    Greek salad with chicken
    Sonia S.

I frequent downtown Los Altos and always make it a point to stop by Cafe Nur. Their food is delicious, staff is kind and their prices are reasonable given the quality of their food. Today I ordered their Greek salad with chicken. The chicken was so moist and flavorful and the salad had romaine lettuce, diced cucumber, tomato, olives, feta and the most delicious green dressing. It was accompanied by pita and a piece of watermelon which was such a nice surprise. I also had tea as I waited, it had a beautiful aroma and was very smooth with a slight herbal flavor. I came here at 12:30 and was able to get my food in about 10 minutes. They are always quick which is great especially during lunch time. The restaurant is beautifully decorated and has the option for outside dining. Give Cafe Nur a try on your next trip to downtown Los Altos, they are worth the visit.

Living close by and not sure why we haven't been here before!! Amazing Turkish food in a beautiful setting. It is supposed to be casual dining and the setting, good and presentation stands out as more!!! We opted for the special of the day lamb and kofte platter and sat outside on a beautiful Friday evening and excited that downtown Los Altos had the Friday night buzz with many diners out!! The food was prepared in a timely manner, the presentation was beautiful (see pictures), and the taste was amazing. Not sure why some reviewers complained about the meat not being juicy, both the kofte and lamb were full of flavor and juicy!! The sides of babaganush and hummus was amazing as well. Wish we could have tried the desserts. Maybe next time... BTW, was tempted to try the Turkish breakfast for dinner and decided to go back for breakfast once...

    Yummy Mediterranean Food for lunch!

My girl and I are in the Bay Area frequently. We have been exploring the different Main Streets in the cities of the peninsula. We landed in Los Altos Friday afternoon. What a charming district. We love to Thrift so the Discovery store was our first stop. Then we realized we were famished and we strolled across the street based on the recommendation of the lady behind the counter at the Discovery store! Cafe Nur was deserted at 1:30 in the afternoon. We both ordered the lamb and beef gyros, I had the plate she got the wrap. I also got us an order of the baklava (2 pieces). My lunch was spectacular. The meat was a perfect portion of well seasoned, tender meat, with a glorious salad and the rice pilaf was delicious! The wrap was the exact same ingredients, but was a tender envelope of soft flat bread. The baklava was stuffed with pistachio perfection, crispy and sweet. The small cups of hot tea were a dreamy accompaniment. The flavors were so authentic, the service was fast and efficient! We sat on the patio and enjoyed a beautiful afternoon! We like Los Altos very much. I think we may make this a regular stop on our way to Half Moon Bay!

My good friend and I come here monthly for our catch up days. He's a vegetarian and still manages to find the food super tasty. The people who work here are very kind and brought us tea to enjoy with our dessert. Ask for extra olives. They make everything taste better!

    10/10 shakshuka

The most kind staff. Went over the top to accommodate and make this a special experience. I have been here for dinner multiple times and the food has always been a 10/10. Just enjoyed brunch for the first time and it was the best shakshuka I have ever had! Must try!!

    Turkish Breakfast!!

Great service and I like the decor as well. Now for the food - we had breakfast here and it did not disappoint! The eggs had very good spices to it. The pita bread was OK but the rest of the food made up for it. Meat is halal. .- Try it out ! We had the Turkish breakfast for two - which was also reasonably priced!

Hummus appetizer, salmon, entrée with salad and rice and complementary Turkish tea
    Christina B.

Finally had an opportunity to stop in for a late lunch. Was pleasantly surprised how fresh and flavorful the food was. I had the salmon entrée with a wonderful salad, very fresh wonderful dressing and the hummus appetizer and then they brought out a complementary Turkish tea. Would definitely come back again.

