    One-Plate Washoku

Beautiful, modern spot inside the Tetra Hotel! We were greeted with a smile and seated right away. The menu is small but interesting, with something for everyone. Tried the Fundamental Breakfast and the One-Plate Washoku -- the Washoku stole the show! It totally reminded us of Japan (and we LOVE Japan). Service was on point -- coffee refills without asking, friendly check-ins from both our waiter and the manager, and just good vibes all around. Highly recommend for a delicious, relaxing breakfast!

The photo I added really doesn't do the food justice but I cannot stress enough how much we loved this restaurant. The ambiance had a very chill, calm, relaxing upscale vibe. Which was so welcoming considering I had spent the day at standford and needed to decompress. The staff was wonderful, we kind of looked a little disheveled from a day of traveling and being at the hospital so both my husband and I didn't look like we were on a date more like we rolled out of bed and came down stairs for food. However, the staff was magnificent regardless of how we looked. The food, I have yet to have short ribs melted like butter before but these did! They were on the fatty side, so keep this in mind that this is a rich meal, but so worth the calories. The mash potatoes were whipped & creamy with some sort of sauce I couldn't name but I wasn't mad at it. The dish also came with "root vegetables" I have no idea what root vegetable it was.. but they tasted great. My husband ordered the wagu burger and fries, best burger he's ever had. 10/10 we will be back.

I had breakfast here for five consecutive days and was very satisfied. The restaurant is located in the lobby of the Tetra Hotel. During our visit, there were very few people, creating a great dining environment. The service staff were warm and attentive. Over the five days, we tried different breakfast dishes, and each one was excellent. Both the presentation and taste were outstanding.

Great food!! The wagyu burger is amazing. Perfectly cooked, high quality meat, soft delicious bun, solid bacon, can't ask for more! Mixed green salad was super fresh and dressing was very light yet tasty. The empanada was also very good, meat inside cooked to medium, which was a nice touch. It's a bit pricy for the amount of food you get but oh well. Service was decent, polite but not super knowledgeable (she called the chimichurri sauce "salsa verde" ) and a bit slow. Ambiance is ok, it's in a hotel lobby so it's only going to be so great, but it's a nice set up and nice decor.

3 stars instead of 4 based upon service. Waitress was aloof and disinterested. Asked what I wanted to drink and I said coffee and water. Coffee came but no water. Didn't see her again for awhile. Had to flag down someone else. When ordering food, she asked if I wanted butter and jelly with the croissant. I said sure, why not. Breakfast came and with butter but no jelly. Restaurant was not busy so I can't explain the poor service. Food was good but not great. Potatoes were the highlight. Would only eat here again in a pinch or for convenience.

We had high hopes for Adrestia but left underwhelmed and frustrated. Despite having reservations on a slow weekday, service was disorganized from the start, not sure if it was because we were a larger group (8)? We waited a long time to be greeted, and our server seemed confused--when ordering a spicy margarita with mezcal, she asked if that meant no vodka. Drinks took over 20 minutes, (we got a mix of their speciality cocktails, basic cocktails and wine) arriving after our appetizers, and two were wrong. Half the table got steak ($100 ribeye) which came out at the wrong temperatures, and we had to sort it out ourselves. Our server checked in only once, near the end. For over $1,000, the food was decent (scallops were good and I appreciated them making us an off menu pasta dish), but the service was terrible. Not worth it.

Had a staycation at the hotel and was excited to try the restaurant on site. We came for dinner time. It wasn't that packed but it's a pretty dim setting- although I liked the high ceilings. I'm giving 4 stars for service and 3.5 stars for food overall. I did have to flag waitress a few times but for the most part staff was attentive. They are great about refilling water. Food wasn't bad but just a little personal preferences that weren't met. Scallops were the best dish in my opinion. I liked all the textures and flavor. Burrata wasn't bad but the toast felt too "bready" and a little dry. I've had burrata at several different places and just felt could be paired with a different type of bread. However the tomato salad they served with was a hidden boost of flavor. I could probably order that alone. Waygu burger. I ordered medium rare and it was pretty done and not juicy at all. The bottom bun was soggy so I ended up just using fork and knife. Also patty was pretty thick. Fries were plentiful and crispy. Steak was really good and cooked perfectly. The smashed potato crisps were an interesting concept. It was soft but crispy and seasoned just right . The drinks I was a little disappointed. The taste was there but the amount of ice didn't feel like I had enough drink for the price point.

