Attentive and friendly staff, and the food was delicious. The bread was great, and the beef patty kofta was well-seasoned. The Sigara Böreği were rich, and there was plenty of bread to enjoy with the dips and olive oil, perfect amount of food overall. The shrimp were huge and tasted fresh. Ending the meal with baklava and Turkish tea was a great touch, perfect for relaxing and slowing down after eating.
The first thing I have to mention is the incredibly unique free bread that is given to the table. It is a traditional Turkish bread that is huge and a nice way to compliment the meal. The portions are not that big by the quality and taste are great. I tried the combination plate and all of the meat options were tasty and juicy. The interior is huge with plenty of seats, and the staff are very helpful.
I don't usually write negative reviews--mostly because I do my homework and tend to choose places I'm genuinely excited about. This one was disappointing enough to feel worth documenting. My boyfriend and I ended up here after attempting to go to Treehouse nearby (which had an hour wait--unsurprising given the concept). This restaurant was a short walk away, which actually worked out well given how congested the area was, and we walked in optimistic. The space itself is very large, but nearly empty for a weekday evening. It felt family-owned and casual, which I usually love--many of my favorite restaurants fall into that category. Unfortunately, the experience didn't reflect that warmth. We were given a different menu than other diners, which immediately felt odd. Service wasn't overtly rude, but it was noticeably unwelcoming--almost a "why are you here?" tone rather than hospitality. We ordered hummus and feta, both of which were surprisingly expensive for the portion and quality. We were told bread would arrive automatically with the hummus, but it didn't--despite asking multiple times. When it finally arrived, it was poorly cooked and no longer served any purpose, as we were already well into the meal. Despite the restaurant being far from busy, our mains took about 30 minutes. One dish--a kebab--was fine but very forgettable for a $30+ price point. My dish, dumplings in a yogurt-based sauce, was honestly inedible. I left it untouched and mentioned that it didn't taste good. The response was simply, "Oh, so you don't want a box?" No attempt to fix the issue or even acknowledge it. What sealed it for me was the overall condition of the place. Dirty cutlery, a generally rundown interior, and a lack of attention to cleanliness made it uncomfortable to eat there. I'm not picky about ambiance when the food and service deliver--but here, nothing quite worked together. The whole experience felt very turn-and-burn, as if the restaurant relies on proximity to a popular area rather than repeat customers. I left feeling like unless you're part of a specific in-crowd, this isn't a place that's trying very hard to win you over. Personally, I wouldn't return, and I wouldn't recommend it--especially given the pricing and the many better options nearby.
I still love this place but I wanted to inform any prospective guests about the honestly and integrity of this restaurant. In short theyre very honest, hardworking people, in a industry that is challenging even on its best days. I got the wrong bill, paid it, tipped on it and left but I discreetly e-mailed the restaurant several days later. They invited me back and paid me back in cash and offered dessert. One time I left my credit card here and they offered me tea, coffee and a snack! I've been here probably about once every couple months and I thank everybody from the bottom of my heart for their generosity. I've reviewed this place a few times already but I think for a group or just a couple, the food here is of the very best quality you can probably have for the money. The service has always been impeccable and Turkey in general is home to the best food, some of the best doctors, and the nicest hospitality in the world. I strongly suggest if there are any meat lovers in the area, make a detour to visit. The meat is all very high quality, cooked over coals, and presented beautifully. Full bar too!
Surprised there were not that many people here during Friday lunch. Probably around 3 other tables. They have complimentary bread with oil and vinegar. It's alright, would be nice if the bread was warmed up. I ordered the Sujuk Pide and Kunefe. First time trying both and they were pretty good. Although, the Pide is much more of an appetizer than an entree. It was basically a cheesy flatbread and the Sujuk is a dried sausage. There wasn't that much Sujuk. The Kunefe was interesting. Sort of similar to baklava, but with cheese and different texture. There was a tad bit too much sugar syrup and butter.
I stopped by on a Sunday morning for some Turkish food from the menu. To my surprise, that was the brunch time. And their brunch is a fan favorite. Everyone was there for brunch. It was $35 for a lot of appetizers, entrees, desserts and drinks. I started of with a soup, which was very nice. Then I went for many rounds of food. Ezme was especially delicious. Beef pastry was excellent as well. Overall its worth it.
