This review is mostly about the food I've visited the location in Pleasanton several times and was craving the chicken sandwich, I was in Sunnyvale area for work and seen there was another location, I was so excited, but that quickly changed to disappointment, the chicken was rubbery and had fatty skin all over , I couldn't even eat it , the chicken tortilla soup was just ok , the flavor is there but again the chicken was off , I don't think I will visit this location again , hopefully this didn't ruin it for me permanently, Pleasanton location was one of my favorite lunch spots but I'm kind of grossed out now The two stars is for the staff , very friendly read more

Like a regular restaurant they bring the food out to you and you can even see the chefs cooking at their station which is interesting to watch while you wait. The grilled steak sandwich was pretty good, the steak cooked perfectly and had nice juice to it with warm bread around it. The fries were also pretty good. The most impressive thing was that from order to get food was less than 10 minutes even with two other people dining with us. Urban Plates really does a great job of fast food convenience but with genuine, good food. I got the sides mac n cheese, which was eh and kinda cold, and also got the quinoa which was good. My partner got rainbow carrots and potatoes, and they're decently flavored and cooked thoroughly. We otherwise got a burger and a crispy chicken sandwich for later meals, chicken sandwich could've had more pickles but it was cooked well! The menu has a decent variety of items overall and I definitely want to come back to try more. We've also tried hummingbird cake here and it's pretty good, not my favorite cake but a fun dessert. We got takeout this time, but we've dined in before and service is friendly and efficient. With takeout our food was made really quickly and still plenty warm when we got home. There's a large covered parking right next to the restaurant, and pickup is right at the front door. We visited around noon on Sunday, and it wasn't too crowded. The restaurant had a spacious and relaxing atmosphere. You can order from the touchscreen or by scanning the QR code on the table, which is nice since you can see pictures of the dishes before ordering. Braised Beef & Mushrooms: You can choose between mashed potatoes or rice. The red wine sauce went really well with the slightly spicy rice. Chicken Tender Plate: You can pick two sides and two sauces. I liked that you can also add soup for an extra charge, so the plate is a great option if you want to try a bit of everything. We came here for lunch. First time at this location. It was really busy in there. There was a bit of a line to get to the register to order but it did go by quickly. This location is much larger than the Santana Row location. They have a large enclosed patio seating area and quite a bit of seating inside. It was freezing inside but with an open kitchen and a lot of people, I can see why they keep it extra cool inside. The great thing about urban plates is their menu options. You get to customize everything to your liking. I chose the seared ahi tuna with a side Caesar salad and a cup of tortilla chicken soup. My husband got the tzatziki grilled chicken with roasted carrots and beats, a side house salad and a bowl of tomato soup. We also got a side of grilled shrimp. We found a table and got our iced teas at the self serve drink spot. Our food was delivered quickly. Everything was hot and fresh. The salads were refreshing. We both loved our soups. Our entrees were cooked perfectly. Their hummus is one of my favorite sides. The shrimp skewer was delicious. The shrimp were cooked perfect. Love Urban Plates but the quality has gone done. My husband and I ordered via the tablet as we weren't sure what we wanted. A worker did come and say he could take our order, which was nice he offered. I ordered the two piece tender plate with a side Caesar and Mac & cheese while my husband got the truffle steak with a side of truffle fries and the mushrooms. We also got a dragon fruit refresher which was super yummy. Overall, the food was delicious but some items were cold while others were hot. Example, Mac and cheese was cold while the tender was hot since I'm assuming they just fried the tender. My husband steak was also cold and very tough. Very unevenly cooked as the middle was medium rare while the sides were overcooked and tough. Can't expect much for $24 for that plate but wasn't as good as I previously remember unfortunately. I've been to this particular location a handful of times every time I go there always seems to be a line. I really like their Ahi tuna as well as their hummingbird cake, which is similar to a carrot cake but just different fruit flavors. I really like how it's an open communal area for seating so if you have a bigger party, you just need to make sure you find the room, and they have an outdoor/indoor seating area as well as an actual indoor area. They also have beer on top, but everything else is pretty much self served, but read the menu ahead of time!!