    Wagyu Burger

Service was good, friendly and attentive. Cocktails were good too. Food was lackluster. For appetizers, we got chicken karaage that had thick breading and chicken wasn't as juicy as we would have liked, especially for the price. Entrees were the wagyu burger and wagyu short rib. We asked for the burger to be medium rare but it came well done, and the fries that came with the meal were just okay. The short rib was tender but also a little bit dry for wagyu. In the end, when we asked for our leftovers to be packed, they did not pack our French fries. :(

Adrestia's ambiance and service set a high bar from the moment you walk in. The modern decor and welcoming staff create a great first impression. I ordered the Wagyu Burger, which I had high hopes for. While the toppings were fantastic--crispy bacon, a perfectly cooked egg, and creamy avocado adding a nice richness--the patty itself fell short. I was expecting a tender, flavorful wagyu patty, but the meat was disappointingly tough and lacked the depth of flavor I was hoping for. It wasn't a bad burger, just not the standout I anticipated. On the bright side, the French fries were a highlight. I ordered them crispy, and they arrived perfectly golden with a satisfying crunch. They paired wonderfully with the burger and helped elevate the meal.

Came here for a girl's dinner and loved the vibes of the restaurant, although food fell a little short, with some tasty dishes but also some subpar dishes as well. Located in a hotel, central to the tech neighborhood - it was bustling outside, although a little quiet and empty inside the restaurant. Albeit my friend & I did set for an earlier dinner (around 5pm) which was prob. why it was a bit more quiet. The interior was very nice - modern with some rustic touches, and menu overall seemed to encompass new American fare. Service was fine, overall quick but nothing out of the ordinary - we kind of knew what we wanted to order so no recommendations were really given or needed. Let's Dig In: (1) Little Gem Salad - fair overall, nothing unique or special from what I remember but def. lacking something. (2) Lobster Sando - was super excited for this, but it was actually very underwhelming. Sadly came out to us lukewarm, while the flavor was very monotonous (just tasted like Sriracha mayo) and couldn't really taste the lobster at all. (3) Cornbread - this was super tastyyy! Cornbread came out nice and warm, also loved the house butters on the side which added a bit more salt & creaminess to it. (4) Steak - sadly overcooked and slightly tough as well, flavor was OK nothing special while the plating did look a bit sad. The mashed potato and spinach sides were unmemorable. (5) Branzino - this was pretty good, the fish had a super crispy skin and we liked that it was filleted for us so we didn't have to pick around the bones. The salad on top was refreshing, and sauce was nice and light. (6) Chai Panna Cotta - this was OK, it was very tasty in the beginning but did start to get a bit too sweet after the first few bites. The chai flavor was nice and strong though, which we loved.

Overall I'd give this place a 3.5 I was excited to try this place, it has influences of Japanese cuisine mixed with American food. The ambiance: It's an elevated and classy space within the hotel, but you do feel very much in a hotel lobby still because the "walls" have slats so you can see into the lobby. To me, I think the restaurant ambiance would have benefitted from some seclusion and to feel more private at a restaurant versus feeling like you're in a hotel. The food: - burrata and toast - good flavor overall and the sauce that came with it really added to the combo - cornbread - I like that the cornbread has pieces of corn in it, it's an average cornbread but it's one of their more well known dishes. It comes with two types of butter, one of which is a miso butter, which I enjoyed - mini lobster sando: one of their most popular dishes so we had to try it! It says it comes on their milk bread but I expected it to be a bit fluffier. I love a good lobster sandwich but I felt it was good but nothing special, the lobster was slightly overcooked and the mayo spread with it didn't add much - brussel sprout risotto: I didn't care for this risotto, the risotto itself lacked a lot of flavor and the brussel sprouts lacked seasoning, it needed some salt and pepper The service: Service was good, our server was very attentive! Other things to note: - there is parking for the hotel in the garage and you can give your parking ticket to your server to validate (aka easy and free parking!) - we made a reservation but it wasn't super busy on a Saturday evening

