Vegetarian tacos
Jenna M.

This is my favorite spot for vegetarian tacos in the area. Absolutely delicious! I love the addition of the grilled onions, jalapeno, and radish, which make these veggie tacos stand out above what your average taco truck will give you as a vegetarian option. The parking is easy. There are a few tables, sadly the area used to be filled with tables and had better ambiance, but the food at Cato's is still worth the visit in my opinion. Their burritos and agua frescas are delicious too, you can't go wrong. Great and pretty fast service, too.

I came here with high expectations; however, I'd say the food was "just okay". It' not bad, I just won't have cravings for this place - probably because I prefer my tacos a bit saucier. This food truck has a huge parking lot + seating area, so you can actually enjoy your meal fresh. I forgot what meat I ordered. I just know it's not lengua because they were out of that. The meat was slightly dry. It smelled very good though.

Vegan/veg reviewer: Absolutely amazing! This is a must try food truck- quick service, tasty and fresh. We've tried both the vegetarian options - veggie burrito with everything and veggie Quesadillas. We really like how the food isn't greasy at all (of course the Quesadillas contains more cream and cheese). It's full of stuffings and unlike other places it has a pretty thin layer of the white flour roll- so yea it's so worth it. Very filling and also affordable. They have a good number of parking spots available around the truck so yeah you can easily park there. They have a shaded seating area as well - so it's fine if you wanna eat out there as well. It's an open area - this place might become more happening in the coming months with more lights and other food trucks coming back into action.

Came by the other day and it was a tasty, albeit windy experience! Cato's Tacos is located where the former Central Computers was standing... Parking is plentiful in the private lot. There was a second food truck next door that didn't seem to be in operation. The seating area was pretty messy due to the wind? Ordered the carne asada quesadilla and it was tasty. At $9.5 it made a good snack with juicy bits of beef and cheese along with a slight kick to it. The quesadilla was slightly burnt and the staff seemed to be wearing masks. The food truck takes credit cards although the address on the receipt was slightly different than the actual location of the truck?!?

Lengua taco and cabeza taco

First off, this truck is located in a parking lot with a lot of seating since it looks like it's a parking lot where lots of food trucks come. Nice Tacos are average, nothing special. I got a lengua and cabeza taco, both meats were average, which isn't bad. You have to pay more for the cabeza ($3.25/taco, I believe), so I don't think it's worth the price. I got their special, the Cato Burrito and it comes with both asada and al pastor, jalapeños, and grilled onions on top of your normal "super burrito". This was pretty good! I took out the jalapeños and beans since I don't usually like the taste of them, so I can't comment on how spicy it could've been. Unfortunately, the salsa was also not special. The green was average, not spicy, very normal. The red though, it tastes like tap water so I didn't use it after the one time I tried it. I'd go back solely for the burrito!

Taco Plate

I tried Taco Plate with grilled chicken & al pastor and grilled chicken Tostada. Chicken was dry. Al pastor was ok. The beans had no flavor. Rice was lacking flavor. My wife tried chicken quesadilla and chicken tacos. Her experience is same as mine. Meat was very dry. Overall dull. There were hardly any customers on Tuesday night. This place is not for me. There are much better places around for Mexican food.

Carne and lengua

We came here for the tasty mob market but only found this taco truck and one other food stand. I decided to give this taco truck a try. Ordered: Carne aside taco: 4/5 smelled really good and it was very tasty! Wish I had gotten more. Lengua taco: 3/5 it was good but I preferred the carne. Horchata: 3/5 good, not powdery. Wouldn't mind coming back to try more. Too bad they ran out of tripa. Next time!

Burrito and tacos

Solid tacos every time. They grill their onions, which is a nice touch. Lengua and tripa cost a little extra. I like the tented dining area which makes for a relaxing lunch time hang out.

Tostada (top: chicharrones aka. pork rinds, bottom: lengua aka. beef tongue) (rating: both 1/5)
Lydia L.

1 star for the tostadas, 4 stars for the veggie burrito. First time ordering takeout from here, will never return. Lengua (beef tongue)/Chicharrones (pork rinds) Tostadas - absolutely TRASH, 100% disgusting. The two tostadas were packed onto the same plate. Upon arrival, half of the top tostada was soaked. The bottom one was so soggy that it fell apart into many pieces when picked up. I'm a weird person - I like soggy chips in nachos. Yet I still find this texture extremely disturbing. The texture issue can be blamed as a takeout-specific problem. The rest cannot. Both tostadas were incredibly bland, especially the meat. Neither the lengua nor the chicharrones had ANY flavors. The chicharrones were also completely soaked thus jellylike/squishy. Combined with its bland taste, I'm sure you can imagine how gross that was. Given how bland the tostadas were, I decided to add some salsa - WORST idea! Both red and green salsas provided were disgusting. There were no flavors in either of them, other than pure sourness. They weren't even spicy. These salsas also had weird looks - like colorful mucus collected in sample cups. Ughhh. Veggie burrito - I tried it and wasn't impressed, but partner said it was better than most other veggie burritos he's had in the area. They also didn't give us complimentary salsa & chips as the other Mexican places we've ordered takeouts from in the area. But honestly, that's okay, because I imagine that salsa is also too gross for me to enjoy.

