We went to Birk's for dinner on a Thursday around 6 PM and were surprised that the restaurant was already quite busy. There were many business dinners going on, which makes sense since it's located near the Marriott and several tech companies. The three of us were seated by the window, and the service was very welcoming and attentive. We started with the fried calamari with parmesan, garlic, and herbs, it was very flavorful, and the texture was just right. For our main dish, we ordered the CEO 20-oz wood-smoked prime rib with creamed spinach, cooked medium-well, to share. The server kindly offered to split it into two plates, which was very thoughtful. The prime rib was tender and good quality, although I still personally prefer Lawry's The Prime Rib. The Brussels sprouts were also very tasty. We also had the house salad and soup, which were standard but good. Overall, it was a great meal, more than enough food for the three of us. We couldn't even finish the prime rib and had to pack the leftovers. Looking forward to making a prime rib sandwich tomorrow! read more

He always provide top-notch service and is the best waiter with all the restaurants we've been to. He remembers what your preference is and I don't have to say a word to remind him at all. My friend was in town and this is one of her favorite restaurants. I have never been here before, she said they are known for their prime rib. Service was decent, attentive when needed, but they pretty much left us a lone except for when it was time to fill our waters. The atmosphere was nice, your typical steak house feel. Came here last Saturday for the first time. Had no idea it was here since it's wedged in between some commercial buildings in Santa Clara. Plenty of parking and they have indoor and outdoor seating. We sat inside and for awhile we had our own little private area until more people started coming in. Very good service. Our waiter and the timing of the food was perfect. We started with the Hamachi Crudo as our appetizer. Fresh and a good starter. We shared the blackened ribeye which comes with garlic mashed potatoes and bacon infused creamed spinach. I've had better ribeye but it was still good. We also shared a caesar salad. They split the portions up for you so you don't have to divide it up yourselves which was nice. We don't drink but we did get both mocktails they had on the menu which were very good and refreshing. For dessert we had the crème brûlée. It was just the right amount of food. I came here on a recommendation for a nice steakhouse dinner during a work trip. I sat at the bar and chatted with another solo business traveler while I waited for my meal. I ordered a negroni, and then a glass of crisp white wine for a night cap, both of which were good. My meal was the crab cakes and the executive salad with grilled chicken. The crab cakes had great flavor and were full of crab meat and not filler carbs. The salad had a nice crunch and the chicken was well seasoned and juicy. First time trying this Steakhouse and have to say enjoyed it from the moment walked in until the moment walking out. Our server this night was excellent and made the evening enjoyable , we always had our drinks full and plates moved when done. No appetizers this time , but the main course came out in excellent time , cooked to perfection and for the sides , the portions were generous. Very well plated and great visual presentation. The wedge and Caesar salads we good , those did not overly impress , but then the steaks. Moist , cooked as ordered , and just darn tasty. For dessert had the crème brûlée , and like the salad good with the addition of the fruit , a little thick in proportion to the thinner outer layer but worth the try , will try another after meal next time but did enjoy it. My hubby and I had such a wonderful meal at Birk's that we were already talking about our next visit. From the moment we walked in, we were welcomed like old friends and seated right away at a very comfortable table. Our server Hannah was an absolute gem. She was warm, attentive, and somehow always appeared at the exact moment we needed something. Her team was just as great and present when needed without ever hovering. I ordered the small filet with a lobster tail and it came with perfectly cooked broccolini and dreamy mashed potatoes. Every bite was delicious. My hubby ordered the seafood pasta and this is where the magic happened. There was no cream sauce pasta on the menu, but when he asked, Hannah checked with the chef who happily created one just for him. It was so thoughtful and the dish turned out fabulous. He also loved his IPA and we finished with a little Key lime tart that was spot on. Since we were celebrating a special occasion, the staff surprised us with a slice of cheesecake. We were so full that we brought it home, but the gesture made our day. Everything from the service to the food to the warm atmosphere was wonderful. The crab cakes were served with mango salsa, herb aioli, and arugula salad. The cakes were tasty and filled with shredded crab meat. A solid starter. * Pork Chops -- I ordered the pork chop; well done. The presentation of the pork chops was appetizing. The two chops were the perfect size, seasoned, and cooked well. The chops were accompanied by mashed potatoes and creamed spinach with bacon. * Filet Mignon 8oz -- This entree was served with mashed potatoes and sautéed spinach with garlic. The filet mignon was seasoned well and cooked correctly to be medium rare. The proteins were executed and well-seasoned. The sides were delicious. All in all, when it comes to steaks/chops and the sides, keep it simple and do it well -- that's what Birk's accomplished. Our drinks were good. Was craving some prime rib and wanted to try this place suggested by my buddy. It was a good choice and I could confidently suggest it as well. Not knowing what to expect, I made reservations for 6:00 pm. When we arrived, it appeared that it was not necessary because their were only a few tables occupied. This was great because it gave us time to catch up with drinks at the bar. The appetizer: We had the flatbread and the fried calamari. Both were very good and will probably be my Go-To appetizer. The main course: I had the 12oz cut (Chairman) and it was just the right size. I'm a big eater, but know that I would not have finished the 20z cut (CEO). It was cooked to perfection--tender, firm and flavorful. Each bite was enjoyed like it was the last. I asked for my steak to be cooked medium rare and it seemed like the people who got medium was more red and tender than mine. The lobster was a little on the dry side, but still very good. I also got their seasonal sorbet, which was pear. Loved their sorbet, they also give you two bug scoops. Service: The servers were super nice and quick to serve you. Birks is a nice steak house to come to in a very industrial area with many work offices in the area. There's ample parking in the parking lot and a few EV chargers next door at Santa Clara towers as well. The bar area can be a little noisy but the dining area is slightly more quiet. I would recommend a reservation if you want to be seated immediately, otherwise after 7-715pm on a week night you might be able to get a table quickly after arriving. The food and drinks here are pretty solid. This is a nice place to go for a business meeting or a place for a celebration. The waiters service is fairly prompt and the food takes a reasonable amount of time. I started with a Caesar salad which was pretty average, could've used a little more dressing as I was eating a lot of unflavored crunchy water. We also ordered bone marrow as well as calamari to get us started. The bone marrow is yummy but won't really fill you up, I really enjoyed the onions and garlic bread that it's served with. Calamari is pretty average with heavy breading and not that crispy/crunchy. I did enjoy the scallops quite a lot and it was in a buttery sauce with gnocchi and green beans as well. Everything about this place is incredible... plenty of parking in the lot (with a security robot), great ambience inside the restaurant (they also have a bar and outdoor seating available), attentive waitstaff who give detailed explanations about menu items, quick service for our order to be ready, drinks were just wow (especially that Sundown cocktail... so tasty!), and every single dish we ordered (entrees and sides) was phenomenal, I can hardly put it into words. We got the chairman prime rib, pan seared duck breast (from the Valentine's Day menu), truffle mac and cheese with lobster meat, and sauteed mushrooms. The last two sharables were my favorite items... simple delicious ingredients, not too salty, and perfect consistency, noticeably more unique and addicting than what I've had at other eateries. But the main dishes were amazing too, with just enough fat to add flavor on the meats. Food portions were decent, so we had plenty leftover. Can't say enough good things about this restaurant!
