Let's do the good first. Clara's Junction gets 5 stars for the space alone. It's a legit, much-needed spot for the South Bay -- a cool indoor/outdoor bar setup where you can watch sports, hang out with friends, bring your dog, or chill with your kids. The atmosphere is easily the best part of the experience. The problem is the food just doesn't match the price. The burger looked pretty small for $19, even if it was one of the cheaper burger options. For that kind of money, you can go to The Stand in Santa Clara or Hella Good at San Pedro Market and get a lot more food that tastes better too. The nachos looked great when they came out, but once you started digging in, there just weren't enough toppings to go around. Too many bare chips underneath. Compare that to places like Big Al's, where the toppings are actually distributed well and you get plenty in every bite. The pretzel was good, and the beer cheese had good flavor, but it was also a little grainy. Overall, the space is great, but the food is very mid, especially for the price. You can get better-tasting food and more of it for the same money elsewhere. That's a shame, because the location itself has a lot going for it -- but for us, the space alone isn't enough to bring us back, especially with places like San Pedro Square offering much better food at a similar price point. read more

The outdoor area is beautiful, with a huge covered seating section and plenty of lounge chairs that make it easy to relax and enjoy time with friends. The staff is friendly, the food comes out quickly, and the menu offers a nice variety of options. I tried the chorizo croquettes, which were flavorful and cooked perfectly, though I personally would have preferred a different dipping sauce--something like La Vic's famous orange sauce to complement the spice. The cilantro-green ranch-style sauce they served didn't quite hit for me. My husband had the burger and fries and really enjoyed it--said it was well made and full of flavor. Shoutout to Stanford! We came in before the Morgan Wallen concert and this place was chaos central , full house, and apparently the whole staff called out. But Stanford? This guy is a LEGEND. He was running the entire place solo and still managed to be cool, kind, and totally on top of it. My family and I decided to come here for a Father's Day and we had a very pleasant time. We came around opening and the vibes were chill. We were confused how to get a table, but the server(or he felt more like a manager?) told us we could sit anywhere. They do have QR codes, but he told us they do like to personally take orders too when it's not too busy. We sat outside in the shade of the umbrella and I ordered a salad with salmon. The kids order kids meals with burger and fries nad chicken tenders, and my husband had a burger as well. As soon as I walked in i already decided that i was just going to order food at a place next door (shoutout Chicken Meets Rice 5/5 stars) while my friends ordered from there. Trying to find parking close to the restaurant was a little difficult but there were plenty of parking away from it. Id also like to mention our waitress, raven, that catered to us only for the day. One of my favorite dog friendly bar! They only have outdoor seating and sometimes have food trucks in the patio. Parking can be very limited and you may have to find street parking during busy times, but whenever I went it was pretty empty. The vibe and atmosphere of the place is super nice, and it's a great place to chill and hang out with friends. However, the food itself is mediocre. The only food option that I really liked was the burger meat patty-- which is somewhat fatty and crispy, and I love how they can also cook one for your dog as well. Cocktail drinks are also not the best... but it's just good to enjoy one while sitting outside. They had several TVs and had the volume up to stream the playoffs, which was what we wanted and why we chose to come to the restaurant. I've had this place on my to-visit list for a while now, and some friends and I finally stopped by last night. They have an outdoor area with tables and cornhole, as well as indoor seating which is very industrial-style. It wasn't super busy when we went although it was around dinner time. When you go in it's not super clear if you're supposed to seat yourself, order at the counter, or order at one of the booths if they're open (they have a bbq one and another one, but they were both closed when we went). Some of the tables have QR codes to order and some don't. Eventually we just sat down inside and hoped that's what we were supposed to do. We were there for a few minutes without being greeted and were about to just get up and leave but someone finally brought us menus. We ordered nachos, an Arnold Palmer, the Zucca, and the CJ smash. Both sandwiches also came with fries. We didn't order the nachos with any meat, and they didn't come with a lot of toppings. There were a lot of plain chips left on the plate after a few minutes. The flavor was just alright but I wouldn't order them again. I did like the beer cheese they put on it though. The burger, sandwich, and fries were incredibly, incredibly salty. I love french fries and could only finish a few because of how overwhelmingly salty they were. Depending on what you are having the fries with, I'm not sure the herbs on the fries will always pair well. I didn't finish the burger because of how salty everything was. My friend said the sandwich was better than the nachos. Our waitress was MIA after we received our food, so we finally flagged down someone else to ask for the check. She was upset that we asked for a heater outside and seemed bothered when we requested a new cup because it had lipstick stains along the rim. Great new spot! I love really close by and came by on a Friday for happy hour. At first, we weren't given a happy hour menu, but got one after we requested for it. I got the croquetas and the chicken tinga tacos. The croquetas were delicious and loved the spice. The chicken tinga tacos were a little dry for my liking but can't complain for $10. I think having a nice salsa on the side would definitely elevate it but I just like sauces in general so may just be me! Their cocktail selections were great too. The inside is on the smaller side but the outside is huge! Plenty of seating with heaters and TVs, perfect for game day. Trying to catch up on my reviews. After a good day at the range, my buddy and were hankering for some barbecue. We found this place on Yelp and decided to give it a try. It was a good choice. We ordered a combo platter from The Pit, which is their barbecue menu. I'm still a little fuzzy on why there is a difference from the Pit and their in-house menu. But, the platter was on-pointe. Up in the Pub Fairly new brewpub located in the shadow of Levi's Stadium, at the old Carl's Jr. that had held down this spot for many, many years. This is a large location that is purportedly 18k-sq-ft "social gathering hub" that, on certain nights (Fri - Sun), features not one, not two--but three separate restaurants on-site. They have a taco truck, American BBQ stand, and a full-service bar/restaurant. We went to eat at the latter, as a burger and beer sounded great. The Good: *Friendly service *20+ beers on-tap plus a full bar *Great selection of hot sauce at the table--and you don't even have to ask! *Private lot to park, plus street parking. *The Whole 9 Yards Burger was solid and delicious. I really enjoyed the fresh compliment of veggies on top, brioche-style bun, and the beef was tasty, albeit slightly over my requested "medium." The fries were crispy and terrific. *Carissa (aka The Salmon Queen) said her Pan-seared Salmon plate was cooked perfectly and the smashed potatoes were a real hit with both of us. The dish did lack a little seasoning, but nothing the concomitant salt shaker at the table couldn't fix. The Meh: *Suya Wings were tasty but desperately needed some kind of dipping sauce as they were dry and definitely not fried-up fresh. *While they do have a large beer selection, it was really disappointing seeing that they were mostly macrobrews and very little local brews. The closest were from Ft Bragg and San Diego--not exactly "local." The Ugly: *Pricing is geared towards the 9er gameday crowd, as almost everything there was absurdly priced. $12 for a pint?? I've only paid that at Michelin-starred restaurants, and not a brewpub. They really should consider two menus: gameday (i.e., $$$) and non-gameday (i.e., $$). Just a thought. Conclusion: Overall, the food and experience was good but with those prices I will probably not be in any rush to return. Pretzel was average, croquettes average, tacos were not good in our opinions. We didn't like the fish tacos and the birra might be the worst I've had in the bay. Had lunch here with my husband today after a tech conference at the Santa Clara convention center. The backyard patio was nice for lunch. The apartments and area is all new after the Carls Jr was torn down. I'm doing keto diet and the restaurant was nice about accommodating my food preferences.
