The beef was okay, not particularly tender. My friends had the Lemon Chicken Orzo and Beef plus Chicken Skewers. The latter was not on the menu but our waiter accommodated. I had a fabulous business lunch at Opa! Reservations were easy to make via OpenTable, seating was punctual and pleasant, and the food was lovely. The price is a little steep as compared to other Mediterranean places in the area, but it is clear from the get go that you are paying for great quality of service and environment, as well as awesome presentation. The dip sampler was an excellent start to our meal (pictured), as it was flavorful but not overly filling. As my main, I got the beef skewers. They were well seasoned and cooked to perfection. I subbed the rice for a Greek salad, and I was so happy with the freshly chopped vegetables and lots of feta cheese. It was an awesome experience with a very kind waiter. If I didn't come here with my company, I wouldn't pay with my own money for the quality and service I received at my two visits here. The lemon chicken orzo's yogurt sauce was too heavy for me to finish all the orzo so I ate the chicken and left maybe a third of the orzo on my plate. I've been here twice now, both for work lunches. This most recent experience was pretty disappointing, both from a food quality and service perspective. My team booked a reservation for 11 people around 11/11:30 AM. Opa opens at 11 AM, so you'd think they would have everything prepared. Yet, there was no gyro meat or tzatziki sauce available my party. My coworker was offered tzatziki sauce "3 minutes" after his food was brought to the table, which he accepted, but that sauce never came. I ordered the lemon chicken orzo - the chicken was on the drier side, and the sauce was so heavy and creamy that it was too much for me to finish, and I didn't have any interest in taking my leftovers. Opa! It's my first time to try this Greek Restaurant and totally enjoyed the meal. I got to try their signature Flaming Cheese, the Opa Lettuce Wrap, and their Melitzanosalata Dip. Flaming Cheese was fun to watch. It's nice to try it and the texture of the cheese after the flame. I bet it will go well with Wine and meats. I love the Lettuce Wrap. Always a fan of light "healthy" wraps. Their version is tropical meets spicy with the pineapple bits and jalapeños. The eggplant dip is light. Just enough seasoning. Enjoyed all three dishes. Tried their Margarita too and it's good, not to mention decent price. Service was fast and during a weekday lunch, just enough people dining to make it feel festive, yet still relaxing. That's it. I've always been a huge fan of opa! It never fails! I was surprised the fritto misto was actually pretty good! I loved the variety along with the calamari. I wish they still had the Yelp check in because their fries are the best. It's perfectly crispy on the outside and potato on the inside. My go to dish has always been moussaka and they always make it perfect . However, recently when I went for whatever reason the dish is never hot when it comes I'm not sure why, but I didn't bother to send it back and I just take it back home and heat it and it still tastes amazing. Decent Greek food in Silicon Valley. Went there for my monthly get together with college buddies, but this was a special occasion because one of our friends was visiting from Houston, and I hadn't seen him in a couple of decades. I got there late thanks to traffic and the others were already into their meal. I picked at some of the appetizers but could not find anything on the menu that caught my eye! Then I spotted it - the lamb shank - and while it was quite expensive, I had my heart set on it. The shank was superb - fall-off-the-bone deliciousness on a bed of superfluous greens and orzo. The food is presented nicely, and the visual makes you want to eat everything ! Maybe I was just hangry. Service is super slow, so if you're in a hurry, this isn't your spot. The ambience is open and inviting. I was seated outside and it was perfect given the weather! Service was prompt to begin with but then as the restaurant got busy, the service quality dropped a little. I had to wait for sometime after my starter before any server came to take my order for the entree.... Luckily the conversation with my friend who was with me was intriguing and interesting! ;-) Finally the quality of food was awesome. Opa! is my new go-to spot for all my dining needs. I decided to try the place out for a group of 20 for lunch. And I liked it so much that I booked another large party lunch for a group of 55 and then for another group of 12 - all in the month of Dec. Fernanda made everything so easy for me. She helped me with the reservations and also suggested some appetizers to pre-order for my large groups. All the food, from appetizers to main entrees to desserts were sooooo good! I arrived on a Tuesday at lunch time and it wad packed inside with local tech workers who are forced to work in person on Tuesday-Thursday. I had to park in the garage because of construction. We were seated outside immediately and the host brought me a glass of water but then didn't come back until 15 minutes later. I saw the server go to a person behind us first even though we had been waiting longer. I know it is the lunch rush and most restaurants are short staffed. The menu hasn't changed since Opa first opened so expect Americanized Greek fare. I had the veggie pita without dairy which means no tzaziki sauce or feta on fries. It was predictable and the pita was soft but nothing spectacular. Our food came out right away. The patio is nice but inside is really loud. A nearby alternative that I think tastes more authentic is Athena Grill but Opa is solid. You also get more for your $$ at Athena. read more

