Expected more from a steakhouse at this price We came to Birk's as a party of six, and none of us left impressed with our steaks, which is a problem for a steakhouse. The trouble started at the door. The dining room was nearly empty, yet the host tried to seat us right next to the serving station. We asked for a different table, and it set the tone for the evening. Service was slow throughout. My mother-in-law ordered the creamed spinach and got plain spinach instead. The prime rib was extremely average, nothing you couldn't get at a chain for a lot less money. Across six entrées, not one steak stood out. To be fair, the mushrooms were good, and the staff were genuinely friendly with our children, which we appreciated. But friendly service and a good side dish don't make up for slow service, a wrong order, and forgettable steaks. For what Birk's charges, the food and service should be much better. read more

How have I lived in the area for 20 years and never been to Birk's?! I did a quick Yelp search for lobster tail, and I'm so glad it led me here. Birk's has that classic steakhouse feel with white tablecloths, attentive service, and an elegant atmosphere that's refined without feeling stuffy. The lobster tail and filet were absolutely outstanding, perfectly cooked and well worth the visit. We also enjoyed a bread pudding for dessert which was worth it! The service was equally impressive. Birks is definitely becoming one of my go-to spots. The food is absolutely amazing every time. The scallop crudo was so fresh and delicious, and the beef carpaccio was another favorite. You also can't go wrong with the calamari--it was perfectly crispy and full of flavor. The prime rib was cooked perfectly and was SO good with the mashed potatoes and creamed spinach. Birk's is nestled in a rather unsuspecting office/business complex. Parking is plentiful, and there's not much to look at outside. However, the second you walk in, it's almost like you've transported to a different area! We made a reservation one day prior for a Saturday night and it happened to be my birthday! Once we walked in and gave our name, we were welcomed very warmly and there were smiles all around, from hostess to waiter to server - lots of good energy. The restaurant was abuzz with many large groups celebrating, and the comforting sound of glassware and silverware lended to a nice atmosphere. We were brought to a nice corner table and immediately given water. Our waiter was supremely nice, saying thank you to US when we were constantly thanking HIM for being so attentive. We were told about the specials, and my husband and I also ordered a mocktail and cocktail. Both were excellent. We ordered bread service, the tomahawk, calamari, Brussels, and crab Mac and cheese. In hindsight, we probably didn't need that much food but the menu was too exciting and we LIVE FOR Brussels and Mac. The bread came out and was excellent. I could've just eaten baskets and baskets. There was a warm garlic pretzel, a crusty and fresh French, all paired with incredible house made butter. Yum. The calamari arrived first and the serving was so plentiful. Crispy, meaty, accompanied by delicious marinara sauce and tartar. I loved that it wasn't overly breaded and that the garlic really came through every bite. The tomahawk and sides arrived soon after, and everything somehow managed to look better than the last. It was fresh, hot, all cooked to perfection. The Brussels were bursting with flavor and had the perfect char and crisp, the Mac was indulgent and creamy and the crab was plentiful, and the steak...wow. We both ate a little of each dish and within twenty minutes we were stuffed. To top it off, a sweet treat was given for my birthday and it was a yummmmmmy cheesecake. Came here to celebrate birthday with a friend and it was a very pleasant luncheon experience. This is a classy restaurant located in the middle of high tech offices and is perfect for business gatherings. It is pretty good size with three main dining areas. There's also a nice bar. Food has always been good here. This time we shared a Caesar Salad which was very good size for an appetizer salad. I had the Chilean Sea bass while my friend had their signature Pork Chop. Lost count of how many times I come back here for lunch. The food is consistently great, which is why I keep returning. We started with Fried Calamari topped with Parmesan, garlic, and herbs. This is not ordinary fried calamari, the batter and parmesan herb topping really make it stand out. Chilean Sea Bass is always my favorite. The fish was fresh and flaky, came with seasoned rice, spinach, and a delicious yuzu-soy sauce. We also ordered the Pan Seared Scallops, it was beautifully presented with Yukon potatoes, sugar snap peas, cauliflower medley, and watermelon radish. The scallops were large and perfectly seared. Another favorite of mine is the Steak & Lobster. I ordered the filet mignon medium, it was tender, juicy, and full of flavor. The lobster tail was enjoyable with fresh and spongy lobster meat. For dessert, we shared the Banana Streusel Bread Pudding. It was served warm and paired with vanilla ice cream and caramel dolce sauce. We also had the Molten Chocolate Cake with mint-berry compote. It didn't quite have the expected lava center, but it was still rich, creamy and not too sweet. The Key Lime Pie was the only dessert item that didn't impress me. It was just average. It's located on the ground floor of a condominium building, and honestly, just looking at the building from the outside, you wouldn't even know there was a restaurant there. I ordered the **10 oz filet mignon** with garlic mashed potatoes and bacon-infused creamed spinach. The filet was amazing! It had a perfect char on the outside and was cooked