Not a bad restaurant for being located inside a hotel but probably not somewhere I would frequent again in the future... I came with a party of 4 at ~6:15pm and were seated with no problems. The restaurant itself is basically a part of the TETRA hotel lobby and there's no specific sign telling you where the restaurant is either. Nonetheless, ambiance was nice overall plus you get parking validated too. We decided to do family style and ordered 4 small plates plus an entree to share. Unfortunately, they were all out of the hamachi crudo already despite us not even having a late dinner, so we ended up with just 3 small plates. In hindsight, we should've ordered one additional entree because the amount of food was simply not enough. Skillet Cornbread: This was delicious and I loved that it had corn kernels inside. It was paired with both a honey butter and a miso butter, both of which were hits with the table. Cold Smoked Beef Carpaccio: This dish came with tea leaf salad plus a few breadstick croutons that paired well with the carpaccio. Solid appetizer though we would have rather had the hamachi instead if we had to pick between the two (but to each their own). Mini Grilled Lobster Sando: This was probably the highlight of the meal! These mini sandos were buttery, perfectly toasted, and filled with delicious lobster. The miso aioli that came on the side was great for dipping too. Tempura Whole Fish (Thai Snapper for us): While this entree was tasty, it was a bit of a letdown in terms of the price point and how much food it ended up being. There were only about 8 "fish stick" sized pieces of tempura fish, and I wish it came with more of the Korean BBQ glaze as well for added flavor.

There was the Christmas dinner posted at the front desk. I was able to same day book the dinner on Open Table. When we showed up, they said it was unavailable which I assume because a couple big parties ahead of us ordered it so that was disappointing. Other than that above, it was a great experience. Jose and whoever he was training was great, they were courteous and checked on us more than a few times though I kinda wished they just left the water at our table because the glasses were too small. It also says casual on Yelp but definitely a classy setting. This is our second visit, first was when they first opened and they have definitely improved. We started with the cornbread - make sure to always try if it's your first visit, it was soft and moist yet firm enough that it didn't just fall apart and the miso butter paired well. I forgot the other butter. You also need to get the burrata with pesto and rustic bread. I have tried different burratas but this one is the best so far. The burrata was easier to add to the bread and the pesto worked really well. It was also a good serving of bread that was soft and tasty. As we ordered in our first visit, we got another tomahawk steak with potato puree (which was buttered enough) with the other option being veggies. It was cooked properly medium rare and shown before sliced, served with some fire bourbon sauce i think. Man that steak was to-die-for really! Don't be stupid like me and not cut it and almost choke haha. Use the sharp steak knife they served it with and not let the temptation to devour/chomp it down get ahead of you. Oh and they serve it with a hefty amount of mushrooms if you're into that. Oh and wanted to try the lobster sando and they were out too sadly! Tried a hamachi crudo and the chai panna cota before and would definitely recommend too! Would come back and hopefully get to try a prix fix menu (like the Nikkei Chrismas Dinner menu)

You could stumble upon it through Yelp (as we did), discover it while staying at the adjacent Treehouse Hotel, or simply hear about it through word of mouth. The parking situation is an interesting one. After turning into the driveway from Mathilda Avenue, you have two options: turn right for valet parking or left into the Google parking lot. There are plenty of spaces available, though parking there is technically at your own risk. The restaurant told us they had not heard of anyone being ticketed or towed. We first dined here shortly after it opened in 2025 and were immediately impressed by the beautiful grounds. The hotel's eco-conscious gift shop, housed in a glass greenhouse and featuring a colorful vintage VW Bug, is a charming touch. The short walk to the restaurant feels especially relaxing on a warm, sunny day. This has become one of our favorite places to bring friends or host girls' lunches. With three distinct seating options: the dining room, bar, and patio, there's an atmosphere to suit just about any occasion, whether you're dining as a couple or gathering with a larger group. I would recommend visiting during lunch or dinner service and skipping the in-between hours. During that time, only the bar area is open and the menu is more limited. To fully experience what Valley Goat has to offer, lunch or dinner is the way to go. Despite the name, the only goat dish on the menu at the time of this review is the Goat Empanadas. My friend was initially hesitant to order them, but David, our wonderful server, and I encouraged her to give them a try. She was glad she did. There was no gamey flavor whatsoever; the meat tasted more like beef, and the accompanying sauce was excellent. Over several visits, we've enjoyed everything we've ordered and are delighted to have a restaurant of this caliber in our Bay Area backyard. Chef and co-owner Stephanie Izard, winner of Season 4 of Top Chef and an Iron Chef title, owns a total of nine restaurants, primarily in the Chicago area, along with locations in Los Angeles and one at Orlando International Airport. Since we enjoy traveling for great food, we'll definitely be adding some of her other restaurants to our list.

