Every time I showed up it was closed. Never had their food. Cut to recently and there is now a Colombian food stall! Ironic yes? Now Ill have to tell my Colombian friend this even though they dont live nearby anymore. I will often make a sandwich or pizza run at the building next door but I decided to check out something new. I guess they are open normally on the weekend evenings but I happened upon a lunch special where they were serving Calentado which is rice beans chorizo and a fried egg plus a mixture of coal roasted/barbecued meats called picada. I'd had the picada at Juancho's deep in San Jose a while back so I figured Id do a comparison. Now with Juancho's it's a big restaurant and they have a large grill setup, plus the items are grilled to order as the flow is constant. At Patacom, they only have the one barrel with coals and it's 2 people working so they have to cook and keep it warm, so you dont get the straight off the grill freshness. However the pork and beef were both very well seasoned and had good flavor. I guess it would be best to catch them right at opening. THe meats also come with an arepa topped with cheese, boiled potatoes, yucca and plantains. So it's a pretty hearty meal. Id definitely come back and try some of their regular items at some point, especially if they do the bandeja paisa which seems to be the most widespread item I've seen amongst Colombians. And next time for the picada gotta show up right at opening!

The shrimp and the octopus was perfectly "cooked" in the juice. I felt the white fish could have soaked a little more. But it was great - I loved it. We also ordered El Borracho which is a slightly different take on the standard Arroz con Mariscos. there was an abundance of seafood along with the tasty rice. Lastly we had the standard Lomo Saltado. The beef was very, very tasty and really tender. Overall, it was a fantastic meal. The interior of the restaurant is kind of a standard strip mall restaurant. So don't expect anything fancy. The parking lot was small and full. But street parking was not a problem. However, service was wonderful. For drinks, we only wanted water - our normal. The glass mugs came cold from the fridge with ice cubes. Nice touch. The food did take a long time to come from the kitchen, so that would be my only gripe.

We got a Peruvian style seafood rice (very creamy) , beef heart skewer and temele. I asked for no peas on the rice and they still gave me peas. Beef heart skewer was not on a stick and rather tough even tho it was medium well. The temele was basically all corn dough and 10% chicken. There was only 1 host/server. But food was delicious . Will comeback again.

Great location, interesting menu, and friendly staff!…read more However, we came in around 11am and were the only customers until a big group came arrived. The upstairs was closed, and they were out of chicken (all chicken menu items). The wait time after ordering was pretty long (30+ minutes?) for our food despite being the only ones there when we ordered. Also, on the way to the bathroom there were bags of meat sitting out at room temp lol. The food was ok-- and inexpensive which was good. Again, the server was very friendly and the vibe was good, but probably will not return.

Qué chévere!…read more This spot still serves some Mexican dishes, but now they're also adding Colombian food to the menu, which makes me very happy. I've been here three times already, and honestly, I'm impressed with the quality of the food every single time. First visit: We came for the daily special, which is only $15 USD, a great deal for everything that's included! It came with a soup and a main dish. That day, it was pollo sudado (stewed chicken) served with rice, yucca fries, spaghetti with chicken, and avocado (yes, in Colombia we love carbs!). I believe they offer this deal Monday through Friday. Second visit: I had the arepas, and they were so good! They have different fillings, I went for the Mixta, which comes with everything. Super flavorful, highly recommended! Third visit (this weekend): I came with friends and we ordered a bunch of things to share. We started with the Arepitas de la Casa, deep-fried, slightly sweet arepitas filled with lots of cheese. Delicious and comforting. Then we tried the Patacón, which used sweet plantain as the base and was topped with shredded chicken, beef, chicharrón (pork belly), chorizo, and corn. So good! We also got the Picada, which included llanera-style grilled steak and pork (both super tender), plus potatoes, sweet plantains, and yucca fries. And to top it off, it came with a warm bowl of sancocho, one of Colombia's most traditional soups. Every time I've sat outdoors, and I think the vibe is really nice, a little windy, but perfect for summer days. Service has been great every time, very welcoming, attentive, and friendly. I'm really happy to support this place and can't wait to keep coming back.

The menu is diverse and features many traditional Colombian delights. I tried the Llanero Combo, which included a comforting bowl of beef rib broth with potatoes; delicate, rich, and very pleasing to the palate. I paired it with Colombian coffee, the kind grandma used to make, and a refreshing lulo juice. The main dish was a generous combination of pork, beef, potatoes, yuca, and sweet fried plantains, served with ají and guacamole. Everything was delicious and well prepared. On top of that, the service provided by our server, Esmeralda, was exceptional; attentive, friendly, and always smiling. The atmosphere is cozy, and the Colombian-themed décor and music create a warm ambiance that brings back wonderful memories. Definitely a place worth returning to. Medallo... for sure, my friend. We brought our own cake and happily paid the $25 cake service fee, fully expecting that the staff would take care of presenting and serving it. When we arrived, we handed the cake over to the kitchen staff. However, when it was time for the cake cutting, it was simply brought back to our table still in its original box. We then had to remove it from the box ourselves, arrange and light the candles while our friend awkwardly waited, and afterward chase down staff to ask for plates and utensils so we could cut and serve the cake ourselves. We didn't mind paying the cake fee--we understood there would be a charge. What we didn't understand was what the fee actually covered. We weren't expecting an elaborate presentation, but we did expect the cake to be brought out ready for the celebration and with the basic serving items provided. For what should have been a special milestone moment, the experience felt awkward and underwhelming. It was disappointing, especially since our friend chose this venue to celebrate such an important occasion.
