We needed a fried chicken fix. Places like Popeye's and KFC just don't do it for us anymore, as they never seem to be as crispy as they should be, they're way too salty, and the pieces are getting smaller and smaller. Normally we'd pick up from a Korean fried chicken joint (the other KFC) but decided to try something new. This place is in a tired old strip mall and over the years I've seen businesses come and go, but a few have managed to hold on for the long term. I've noticed this place for at least a few years but never had occasion to try it until recently. We arrived after the lunchtime rush and ordered a 5-piece meal to share with a side of fries and a mango lassi. It took just a short time for the food to arrive at our table, piping hot. The individual pieces were decent in size. The skin was satisfyingly crispy with just about the right amount of salt. The meat was moist, even the breast meat which tends to be drier than the legs and thighs. It came with three different sauces (spicy, BBQ garlic, and regular garlic). The fries were seasoned and were decent, but I prefer just plain fries. The mango lassi was great as a palate refresher in between bites. Prices were good, and the service was great. The guy who took our order and offered suggestions was particularly nice. Looking forward to our next visit, at which time I'll probably try one of their interesting-sounding sandwiches. read more

During those long classroom sessions at Mission College, Halal Fried Chicken quickly became the spot I had my eye on. It was close and convenient, and people have been raving about it. I gave it a shot, and honestly, it really delivered on its promise to serve bold, flavorful fried chicken. I got myself the Bouncer ($15) and an 8 pc. Party Wings ($10) with Mango Habanero sauce. Bouncer (5/5) This chicken burger has more going for it than you'd expect at first glance. I've never had a chicken burger with melted cheese before, but if you are hesitant to try it, let me be the first to tell you that it works. Cheese and fried chicken is a known Pakistani combination. The special spread blends well with the cheese to provide that creaminess that ties everything together. Oh, and that chicken's got crunch to it. Very tender and memorable. Can't go wrong with the fries. Party Wings (4/5) You get a whole chicken fried and served. Enjoyable! The wings have a good crunch to them, and the ratio between batter and meat is right. There's no excess oil dripping, but your fingers will be oily after you're finished. There are plenty of sauces to choose from, and I chose the mango habanero sauce which has a sweet kick. Coat those wings well. If you ever run out, the service will provide you extra. On my first visit, I met the owner, Waqar, who personally served my food. First off, shout out to this place for being a chicken place that's open past 8pm. I don't know why, but most in the area closed early and sometimes you have that Chicken Craving. Anyways, came on a Tuesday late night around 8:30pm and placed an order for a Chicken Wrap (Sixer) since this is all I've been craving. So I waited about 10 minutes and my order was ready. The shop was pretty empty since most people were just ordering online and picking up. I got the store to myself and was able to have a nice plate full of fries and the wraps themselves. Really glad they cook the fries to order and it's not sitting around waiting to be hopefully picked up. Reminded me of McDonalds fries but better. As for the wrap, I wish they would've kept the wrap whole instead of cut in half as there were little shards of aluminum stuck in my wrap which worried me about eating. Which resulted in me picking off some before I continued eating. Besides all that, very saucy, very moist and tender, and the wrap was very fluffy and flaky. They really knocked it out of the park with this one. My only gripe, is I wish they would've made this a combo with a drink as the price was a lil higher than I would've thought for just fries and the wraps themselves. If you're looking for a fried chicken spot with a different flair, this place is worth checking out. Definitely more of a "dry crunch" place, but with a more curry-esque flavor profile that distinguishes it from most other spots that are more Nashville style. My brother and I liked them enough that after a take out order we basically went right back for more in person! If you're here, I'm the fried chicken is definitely where it's at, but I do like their sandwiches and basically come in classic (bouncer), classic + double patty (beamer) and classic + salami (yorker). Spiciness at a medium was rather... not spicy at all (I could barely feel it) so the scale is skewed lower here, so order up a level or two for your spicy tolerance. The textures are a bit more crunchy focused than a moist crunch as the patties were definitely thinly cut than other spots. The cheese, slaw, and sauce definitely makes for a rich combo with more notes of cumin/cinnamon than celery (I swear their sauce tastes of tamarind?). Bread could've used a bit more to compliment it as a whole (like a bit more toasting), but is otherwise a nice fresh roll. Alright honest review time, So was gonna go to chicken Gs but saw that chicken Gs only had sandwiches and no chicken pieces on the side available so instead came here for first time Alhamdullilah we came in the employee at counter greeted us and gave us menus and we sat down, luckily there's some seating room. There was no music or anything bad playing on the tv unlike at mirchis etc so