Meyhouse has been on my bookmarks for a while now and in dt Sunnyvale! My friend and I sat down for an earlyish dinner around five. We looked over our menu and had a hard time pronouncing and figuring out what to eat. Our server was so patient with us and explained the entire menu, also told us that he is Turkish and showed us how to pronounce some of the names and letters After much thought, we ordered the acili muhammara (peppers and walnut dip with pomegranate molasses) , Uc Borek (phyllo rolls with 3 type of fillings), and the adana platter (lamb skewer with sides). The bread basket that came with the pepper and pomegranate molasses dip very good, and it was a great start. The pomegranate gave it a hint of sweetness which balanced the heavier pepper flavor The uc boreks were flaky and crispy, and came out hot af. loved the zucchini and cheese filling! The lamb was full of flavor and came with rice and a Greek salad. That being said, the flatbread had a lot of oil, since the skewer was placed on top. The lamb itself was soft and had no gamey taste. The greek salad complimented and contrasted the heavy and rich tastes. We also ordered the pistachio kunefe and ice cream for dessert. The texture of the kunefe was delicious! Meyhouse Sunnyvale -- Excellent Food, but the Service Pacing Could Be Much Better I tried the $44.95 three-course prix fixe lunch and chose the Köpoğlu as my meze, upgraded the main to the Adana Kebab for $3, and added the Künefe for $2. The food was the strongest part of the experience, and several things stood out more than I expected. The complimentary bread was excellent--warm, fragrant, and nicely textured. I also really enjoyed the green herb sauce served with it. The parsley and mint flavors were quite pronounced, almost grassy, but in a good way. It was fresh and aromatic and worked very well with the bread. The Köpoğlu was one of the highlights of the meal. The roasted eggplant, tomato sauce, garlic yogurt, and olive oil were very well balanced. I especially liked the garlic yogurt--the acidity, garlic, and creaminess were all present without any one element overpowering the others. The tomato added sweetness and acidity, while the olive oil rounded everything out. It was especially good with the bread. The Adana Kebab was also very good. My first bite came from the end of the skewer and was slightly dry, but once I got into the center, the meat was noticeably juicier. The char from the grill was excellent, and the lamb had a clear lamb flavor without being gamey. The chopped red pepper mixed into the meat also added another layer of aroma and flavor. Even the rice surprised me. It looked like plain white rice, but it was flavorful enough to eat on its own, with a noticeable buttery, almost milky aroma. The flatbread underneath the kebab was also very good after soaking up some of the lamb juices and fat. If I had one criticism of the main plate itself, it would be the proportion of onion-tomato salad to meat. The salad tasted fine, but for my preference, there was a little too much of it. I really enjoy the lingering flavor of grilled lamb, and while the rice and bread help carry that flavor, the raw onion and tomato act as a strong palate cleanser and erase it quickly. Since the meat portion was relatively small compared with the rice and salad, I would personally prefer a little more kebab and a little less salad. The Künefe was another highlight. I really enjoyed the contrast between the crispy kadayıf on the outside and the soft, warm cheese inside. The pistachios on top were not something I particularly enjoyed by themselves, but mixed together with the cheese, syrup, and crispy pastry, they made much more sense. The first few bites, especially the areas that had not absorbed too much syrup, were excellent. Toward the center it became a little sweeter than I prefer, but overall I still liked it very much. Food-wise, I would actually give Meyhouse a slight edge over Dishdash. There were more layers and more small details to notice throughout the meal, from the bread and herb sauce to the Köpoğlu, Adana, rice, flatbread, and dessert. The service, however, did not match the level of the food. The restaurant was quite quiet at lunch, but the pacing was surprisingly rushed. I had barely started eating the Köpoğlu when the main course arrived. For a menu specifically presented as a three-course prix fixe, I expected the courses to be paced more deliberately. Instead, I had to choose between continuing to enjoy the appetizer and eating the kebab while it was still hot. There was also an issue with clearing the table. One staff member who was not the person taking my order repeatedly tried to remove my bread and the green herb sauce. The first time, I specifically asked him to leave the sauce. Later, after I finished the main course, he came back and again started clearing both without asking. I told him I wanted the bread to go, so he left the bread, but still removed the herb sauce. It was a small detail, but it made the service feel mechanical rather than attentive to what the guest had already requested. Overall, I would rate the food around 8.5/10 and the service around 6.5-7/10. Meyhouse is a little more expensive than Dishdash, but the prix fixe lunch is also very substantial. I only ate about half of the complimentary bread, and I was already quite full after the main course. Finishing the Künefe left me completely stuffed, so the portion size is definitely generous. I would still come back. Next time, I would probably try the Ahtapot, especially since it is only a $9 upgrade on the prix fixe compared with $25 à la carte. The food gives me a reason to return; I just hope the pacing and attention to small service details are better next time. read more

