The came with a lot of "fixings" - guacamole, crema, cheese, etc. He said they were really good. While we were there, a guy came in with a little dog and sat at the bar. A lot of people seemed to know the dog and came over to pet him. It's that kind of place. I skipped dessert because I was full. With cocktails, starter, entrees and tip our total came to just under $100. A little steep for a student place, but very reasonable for a surprisingly good (and filling) meal. Fab deserves WAY more than a 4.0 rating! I came here with my best friend and we had such an amazing experience. From the moment we arrived, everything was great. The food was absolutely delicious fresh, flavorful, and honestly way better than we expected. Our server, Carmen, was truly outstanding. Avoid this place. By far the worst service I've experienced in a long time. I ordered a simple burrito -- eggs, cheese, potatoes, avocado -- plus a glass of water. The water never came. The burrito took a full 40 minutes, and only showed up after I had to personally track down the manager (the one person there who actually seemed to care). When it arrived, it wasn't even what I ordered -- just eggs, missing half the ingredients. I told the waitress, and instead of fixing it, she was outright rude. We left hungry and frustrated. Seated myself and was given water + cutlery shortly afterwards. It's a nice place to have brunch/lunch and drinks with friends given the friendly staff and constant music playing. The flavorful meat would fall out while folding the taco, but I'm glad because it was so delicious and I wanted more. Loved that the al pastor wasn't dripping with oil. I was also disappointed to see that a 21% gratuity was automatically added to our bill even though the menu states it applies to parties of 6 or more. There were only 5 people in our group. Two groups of young adults were drinking those big ass champagne glasses being extremely loud and obnoxious. Turns out some of these young adults were family members of the employees!! Right before me and my friend finished lunch we noticed one of the employees was actually drinking with the group of kids, got up, and went to serving customers...really not okay. ON TOP OF EVERYTHING one of the groups walked out without paying for something on their tab. The same man who was drinking with the group simply just texted the person who didn't pay. My husband and I tried the Fab for a late lunch, and we both really liked the food! My husband ordered the El Pastor pizza, an eight-inch personal pizza. It turned out to be quite filling as the bread is thick and not like the usual pizza bread, but more of a foccacia bread. Besides the pork, the toppings included beans and onions. I had the veggie super quesadilla, and it was quite good, though a little light on the cheese for my liking. We also got a Caesar salad to share, and it was a little heavily dressed, but pretty good. I ordered a raspberry mini mimosa and my husband had a michelada with shrimp (delicious shrimp). Both drinks were served within minutes of ordering. We also ordered three orders of the chips & trio dips, which the waitress recommended, but they never came out. There was also a mix-up when one of our guests ordered a chicken quesadilla. The waitress misheard and brought out chicken tortilla soup instead. Once the mistake was realized, she asked if we still wanted it, and our group agreed to take it under the impression it wouldn't be charged in addition to the quesadilla. That turned out not to be the case. When I called the next day to clarify, management told me they couldn't refund the $16 item on our $500+ bill since we had eaten it. The food quality was also disappointing. The refried beans and some of the meat in the enchiladas had an off taste. The meat was also extremely chewy and dry. While the manager did try to make amends by offering drinks on a future visit, the number of small but persistent issues: delayed water, missing appetizers, misheard orders, and the final billing problem, left us pretty disappointed overall. read more

I had a horrible experience here June. 4th not only with the service but drinks... I live in SJ and would come to FAB quite often for their huge mimosas and know how they usually look like. I came with 5 of my friends to share the drink since it's huge and when it came it was 1/4 empty and filled with all ice for $50. When we asked the server if she could top it off the rest of the glass and asked why is there so much ice, she explained how instead of two champagne bottles they starting only use one now for the same price. I've bought this drink many times before and the glass has never been that empty and full of ice before. We had to send it back since we didn't think it was worth it and the server was pretty rude about it. We tried making it obvious that we were trying to send it back and she wouldn't come over. We even put it to the side intentionally in hopes she would come. We waited maybe 20-30 mins until we just had to go up the counter and tell her. Also, while we were waiting for the server to come help us she was outside holding a dog and playing with it. When she was done she came over to serve us... Just thought this was strange. I live down the street and need a quick bite before heading out to the bars. I only came here for the intention of eating apps. They have a really big menu! Which is great for a variety of dietary needs and cravings. We got the trio dip and taquitos to share. It was pretty decent! My only meh was how the cheese for the trio dips tasted like stadium cheese. Which isn't a bad thing if you're into that! Other than that, chicken taquitos were crunchy and flavorful!
