Busy Weds night, due to music on the street. We were headed somewhere else but we saw the food coming out and decided on Dish Dash, And they could seat us. T his may have been the best meal I've ever eaten. My adult son and I shared the chicken and beef kabobs with roasted Brussel sprouts and potatoes, and the lamb shank in yogurt sauce with cauliflower over rice. The flavors of everything was an incredible experience. The lamb was falling off the bone, beef so flavorful, the chicken perhaps was a tad over cooked. Another good experience at DishDash restaurant on Murphy Ave in Sunnyvale. I got the mansaf again which I love. It was delicious, easily big enough for 2 meals, I brought half of it home with me. I also got the passion mocktail which was sweet and delicious. Reminded me of POG juice from Hawaii. The lamb mansaf was well cooked and the meat was very tender, I could cut it with my spoon. The yellow yogurt/saffron sauce was yummy. The waitress was new but she was very friendly, pretty, and provided good service. There was also a woman who I think was the manager, and she was very efficient. It's nice to go to this location on Murphy Ave which is the mother of all the other Dish n Dashes. I've enjoyed DishDash's casual sister eatery, Dish N Dash, many times, but finally got around to trying this spot last month! My boyfriend and I dined in on a weeknight and made a reservation. It wasn't completely full but there was still a decent sized crowd for dinner. To start we shared the chicken shawarma hummus, which was excellent and super flavorful. The free bread they give you to start was also really tasty! The entree portions were way larger than I expected and we probably could have shared one plate, but at least we got to take home leftovers! I ordered the tabsi falafel and my boyfriend got the makloubeh with chicken. Both dishes were incredibly flavorful and had a variety of textures, which was great for someone like me who loves variety in a meal. I think I liked the flavor of the makloubeh just a bit more than the tabsi but both of them were great and I would eat both again. I'd also be interested in returning for some of the other dishes we didn't get to try this time. Service was friendly. I ordered the Combo Kebab, which came with chicken, lamb, and kufta, along with yellow rice, grilled tomato, and toasted almonds. At first glance, all three meats looked a little dry, especially the chicken, so I was prepared for it to be tough. It turned out to be much better than it looked. The chicken had a lightly charred, slightly crisp exterior while remaining juicy inside. The lamb also looked very lean, but it was surprisingly tender and was probably my favorite of the three. The seasoning overall was restrained and well balanced. The meat was not relying on excessive fat or heavy sauces; the flavor came mainly from the charcoal and spices, so the whole plate felt satisfying without being overly heavy. The kufta had a good spice profile and a pleasantly firm texture. It was neither crumbly nor oddly powdery, but it was the driest of the three meats. A little more juiciness would have made it much better. The yellow rice was also a highlight. It was fragrant, fluffy, and the toasted almond slices added much more than I expected. Their crunch and nutty aroma gave the rice another layer of texture and made the entire plate feel more complete. The pita with olive oil and za'atar was very enjoyable as well, and the garlic sauce and green chili sauce helped keep the leaner grilled meats from becoming monotonous. Based on the food alone, I would probably rate the meal around 7.5 to 8 out of 10. Nothing was so extraordinary that I would drive a long distance just for that one item, but the overall execution was very solid and there were very few real weaknesses. What elevated the experience above a 9 for me was the service. This was not the formal, polished, slightly distant style of service associated with fine dining. It was warm and genuinely welcoming in a very natural way. The staff were friendly without being overly familiar, attentive without constantly interrupting, and enthusiastic without making me feel pressured to respond. They were also very observant. Before I had completely finished my pita, someone was already asking whether I wanted another basket. My water was refilled consistently, and they checked on the food at appropriate moments rather than mechanically stopping by every few minutes. What impressed me most was that the care did not come only from the server assigned to my table. Other staff members passing by would also notice what was needed and help naturally. It felt like the entire team was paying attention. I previously worked as the general manager of a small hotel, so this kind of service stands out to me. Great service cannot always remove the limitations of the room, the building, or the food itself, but it can change what the guest ultimately remembers about the experience. Dishdash did exactly that. The food was already good, but the service made the entire meal comfortable, relaxed, and genuinely enjoyable, even as a solo diner. I also appreciated that the suggested gratuity was based on the pre-tax subtotal instead of the after-tax total. It's a small detail, but one that stood out to me. As a Palestinian American, I was excited to come across DishDash after an event nearby and decided to check it out. When we first walked in, I loved seeing the beautiful wall that highlights Palestinian culture. But once you step into the main dining space, the vibe shifts. It clearly caters more to a non-Arab audience. Not bad, just not what I was expecting based on the first impression. We ordered the combo kebab, the mezza for two, and the Za'taar with olive oil and bread. The bread was really good, and I had to pace myself to not get full off it. The Za'taar had a nice