We've been to the Palo Alto location a few times but haven't been to the Sunnyvale location. It was pretty busy when we arrived for a 6:30 PM reservation on a Thursday night. We were promptly seated and our server was great. I could tell that there was a newer wait person as he was definitely multi-tasking. The food, like the Palo Alto location, was amazing! I can't get away from their home made yogurt dishes which goes so well with the fresh bread. It's always a task to not over do it with appetizers because it's always so good. We also had the octopus which was super tender and had that charred taste. We tried the artichoke heart with prawns dish and it was good, but I don't know if I'd order it again (I would probably want to explore more of the menu). I had the Chilean Seabass for an entree and it was rich and full of flavor. We ended the night with some baklava and they gave us a little scoop of ice cream to top off the celebratory dinner. Turkish food has been my new fixation and Meyhouse was at the top of my list of places to try. It's located in downtown Sunnyvale, which means parking can be tricky during peak dinner hours. The seating is noticeably pretty comfy and the interior of the restaurant is cozy. For starters we tried the manti and kopoglu. The yogurt that the manti came in was incredible -- the garlic flavor was so tasty! Luckily they gave us bread so we could finish off every last bit of it. I wish they gave more than 5 pieces in the order though.. next time we'll just order two. The kopoglu was pretty good too and paired very nicely with their house made bread, which btw is perfectly fluffy and amazing for dipping. For the main I had the Adana kebap which was amazing and the highlight of the meal for me! Everything from the meat to the veggies down to the rice was incredibly well seasoned. The lamb was tender and very juicy. BF ordered Çemenli tavuk which was also super tasty. It had this great smoky flavor and very tender too. We were excited to take the leftovers home. We stopped in at Meyhouse on a whim while in the area for the Wednesday music series, and I have rarely been so delighted with a decision. We started with the Girit cheese dish, and it may have been the stand out of the whole meal. 10/10 no notes. We then added the humus and Turkmen manti, which were both tasty. We finished with the lamb kebab (scrumptious), and the mashed potatoes. Now, the potatoes split the table in reviews, so enjoyment is taste specific, so move accordingly. A phenomenal dinner experience with plenty of good food. I visited on a Sunday evening, and it wasn't super busy. The ambiance of the restaurant was incredible: warm, inviting, and romantic. The service was also top-notch: efficient and speedy. We tried the tasting menu, and I'm so glad we did. Every single dish we tried was delicious, and we were able to try a whole range of dishes. The amount of food we got made the price worth it. By the time we were done with the cold and hot appetizers, we were already stuffed. They then brought out the entrees, which were so delicious we kept eating. And the desserts were the perfect finish to an already amazing meal. Special highlights were the manti with garlic yogurt, artichoke with poached shrimp, lamb chops with dill-potato wedges, and the baklava. After reading the high marks of Meyhouse, I thought it'd be difficult for this restaurant to meet my expectations. It did not. It WELL EXCEEDED them! Meyhouse had it all: the gorgeous establishment, the levels of flavors, and the utmost fine-dining experience you rarely find nowadays. What I'm talking about is this.... Aside from the obvious stuff like your server being courteous and responsive with ordering and delivering dishes, our Meyhouse server made sure to *time* our courses to our eating pace so plates didn't arrive too quickly. He also watched our wine glasses like a hawk, but from afar and respectfully, so he could glide over to refill our glasses without interrupting our conversation. Some times I didn't even know he came over; I'd just notice my glass was refilled! Same with finishing a dish or needing water or looking up... anything! Also, between courses, someone not only removed our plates and utensils (including the ones lying on the table, which were unused), but also they came by to clean off the table of crumbs before bringing new plates and utensils, and then the next course. (They did this twice, and our jaws hit the ground twice too.) Because we were there for a special occasion, our dinner lasted 3 hours and there were times we had paused eating because we were just talking, so staff sometimes came by to see if we needed our plates cleared. If we hesitated to answer because we weren't sure if we still wanted to eat some more, they smiled and slowly backed away almost as if embarrassed