Amazing 10/10, I tried the chicken and beef plate. Both of them solid, there selections of sauces was great too! I recommend the white and spicy sauce. Double Combo Plate I ordered - Turmeric Rice - Chicken Shawarma and Gyro Beef - The Works (Everything included) - Tzatziki sauce - Falafel (Side) - Waffle Fries (Side) Okay, the presentation of the combo plate wasn't the most aesthetically pleasing, but I looked past it. Unfortunately, the chicken and beef were lacking in flavor and were pretty dry. The portions were generous, though the gyro beef was sliced pretty thin. The veggies were actually fresh, which was a plus. The hummus was on the lighter side flavor-wise, while the Baha Ghanouj had a solid roasted aftertaste. The Achilles spread was... interesting. It was very fatty with a garlic aftertaste. It just wasn't my thang. The waffle fries were cool. They were fried well and had a good crunch, but nothing special. The falafel, though, was pretty disappointing. I'm not sure if I just got a bad batch. They were very crunchy, but had a weird dish-soap aftertaste that I couldn't get past. We ordered 2 plates, chicken for Gavin and falafel for me. My pita had a good amount of hummus and falafel in it, but the vegetables were like a hint of garnish; not packed in to add lots of flavor as you would get in Israel. There are only a few tables outside, so don't go at a busy time if you want outdoor dining. We like the falafel in pita sandwich from here better than a few other local places we tried recently. This was my second time at this particular, Achilles Restaurant. I went to the one in Santa Cruz a couple times before. I'm so glad there's closer one to me on the side of the hill! The portion they served are huge so if you get a plate, go with a friend and you can definitely share one. Unless you want extra or leftovers for yourself. Lol. Surface was quick and the menu is easy to read with a lot of different options! Don't get too overwhelmed by the amount of sauces you could add or just get the Works and pick off other things you don't like. I always forget they put jalapeños that are pickled on the Works. Lol I don't mind the spice of the juice but eating the actual jalapeños for a little much for me. Lol still delicious! I'm happy they have a $10 kids meal, which is perfect for my niece who loves hummus and their chicken!! Ambience is rather small, but we always get our meals to go. Best thing about this spot is the portion. So much protein and dip per plate! Literally heaps! Almost wish they gave more rice as the ratio of meat to rice was off. The meat itself wasn't the softest or most flavorful as compared to other mediterranean restaurants, but it's still unbeatable for the sheer amount you get for the price. We tried the achilles chicken, gyro, and chicken shawarma. I liked the chicken shawarma the most and my boyfriend enjoyed the gyro most. We both felt that the meats were a little dry though. It's been a while since I've had Achilles. There were no other customers when we arrived. I order the Achilles chicken, with every spread and sauce added on + extra spicy. The chicken was very dry, even more dry than the usual chicken breasts I've had. Perhaps it's due to the lack of moving customers + the chicken was precooked and sitting there for a while. Hummus and the other spreads tasted pretty good though. Portion size was big, but reasonable to finish in one sitting because pitas aren't included like most other Mediterranean places I've been visiting lately. read more

Seeing as the ratings were pretty high we decided to stop by. The inside of the store is really small. There are a couple tables but it definitely feels more like a stall than anything. A person takes your order and starts cooking after you order. One thing I noticed was they take meat out of a tin. And is smoked or grilled beforehand. It shows later on. Their portion is pretty big. But mainly because most of the box is rice and lettuce. the protein is... ok size. But it was quite dry. The hummus and sauce are pretty good. They did a good job here. For good sauce, but dry meat, and non seasoned lettuce, they get a 3.5 rounded to a 4. But they should consider making their meat more fresh, maybe adding pita to all meals, and seasoning their rice/lettuce more (instead of just throwing it on top). Heard so many great things about this place, so I came here with high hopes. I got the achilles chicken bowl with the works (all the toppings) except for the spicy party cherry peppers. Solid place in Santa Clara for halal cart-style plates. They have some tables but it's mostly a to-go spot. Parking is also limited. I usually get the combo plates with chicken and falafel. I'd stick with chicken since the beef is sometimes dry. I go all-in with the complimentary toppings. I recommended sticking with just two sauces. The meat proteins aren't carved to order. We tried their location in Santa Cruz a few years ago, and have ordered Achilles from DoorDash, but now we finally went to the location in person. They have a kind of simple menu in that you choose your "meat" - gyro, chicken gyro, their Achilles chicken, or falafel, and then choose if you want it on a plate or in a pita. You can get rice or salad, or half and half, and then they have a variety of different things that come with it. Everything is fast and fresh. Something's up with this place. I don't know if they've changed owners or not, but it's not the same. First, you have the guy who always has a mediocre attitude, like he doesn't want to be there. If you ask him a question, you can sense his irritation. Not a friendly dude at all. They had a girl cashier who used to be super friendly, but she doesn't work there anymore. I always get the Achilles chicken plate. Before, the Chicken used to be tender, and the pieces were cut nicely; you didn't need a knife. Today's plate has huge chunks of chicken that are tough! Even my super-sharp, expensive knife had trouble cutting through the chicken. I managed, but it was a struggle. Achilles is a great greek, medeterrainian spot in Santa Clara. There are few places that compare to this spot in the South Bay. My absolute favorite is a spicy pork gyro as well as a fallafel from them. I would avoid eating in if you don't want to be in a small busy restaurant, I personally always order takeout. In my opinion skip the fries, they are expensive and boring. The bar next door will let you order food from there and eat in the bar if that's your style. The only reason it doesn't get 5 stars is it is in my opinion expensive for what it is, but sometimes I do crave it, and money doesn't matter. read more
