Great little mom & pop restaurant in Sunnyvale on Murphy Street. As the street is closed to cars, they have patio dinning as well as inside the restaurant. The food is delicious here! The staff is friendly & we even met & chatted with the owner Roberto himself! I had the one item plate with a chicken mole enchilada, rice & beans. You can get pinto, black or refried. The mole is the best I have had! We even asked for a side of the sauce & dumped it on our rice. My friend got a michelada. Loved it! The bartender even gave her a cuo of the mix to go so she coukd make one at home! Definitely will be back!

Roberto's Cantina is a local favorite here in Sunnyvale downtown. I've been here before and was impressed, so when a friend suggested we go here for a nice Sunday lunch, I didn't hesitate. The whole experience feels like you are dining at someone's home. Pretty good seating outside, and the service is always warm, friendly, and fast. We ordered fish tacos and the Al Chipotle Shrimp. Both were delicious. Their corn tortillas were soft and fresh. And of course, there are chips and salsa for each table on the house. Their hot salsa is legit spicy. We also had the House margarita pitcher. It serves about four people and was refreshingly good. We ended the meal with their flan - it was the bomb! Fresh, creamy, almost cheesecake-like texture - we loved it so much, we ordered seconds. The owner, Roberto, is a nice guy. He came to our table a few times to check on us. He's created a place that serves the community with love and warmth. You know that this place has been around for years and is hopefully here to stay. Highly recommend!

This place has decent mexican food. I got the shrimp fajitas. I think flavor profile wise everything is well seasoned. My only complaint is that my shrimp to veggie ratio was pretty bad and I wish I got more shrimp. Beans and rice were great.

3.5 stars. Sangria was great, solid 4 stars. We had the Apollo Al xocoqui and carnitas. The corn tortillas were delicious, the Apollo AI xocoqui was pretty good but the carnitas was quite dry. The seasoning was on point but it felt like it has been refrigerated for a few days and reheated.

Good drinks. Friendly staff. Good environment to hangout. We only had drinks, so no comments on food.

Very disappointed with their carnitas. They were super dry. (See photo) We ordered take out and I was really surprised this was served as it looks like it had been sitting out for a while. My dish was just ok. I heard good things but I was pretty disappointed. The place was packed so I thought it would be good. The staff was nice. But I was surprised this was served. The dish was take out and we took it home right away still piping hot, but this was a surprise.

Great service and lively dinner spot! Love that they had soccer games playing on the TVs as well. They give complimentary chips and salsa, I really enjoyed the green! It was super refreshing and had lots of good flavor. I tried the birria de res. The meat was super tender and they were not stingy with the portion at all. The broth was also really tasty and I liked the side of rice/beans/tortillas it came with too. Everything was well seasoned and flavorful. I also really enjoyed their frozen strawberry margarita. It especially hit on the super hot day. Overall, no complaints about this place!

10/10 customer service from the manager. I love how he brought me some special made food when I peeped that HIS plate looked good. And oh my goodness it's pork ribs with salsa verde on a homemade tortilla!!! Yum!!!! I'm a big enchilada fan but wasn't a fan of the sauce. I forget the name of the chipotle steak but I should've honestly got chile verde. But all in all I did enjoy the rice and beans-- their salsas are spicy!! I went during lunch and was honestly really filling!! Please add that special dish to the menu, was really my favorite

The food was a little underwhelming. I've had a la Diabla (shrimp dish in red sauce) from other places but this one was a bit on the tangier side. Still good. Also got the bacon wrapped scallops which were interesting but still good. Sat outside which was a great choice given the warm nights and having a clarinetist playing across from us.

Low key place, friendly service. On some nights there's dancing after closing. Good deal on patron margaritas. The sangria is not bad.

My sister tried the al pastor soft tacos and carne asada soft tacos and really enjoyed them. I tried the fish soft tacos and shrimp soft tacos. The tacos are kind of bigger than we anticipated, which was a very pleasant finding, and we were full after having 2~~ The fish taco was good! The fish is well seasoned and moist! I had high hopes for the shrimp tacos but they were not as moist as I was hoping for so I was a bit bummed. I'd give them another chance though. I tried my mom's shrimp burrito (no beans) and thought it was also quite good! Very tasty, well-seasoned, and moist. Also, if you are a super spice lover, I'd give their orange sauce a try! You could stumble upon it through Yelp (as we did), discover it while staying at the adjacent Treehouse Hotel, or simply hear about it through word of mouth. The parking situation is an interesting one. After turning into the driveway from Mathilda Avenue, you have two options: turn right for valet parking or left into the Google parking lot. There are plenty of spaces available, though parking there is technically at your own risk. The restaurant told us they had not heard of anyone being ticketed or towed. We first dined here shortly after it opened in 2025 and were immediately impressed by the beautiful grounds. The hotel's eco-conscious gift shop, housed in a glass greenhouse and featuring a colorful vintage VW Bug, is a charming touch. The short walk to the restaurant feels especially relaxing on a warm, sunny day. This has become one of our favorite places to bring friends or host girls' lunches. With three distinct seating options: the dining room, bar, and patio, there's an atmosphere to suit just about any occasion, whether you're dining as a couple or gathering with a larger group. I would recommend visiting during lunch or dinner service and skipping the in-between hours. During that time, only the bar area is open and the menu is more limited. To fully experience what Valley Goat has to offer, lunch or dinner is the way to go. Despite the name, the only goat dish on the menu at the time of this review is the Goat Empanadas. My friend was initially hesitant to order them, but David, our wonderful server, and I encouraged her to give them a try. She was glad she did. There was no gamey flavor whatsoever; the meat tasted more like beef, and the accompanying sauce was excellent. Over several visits, we've enjoyed everything we've ordered and are delighted to have a restaurant of this caliber in our Bay Area backyard. Chef and co-owner Stephanie Izard, winner of Season 4 of Top Chef and an Iron Chef title, owns a total of nine restaurants, primarily in the Chicago area, along with locations in Los Angeles and one at Orlando International Airport. Since we enjoy traveling for great food, we'll definitely be adding some of her other restaurants to our list.

The service was quite slow throughout the evening. We ordered the goat empanadas, wood-fired Mary's chicken, sprouted cauliflower, eggplant, and sticky pork shank. What surprised me most was how similar everything tasted. From the appetizers to the main dishes, the flavors seemed repetitive and lacked distinction. Each dish looked appealing, but none really stood out. Overall, the food felt uninspired, and I didn't get the sense that much care had gone into developing unique flavors for the menu. Given the many 5-star reviews, I was expecting much more and left feeling disappointed. The ambiance is lovely, but I would not return for the food. Don't be misled by the photos, they were far more impressive than the actual dining experience.