for getting it wrong. They were adorably sweet. We appreciated their proactiveness and attentiveness! We ordered 2 desserts to share, and there was a mix up where someone brought them out too soon -- without the candle for the birthday boy. I was disappointed by this because I asked our server to please be sure to include a candle, but I looked over and saw that he did a "double take" at our table, hustled to the kitchen, and swiftly returned with a lit candle on a complimentary scoop of ice cream. He even sang! So even though there wasn't the expected candle on our dessert, he did some quick thinking and fixed the error with an additional dessert -- and song! It was brilliant. Honestly, I'd sing Meyhouse's praises over and and again. They did everything right! **Random Things to Note** - Reserve time for parking. There's a lot across the street, but on weekend, it can be tough and take some time, so plan for that if you have reservations. - Corkage fee is a steep $35, so be prepared if you bring your own bottle! - If you order dessert, and you should also order Turkish tea. As a tea connoisseur, I think it compliments the desserts so well. (It's the temperature, the flavor, and yes, the cute little cup and saucers!) - I loved every dish (and bite) I had, but if I could only choose 1 dish, I would choose the eggplant with yogurt appetizer. For lunch we ordered from the prix fixe menu: Köpoğlu (roasted eggplant with peppers and tomatoes), Adana Kebap (has a $3 surcharge, ground lamb), and Baklava for me and Ahtapot (has a $9 surcharge, grilled octopus), Locum ($7 surcharge, tenderloin slices), and Kunefe ($2 surcharge) for her. Came here January 3rd 2025 when they opened at 5:00 p.m. the place was empty but not for long. the $20 kardies guvec tasted delicious with shrimp in a tomato base covered with cheese in a baked dish. The shrimp was to die for fresh and tasty with the tomato base sauce accentuating the taste. The d$38 dollar veggie alinazic presentation was excellent with sliced squash tomatoes and beets along with cooked onions. Not something that I would order but the wife loved it. Not sure if any vegetarian dish is worth $38. The $38 Adana with a single kabob of minced lamb rib together with rice and mixed vegetables. A bit pricey for what you got, but the lamb was delicious if the portion was on the small side.. The bread rolls came complimentary with the dinner and was so good that we ordered two servings of them. Well, I stand to be corrected. I was invited for a nice Birthday lunch by a former colleague and friend. My first inclination upon seeing it was Turkish was really not fair. I decided on the Ege Salatasi withChunky tomatoes, peppers, onions, cucumbers, garlic-oregano croutons, white cheese, capers and south Aegean olives. Imagine a Greek salad taken to another level. Why I liked this so was the combination except for the Feta was so much like a Spanish salad that I have had growing up as a kid . The dressing on it was perfect. I loved this. My friend had the Mercimekli Karniyarik Oven roasted half eggplant stuffed with green lentil, dried mint, tomato sauce and brown butter served with garlic-yogurt. What did I love about this place, the ambiance, our waiter's kindness and patience. The great food, the yogurt that was mixed with tons of garlic. like I like it) the music in the background that even though was Turkish sounded so much like Spanish flamenco. This is a WINNER for me. Came in hungry to celebrate a friend's birthday, left sooooo full, mostly because I could not stop myself from demolishing 4-5 massive pieces of their soft, airy bread (yes, they refilled without us even asking!). Honestly, zero regrets. While the bread kept us satisfied, mains did take a little longer to come out after the apps, but the food made up for it. Funny enough, the two dishes I expected to like the least ended up being my favorites: the eggplant dip and the chicken skewer. The chicken was insanely juicy with a slight char that hit perfectly, and the eggplant dip was so creamy from the yogurt with perfectly roasted eggplant. I would go back just for those. The octopus was super soft and basically melted in your mouth, though I did wish it had a bit more of that classic bounce. The tenderloin leaned a little too rare for my preference, but it was still very juicy and not overly gamey, which I appreciated. And of course, we had to get dessert. We ordered a baklava, which was definitely on the sweeter side. It satisfied my sweet tooth, though I've had flakier, more delicate versions elsewhere. We had a few friends visiting from the East Bay and 1 from the high desert in SoCal, and the GF thought bringing them to Meyhouse in Murphy Square would leave them with happy thoughts as this is their 1st foray into Turkish cuisine. Of course, the meal was exceptional. I ordered the muhammara, which I often do as it is 1 of my favorites - rich, balanced, and flavorful. Everyone likes dumplings so I had to have them. The bread basket with the dipping oils and spread is a must too. The eggplant dish, Perzola (lamb chops -must order), Lokum, the seabass, Adana and a platter of the vegetarian eggplant and a few appetizers were what I ordered. The Girit cheese, soft tangy cheese smothered in Antep pistachios, is soooo good with