I was in the area and decided to come here. Overall this was below average for the items I tried out. Also Chase visa card failed to work here both directly and via Apple pay. Ordered below: 2/5 dahi batata sev puri - this was very cold dahi mixed with spices. It was on sweeter side which overpowered the taste. 1/5 dabeli - totally disappointing. The masala lacks punch and is missing the spiciness you would expect to complement the sweet. It's below average at best. 4/5 aloo tikki chaat - this was decent and the only thing I liked here. The tikki was crispy n hot and paired well with the flavorful chole. You can get this but skip other things. Will likely not recommend place. read more

Do not go here !!! They are scamming people !!! Just heating ready-made frozen foods. Aloo tikki chaat, gave only a few small pieces, not even 2 tikkis in it, adding lil bit chhole and giving it for $10. read more

Tried out Chaat on Wheels for the first time and wow...I've never felt so unprepared for a menu. I couldn't pronounce half the items, but luckily, the man working came to my rescue and recommended the Dahi Batata Sev Puri, and it was SO GOOD! It's saucy, flavorful, and a textural adventure. Just make sure to eat it right away, because if you wait too long, the shells will become soggy and you'll lose the crunch. Definitely not a takeout item. For something I could save for later, they suggested the Kulche Chole. I had never heard of it before, but let's just say I'm a fan now. I loved the multiple pickled thai chilis on the side too. Also, shoutout to their Chai, which comes unsweetened. Bless them for that. It's the perfect little pick-me-up without the sugar crash. I'll definitely be coming back to work my way through the rest of the menu...once I learn how to pronounce it. read more

We tried the samosa chat, Dahi batata puri, and Szechwan vada pav. All of the things were outstanding but especially the vada pav. The sauce is made in house and is truly mouthwatering. We ended up getting two more to go. The owner is also so sweet and kind. Great service, amazing food. Can't wait to go back! read more

Chaat on Wheels is SO good. The food tastes incredibly authentic and you can tell it's made with care and real flavor. Everything we tried was fresh, perfectly spiced, and seriously satisfying. The service was also super friendly and welcoming, which made the whole experience even better. This is a decent truck for some vegetarian Indian street food . Tried Stuffed Kulcha - Indian style bread ( similar to a Pita bread ) ,stuffed with a savory mix of garbanzo beans and potatoes. The stuffing wasn't seasoned well and kind of bland Dabeli - Savory mashed potatoes with spiced peanuts and gram flour crisps , served between bread. Visited this place twice for some evening snacks. Got a dabeli and a vada pav. Both come with side of chopped onions and spiced peanuts. Vada Pav comes with sweet and tangy and a spicy chuntey, but I asked tor no chutney. It tasted great, so close to mumbai vadapav. If you have been craving for mumbai vada pav this is your place. The only problem i had was with the pav, it was too too dry! Dabeli was great, the mix inside was delicious. The pav didn't feel that dry because they toast it in a little butter. There was no pomegranate which is generally added to mumbai dabeli. But they did add kishmish to it instead which was weirdly nice. The time of this place is not updated on google. OMG, where do I even begin? I stumbled upon Chaat on Wheels while looking for some snacks for a small evening party, and behold, Uncle Ji came to the rescue! I ordered samosas, sandwiches, aloo tikki chaat, and on his recommendation, the papri chaat. Everything was absolutely delicious! he really knocked it out of the park. Even though it was a takeout order, he took great care to pack everything so it wouldn't get soggy and stayed fresh. I'm genuinely so impressed -- not just by the amazing food, but also by his warmth and kindness. God bless Uncle Ji, and I truly hope his business thrives! read more

Best vegetarian food truck in bay area in recent times! The owners are super friendly and always remember you when you show up :) Food is freshly prepared with no frozen ingredients and you can tell it when you taste it. Delicious bite after a long day. My fiancé and I tried the veggie sandwich and an order of the Bombay Vada Pav. Both winners. The veggie sandwich was light and crispy and the vada pav had a nice smokiness to it. The gentleman who helped us was very friendly as well. Oh! Get the masala chai too. First time trying this food truck. Everything we tried was absolutely delightful. Dahi batata sev puri, vada pav, dhabeli, paneer sandwich, mango lassi, samosa chaat, mocha shake, Kulcha chole etc. absolutely mouth watering food. I wish the location was in not such busy spot. There's a constant stream of busy traffic right by Lawrence and the gas station. If you are a family with kids, this is one of those places where you need to watch them like hawks. read more