We made a reservation for a Wednesday evening at 6:30 for inside. Because there was a corporate party they couldn't seat us inside yet and offered outside but it was so chilly so we asked for it inside and they asked us to wait. We waited until 6:50 and there was clearly a booth open and they wouldn't release it to us because it belonged to the corporate party even though it wasn't being used. At this point I was annoyed because why the hell would you not give it away if it's not being used?? So I asked again and they gave it to us, but then while sitting down for like 10 mins there were no servers helping us or giving us water so I was getting a little hangry. Finally we were helped and just ordered everything on the spot. We ordered the flaming cheese and spanakopita to start. I got the salmon for myself. Honestly all of it tasted pretty good. Had lunch with coworkers. Things were on the pricier side. Perhaps about $20 minimum cost. I think probably the cheapest lunch option would be getting a pita. Depending on the protein you choose it will set you back various amounts. We did order this cool flaming cheese appetizer that I thought was pretty cool. Well I shouldn't say cool as you can feel the heat from it. Would be perfect for a cold dark and stormy night. I forgot what it was called but you can probably see it from the menu. I really love Opa, and this location is great for the shops/restaurants it is in. This location is vibrant and new, but a bit smaller than the other locations I am used to. Lots of outdoor seating which will be nice when the weather is warmer. Seated quickly and our server was really great. We ordered opa fries, saganaki, and skordalia dip. For our mains, I ordered the fiery feta flank steak and my friend ordered the pasticio. We also ordered drinks but I asked our waitress later for some waters, which was weird that it wasn't automatically given. My biggest qualm is EVERYTHING came at once. Less than 10 minutes of ordering, our food came out in a span of less than 5 minutes. For 2 people it was really difficult to enjoy everything as we were trying to enjoy our apps while the entrees were just getting cold. It was really overwhelming, and if I knew that, we would've ordered the entrees much later. Fries were excellent as always, the skordalia was okay, not as flavorful as I would've liked. The saganaki is always a fun experience but we were a bit weirded out by the blue on the cheese. We asked the waitress and she let us know later that it was the print on the cheese. The saganaki was good, but heavily oiled and not as good as other places as I've had it. The flank steak was cooked pretty well, as I had ordered medium rare and plenty of red. My friend said the pasticio was pretty good too, though adding balsamic vinegar is not typical for the dish. Garlic mashed potatoes and asparagus were tasty too. We ordered banana bread pudding for dessert and it was pretty good but much more dense than I would've liked. My friend ordered a frappe and we weren't sure if they'd be able to accommodate as they mentioned the bar was closing soon? Was a little odd. I was surprised to walk into a dead empty restaurant at 6:30pm on a Friday night. I think they had maybe 2 or 3 tables with people? It was also quite surprising that we were asked if we had reservations....uh, no. To their credit, they did seat us immediately, although it took a bit of time to see our waiter. We ordered the half chicken dinner, the Greek meatloaf, the moussaka and an appetizer of fried zucchini with garlic mashed potatoes. Although the food looked very pretty on the plate, the flavor profile was odd and not authentic. The chicken was kind of bland in flavor, and sadly undercooked. The skin was not roasted crisp as it should have been, but kind of gross and rubbery, like boiled chicken. The moussaka was unlike any I've ever tasted, far, far from authentic, it was just kind of weird. We did enjoy the fried zucchini. Overall an underwhelming experience, and very expensive. I visited Opa Santa Clara for a work lunch last week. I had a reservation and we were seated at 12, ordered about 12:10. Myself and my client got the lemon chicken orzo dish and one person got a white fish dish. Our food was not delivered until after 1:10pm. It was super frustrating! So waiting 1+ hour for our lunch, during a work week lunch hour. Honestly, it was embarrassing bringing a client here-- can't even imagine what I'd do if they were in more of a hurry. The chicken dish I would rate a 3.5/10. It was 5 little chunks of dry chicken, with an orzo that was too rich/too much. Waiting for this mid dish was just 100% not worth it. My client encouraged me to speak up about how long we had to wait, to see if they could compensate somehow on our check. The supervisor kept trying to push for a "free dessert"? Lol no, it's lunchtime in the tech world, we don't need or want a lunch dessert! They ended up comping 15 or 20% of the tab after multiple back and forths with the manager. If I was in the area again, I am absolutely choosing anywhere but Opa to have lunch. It's a shame too because I used to like it here. read more