tang to it that I really liked. Both of us enjoyed the combo kebab, especially with the freekeh. The mezza was good, but the labneh was a little watery and the tabbouleh portion felt a bit small. Everything still tasted fresh. It's definitely on the pricier side, and you can tell it's aiming for more of a fine dining experience. The service was solid and we had no complaints. Loved all the food we got here!! First tip: do NOT fill up on the pita and zaatar dip they bring to the table (and they will keep bringing more). Order some appetizers -- the muhammara and toum are fantastic -- and make sure you use your bread allotment there. But also, you might like the pita to soak up some of the tasty sauces the main entrees come with. Everything is so delicious. The grilled meats have that wonderful grilled flaovr. The sea bass and lamb shank were incredibly tender. I loved absolutely everything we got. For five adults, we got three dips (one was hummus with lamb shawarma so that's a little heavier of an appetizer I guess) and three big entree plates, and that was about perfect. We got one of each of the carb options: seasoned potatoes (very tender and flavorful, creamy gold potatoes), rice, and freekeh (good bite/chew to it compared to the rice). Enjoyed all of it. The servers are also super nice and kept checking on us, making sure our pita basket was filled and even brought us a spicy sauce (very good!). The outdoor seating area was nice and the weather was lovely, so we enjoyed outdoor seating for our meal. We started with a few cold dips to start, which combined with constantly replenished warm bread, whetted our appetites. We ordered several main dishes: Mansaf, kebabs, and tabsi with a combination of sides: roasted potatoes and vegetables, basmati rice, and freekeh. All dishes were packed with flavors, the sides were all excellent complements (shout out to the crispy potatoes and toothsome freekeh), and the meats were all cooked wonderfully. I've had this dish several times here. It's a bit too heavy and dense for me. It would definitely be too heavy to eat if it were my only entree for myself, but I think this dish isn't bad if shared. The vanilla bean gelato had good flavor but I think the baklava being in crumble form gave it a soggy granola texture. We actually just finished clubbing at Pure Nightclub at a Bedby10 event, and this place looked so good and had really good ratings, and surprisingly had an open table. We had lunch today at Dish Dash in Sunnyvale. It was really busy around there today because of the farmers market. So the parking lot across the street was not available for parking. But we were able to find parking 3 blocks up the street. We were warmly greeted and started off with some iced teas. I ordered the lamb shawarma with the house salad, which was so delicious. Really big restaurant located in downtown San Jose. They have various "Dish N Dash" restaurants which are the same thing but takeout only. We were only there for drinks/snacks so I tried the babaghounash (sp). I thought it was ok. My partner really liked it. Pita was fine. I live close by, and use to love coming to Dishdash for the lamb shanks, but the place has gotten so popular and usually the wait is so long, that we have not been here in a long time. Well on a Friday lunchtime in January, it was one of the only places with outdoor seating and therefore dog-friendly for my friend with her dog, so we came and were seated quickly. Prices -like everywhere- have gone up so much, so we chose some more casual lunch dishes instead of the full dinner entree. We got the crab falafel and a lamb Shawarma pita wrap. The food was quite good, if not fantastic. The crab falafel was like a middle eastern take on a crab cake, and the lamb shawarma was rich and flavorful, much more than the run of the mill shawarma or fast casual Greek place. It was juicy, full of veggies, and very good - all the food was obviously freshly made and hot out of the kitchen. Service left a little to be desired. Perhaps because we were outside, we felt a bit neglected by staff, having to request cutlery and water, even the menu and bill. Other than that it was a delicious meal. read more

DishDash has been a Bay Area institution as far as Mediterranean cuisine is concerned for over two decades. This restaurant is their flagship fine-dine version, while the other one in Sunnyvale called DishNDash is their casual, take-out, grab-and-go location. We've had lunch here so many times, and every time, we've left full and happy. They have ample space outdoors and inside, and the service is fast and friendly. It feels fancy but homely at the same time. On a recent visit, we tried our usual favorites - Beriani Dajaj (Chicken) and Tabsi (Chilean Sea Bass), and also tried a couple of new items - the Mansaf (Lamb) and Sambusak Dajaj. The lamb was okay, but the Chicken and Fish dishes were just fantastic. The Dajaj is a complete meal: the right combination of meat, rice, veggies - savory, sweet, tart, and immensely rich. The fish is so well cooked, and that eggplant sauce is delicious in the Tabsi. I also had a whiskey-based cocktail, which was very interesting. I don't know if it was the refreshing combination of rose water and mint, or the tamarind (?) rim, but The Souk was the smoothest cocktail I've ever ordered from any restaurant. I also ordered the Chicken Hummus, yellow rice, and more hummus. I couldn't get enough of how smooth and satisfying the hummus was so I ordered more along with the fresh, juicy chicken on top. The yellow rice was a perfect side order and came with enough for two people. Service was superior, we weren't waiting long before a server came to help us. The indoor seating is a tiny bit crowded but not a big deal; the bar was the most gorgeous part of the interior so I will definitely grab a seat there next time. The best part?
