Did not feel safe!! My friends and I were waiting to get on the elevator, so when a group of guys also arrived. As I was walking to get on the elevator one of the guys tried to hold me back against him and wrapped his arm around me. I had no idea who he was. I pushed him off me and told his friends to get him away from me. As he walked away and our elevator door closed he called me/my friend a group of wh*r*s. I told the staff/security when we got to the top and they said they'll "keep an eye on them". They proceeded to call my friends and I the b word as we walked passed their group. Then two other girls complained how the same man that grabbed me tried to pressure them into leave with the group of men. When they said no they were also called "wh*r*s". Great vibe! Haven't been here in years but was in town and friends wanted to check out a bar. It was abnormally quiet as we went on a Monday night and Warriors were playing (so everyone was at Yard House). But drinks were good and it was a chill place to catch up. We popped into Vbar inside the Hotel Valencia probably right when they opened on a Saturday while on Santana Row earlier for other business. I was initially a little hesitant being a hotel bar but realized we had been here before. So up the elevator we went. Dim lights, almost no one here, and cool bar. Perfect. We started at the bar which was wide open and later moved to the cushie seating area in the dark corner. Wink, Wink. As the night went on it got crowded, really crowded. The lines at the bar were long. Licky for us because we got there early the bartenders knew who we were and all I had to do was get off the couch and stand on the edge of the bar to get served pretty darn fast. Big tip coming your way. Awesome upbeat club music the whole time so we stayed for awhile. Better wine list than most and totaly adequate food menu. I know the true alkies can drink all night without food but we like some food. When we left the whole place was packed like a sardine can and people had been looking at us all night like when are these people going to ever leave so we can fight over their seats. I though about auctioning them off but it's a little unpredictable doing that with people who can't hold their refreshments. We wedged our way through the crowd, hit the elevator and noticed a huge line with security to get in. Glad we missed that nightmare. So get in early and stay late and don't be intimidated by people wanting your spot or your partner. When in the area we will be back if we can get in early. read more

This place is in a prime location which is right on the Santana Row strip and it offers an intimate yet lively vibe that's perfect for a night out. I loved the combination of indoor and outdoor seating, especially the narrow balcony that gives you a great view of the strip if you want to take it all in from above. The bartenders were awesome! Very cute lounge inside of hotel Valencia, this was a regular spot for me when I lived in the area. You definitely have to know about this place or be staying in the hotel to find it since it's not on the street level. It can get really crowded on the weekends. Recently me and my friend stopped in on a Saturday afternoon. It was pretty low key and luckily they also had happy hour specials. We ordered a round of lemon drops and shared the truffle garlic fries...the fries were tasty! Service was a little slow since our server was also bartending...overall a great experience! read more

Although this is probably one of the more expensive bars in the area I love the vibe. It's a super lively place with a decent amount of indoor seating. I used to come here regularly when I was in grad school, so it brings back memories, taking those elevators up to the third floor of Hotel Valencia. The place is still as lovely as I remember, upscale, with dim red lighting inside and an inviting outdoor space with a beautiful fountain at the center. During my recent visit, the outdoor space was covered and felt like it was heated inside the patio enclosure, a perfect setup during the colder season. There was plenty of seating available throughout on a Sunday night, bar seating, lounge seating, and outdoor seating. It was nice to have options, rather than the weekend crowds I remember. We got a few cocktails (wild watermelon, raspberry lemon drop, and moscow mule), and they were all made well, tasty and strong... as I'd expect based on the high costs. Service was standard, not super attentive, but good enough. However, they tried to overcharge us $30 extra! Honest mistake, maybe, but I think it's careless, especially for a place that charges $20+ per drink. It was quickly fixed, and we still had a good experience regardless. read more

Came to this bar to celebrate a friend's birthday on April 26th around 8:30pm. This place is great, although drinks are on the pricey side. I will say I think it's unfortunate to have a security guard at the front of the establishment who is unpleasant and mugs the people coming into spend money. My three friends walked to get our ID's checked and the security doesn't say one word to us after we said hello. Meanwhile he's checking our ID's he is bending them in half nearly damaging the card. I point out that he's doing that to our cards, and proceeds to keep doing it. If you're the first person that guests interact with you should set an impression not turn off customers. read more