Pastor and lengua
Brandon L.

Good standard taco truck! Definitely doesn't hold a candle to any of the tacos I've eaten down in SoCal, but this place will satisfy your taco cravings. The Al Pastor was tasted like your standard Al Pastor, but didn't stand out. Same with the Lengua. It was stewed down and tender, but nothing notable. I really enjoyed the grilled onions on the dish! I would come back if I was in the area, but I wouldn't drive out of my way here. If you're in the area, stop by. If not, there are definitely other trucks in the Bay Area that are similar in terms of quality and price.

My boyfriend and I had a craving for Mexican food and doordashed Cato's Tacos. It was DELICIOUS. I had the Quesabirria tacos and they were so flavorful and came with a side of dipping sauce. Will def order from them again!

This taco truck is great. The customer service is outstanding, they are super friendly and helpful and talk to their customers like they actually care about our satisfaction, which my boyfriend and I appreciated during our visit. The staff is extremely professional, even clean uniforms and following all COVID health measures. We got cabeza tacos, a cabeza burrito, and a carne asada quesadilla, and all were amazing, and filled with a generous amount of toppings. The quesadilla was saucier than typical quesadillas, like literally liquid on the plate (and I mean saucy, not oily). It's as if the steak was marinated and simmered in a well-seasoned flavorful broth, and covered with melted cheese, with grilled onions. And it was spicy! (without warning)... the only quesadilla I've had that just comes that way off the menu (not a spicy sauce on the side, but actually tiny red pepper flakes/seasoning mixed in with the meat and its juices). It was actually quite unique, and even though it was a bit too spicy for me, I devoured it.. my taste buds wanting more with every bite. There's plenty of parking in the Cala Center lot, in front of Felipe's Market. Overall, a great experience :)

I had a really nice chat with one of the owners there and they all seem like really lovely people--kind hearted with little kids around so hopefully they stay around for some time! They were still redoing the front of house so not sure when they will open fully but looking forward to trying more Azerbaijan food. Since I've never had Azerbaijan food before, I asked for a recommendation and he said all of the food is good but did say that the chicken shawarma was big and I was feeling a bit hungry so went with that. It came with fries and some peppers, which reminded me of banana peppers. Not spicy with a briney taste to it, great accompaniment. He also tossed in this yogurt drink (I didn't get the name) that was tasty. Overall, good food and will be back to try their lamb kebabs and the burger as well and interested to see what their pizzas will be like as well. Btw, it's in a small parking lot next to a restaurant, and you should have parking spots at the back. There always seems to be a decent crowd occupying the tables near the food truck.

The quantities are large and can be easily shared. Now soy chaap is one of the most unhealthy foods one can consume. It's made of processed oils, all purpose flour and bit of soy. But, it's widely consumed by vegetarians these days as an alternative to meat due to its meat like texture. I had some really outstanding soy chaap from a place in Fremont and haven't been able to find anything else that comes close to it. The version here though decent fell short on the flavor. The smoky aftertaste was kind of missing. The chow mein on the other hand was beautifully done. I can see why this place is rated so high.

They have interesting dishes with paneer and chicken as well. We ordered two dishes- Leela lasun keema - This dish was intriguing, with cheese, grated egg, and a rich, spicy gravy. The portion size was generous; a single person won't be able to finish it with just three breads. It was very filling, we took back home the leftover and enjoyed it later with some rotis. They have another version of this- "kachu" with runny eggs instead of grated eggs.. well thought option! Volcano egg biryani- The dish is as interesting as its name suggests. The base is an omelette, and the rice is flavorful with bell peppers, finely chopped veggies, and aromatic spices. The center is with a tomato-based curry. The cheese on the side was amazing, and I loved it. The spicy guava drink is super refreshing with a playful mix of spice, salt, sourness, and the sweetness of guava. I really enjoyed it! They have music playing and the place is lit, creating a total vibe for spending time in the evening on a lazy weekend/ after work, or post-workout.
