It was my first time ever going to sweetgreen! I always thought it was just a glorified salad place but I was totally wrong.. I ordered the Caramelized garlic steak bowl and it was pretty yummy! Looking to refuel after a run on a Saturday morning, I wanted some healthy protein and sustenance. The carmelized garlic steak was so TASTY! When picking what I wanted, I was sold because the bowl also had sweet potatoes with the steak. The combo is unmatched and the pesto vinaigrette was the cherry on top. Also, the menu says it contains "spicy broccoli", but its not spicy at all (heat-wise). If anything, the flavors of the bowl masked the broccoli. (Make sure to ask for the free slice of bread, it was so good!!) It is like a chipotle version of a salad/protein bowl assembly line. So, as long as they had all the ingredients for your bowl, the wait was pretty quick. They had quite a good amount of indoor and outdoor seating on Castro St. Water was available on the side, so you don't have to actually buy their fancy, canned water. And on a side note, their bathrooms were super clean, which is always a big plus! It was a solid first experience! read more

I loved this place for a long time. I've been a regular for years and have eaten a ton of salads here. But things have slipped. It started with the app. I'd order, get a notification that my order was complete (not an estimated time, but a specific your order is completed notification, and find nothing on the shelf. Then I'd wait several more minutes, well past the time the app said it was done, while none of the employees would make eye contact. It happened enough times that I gave up on ordering online and picking up in person and switched to delivery, even though it costs more, just to avoid standing around wondering if my salad was ever coming. Then today my vegetarian salad had a piece of steak in it. I didn't realize until I was mid-chew (it must have gotten mixed in with the mushrooms). I've been a vegetarian for years, so this was genuinely upsetting. To their credit, customer service through the app was helpful and gave me a refund plus a credit. But I think I'm done. Mountain View Sweetgreen just isn't what it used to be. The staff don't seem happy to be there, and the care that used to go into getting orders right and treating customers well doesn't seem to be there anymore either. Glad I finally came around to try out Sweet greens. I liked the options they had for the salad with the roasted sweet potatoes and broccoli which had nice charred flavor. The kale was chopped up into small pieces which was easy to chew. I enjoyed their sauces too which included some pretty unique flavors. I did ask to replace lettuce with the lettuce with arugula and, I asked to mix the grain bowl with the dressing- pesto & balsamic. They must have added too much dressing or added salt. It was too salty for my taste- Next time, be sure to be easy on salt or don't mix-in the dressing but put them in side. All of the flavors complemented each other well and the bowl was very filling. Sweetgreen is my favorite salad bar that makes me feel full and healthy. The flavor was good but it got soggy at the end. The bread was also a bit hard. I really liked chicken and goat cheese though. They went together perfectly. Tap to pay is accepted. Geez sweetgreen, the service has gotten worst from last time. I did mobile order (btw- if you purchase 2 transactions before 11/20, you get $7 off your next salad). Then when I picked up my salad, I realized I forgot to add 2 salad dressing containers. I went to the cashier and told them I accidentally forgot to order 2 salad dressings and was it possible to get one more. The cashier had a "mean mug" on her and said, "Well it shows you only ordered one salad dressing, but ok (sigh), I'll get you one more." Like geez, it isn't what you say, it is also about how you say things to people. I can tell it might not be a "me" thing. The workers look disgruntle and not happy. While it was delicious (especially since it comes with half an avocado) I think the shroomami salad was even better. The most important item to top it off was their miso sesame ginger dressing. They packed three containers and it may had looked like it wasn't enough but it was plenty o' good. The every fresh crunch and robust flavors of wild rice, mushrooms and tofu was getting me so excited as I put it in my mouth. Like I couldn't stop eating while I was halfway stuffed. Even my own sales I make aren't this good. Lol. The second time, I decided to try something different so I ordered the super green goddess. It was kale, raw beets, sweet potato, lentils, chickpeas, cabbage, spicy broccoli, almonds and baby spinach. Green goddess ranch for the dressing. The dressing didn't do justice for me. The salad was