that was good, The food was fresh and the chicken was really good, have no complains alhamdullilah. Had the mango lassi at the end and it was really good I would recommend that they fix the sign since it doesn't light up and it was hard to find the restaurant at first since the sign wasn't lit. Got the Yorker with spicy sauce. All the burgers come with a small portion of fries, so no need to order additional fries. $13.99 - $15.99 + tax for burger is outrageously expensive for a basic place like this, but did I mention how outrageously delicious the chicken burger is? The size itself is monstrously large ( 3x the size of KFC/MCD/ Chick-Fil-A/Dave Chicken/Popeyes) and the crunch of the chicken patty itself LITERAL PERFECTION! I wasn't so sure about the salami, but with paired with the Yorker sauce, it gives the burger a noticeable smokiness that makes it even better. The cheese seems redundant in my opinion though. The fact that this place exist makes me wonder why I spend similar amount of money on chain fast food restaurants that are already charging $10+ per meal, and still deliver less satisfaction than HFC. Great fried chicken and burgers every time ! They have perfected the consistency and the flavor. We usually get the chicken bucket ( pro tip - you can order half spicy and half regular ). The spicy option does have a kick to it and is quite delicious. Their garlic sauce also deserves a notable mention as it is realllly good ! Their burgers are also pretty good - the bouncer is similar to Lados Zinger burger ( although Lados is slightly better in terms of sauce, flavor and softness ). The best part is the awesome and prompt service ! This is where they stand out from the other desi joints in the area. The owners ( when present ) are super nice and polite. They way they treat their kitchen staff is also really nice ! During the pandemic, this had become a regular takeout place for us ( order, grocery shop at Taj Mahal and pick up order to go ). They recently added tables and chairs for indoor dining and eating it fresh was an even better experience ! They have added more items to their menu like naan and paaya and kheer so it looks like they are expanding beyond just fried chicken. Today is National Fried Chicken Day. So I decided the high star rating would be a decent gauge for some good fried chicken rather than take time to delve into the details of the reviews. Unfortunately, I made a bad choice, and HFC managed to erase the memory of my last worst meal. I ordered their 10 piece meal and 20 wings. I actually received nine pieces: 2 legs, 3 breasts, 3 thighs and what looked to be a chicken strip as a ninth piece. (They advertise 3 legs, 4 thighs and 3 breasts.) These pieces were caked in extreme batter and pretty dry. Certain areas were spotted with a nice spice which was clearly haphazardly applied (their version of spicy). Lol The 20 wings were okay but also quite dry and definitely NOT fresh. Tasty, fresh chicken is juicy with soft, pliable meat and a tasty bone - not even close. Lol ANY fried chicken joint is better than this! The biggest joke and more deceptive than shorting a piece of chicken was the "brioche butter bun" that comes with. Let's be clear. It was worse than Wonder bread or any grocery store's generic brand hamburger bun. It was embarrassing to bring home to my family. HFC, please. simply "google" what a brioche bun is. What you present is blasphemous to its French origin. While I'm on the theme of hilarity, check out my photo of the sides. I received more sauce than their Restaurant Depot style macaroni salad and the crinkle fries in the Chinese take out carton are clearly frozen let alone almost commiserating in portion to the "sauce-sized" macaroni salad. It's funny that I originally asked for mash potatoes, but they said would be extra- which I found odd. I figured these sides should be good enough. For $65 these sides were as good as no sides. The fries were flavorless, superbly starchy and zero crisp. I don't even know where you can find fries this awful but perhaps the frozen food section at Grocery Oultlet. Welcome to my compost pile! "Halal" is their only specialty if at all. Beyond that, keep your expectations low and pay a lot more for much less. This is definitely one of, if not one of the worst fried chicken places, I have ever visited. There is no passion in the food which equates to the sullen, austere atmosphere inside. One of the best fried chicken spots in town. Had the perfect crispy skin with soft, juicy fresh chicken. The chicken stays crispy even after a couple of hours. It's a little low key place, and takeout is easier if you're trying to feed a crowd rather than sitting in. The owner is very warm and friendly. We picked up food for our employees, and since our break starts before the restaurant opens, the owner was kind enough to accommodate our request and kept our food ready an hour before they even opened! Bad: The fries were inherently limp (maybe because of the 10 minute walk in a closed box covered in sauce), but it seemed like the base cook was more similar to a baked french fry than a fried one. Decided to check out this place as we were craving fried chicken. We got a non-spicy 5 piece bucket, mashed potatoes, and the garlic googlee wings. The menu says the bucket comes with 2 legs, 1 thigh, and 2 breast but we got no breast. The bucket was also SPICY, not sure if they just made the wrong order or if their non-spicy option is just actually spicy. It didn't taste bad, kinda reminds me of tandoori spices a bit.