The whole entre tasted as it was just a dusting of dollar store salt and pepper. Tasted like it was cooked on a cheap gas grill...... This dish reminded of summer time shish kabobs that anyone can make at home...No Greek flavor zing at all....I ordered it rare, suspecting it would come to me served medium...Well, I was right... My mom had a Gyro with Beef. She said it was overdone and chewy... My wife had chicken skewers with rice. She said it was dry..... This just was not really good food. I have have had way better food at Athena. Sorry, but I can't recommend this place for value and quality. The beef gyro has nice flavor but dry, but thats all gyro. The lowly flank steak had good seasoning but again dry since we ordered it as medium. The roast potatoes were good, french fries were ok. Evgolemon soup was new experience for me, it was def lemony & refreshing. I went to Opa for lunch to finally try it out back in August. A friend and I decided to eat outdoors where a large group was dining. I normally park behind their outdoor seating when I'm picking up Starbucks a few doors down across the street. It was nice to finally be on the other side of the hedges! A waiter immediately asked what we'd like to drink and I was kind of disappointed they didn't have many non-alcoholic choices, just the usual soda, unsweetened iced tea, and lemonade. I'd hoped there was a special Greek beverage to keep cool in the heat. We ordered Saganaki Opa! as an appetizer and the waiter attempted to light the hot, bubbly cheese on fire but the flame kept going out. Definitely entertaining and melted cheese? Oh yeah! Their freshly baked pita is amazing! So soft with a lightly crisped edge. For entrees, we shared the classic gyro with fries and chicken souvlaki skewers with rice pilaf. Both were fantastic! The Greek fries are SO addicting! Crispy and hot with a creamy yellow dip. I finished my share with ease. The savory beef/lamb gyro with cool cucumber sauce on that pita was excellent. Each bite of chicken skewer was juicy and flavorful. Perfection with a squeeze of lemon. I wish they gave more rice pilaf! Fluffy and chewy. Can't believe I waited so long to eat here. Was looking for something quick for lunch and decided to order a gyro to go from Opa!. I placed an order over the phone and got their gyro sandwich with gyro meat and a side of fries (a little over $15). They were really fast and my order was ready within 5 minutes of placing it while I was in a different store in the plaza walking over. The waiter was also very nice and efficient while dealing with the lunch rush hour. The portions were pretty big, but I will be making a mental note that if I was to order this again, I definitely need to order the sauce on the side because the gyro was drenched in tzatziki sauce making it pretty unappetizing to look at and everything too soggy. I couldn't really distinguish how the gyro tasted because of the sauce. The fries were good though and still crispy by the time I got home. I'm still open to giving them another try knowing what I know now, but this first experience was pretty lackluster. read more