Hosted a party of 20 here for a Sunday lunch and the staff was so accommodating and easy to work with. We came in and preordered the week before and we got everything we asked for in a timely manner. We ordered apps of 4 dips, mixed platters of bbq, and a large knafeh (they helped slice and serve), which were all delicious. The chef even came out to our table to check on us and that was really nice. All of our guests were pleased with the quality of food and service, it really made the day special. Would highly, highly recommend (:

So the girlfriend arranged double date night with our lovely neighbor and since none of us have had Turkish cuisine in Sunnyvale, she picked this amazing restaurant. Friendly staff greeted us when we walked in & the exceptional service continued throughout the meal. Our server asked about our dietary preferences then made wonderful recommendations including libation. We ordered more vegetarian choices than animal protein because the photos on the menu looked delicious. Apparently Mangal offers weekend brunch as well so more reason to return
Came for the beef liver and ended up trying a few kabobs too. Everything was delicious and full of flavor. The kunafa was amazing, crispy and sweet, just perfect. Great food, great service, and a nice atmosphere. Highly recommend!
First time here and the experience is very good overall, but not without some disappointments. Among the highlights, the service was excellent and the menu offers a nice assortment of spreads and desserts. We were able to choose a combo of three appetizers from a much larger selection and all spreads were excellent. We had Turkish coffee and sutlac (a creme brulée dessert) that was very good. Where food fell short of expectations, the bread that was served with our spreads was super dry. We ordered lavash flatbread which was much better. We had the branzino fish plate and the food was good, but the amount of work and messiness to debone the fish wasn't worth the effort.
Fun spot to Turkish bbq - we sat outside at the grill tables so we could grill our own meat. They start you off with complimentary bread and rice to eat with the meat. We tried a variety of proteins incl. lamb kofte, lamb chops, marinated beef and lamb shish kebob, sujuk (spicy beef sausage), chicken wings and chicken kebab. Everything was good - the kofte and sujuk were are our favorite as they both were flavorful with a nice blend of spices. The kebabs were good as well but the lamb chops were a bit bland and tough. We got a side of baba ghanoush to eat alongside all the meat and that was a great addition. For 3 people we ending up spending $50+ each so definitely not an inexpensive meal but the food was good, service was great and we had a really fun time. They have few large tables so it would be great with a big group as well.
Some of the best Turkish food that I've had in a loooong time. Service was incredible. One employee (general manager or owner?) was so kind and brought us an extra scoop of rice pilaf on the house as well as complimentary Turkish tea to enjoy with our Kunefe. Food was so incredibly flavorful and fresh. We shared the babaganoush, mixed grill plate, and Kunefe. 10/10 returning the next time I'm in the area and craving some Turkish food.

Food quality was great! The pide was crispy and flavorful. The other meat dish I forgot the name of was also great! Bread (not pictured) was also soft and fluffy, went well with the olive oil and vinegar. The staff were nice and welcoming. Portions did lean just slightly on the smaller side though. read more
Mangal is a hidden gem! We have been passing by the restaurant for years, and we finally had the chance to check it out. The decor takes you on a journey to Turkey. Our daughter enjoyed seeing all the decorations of fruits and the tv playing different scenic picture of Turkey. The staff are super attentive and friendly. Our daughter is 2, and she makes it known with her energy and volume. The staff were understanding and engaged with her, which was a relief to us. Initially, the menu was a bit overwhelming. However, our server, and we assume the owner, walked us through it and provided recommendations. We went with... 1) combo appetizer with the yogurt, atom, baba ghanoush, and picked vegetables. Everything was flavorful and fresh. We deemed it better than Dish Dash's appetizer combo. Shhhh. The baba ghanoush was not as smoky as I am used to, but had good flavor. It was not overpowering. 2) Branzino meal - fish was cooked perfectly. The skin was crispy and flaky. The fish, although thin, was juicy. It came with a side salad and rice. Salad was delicious!!! 3) We got an assortment of meats: 1 shrimp, 2 orders of chicken shish, and 2 orders of filet mignon shish. Everything was amazingly tender and seasoned well. Initially, we thought the portions were rather small, but the food was rich and we had leftovers. The shrimp was a bit overpriced at $6/piece. 4) Their assortment of bread was amazing! Super moist and fluffy! It paired well with the appetizer combo. 5) Drinks: Maker's near and Tito's soda. Decent pour and well-balanced drink. We would definitely like to come back, but skip on the drinks and combo. We probably stick to the dinner meals as well. All in all, a great first experience, and Dish Dash's has some serious competition. read more