pretty dry. Thought going all green and raw would lift my face. It wasn't the one. I took a few bites and ended it there. The combination sounds good but it wasn't to my liking. I ordered the chicken pesto with tomatoes, shaved parmesan, quinoa. I substituted my leafy green for arugala. My order was ready on time. There is a pick up area right when you enter the restaurant. My only thing is my order was not bagged. In Covid times, I would appreciate a bag. I know my one coworker bought one salad as well and she got a bag. So one star off for that. There are people I am sure who pick up and do not santize their hands, touching other people's orders. I do not appreciate that. I am not sure why they can't keep the food behind the counter and have an employee hand the orders over. Back to the food. My salad was really good. I couldn't finish it all. I had a great experience as my first time at sweetgreen. I heard about this salad place for quite a while and was excited to give it a try. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable about the menu when I asked a few questions and for some recommendations. I decided to go with their Chicken Pesto Parm, which is a part of their warm bowl selections. The staff member helping me was really nice and asked if I wanted to keep the hot and cold items separate so the salad wouldn't wilt. He also asked me if I wanted my dressings separate, which I also appreciate to prevent sogginess. Before paying, I also got a side of their focaccia bread. I was very impressed with the freshness and blend of the salad. It was very crunchy and flavorful, and all the ingredients meshed well together. I loved every second of the experience and will definitely order this again in the future. The focaccia tasted a little stale, so I'll probably toast it up in the oven next time and add some butter. I'm such a fan of the sweetgreen offering and how flavorful and delicious their food is, especially considering how healthy it all is. I've gotten the Harvest Bowl Once and Curry Chickpea bowl twice now and it's all been delicious. For those who have never been, this place is like a Chipotle for salads. During my most recent visit, I decided to try their house drinks instead of my usual water. I poured some of their spiced cider and then tasted some of the lemon fresca and was a fan of neither, so I won't be getting drinks there again. Sticking to the delicious bowls. I do have to say though, for what you get, the price is a little on the high side, so I guess you're paying extra for the freshness and local produce. Sweetgreen is a decent salad restaurant. They take pride in the freshness of their veggies and fruits and have a window where you can watch them strip, wash, and prep ingredients. The venue is clean and tidy overall. Staff seemed kinda unsure of their own menu and weren't particularly good at answering questions regarding menu items; so it'd be nice for them to become a bit more familiar with their offerings so they can better help customers. For example, I asked how much burrata cost for a DIY salad since it wasn't on the paper taped to the window, and the girl just kept waving and saying I could add cheese at the end of the line. Not really answering my question :/ She also didn't know what many of the ingredients were either, so wasn't able to answer when I asked what X or Y ingredient in front of her was since I wasn't sure. Sweetgreen could do a bit better in training its employees. DIY Salad || $8.50 base + any premium item pricing Choose from a variety of salad greens, rice, or quinoa for your base, 4 toppings, and a dressing. You can also add premium items for additional fees. I decided to go with mixed greens + quinoa, rainbow beets (yum), sweet corn, cucumbers, apples, walnuts, and a lemon juice + olive oil drizzle. The shiitake mushroom mix (+$2) is pretty flavorful. The burrata (+$2.50) is bland and probably would taste better warmed up. The free bread is also on the oilier side. If you want a piece of two, you can ask for some right before you get salad dressings and pay. My bowl of salad ended up costing ~$14, which I think is pretty hefty for just a single bowl. It was tasty given that I got to choose ingredients I thought I'd enjoy, but not quite worth $14 imo. I'm not a fan of their take-out bowl design either. The concave up lids dip down into the bowl. As a result, the lid squishes down on your salad, making everything compressed and mushed up :( I personally would like room for my salad to breathe and not get all smashed up. The compressed lid decreases the amount of area the bowl has to even contain food. This just makes it look like they promote giving less food, which makes them look stingy -- which I don't think is the message they want to get across to customers. read more
