It was doused in half yogurt sauce and half creamy tomato curry. - Combo Chicken/Butter Chicken The chicken shawarma was a little harder in texture than expected, but still good with the tangy and creamy yogurt sauce - they were like slightly hardened cut up chicken breast pieces. The butter chicken was very tender and more enjoyable than the shawarma. Both of these platters came with delicious yellow rice, salad, hummus, a random piece of potato, and pita bread that was delightfully chewy and dense. The hummus had a very thin and runny consistency but was flavored well, and the salad was my least favorite item of the platters because the seasoning was too sweet and did not mix well - it tasted like an Italian vinaigrette. I understand the hype with ShaQ in terms of a convenient, quick, and value meal. The beef shawarma half and half came with rice and fries and drizzled with sauce on top. The chicken tikka masala was solid too, with large chunks of chicken breast. It came with hummus and a cucumber salad. Both plates tasted delicious and satisfied our craving. They had a variety of options on the menu ranging from wraps to platters, all at a very reasonable price. Came here for lunch with some friends, and unfortunately, was just not that impressed. Starting off, you order at the counter before sitting down. Ambience is slightly old hole-in-the-wall, with a few tables for dining in. We came on a hot day, and it was definitely warm inside - not ideal, but not too bad. I ordered a half and half platter with half butter chicken and half chicken shawarma. It was pretty average, nothing to write home about. It wasn't bad, just not that great (seems like the theme of this place for me). I was a bit disappointed, as I heard such rave reviews! Service was not bad, but we did have one hiccup. One of my friends ordered a side of falafel, which came in a styrofoam cup. After finishing the falafel, she realized that the heat of the falafel had melted a hole through the cup, so she had inadvertently eaten some styrofoam along with her falafel. We brought it to the attention of the store just so they knew / could correct for future orders, and while they were apologetic, I didn't feel like they responded to the situation all that well. They apologized, but it was a little awkward.. they said "sorry about that", but didn't follow up with something else like "we'll double check that this won't happen again" -- it felt more like an inexperienced response rather than them not caring though. Most of the platter was flavorful but the carbs were a bit lacking, tad dry and dependent on the rest of the food. Chicken Kebab Platter - comes with rice, pico de gallo on some salad, a potato pita, hummus, and two kebabs. I would have preferred hummus on the side because I'm not a big dip person and would rather use it sparingly (e.g. for the pita) rather than have it in my salad and rice. I was excited to see a little middle eastern joint next to a car detail shop. Figured I'd drop in and grab a shawarma. We know I dig shawarma and all those fun cuisines. Place looked clean, kitchen looks clean, meat is on the vertical roasters, lookin fiiine. Staff was nice and welcoming. Even gave me a happy hour discount. Ordered the lamb shawarma cos that's my jam. Had to take it to go. Got back to the pad and spread that to go container wide open so I could squish that lavash and yummy lamby juice into my cheek holders. Smothered in some sort of chipotle sauce of hell. I absolutely loathe jalapeño. This is loaded with a healthy dose of Sysco's version of liquid smoke and brutalized burnt jalapeño sauce which they dub chipotle. The spiced lamb rotisserie is dark, dry, and old. Fries are a nice find with the first street ketchup but sweet for some reason. I'm leaving a two star because of cleanliness and really nice people manning the store. Minus three because I'll be down for the count today after ingesting a sauce that had no business in a lamb shawarma. Shameful. read more