exactly as requested. I also felt like you get really good quality for the price. The steak was easily a **9/10**. The garlic mashed potatoes were good but nothing too memorable. I'd give them a **7/10**. Unfortunately, the bacon-infused creamed spinach wasn't really to my liking. I couldn't taste much, if any, bacon flavor, and I ended up not eating it. I'd give the spinach a **5/10**. I also ordered the **truffle mac and cheese with lobster**, and this was amazing. The truffle flavor was perfectly balanced without being overpowering, and the lobster was cooked perfectly--not chewy at all. This was definitely a **9/10**. If I come back, I would order the filet by itself and pair it with the lobster mac and cheese. For drinks, I tried the **Viva La Vida**, and this was easily a **10/10**. Great flavor and definitely one I would order again. I also tried the **Reposado Old Fashioned**, which was excellent as well. It surprisingly gave me the feeling that I was drinking bourbon, even though it was made with reposado. I'd give this a **9/10**. We decided on Birk's to celebrate my husband's birthday after watching a Tik Tok. We arrived about 30 minutes early, but they were able to accommodate us and the restaurant wasn't busy. We started with the bread service and the Oysters Rockefeller. Both were great! For my entree I got the smoked Prime Rib Executive 12 oz Cut with creamed spinach and mashed potatoes. It was delicious but I took about half of it home. My husband got the Rib Eye, also with creamed spinach and mashed potatoes. The cook on both were perfection! For dessert they gave him a complimentary cheesecake, and I ordered the creme brulee. Both were excellent, and I had more than my share of diary being lactose intolerant and all. It was definitely loud and busy, but the staff was able to seat us at the kitchen bar overlooking all the action. We went to Birk's for dinner on a Thursday around 6 PM and were surprised that the restaurant was already quite busy. There were many business dinners going on, which makes sense since it's located near the Marriott and several tech companies. The three of us were seated by the window, and the service was very welcoming and attentive. We started with the fried calamari with parmesan, garlic, and herbs, it was very flavorful, and the texture was just right. For our main dish, we ordered the CEO 20-oz wood-smoked prime rib with creamed spinach, cooked medium-well, to share. The server kindly offered to split it into two plates, which was very thoughtful. The prime rib was tender and good quality, although I still personally prefer Lawry's The Prime Rib. The Brussels sprouts were also very tasty. We also had the house salad and soup, which were standard but good. Overall, it was a great meal, more than enough food for the three of us. Came here last Saturday for the first time. Had no idea it was here since it's wedged in between some commercial buildings in Santa Clara. Plenty of parking and they have indoor and outdoor seating. We sat inside and for awhile we had our own little private area until more people started coming in. Very good service. Our waiter and the timing of the food was perfect. We started with the Hamachi Crudo as our appetizer. Fresh and a good starter. We shared the blackened ribeye which comes with garlic mashed potatoes and bacon infused creamed spinach. I've had better ribeye but it was still good. We also shared a caesar salad. They split the portions up for you so you don't have to divide it up yourselves which was nice. We don't drink but we did get both mocktails they had on the menu which were very good and refreshing. For dessert we had the crème brûlée. It was just the right amount of food. I came here on a recommendation for a nice steakhouse dinner during a work trip. I sat at the bar and chatted with another solo business traveler while I waited for my meal. I ordered a negroni, and then a glass of crisp white wine for a night cap, both of which were good. My meal was the crab cakes and the executive salad with grilled chicken. The crab cakes had great flavor and were full of crab meat and not filler carbs. The salad had a nice crunch and the chicken was well seasoned and juicy. No appetizers this time , but the main course came out in excellent time , cooked to perfection and for the sides , the portions were generous. Very well plated and great visual presentation. The wedge and Caesar salads we good , those did not overly impress , but then the steaks. Moist , cooked as ordered , and just darn tasty. For dessert had the crème brûlée , and like the salad good with the addition of the fruit , a little thick in proportion to the thinner outer layer but worth the try , will try another after meal next time but did enjoy it. My hubby and I had such a wonderful meal at Birk's that we were already talking about our next visit. From the moment we walked in, we were welcomed like old friends and seated right away at a very comfortable table. Our server Hannah was an absolute gem. She was warm, attentive, and somehow always appeared at the exact moment we needed something. Her team was just as great and present when needed without ever hovering. I ordered the small filet with a lobster tail and it came with perfectly cooked broccolini and dreamy mashed potatoes. Every bite was delicious. My hubby ordered the seafood pasta and this is where the magic happened. There was no cream sauce pasta on the menu, but when he asked, Hannah checked with the chef who happily created one just for him. It was so thoughtful and the dish turned out fabulous. He also loved his IPA and we finished with a little Key lime tart that was spot on. Since we were celebrating a special occasion, the staff surprised us with a slice of cheesecake.