This was my 3rd visit, and overall the food has been great 2/3 times. Last week I got an overcooked steak, but tonight's skewer made up for it. It was super flavorful and worth every penny. They only had three staff working, but you'd never guess it. They moved efficiently and worked together really well. The host in particular stood out. She was taking orders, checking on tables, and refilling waters and always moving. I actually thought she'd been there a while, but she said she's only been working a couple months. We reserved a head of time, and we were seated right away when we arrived. Interior is very nice. It was not crowded. It doesn't have many vegetarian options besides salad and vegetarian souvlaki. First order drink and appetizers. I like the fried zucchini and opa! Fries. The best is the zucchine. I think I eat it the most. It is not greasy. For the main course, flank steak is cooked based on my preferences, which is good. It also tastes yummy. I like the falafel, too. Pricewise, it is reasonable. Some items in the menu are quite pricey. I had a nice experience for first time visiting the Santa Clara location. My colleague and I came for Friday lunch, as our office is close by. We came around 1:30 pm, so the lunch rush was gone. Due to the warm sunny weather, we opted for outdoor patio seating. Both ordered the Lamb Souvlaki. I got mine medium with the side of fries. Colleague ordered medium well with the rice pilaf. We both very much enjoyed our food. Meat was well seasoned and tender. I loved the sauce that came with the fries, they paired so well together. Vegetables (seasonal) were a great pairing with the lamb as well. I also ordered a lemonade which was refreshing on the hot summer day. We ended our lunch with the Greek yogurt panna cotta to share. I love Opa! Every time we come here we are seated right away and we always have a helpful, polite, patient server. The restaurant is beautifully designed with artistic wall pieces and lovely overhanging chandeliers with shining bright lights. My experience at Opa! has always been GREAT! &I would say we come here quite often, maybe 1-2 times per month. It's really not their fault if people don't make reservations and cannot be accommodated. Also in my experience the food is always great! This Opa has the BEST food of all the Opa restaurants in the area. The one in Campbell doesn't season their food enough, nor make their fries as great + crispy as this location. My boyfriend ordered his favorite the Greek Beef Cheesesteak Sandwich which comes with lots of meat, melted mozzarella cheese, sautéed onions, bell peppers, and spicy aioli. Let me tell you, this sandwich is AMAZING! It is SO meaty, cheesy, creamy, and filling! The sautéed onions + bell peppers add a nice combo to the amazing swirl of flavors within the Pita. Also the Pita itself is so thick and helps you to become full much faster. I highly recommend this for anyone who loves thick, meaty, cheesy sandwiches. Trust me, it's great! For dessert we decided to try the Baklava Sundae. It was delicious! It comes with two large cuts of baklava, a vanilla scoop of ice cream, and dollop of whip cream topped with caramel, nuts & honey. Came here on a Saturday at the tail end of brunch. It wasn't crowded at all, but probably cuz it was so late already. We ordered the every dip sample platter since it was only $3 more than the 3 dips, and boy was it big, and we were hungry. From the brunch menu we got the Opa! Gyro Hash and Eggs, Spartan Benedict, and Lemon Chicken Orzo from the regular menu. IDK if the portions were large, or we just filled up on the pita from the dip spread but there was plenty to take home. The Gyro Hash and eggs are served on a skillet and the bechamel sauce was soo luscious and delicious. It comes with a heaping portion of potatos as well as gryo meat and was soo flavorful. The filet on the Spartan Benedict was cooked just right, the village potatoes were a bit bland though but the holladaise made it better. The Lemon Chicken Orzo definitely has a punch of lemon that stands out, but was good. The chicken wasn't dry especially when you scoop it up with the yogurty sauce. read more

I made the poor decision to phone in a take-out directly and was told by a very green employee that the POS system was down. He recommended that I call back in five minutes. Sbeit, it wasn't his fault if the house POS system was indeed down, but what kind of customer service is that? What happened to just taking an order by pen and paper? Especially if it's a phone order... Since I was right by the Whole Foods, I decided just to place my order in person, again, I was expecting better. I walked in and was not greeted by the same employee who I had just spoken on the phone with. Then a diner walked in and was greeted and seated before I was acknowledged. Then came the excruciating pain of watching a poorly trained employee make multiple attempts at entering my order. I do not the POS system was very truly down; rather, it seems that this teenaged employee is not fully acquainted with the POS software. It is unfortunate and probably caused by the prevalence of third party food ordering apps. Customers would order what they want via the apps and tickets are spat out. So it was silly of me to think that I should forego all these apps and attempt to order directly from the restaurant. Service left A LOT to be desired. I would like to say that the food was worth all the trouble but the quality has severely deteriorated. I will not make the mistake of returning. read more

