Cielo is open seasonally, and we finally visited during (*at the very end of*) their Winter Experience. I think traditionally, you need reservations for Cielo, but their Winter Experience (ran through December and mid-January) is first-come, first-served. The Winter Experience is a Christmas-themed set-up - very tastefully and beautifully decorated - with Christmas music (even 2 weeks after the New Year). the tables along the edge have small in-table fire pits AND a tall heated furnace - you will not be cold in December. these tables do require a minimum spend of $50 per person, which we came into this expecting that regardless - however, it sounds like you can sit at any of the other tables without this minimum spend, though you will only have a blanket for warmth. the sunset was beautiful, though keep in mind that we do live in a city, and there are other tall buildings around, so don't set your expectations too high. Overall, we are so happy we finally checked this place out, and that we were able to do so during the Winter Experience. We did find it overpriced (considering it's at Hotel Valencia... we weren't surprised) for what you get. I tried one cocktail (~$20) that tasted like a flavored soda, before switching to wine; my husband had 2 Old Fashioned, they were both made differently but both good. The food was good - small, shareable portions. We're happy to have finally stopped in, but I wouldn't go out of my way to come again. HOW TO GET THERE: enter Hotel Valencia from the ground floor; take the elevator to Floor 3; go straight down the hall, pass the front desk on your left, to the second set of elevators; take that to the top floor

Located on the seventh floor of the Hotel Valencia in Santana, Row, this place is perfect for unobstructive views of the sunset while enjoying drinks and small bites. There is an outdoor bar with ample lounge-seating for a small group or for date night. Portable heaters are situated around the patio to provide warmth on cool evenings. Drinks and small bites menu are accessed through a QR code located on the tables while orders are placed with the server or at the bar. Drinks are good but pricey ($16-20). Overall this is a beautiful spot to just lounge on a WEEKDAY evening since it's not crowded at all.

Very pretty views from the middle of the city! We watched a gorgeous sunset while enjoying drinks. The bartenders are nice you have to go up to the bar to order and have some snacks as well. The drinks are definitely Santana Row prices- start at 16$ but a nice place for a quiet date night!

Great table if you can get one with the fireplace

Great drinks, amazing view! With limited rooftop bars in the area, Cielo delivered! Very friendly bartender and host. Got a great table with fireplace and watched the sun go down. Perfect place to take visitors. Go up to the 3rd floor in the elevator to the left of the lobby entrance. Walk across the hallway past the cafe outside on the right, and take that elevator to Cielo. Enjoy the views!

If you're looking for some good drinks with a view in the area, this place is it. It's a little complicated to get to but the views, especially at sunset are worth it. Perfect spot for a date night in the city.

Always an amazing time here, during this unprecedented time of the pandemic, they only open for private events. We came for the Rombauer Vineyards wine dinner was amazing. Every event we hosted here or attended. It was always amazing. Excellent service, wine and food were delish. Can't wait for them to reopen to the public again! What an amazing sunset view here!

Wine & champagne with a view. Excuse the snapchat filter.

My friends and I normally start here before heading over to VBar since it closes at 9:30pm (& it's seasonal). Cielo is a quiet & relaxing spot to come to with a group of friends if you want to talk-- unlike the rest of the bars where you have to scream at the top of your lungs to be heard. If you order appetizers from the menu, keep in mind they take a while to grab your food-- so order right away! The guacamole & chips we ordered took 20 minutes to come out. And you don't receive a whole lot of it. * There is no happy hour at Cielo, but you can bring your drinks from VBar up to Cielo! * There is 1 fire pit- perfect for chilly nights.

Many of these reviews should go in the V bar which is on the third floor. This place is only opened seasonally and there is NO happy hour. Call in advance before even coming here as this place gets booked out. Finding this place is a trek. You have first an elevator to the third floor, and then another one down the hall to the seventh. This seems more like an open space for hotel guests than for visitors. View was not impressive whatsoever. The fans on the top of the other buildings are roaring as you to try to enjoy the view. There is also no waitress serving you up here. You order at the bar and the menu looked very lacking. We just came to snap a couple of shots and left for dinner at Santana Row. Pity...this is the best rooftop bar that all of San Jose can come up with...=(

Are you guys open in February 2021?