I have had this place bookmarked for a while. We finally found an opportunity to try it out a few weeks ago. We made reservations and arrived on time. There was plenty of seating available. We decided to dine inside since it was chilly out. We ordered: Lamb chops: friend enjoyed Chicken: nice and moist. This was better than the beef. Liver skewer: skip this. Weird taste and texture. Beef kabobs: good Branzino : 4/5 this was the highlight for me. Super tasty just a tad on the salty side. Babaganoush: weird color but it was surprisingly good. Hummus: a little bit on the liquidy side but tastes fine. Great place for celebrations and big groups. Turns into a night club with loud music and dancing around 8pm. After an adventurous day of games, food, good vibes with friends and an escape room, we decided to conclude the night with turkish food. This restaurant was beautiful, spacious and great for huge parties. They had plenty of lengthy tables and the ambience was beautiful. It was also my first time seeing that they had an outdoor section where you can cook your own food--that'll be a must for the future. The service was also top notch, every single person there was extremely friendly and disarming, I felt we were being welcomed by warm friends and they gave us the lay of the land on the menu. I ordered the shish kebabs and everyone in our group all agreed that the food was quite fresh. The food was amazing. They gave substantial fluffy bread for us along with balsamic vinegar and very fresh and fragrant olive oil. This place is delicious and the food is high quality. read more
Think Effie's without the 70's decor This place has great food! It's right in front of a hotel that changes owners and names every two years! On Matilda avenue. I took a pic of the menu and I ordered the short ribs and potatoes! It was totally yummy and I will go back for a steak dinner soon. Update: Adding new photos of different items we tried! Their combo app tray is a great way to try all their appetizers since you pick 4 from the menu. We tried all different ones from last time and they were all delicious! This round appetizer picks: Cacik (yogurt, cucumbers, garlic, dill) - classic Saksuka (marinated eggplant) - this was delicious, the marinade flavor was on point and the eggplant was perfect, not too crunchy nor to soggy Acili Ezme (hot spicy tomato dip) - great flavor, it's not too hot or spicy and tastes really good Bastirma (seasoned air-dried cured beef) - one of my new faves, texture is similar to thinly sliced prosciutto but the meat quality is even more legit. - our Bastirma was served with Ezine Peyniri on top (white lamb cheese) which was delicious pairing as well. Love that their menu offers so many different dishes to try, enjoyed our second visit as much as we did the first. Service staff operates like a big extended family feel, warm and hospitable. Aygül was very kind and brought us some dessert samples from the kitchen for us to try -- their freshly made baklava and their kazandibi (caramelized milky pudding), which was delicious, not too sweet and is both traditional (developed in the kitchens of the Ottoman Palace) and one of the most popular Turkish desserts today. The restaurant is spacious and has both partial-space event bookings as well as entire restaurant buyout options available. On a Sat night, there was a DJ and singer duo for a partial-space special event and it was fun to see the festivities from our bar booth where we were having dinner. Yeah this is a long overdue review. I've actually come here 3 times already. One time initially with my friends, one time for my birthday, and one time with my family. First things first I gotta shoutout Umut. Probably best customer service I've ever had in the U.S. Super friendly and helpful. He even remembered me between visits months apart, and offered me a free Baklava on my birthday. Turkish BBQ is truly a unique experience. You order your meat, then grill it yourself on the charcoal grill that's embedded in the center of the table (think Korean BBQ). The meats are your typical Mediterranean / Middle Eastern fare, such as Koobideh, Chicken Kabab, Kofta, Filet Mignon, etc. The flavors are all on point. If you like Mediterranean kebabs, this place is basically that, except you get to grill the meat yourself, which is really cool. There's unlimited rice and veggies with your meal, which I'd suggest you take advantage of. Add a little bit of grilled tomato and sumac to the rice for a perfect bite. Looking back, this place is an awesome place to get Turkish BBQ. The DIY grilling experience is fun and the service is remarkable. The only ding I have for this place is the hefty price, but for the experience you get, imma say worth. Shoutout to Umut again. read more

