Since I went to the Santa Cruz location, I may as well try their Santa Clara one, too! Hee

This was my second time at this particular, Achilles Restaurant. I went to the one in Santa Cruz a couple times before. I'm so glad there's closer one to me on the side of the hill! The portion they served are huge so if you get a plate, go with a friend and you can definitely share one. Unless you want extra or leftovers for yourself. Lol. Surface was quick and the menu is easy to read with a lot of different options! Don't get too overwhelmed by the amount of sauces you could add or just get the Works and pick off other things you don't like. I always forget they put jalapeños that are pickled on the Works. Lol I don't mind the spice of the juice but eating the actual jalapeños for a little much for me. Lol still delicious! I'm happy they have a $10 kids meal, which is perfect for my niece who loves hummus and their chicken!! Ambience is rather small, but we always get our meals to go. So I'm always happy with the surface and the amount of food you get considering inflation prices are ridiculous now. It will definitely be back again!!

Best thing about this spot is the portion. So much protein and dip per plate! Literally heaps! Almost wish they gave more rice as the ratio of meat to rice was off. The meat itself wasn't the softest or most flavorful as compared to other mediterranean restaurants, but it's still unbeatable for the sheer amount you get for the price. We tried the achilles chicken, gyro, and chicken shawarma. I liked the chicken shawarma the most and my boyfriend enjoyed the gyro most. We both felt that the meats were a little dry though. Service is super friendly and obviously they do not skimp. Place itself is small, with most people taking their food to-go. There was only around 2-3 tables.

The best Mediterranean food I've had so far in the Bay! You can fully customize your pita pocket, wrap, or bowl--and they let you get all the sauces. The wraps are toasted right at the end, so you get them perfectly warm and crispy as soon as you pay. Seating is limited but the food makes it worth it.

It's been a while since I've had Achilles. There were no other customers when we arrived. I order the Achilles chicken, with every spread and sauce added on + extra spicy. The chicken was very dry, even more dry than the usual chicken breasts I've had. Perhaps it's due to the lack of moving customers + the chicken was precooked and sitting there for a while. Hummus and the other spreads tasted pretty good though. Portion size was big, but reasonable to finish in one sitting because pitas aren't included like most other Mediterranean places I've been visiting lately.

We were craving protein and mediterranean food typically is great for that. We decided to stop by Achilles after hearing it was pretty good. Seeing as the ratings were pretty high we decided to stop by. The inside of the store is really small. There are a couple tables but it definitely feels more like a stall than anything. A person takes your order and starts cooking after you order. One thing I noticed was they take meat out of a tin. And is smoked or grilled beforehand. It shows later on. Their portion is pretty big. But mainly because most of the box is rice and lettuce. the protein is... ok size. But it was quite dry. The hummus and sauce are pretty good. They did a good job here. For good sauce, but dry meat, and non seasoned lettuce, they get a 3.5 rounded to a 4. But they should consider making their meat more fresh, maybe adding pita to all meals, and seasoning their rice/lettuce more (instead of just throwing it on top). It feels more like a halal guys to me now, maybe a bit drier.

Pretty frickin good bro. Big fan of the gyro beef wrap the works way. Highly recommend getting everything on whatever you get, there's really no reason not to. The wrap was perfectly crisp and solid with a nice saucy inside. I could easily go for another. Baklava was also good. I'd eat here again, the only thing I wasn't personally a fan of was the outside chairs inside, but food was pretty bomb. Deuces.

Heard so many great things about this place, so I came here with high hopes. I got the achilles chicken bowl with the works (all the toppings) except for the spicy party cherry peppers. Their portion was huge and I really liked the baba ghanouj. The owner was also really nice and gave us heart shaped falafels on the house once he found out that we've never tried their falafels. The falafels were so fresh and crispy on the outside. I would get their falafel bowl next time!

I had this place favorited for awhile and finally had the chance to try it out--however, it didn't meet my expectations. I ordered a combo plate with gyro beef and achilles chicken and chicken shawarma fully loaded and nothing really stood out to me. Sadly, the meats were on the dry end which was kind of disappointing. Hopefully it was just an off day--but, at least their hummus, baba ghanouj, tahini and tzatziki sauce and veggies were fresh and decent.

    Fely L.

Had high hopes for this place but it didn't do it for me. All I can say was service was good and workers are friendly. Food portion was huge with all the sauce you can have. Food was a miss for me. Maybe it was my selection but it was just too dry for me and the baba ganouj for some reason had a wierd taste. I went for the chicken sharma and so. Had combo plate. I think the Achilles chicken was ok.

We tried their location in Santa Cruz a few years ago, and have ordered Achilles from DoorDash, but now we finally went to the location in person. They have a kind of simple menu in that you choose your "meat" - gyro, chicken gyro, their Achilles chicken, or falafel, and then choose if you want it on a plate or in a pita. You can get rice or salad, or half and half, and then they have a variety of different things that come with it. Everything is fast and fresh. This was the first time I tried the Achilles chicken, which is very tasty and flavorful. We also got the waffle fries, which were really good, especially dipped in the baba ghanouj. They have a nice outdoor patio area.

Fantastic chicken shawarma! You have to try this place! I ordered the chicken shawarma. The chicken had such a delicious smoky BBQ flavor, and when combined with the sauces and sides, is just a masterpiece of good flavor. Fantastic hummus and the baba ganouj was even better! It was definitely my 2nd favorite part of the plate, after the chicken. I love the variety the plate offers and it all combines so well. There was plenty of seating and the staff were very nice. I highly recommend you try this place and will definitely back!