This is the best lounge on Santana Row and probably in all of San Jose. Usually come in to meet up with a few buddies and then have a few drinks and the night always turn into such a good time. The menu was updated, but I wouldn't know since I order the same negroni all the time. I sometimes switch it up with a Tequila spritz but that's rare. Only shots and Negronis for me. The inside is very classy and upscale unlike some of the other Lounges in the area. You meet some of the most interesting people at this lounge. Service is always top notch, especially when you have the best bartender in the bay working there. If you ever come through ask for Bruno and he'll take good care of you. This place is GHETTO and not the same as it was years ago. On a not busy Thursday night, a couple of guys were getting aggressive with the women I was with. I went to tell them to leave and naturally the guys wanted to fight seeing I was the only guy with a group of girls. Security pulled me off and stood next to us as if we were the aggressors. The aggressive guys live on Santana Row and were friends with the security. To make matters worse, as I was intervening , 2 others guys tried stealing my to go bag from the restaurant we ate at earlier. V bar has always been my go to when I'm in the area! Great spot for a drink after work or with the gals for a night out. The dim red light is a vibe. I personally love the Santana 75 and Barbados and Blackberry. Such a cute view of the row during the day and with the street lights at night. They don't have gluten free beer options, including no ciders available. 'My girl and i ended up sitting outside on a small patio that over like the front part of Santana row (yard house directly across). After being seated i can't remember if we ordered drinks or not, but we did order pork belly baos which weee pretty incredible. While waiting for the baos to come out truffle fries were presented with a strong truffle flavor which was amazing. Before anything else came out, there were several men tha tswarmed around my friend aand i starting conversations with us, and it almost seemed as if they were taking turns haha. Me bring me sat on my phone and just took funny pics of my friend engaging in conversations from these random dudes. Unfortunately none of them were good because they didn't offer to pay out bill or order a drink on them. Finally they all left and had a chance to eat the baos. The pork was seared and was probably cooked in a pressure cooker as the fat just melts in your mouth. All enclosed with a fluffy dim sum bao bum. I'm in love with the truffle fries over them guys. The vibe on Monday night is still hopping! The clientele and red lighting made me think of Spectre. The music was spot on. I was on a recon mission for 3 IG model types....Shhh Maya was delightfully warm and greeted me. She made sure everyone was of appropriate age before entering. Bruno was behind the bar. He is super helpful. A young lady there (a deeply tanned young Monica Belluci) always wanted to try the White Gummy Bunny Martini. Heavens! There's a first time for everything. (And the music was loud. Plus I'm hard of listening; not hearing. I think that's the Martini's name. Haha!) Bruno affirmed that it was a beautiful drink. He deftly crafted the martini. The process invoked flashbacks of Tom Cruise in Cocktail, but the vibe I was going for wasn't Mission Impossible; it was Casino Royale. The drink turned out to be very Bond afterall! No, it's not a Vesper. But we can certainly rename the White Gummy Bunny Martini and call the drink Monica Belluci. A sweet Italian knockout! Drink up! KAPOW! Lights out! Thoroughly enjoyed the view from the balcony at dusk. Watching the row become lit up with the string lights and lights in the trees as it got darker was the perfect view while enjoying my cocktail. I visited during Negroni week, so of course I had to indulge in one. The drink was nice and strong! Had a red hot cinnamon taste which was great on a cool evening. To eat, I enjoyed the mushroom flat bread, which had a sherry balsamic on top that truly brought the dish to life and gave it a lot of flavor. I also got an order of the roasted cauliflower, and I don't know why, but cauliflower always tastes so much better at restaurants! Seriously, it was cooked to perfection and I need to know their secret! Service was great, and bartenders were nice. I've been here mini times before. Always had a great time and two of the bartenders are super nice and remember me when I come in. It's hard to beat the view and the ambiance of this bar on Saturday and Friday night. The reason I give it 3 stars is because last night, the manger there made the whole experience super awkward. We ordered drinks with this bartender who remembered me from the previous times I had gone. He didn't ID me because he had IDed me previous times and remembered me. All of sudden, while he's getting our drinks the manager comes over and loudly yells "did you ID them" the bartender says "no, she's a regular" and then the manager got super mad. The manager also kept staring at my friend and I and literally came outside to the patio to stare at us and listen to what we were saying. BTW, my friend and I are both 24 and 23 so we're not underage at all. I don't understand why the manager kept staring at us weirdly. If he really thought we weren't 21, then he should've just asked for our IDs in the beginning instead of giving us looks when we already got our drinks lol It made the experience kinda awkward and it was just unnecessary. read more