The service was quite slow throughout the evening. We ordered the goat empanadas, wood-fired Mary's chicken, sprouted cauliflower, eggplant, and sticky pork shank. What surprised me most was how similar everything tasted. From the appetizers to the main dishes, the flavors seemed repetitive and lacked distinction. Each dish looked appealing, but none really stood out. Overall, the food felt uninspired, and I didn't get the sense that much care had gone into developing unique flavors for the menu. Given the many 5-star reviews, I was expecting much more and left feeling disappointed. The ambiance is lovely, but I would not return for the food. Don't be misled by the photos, they were far more impressive than the actual dining experience.

The head chef and wife were also working in the back and come out to greet the customers. The concept is quite appealing - Korean food, reimagined with Western influence. Their ingredients are high quality and many of the vegetables come from the farmers market. The menu when we visited was: *Pearl Trio - Raw oysters and roe on a bed of tapioca. I have never had savory tapioca before, but I really enjoy the pairing. The pearls had just the right amount of bite and absorbed the sauce quite nicely. *Braised pork belly - Extremely tender and glazed with doenjang. *Caviar and razor clam - This was a supplement and I was glad we got it. The base was a pillow of steam egg. The pickles on top paired well with the savory caviar. *Organic chicken and gravy - Probably my favorite dish. Doesn't sound that crazy, but they really executed on the chicken. They injected it with brine so it was very juicy. They also air-dried the skin overnight (kinda like Chinese duck) to create a crispy exterior. The charred green onions on the side was a nice touch *Strawberry tart - The spiral design was eye catching. The strawberries added a nice tart flavor and the sweetness was just right. What I find most impressive is that they change their menu every month. How they maintain the quality despite this change really shows how much work they put into it. And the price point is just a fraction of other fine dining restaurants. I think they are able to do this by keeping the food relatively simple while focusing more on the flavors. I will definitely be coming back to try the other menus.

But overall was a boring expensive cold dish and the coffee was just coffee with some milk that I have to ask because the default is just black coffee. The service was excellent, though. Leti was great, smiling, attentive and true customer service.

We ordered cocktails "Flying Ace" and "Cielo Rosa", Forager Flatbread, and Roasted Beet Salad, and cheese plate. The cocktails were fun and inventive, but maybe a bit too complex for us. The Flying Ace was a smoky old fashioned type drink with a charred cinnamon stick. Maybe the wrong choice for a sunny afternoon outdoor venue. The Cielo Rosa, with mezcal and jalapeño has a lot going on as well. The forager had great mushroom flavor and loved the roasted garlic. The first bites were great- wish they could have kept the crust crispier for later bites. (Heated plate works well) The beet salad was really good. The crushed pistachios really contrasted well with the beets.

The vibe is really cute and tons of outdoor space with games. We came in on a weeknight for dinner and a few drinks. Service was a little slow- our cocktails came after our food items, but staff were friendly. We ordered a few items to share. The strawberry salad was a standout, very fresh ingredients and delicious blend of toppings. We did not add a protein but that was an option. I also enjoyed the shrimp and flatbread. The shrimp had good flavor and was cooked well. The flatbread with duck confit had some heavy toppings with goat cheese and thick glaze. Both were a little too rich for me, but I enjoyed them. Our drinks were tasty and fresh. Overall, we had a good experience and I would go again!