Stopped for a quick chai + chaat drive-by while in the area. Yummy & crissspyyy aloo tikkis in a tangy channa base & a very good elaichi chai. It's a food truck in the gas station area run by a lovely couple and apparently very famous in the neighbourhood. Great food and wonderful service!! We ordered Samosa chaat and Punjabi stuffed kulcha. Punjabi stuffed kulcha is a must try, it was super soft and had super simple ingredients without a lot of spice and just melted in the mouth. Samosa chaat was great too! Crispy samosas and perfectly spicy chole. Loved their elaichi chai. It was super good! Highly recommend. What most BayArea chaat places lack is warm welcome from the owners. Come here to speak to the delightful uncle. I loved dahi batata sab puri. Perfect crunch and balance of flavors . The best I have had in Bay Area! Second favorite is aloo tiki chaat. The cholle kulcha was average. There is a single table with 3 chairs to sit in front of the food truck. It tends to get super windy, so seating options are not the best. read more

My friend and I were excited to try Chaat on Wheels after seeing all the positive Yelp reviews, but unfortunately, our experience didn't live up to the hype. In fact, the lower-rated 3- and 1-star reviews turned out to be more in line with what we encountered. We ordered Cold Coffee, Dahi Puri, and Stuffed Kulcha--but sadly, none of the items were enjoyable, and we ended up throwing everything away. The flavors were off, and the overall quality just didn't meet expectations. That said, the owner was very kind and welcoming, which is why I'm giving this place two stars instead of one. I truly hope they consider revising their recipes or making some improvements, because the potential is there--but the food needs serious work. read more

Tried their Dabeli & Pani Puri. Dabeli was delicious and made with a lot of love, while I do think the bread/bun could be of better quality. Pani Puri Pani was Tamarind/Jal jeera heavy and was missing the mint/cilantro water element, but the owner recommended asking for mint chutney next time. Owners (Indian Uncle & Aunty) are super sweet and were willing to serve us food despite being past closing hours. Looking forward to trying their Dahi Batata Sev Puri and Vada Pav next time. read more

On the day of the event, they came on time to set up before the planned lunch time. What an amazing place. Stumbled upon it by chance and it's an absolute gem for chaat items. The food truck is inside a gas station with plenty of parking and nearby EV charging. I loved their veg sandwich. It was warm, and filled with goodness of vegetables. Samosa chaat was excellent too. And the masala chai to top it off at the end was heaven. When we arrived, the place was empty, but it began to fill up after we were seated. A kind young man showed us to a table and brought us menus and some water. It's beautiful inside. It's a long and narrow space and they have plenty of seating options for small and large groups. The chairs are covered in soft colorful velvet. They were very comfortable to sit in. There is a beautiful painting of a young woman wearing traditional clothing. There is a full bar with seating at the counter. The chandeliers are gorgeous and I loved the colorful umbrellas hanging upside down from the ceiling. Our waiter, Shreeshant, was beyond friendly. He was so kind and attentive to our needs. He gave us some recommendations for appetizers, which I really appreciated. We ordered the Chicken Tandoori Momo's (6 per order), per his recommendation. We also ordered the veggie samosas (2 per order). For our mains we ordered the Dum Biryani with shrimp, chicken korma, eggplant curry and butter naan. I really loved that you can customize your heat level with all the main dishes. We ordered all our dishes mild spice. First to come out was the Chicken Tandoori Momos and the veggie samosa. The momos came out sizzling on a cast iron skillet with onions and peppers underneath them. These came with a mild sauce to accompany them. The samosas came with three different sauces. The sauces were tamarind, mint and a spicy sauce. My favorite was the chicken momos. They were so flavorful from the inside to the outside. The eggplant curry was the most mild out of all the dishes. There were three cooked baby eggplants in a coconut curry sauce. I would say the sauce had more of a coconut flavor that stood out. It was a good portion of meat and the flavor was nice. I asked for spicy and it was hot pretty hot for me. Medium next time. I would have liked more gravy or for it to be less thick. We got an order of the pan fried chicken momos. It reminded me of pot stickers, including the wrapper. I preferred something a bit more traditional with a thicker dumpling style wrapper.

The garlic naan didn't have fresh garlic, it seemed to be the pre-minced garlic preserved in lemon juice that you can buy in bulk, and it was burnt on top of the bread. I'm thinking they take frozen naan, spread the preserved minced garlic on top, and throw it on a grill to char it. The flavor of the curries was good, but they were extremely greasy. So greasy that when I tried to scoop some up with the naan, it all slipped off and just left the grease on the bread lol. The paneer pakora was pretty good, crispy, and came with a delicious sauce (a chutney of some sort I think). The mix pakora was soggy and flavorless, and we ended up throwing it out. The price for food at this place is on par with or more expensive than other similar restaurants in the area, but the food quality is poor. Hopefully they improve, but for now I'd say skip it.