Parking is a nightmare. Food is mediocre, overhyped due to the history around this location. Lots of food but lacks alot of flavor. Staffs are great. The vibe felt very "outdated" as half of the restaurant was used as dining table storage in visible sight.

    Sofi P.

Got the combo bowl plate. The beef gyro and chicken shawarma was so dry. I thought I was eating cardboard. Dry and tasteless the only saving grace was that it was heavily doused in sauce to mask/cover up the dryness. Disappointed in the lack of flavor and how dry and bland the meat is. The gyro is also extra salty. It's like the chicken was just sitting out to dry and harden. Piercing it with a fork was obvious at how dry the chicken was. Not worth the price or coming back Place has two tables to sit inside and no restrooms

Given its Greek cuisine, Do you serve non halal food for non- muslims?

Hello Satya, All our meats are Halal. Unless you have a special event that we will be happy to accommodate your request.

If possible, can I know where this halal meat is sourced from? Are both location the same and halal? Thanks!

hello, we use Wynne farmer halal

What is a hit or miss item here?

Chicken shawarma, falafel & gyro are big hit and the only miss if you have not tried our food yet.

    Are the falafels gluten free?

    Yes

    Is the dolma vegetarian?

    Yes

Hi guys Do you have lahmajoon in your menu?

    Is the falafel gluten-free?

Yes, our falafel is gluten free!

    Gluten free options?

Yes, they have gluten free options.

    Is the falafel gluten free?

    Yes, it is!

Do they make pita fresh in-house or have it brought in from somewhere? @Alberto P.: Made in-house daily and brought in daily are nowhere near the same thing.

They advertise it as Fresh so my assumption would be in house or delivered same day. I know those are completely different but when the pita comes out fresh it is warm and seems in house.

Do you offer gluten free pita bread? Also, are your sauces vegan?

Sorry, we do not offer pita ( gluten free) at this time. However, we have tahini sauce ( vegan)

What is halal on the menu?

Everything is Halal. Both their chicken and the gyro are Halal.

What's the difference between the Chicken Shawarma and the Achilles Chicken?

The Achilles chicken: is chicken breast Marinated with 16 different spices and cooked on the grill.....meanwhile, the chicken shawarma comes in dark and white meat and cooked on a skewer ( also called AutoDonor) shaved into thin slices.

Hella yummy Palestinian food in the Bay!…read more I've heard of Holyland but finally had the chance to dine there for a weekend lunch. These days it's always at the front of my mind that food spots that call themselves "Middle Eastern" or "Mediterranean" truly divulge who is the owner and chefs are. I'm talking about only eating from restaurants that can name the country their food comes from be it Falasteen, Jordan, Lebanon, Morocco, the list goes on. Holyland is located in the industrial part of Santa Clara, and they boast lots of interior seating (great for large parties and group meals) and also run a catering service. So there's loads of parking and plenty of space. My friend and I were hungry, so I got the lamb kofta and he had the beef plates. We were SO happy. It comes with a light tangy salad, delicious hummus with a kick of spice, a bed of delicious yellow rice and slender pita bread. They also have serve-yourself hot cardamom tea which is so delicious and perfect. They also serve a bunch of other refrigerated drinks like Salaam Cola and kefir. The mezze plate with x4 different dips looks so yummy, I would get that next time with a large group to share. Will definitely head back with a larger group. We saw other diners from couples, to solo to large families eating. The interior could use some sprucing up, but the quality of the food, staff, and authenticity of the place is #1. Delicious. Because of its location in NW China, Uyghur cuisine is a natural fusion of Chinese, multiple "Stans" (e.g., Pakistan, Kazakhstan, etc.), and is predominantly Muslim in population. The food is 100% authentic, as the proprietor, Lei Han, is a third-generation chef from the Ili region. Their food has already captured the attention of Bay Area food critics and was featured by SF Eater and recently included in the local PBS Station's 2026 "What to Eat in the Bay Area"** list for the South Bay. The Good: * All meats are 100% Halal (حلال) * Large shared parking lot * Order via QR code * Friendly service * Very reasonable prices and giant portions. Even we had leftovers! :8) * Pan-fried Lamb and Onion Dumplings were a bit underseasoned for my liking, but the flavor and texture were delicious. * Stir-Fried Noodles was another winner, with delicious noodles and tender chicken. Please note that the menu doesn't reflect that it comes with meat, but it does. We didn't really care either way, but some people might. * The Laghman (a type of hand-pulled noodle) is the thing to get here, as the flavor and texture of them were phenomenal. You could lock me in a room with a bucket of them, and I'd be happy as a clam. The Meh: * No alcohol * You can order through the app but have to pay the old-fashioned way. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ The Ugly: * Despite critical acclaim and being open for several years, it's a bit staggering how low the review count (67?!) is here on Yelp. The base is an omelette, and the rice is flavorful with bell peppers, finely chopped veggies, and aromatic spices. The center is with a tomato-based curry. The cheese on the side was amazing, and I loved it. The spicy guava drink is super refreshing with a playful mix of spice, salt, sourness, and the sweetness of guava. I really enjoyed it! It's like a cross between a western style bbq joint and a middle eastern twist with its meats and food. Turns out, this place is mainly an Afghan restaurant! It's half eatery half a butcher shop for people to come and purchase fresh meats for some home cooking. In fact, I watched a lot of people coming in and ordering meats to go. I ordered their chili lamb kabob which was tender and juicy. It had lots of flavor from the spices but enough to where it wasn't overwhelming. I ordered it on top of a pillow of rice which was fluffy and buttery textured. It was delicious. There are sauce bottles to pair with the meats which is my favorite part.