their fresh focaccia-like sesame bread. Warm hummus with brown butter and toasted pine nuts is lingering in my mind days later. Grilled Grouper fish skewer was super fresh and delicious, though could used an aioli or sauce. Cappadocia Fire cocktail with my favorite things, mezcal and aperol, did not disappoint. It wasn't spicy, just pure pleasure. Anyway, do not sleep on the best Turkish food in the area. I will say this place is on the pricier side, but the ambiance and service was pretty decent. The place was cozy and I really appreciated that they let us stay til 10:30 to chitchat as it was for a friends birthday party even though they had closed earlier. Now for food, we got to try a variety of things that I enjoyed: *FREE BREAD - this was absolutely delicious and you could tell this was made fresh. The dipping sauce this came with was absolutely flavorful and yummy * Kopoglu - this was a yogurty thing with eggplant and tomatoes and this was really yummy. This went super will with the complimentary bread * Vegetarian Humus - this was really yummy and came with pine nuts and a brown butter sauce. We were seated in the back booths, which were very comfortable and I appreciated that the tables had a good amount of space between them, at least where we were. We ordered manti, kopoglu (I think), lamb chops, branzino and beef skewer. Everything tasted great, but our favorites were the manti and the branzino. Next time I'd definitely get the branzino deboned since there were a LOT of tiny little fish bones but lesson learned. The lamb chops were the only dish that were okay in my opinion. Here, it's listed on the menu as 'rice pilaf' but what it is: a very small bowl of literal WHITE RICE... for $6. Honestly, I'm not certain it could even be measured out to be 1 cup of rice. My colleague raved about the food as a vegetarian so I knew I had to give it a try. The food was amazing, the space was comfortable, and the staff were friendly and helpful. I went once with girlfriends and we got a good variety from the various parts of the menu. Everything was delicious and portions were reasonable. It was fun to share and get to try it all. My favorites were the sea bass, the roasted veggies on garlic yogurt sauce, and the octopus. It was so good I went back the following weekend with my family. I have been to Mayhouse countless times since it was opened in Sunnyvale. They have been truly amazing with one of the most amazing service. But that has changed. Service barely exist. Called for bread twice, no response. When eventually bread showed up, we expected the usual, freshly baked bread, what we got was stale dried up bread. Ordered Alinazik( tenderloin skewer), I had it before it was great, this time the meat was chewy. For $50 a portion I could have crossed to Dish Dash and had meat there. Disappointed. read more

Came back exactly 2 weeks later for a birthday dinner, and though the food was still great, our server really ruined the dining experience. To me, the service and food go hand in hand and was very dissatisfied with her being rude, forgetful, and not attentive. We were the first diners as it was an early dinner and we ordered 4 appetizers to start along with two glasses of wine and a soda. First red flag was when she confirmed it was 3 appetizers, not 4. The lovely bread basket came out and the kopoglu was the star of course. 5, 10, 15 minutes pass and our drinks are no where to be found. Our server never came to check in as others brought the appetizers, so I waved down an employee and asked about our 2 glasses of wine. Again, there were maybe 1-2 other tables at this point and did not see the bartender making any drinks. He brings our two glasses of wine and we also reminded him about the soda. This server was incredibly kind and helpful. Mid way our server checks in on us and sees my empty wine glass and asks if I'd like another. Yes! Again, 5, 10 minutes pass by and I had to wave down the friendly employee about my wine as our server was chilling at the bar chatting with colleagues. After paying, our server was incredibly rude even though she received a tip for the poor service. Overall, my second visit here was incredibly disappointing. read more

What an amazing experience.. we made reservations and glad we did because the place was packed - we mostly saw big groups of people - families or corporate so not sure if this is the norm here but this was the scenario on a Friday. We ordered some mocktails followed by some amazing apps. We then got the lamb and the sea bass as our mains and it was the perfect dish for us. We were so full and content with our meal, we initially said no to dessert but ended up ordering and it was amazing !!! Will definitely be coming back here again :) read more

Overall we had a nice time. The mezze were good, but honestly most Mediterranean places in the Bay Area do mezze well, so I didn't see anything that would justify almost double the price. The kebab was tasty too, but seeing the cheapest entree at $36 felt a bit much. It really made me wonder where the meat is coming from and why the prices are this high. The one thing I really liked was that they serve rakı that was a big plus for me. Everything tasted good overall, but the prices were definitely higher than what I'd expect. read more
