For over $10 with taxes, this was already pricier than better Vada Pavs you can get at places like Elco Drive, and yet it offered nothing exceptional. Frankie: This one made me genuinely angry. It was a soggy maida roll stuffed with the same aloo masala from the Vada Pav, plus a few sad shreds of cabbage. That's it. And they had the audacity to charge $12 for it. ($1.50 for cheese, lol I am glad we didn't add)This isn't a Frankie -- it's a lazy repackaged Vada Pav with no flavor or creativity. They threw in some pickled jalapeños on the side, which only added confusion. If you're running a fusion menu(well partially), at least mention it upfront instead of misleading customers. Egg Shalimar Mughlai: At $13, it was passable but still not impressive. The bun on the side was not toasted or anything. Better than the Frankie, but nothing I'd recommend or return for. I was so excited for trying this place but, overall, this place is overpriced, underwhelming, and frankly disappointing. If your Vada Pav and Frankie are practically identical, maybe inform customers before they order both. I wouldn't recommend Maya Kitchen -- save your time, appetite and money and go somewhere else. We ordered some samosas, egg fried rice and spicy tofu with vegetables. The owner gave us some hot 'welcome' tea while we waited for our food. It was cold and the tea ( chai?) was very much appreciated. The food was well packaged and portion size was good. Food was delicious. Loved the tofu ! He also gave us some extra spicy sauce to try! I've also tried both the Chowmein and the Gobi Manchurian from here at a friend's place and I recommend them. I remember the Gobi Manchurian to be a good balance of spice and sweet and crispy. Last time we dined here, our overall impression was - a food truck with a lot of heart. Great attention to detail in presentation, menu curation, quick, friendly service, and clean as a whistle. This time we tried their Peri Peri Egg sandwich, Chicken Kheema Pav, and Egg Pulav. All of these items were great. The Peri Peri Egg sandwich tastes like a good old Egg Salad sandwich went to India on a tourist visa and decided to stay there for good LOL. The bell peppers and the peri peri spice along with the mayo give it a unique taste. The egg pulao was fantastic - street style pulav (tawa pulao) with protein - can't complain. The kheema pav is stand-out. Minced chicken in a dryish curry that you have with bread. I'll go ahead and say it's one of the best chicken kheema pav I've had in the Bay Area. Definitely recommend this place. If you want to get a taste of some unique Indian street style food - popular in Indian cities like Surat and Mumbai, look no further than Eggmania!