We visited Manqala for iftar today, and it was a fantastic buffet experience! We left feeling very satisfied. The buffet menu was extensive, offering a great selection of soups, appetizers, salads, pasta, chicken, and meat dishes. Every single dish was well-prepared! In comparison, last week's iftar at another restaurant was a letdown. Their menu was quite limited, and we didn't enjoy it as much. Manqala's buffet, on the other hand, was the perfect choice this time around! To finish off our meal, we treated ourselves to kunefe with marash ice cream, and it was absolutely delicious! The warm kunefe paired with the creamy ice cream was a delightful combination. I highly recommend giving it a try! This not including buffet menu. We ordered this additional. read more
We had our team dinner here last night. We chose to dine outside where the team could cook their own meat. As a vegetarian, I looked at their menu online and didn't see any vegetarian entree for dinner. But they made a falafel dish for me, which wasn't on their menu. The dips they gave us before the meals were delicious. The hummus, tzatziki, baba ghanush, and yoghurt dip were delicious. We ate a lot of bread with these dips. Coming to the falafels, they were delicious. The falafels were crispy, seasoned, and well made. There might not be many vegetarian entree options, but the dips and falafels are plenty. I would definitely recommend this place. read more
I booked this place for a lunch for 10 people. It was nice you could make a reservation for this number of people - the place isn't very busy for lunch on weekdays, and you have the option to sit inside or outside. The waiters were very nice and gave good recommendations. We all ordered pomegranate juice to start with. We also ordered turkish pizza as appetizer which was one of my favorites. The meats then arrived and were the highlight of our lunch. We got beef, lamb and chicken skewers, but gotta say that the lamb chops were fire (literally). To top it off, we got desserts: baklava and kunefe. Each can be shared for up to 3 or 4 people, despite what the waiters might tell you. I'll definitely be back here again!!! read more

Keeping it short and sweet - this place totally deserves its reviews. Food is amazing, meat was tender and juicy. I could eat a pile of their rice. Nice complimentary soft focaccia at the beginning. It's cozy inside with nice decor. Service was good but they forgot one of our dishes, we didn't mind because we ended up being full. Only miss for me was the hurrem sultan cocktail, I couldn't drink it because the taste was so strong and intense. read more
A somewhat intimidating looking restaurant, Mangal Turkish Grill's old fashioned exterior belies it's actually really nice dining area (inside and outside!) that makes for a great dinner experience. First things first: there are TWO menus: the inside dining and outside dining. They do not really explain this to you at the door. The inside dining is like a standard restaurant - you order individual plates or family style platters to share at a table via kiosk at the front, OR you can opt to order from the small area with kabobs, koftas, etc, which they bring out to you after you're seated outside to grill yourself. The grilling is definitely catered to a larger crowd, as each table can accommodate at least 8 people, BUT we went with a party of 3 and still got a grilling table, so it's probably not too much of an issue other than the limited space outside. After a brief explanation by our server Umut (don't eat the bread immediately!), we got our kabobs and started grilling. The steak and lamb were SO tender and SO flavorful, they were amazing. We also picked up a couple of koftas which were really well seasoned and delicious. The prices are a tad bit higher than what I was used to, but the quality of meat was so high and the flavors so tasty honestly I didn't really mind. You can also order inside-menu items for outside, like tzatziki and salad, so unless you're opposed to doing your own grilling, it's definitely worth sitting outside. Overall this spot is solid and judging by how many Turkish families were here, definitely a local joint. Mangal Grill is a hidden gem in Sunnyvale! I've been twice this month since discovering this yummy spot and will definitely continue to return. My party has typically made reservations, but it is never too crowded, so maybe that is not necessary. We love sitting outside with the open grills and are always shocked by how friendly the staff is. Umut and Ara are our favorite servers!! Now onto the amazing food - we ordered a bunch of kebabs - lamb, beef, and chicken. All are amazing but I would say beef is my favorite. It's sooo tender and plus fun to cook up on the grill. With the kebabs come unlimited rice, bread, and veggies that are all delicious!! Highly recommend Mangal to all!! read more
Place is huge and can accommodate big groups which is why we chose it for our monthly work lunch. You can do own bbq on grill but with turkish flavors. Food is good service is great and prices are reasonably. Place lacks design and is a bit quiet Delicious and authentic Turkish food! The complimentary bread was so good i was almost full by just enjoying the bread. For main course i ordered Chicken Thigh Shish. The quantity felt very less and the kebabs were just alright.