Made a reservation for team lunch. We were seated promptly when we checked in. We opted for outdoor seatings. It looks like this place were used for business or team lunch. Service was attentive. Drinks were refilled when almost empty. Orders were taken at the right time. Food came out at the appropriate time. Pita bread on the dip sampler were toasted, soft, and yummy. We all enjoyed our entrees. It is a great place for company team lunch. read more

Came for a birthday dinner, and do not have plans to return. What could this place improve? Everything. Avoid if possible. Ambiance: loud and crowded. Service: not good. It took 20 minutes being seated for anyone to bring us water and another 10 minutes for someone to take a drink order. The entrees took an hour for delivery, and our waiter only checked in once after 30 mins to let us know the kitchen is behind. Besides taking our orders, no one ever checked in and we had to ask for water refills/menus/silverware. Food: average. Not worth the wait or price. read more

This was my default when I was in the neighborhood and attempted to go to Taco Tuesday at Puesta, but found the wait too long. I have gone to other locations and I find their dips to be phenomenal. Hungry for a heartier meal, I decided to try the moussaka. I was seated at the bar and while it was lively and loud, the bar had plenty of open spots. Instead of a baked together dish, this version seemed hastily composed separately and thrown together in the kitchen moments before being brought out. There appeared to be ribbons of steamed eggplant and zucchini (?) along with slices of barely cooked potato covered in a meaty, but bland tomato sauce.. The béchamel was gloppy and lukewarm and there was simply too much of it. The balsamic drizzle did not do anything to enhance the dish. The whole thing needed to meld and mingle in a slow oven for a while or at the very least a quick trip under a broiler or a salamander. read more

Arrived with a party of nine on an emptier day and we were sat down immediately. Upon looking at the menu you can tell that some items are on the higher end in terms of price, and (in my opinion) straight up overpriced. Also, they had a couple of vegetarian options and no pork. It was an average wait to get our appetizers and main dishes came out shortly after. One party member noticed a hair in their salmon dish, and the staff swiftly took it back (it might've taken them about ten minutes to come out with a replacement). They gave us a bread pudding dessert on the house as condolences, which was so so yummy. We waited about ten minutes after asking for the check to arrive. In my opinion, the food was just okay. I got the chicken pita with a side of wild rice, the chicken was seasoned and moist with a lot of tzatziki on warm bread. The wild rice was very OK, no special flavors or seasoning, but the texture was fun. Wouldn't recommend, I should've gone with the fries instead. My brother, who ordered the Pasticio, wasn't in love and didn't think it was worth the $27. I don't have the best eye for Greek food anyway, so I'd just recommend coming here if you have the extra money and want to try something new. read more

I don't understand how this place is still in business. I wish there was an option to rate this place even lower. My experience at this restaurant has been consistently dreadful over the past few years, to say the least. It's a miracle if you manage to get your food within 45 minutes of ordering. The lack of efficiency here is staggering. Upon arrival, there's never a soul in sight to greet you. You practically have to set up a smoke signal to grab anyone's attention, even for a simple glass of water. And let's be honest, we shouldn't have to beg for water--it's a basic necessity that should be proactively provided. To add insult to injury, they consistently mess up our orders. It's like they have a competition going on behind the scenes to see who can get the most orders wrong. And when the food does eventually arrive, it's cold and unappetizing. The ingredients are not fresh at all and overall does not taste good. The medium rare 'sizzling' steak came out well done and dry and definitely did not come sizzling. It looked like it had been sitting there forever. Even the oil on the cast iron pan was coagulated. We foolishly decided to give this place another chance because, hey, maybe the food would make up for the abysmal service. Wrong. Not only was the service as horrendous as ever, but this time, the food just did not cut it. By the time we got our horrible food, we ended up just going across the street to get Vietnamese sandwiches, which was way cheaper and more appetizing. Thankfully they comped $100+ of our bill for messing up our orders and for taking so long. Save yourself the trouble and avoid this establishment like the plague. Unless, of course, you enjoy waiting endlessly for subpar food and service that's colder than the dishes they serve. Definitely will not be returning. read more