Are you guys open for reservations in June 2019?

Hi! I see the manager responded to a previous question stating Cielo would be closed until May. Is it now open? Thank you.

Hi! I wanted to bring my boyfriend to enjoy a date night in the rooftop Saturday 1/5/19, is the rooftop open to the public or do reservations need to be made?…

I'll be coming there after my elopement with my husband and some friends. Would it be possible to bring cake since we'll be ordering a lot of drinks and there isn't many dessert options?

Is there an email to contact for private events inquiries?

    Call Jonathan Whitwell - Director of F & B. 408-423-5415. He's awesome.

Is it wine only or do they serve liquor and beer as well?

The music was really loud and I couldn't hear the conversation of the person with me so the Asian bartender helped us turn down the music a little. It wasn't until mid evening that I realized there was another bar in the back. The bartender told us the cocktails at Alter Ego were more fancy. Definitely instagramworthy! Tried two of the cocktails at Alter Ego. Overall, both have different vibes. Alter Ego is good for a more intimate dark setting date vibe. Service was pretty good at Still OG! The Asian bartender checked in several times and was really nice as well as provided some recommendations on which happy hour specials were most popular which helps since I'm indecisive. The back does seem like a more classy environment and I'd choose this setting over a dive bar any day. The music at still OG that they were playing at the time wasn't my cup of tea, but I'm sure they mix it up from time to time. I would love to hear some oldies!

The front was pretty full so we checked out Alter Ego first, but they were also full with nothing available until 11pm, so Still OG it was. You grab a spot yourself and then order at the bar. All cocktails are on tap, which actually ended up being great because I was between a few of them and the bartender was able to give me samples of them. We also ended up getting an order of the Chicken skewers, which were super tender and juicy. We were too late on our visit, but they do have a daily happy hour that includes some of the skewers and fries, as well as some drinks and shots. Service was super friendly and vibes and music were great! Cocktails, weren't the best since they were on tap, but still good enough! I would absolutely come back here for a drink and snack though!

My husband and I had a baby free night out to celebrate my birthday and haberdasher did not disappoint. I was even wished a happy early birthday. When going into the bar, you walk down a staircase into a space that makes you forget you're in downtown San Jose with beautiful reds and burgundy decor. The staff is all smartly dressed; the bartender and bar back were both sweet and funny. I ordered a jack rose (my all time favorite), their seasonal watermelon waltz (this may be a new favorite for me, nice and refreshing) and one of their zero proof cocktails called a Mariposa which was soooo good as well. I walked in and stood waiting to be seated while an employee, who appeared to be the owner or manager, continued talking with her kids instead of acknowledging customers. I don't mind waiting, but a simple "We'll be right with you" would have made all the difference. I decided to give them another chance. On a later visit, I spent a few hours working there and ordered drinks. When a friend joined me, he sat down and was completely ignored. No one came over to greet him or ask if he'd like anything. We eventually had to flag someone down just so he could place an order. After that, our server mentioned that Tuesdays were buy one, get one free on wine. I ordered my second glass, but it never arrived. When I asked another server about it, I was made to feel like I was inconveniencing them. The irony is that I would have happily paid full price--I wasn't the one asking for a deal. They were the ones who brought up the promotion, then acted bothered when I politely asked about the wine that was never delivered. The final straw was our most recent visit. We were seated at a table by the staff, only to be told a few minutes later that we had to move because the tables were supposedly reserved for the party sitting behind us. We moved without making an issue of it, but no one ever ended up using those tables for the entire time we were there. It was frustrating to be relocated after being seated, especially when the explanation didn't match what actually happened. At this point, it's hard to view these experiences as isolated incidents. The common theme has been inattentive service and an attitude that makes customers feel like they're an inconvenience rather than guests. There are too many great wine bars that genuinely appreciate their customers for me to spend any more time or money here.