    Chicken gyro plate

When it comes to Mediterranean food, I usually play it 'safe' and stick with chicken or beef plates/wraps. I decided to try the chicken gryo plate and it did not disappoint. Everything was super fresh and tasty, but wasn't a huge fan of the pita breads or the sauce/hot sauce given with the orders. Not that those things will keep me from coming back in the future, but I have had other places, that in my opinion have better pita bread. The rice was super good and not at all dry. Nice and fluffy, almost buttery. The chicken was seasoned and marinated well and not a dry piece on the plate. Salad was super fresh and tasty as well! In the heart of downtown Los Altos with a bunch of other delicious spots to try. If you are close by, check them out!

While in the Los Altos downtown, we were looking for a spot to eat and found this on Yelp. It was a nice find. We enjoyed the food on the hot day and sat outside under the umbrellas on the benches. I ordered a greek salad with chicken and it was very good and fresh. It came with few pieces of bread on the side. The service was great. I would recommend!

Servers were extremely welcoming and patient with us. Food was delicious! The hummus sampler was great! Our favorite was the one on the right, tasted very garlicky! There is a large parking lot in front that is shared with other businesses in that shopping center. We were warmly greeted when we walked in and were shown to a lovely table. It's got a very classy vibe inside with beautiful artificial floral trees and artwork on the walls. The menu has a nice variety of food. We decided to try the Kashke Bademjan, for our appetizer. This is an eggplant puree with caramelized onions, tahini sauce and mint. It is served warm with fresh pita bread. For our mains we ordered a Greek salad to share, the filet mignon kabob plate and the filet mignon & chicken combination plate. Our appetizer came out first. The Kashke Bademjan arrived warm with piping hot pita bread. There was also a small tray of hummus on the platter. The Kashke Bademjan had such a wonderful flavor. It was warm and comforting. I highly recommend trying this. The hummus was nice. The bread was fresh and hot...so delicious with both dips. Our salad and entrees came out next. The food was served on these circular large metal platters. I couldn't believe how big the portions were and how beautifully the dishes were presented. The Greek salad was also huge. The filet mignon kabobs were delicious, moist and so flavorful. I chose the whir me for the chicken and it was perfectly moist and bursting with flavor. Both my husband and I enjoyed it. Each plate came with basmati saffron rice with a grilled tomato and salad. The rice was fluffy, moist and flavorful. Very fresh and hot. The salad was a nice touch and the grilled tomato was so juicy. There was so much food that we didn't even touch the Greek salad. We ended up with a lot of leftovers, which we didn't mind. I could tell this was a family run business. So much love and detail was put in to each item we ordered. We had excellent customer service. Towards the end of our meal, the owner (the matriarch of the family) came by to ask how are food was. She was so sweet and hospitable. I really loved that. I noticed she went to every single table and checked on everyone. We will definitely be returning, especially for the Kashke Bademjan. I also look forward to trying their other Persian specialties.

I originally booked for 8 people online, which was accepted, but I had one more person join last minute so I called the morning of to adjust it. The person on the phone replied with, "well I guess we don't have a choice" in which I responded with just, "ok". One person ended up canceling last minute which brought my party back down to 8 so I did let the host know prior to me being seated which didn't end up being a problem. I ordered apps for the table as my party began to arrive and while we waited for the last two people. One person didn't and up coming and one other was running so far behind that this person who I suspect was the owner was pacing back and forth stating he needed the table back if they're not going to show. I assured him they were still but it's very rude to say that in front of my entire party and loud enough for everyone around us to hear it. The most senior person in my group even stated how rude that was. It was so embarrassing! I was out calling the person and they finally showed up and I went back out to talk to the gentleman who was telling us he needed the table back and told him that 1 of 2 people showed up and asked him nicely to not take the table and to stop saying he would in front of our party. He told me he wouldn't as it's too late now that they arrived. I have never had this experience anywhere I've dined at before and it's very unprofessional. Though the food and the other staff were great, I unfortunately won't be recommending this restaurant to anyone. If you do decide to dine here, I hope you never encounter a similar experience.
