He was playing all the hits and the vibes are immaculate. There were two tables celebrating birthdays and two brides that night. I thought it would be nice if the DJ gives my friend a shoutout since she's wearing a bride veil and all. He didn't, and that's ok. But it would have been really cool. Even though we had a confirmed reservation, we were asked to move tables more than once. My friends planned a surprise for my birthday here, but unfortunately it turned into a huge disappointment. We had a reservation and arrived on time. We were seated, ordered our cocktails, and before we had even finished our drinks, a staff member came over and told us we needed to move to another table. I honestly couldn't even understand what she was saying. When I asked why, she couldn't explain it herself and went to get the manager. The manager came over, put both of his hands on our table, looked at us, and said, "Yeah, what's the problem?" in a surprisingly confrontational tone. I hadn't even complained yet--I was just trying to understand what was happening. So I replied, "Actually, what's your problem?" He clearly wasn't expecting that response because his attitude immediately changed, and he started explaining that the table had another reservation. Fine. It wasn't ideal, but we thought maybe someone had specifically requested that table, so we moved without making a scene. Then, just a couple of minutes later, the same manager came back and told us we'd have to leave that table in about 45 minutes as well because it was also reserved. At that point I asked, "I also made a reservation. Why are you treating us like this? Are you trying to get us to leave?" That's when he finally admitted the real reason: those tables were being kept for customers ordering bottle service. What I don't understand is: * How did you already decide we weren't going to order bottle service? * If those tables are reserved for bottle service, why aren't reservations managed accordingly from the beginning? Honestly, it felt like the moment they saw we had only ordered cocktails, they wanted to replace us with higher-paying customers. The funny part is that we had arrived early on purpose. We planned to stay, enjoy the night, and order bottle service later once the place got busier. The saddest part is that my friends had put so much effort into planning this birthday surprise, and the whole mood was ruined. We ended up leaving instead of celebrating. Ironically, after we left, they texted us to apologize and even offered us a discount if we came back. If you know your service was bad enough to require an apology and a discount, maybe that's a sign something is wrong with the way you treat your guests. The world out there on Almaden Avenue is a meat grinder. Concrete, exhaust, people with deadlines and clean shoes pushing each other into early graves. It's dark inside, the kind of dark that hides the lines on your face and the mistakes in your head. They've built a damn jungle in there, green leaves and shadows, a truce with the city outside. I didn't want a scene; I wanted a drink. The bartender looked like she'd seen a few things herself. She didn't give me a lecture; she gave me tequila. Neat. None of that sugar-water other places serve to the tourists. It hit the throat like an honest word--hot, sharp, and true. If you aren't drinking agave neat here, you're missing the point of having a mouth. If you must have a cocktail they have those dialed in, just to keep your feet on the ground. Early on, the place has a quiet tranquility. It's a lounge for survivors. You can sit under the fake canopy, look at the water, and feel like you've escaped the whole damn century. Later, the lights drop lower, the bass starts to rattle your ribs, and the DJs turn it into a different kind of animal. But if you catch it right, when the room is still breathing easy, it's one of the few spots in this valley where a man can find an honest glass and a corner to forget his name or roll in with a crew and really send it. It's the best vibes here and I love this place. If you want an intimate and not too loud experience with dark and sexy lighting inside, this is your place. I came on a Saturday and whatever dj that brought the late 90s/2000s vibes, keep him in rotation! The bar is beautiful and I love all the different bottles of tequila. This is perfect spot for date night if you don't want to go out dancing but want to have conversation with good music or just hanging out with friends and catching up. The hostess is very nice and always smiling. All staff here are very nice and seem happy to work there. I wish they had Bailey's because I love creamy carajillos with just a small touch of Baileys but their caraillo is decent and hits the spot. I also came here for the grand opening and they had a very simple drink menu so I would love to see new or seasonal cocktails, and craft cocktails added here in the future, but I know, baby steps as this place is brand new. They messaged me apologizing for my first impression experience and wanted me to give them a chance by texting to someone so he can host me and whoever I bring. The photo they uploaded has nobody but the workers in there. So this must be the owner. If you are wanting to gain crowds, maintain a good rating. Do not go in and start making random reviews just to boost your ratings and maintaining it at a 4.0 or higher, also do not make your employees make reviews just to maintain a high star ratings. If you wanted to make it right. You should've messaged me alone and maybe things would've been different. I am very disappointed because I was going to give this establishment another chance. I came back here a few weekends ago with a few friends. There was a security guard who was being really sweet about the wait, and he was saying he was going to do his best to see if we can get in. There was, however another person there, not sure if he's the manager, but he definitely gave the presence that he was in charge, and the security guy said he really couldn't do anything unless this guy approved it. The manager guy was very rude and immature. I had asked politely if it was possible to get in, since there were several people leaving. He just had such a bad attitude, it felt like talking to a teenager. It seems like the role this man has for his job might be overwhelming for him, there should definitely be someone else at the front door. They're a new spot that's still in their soft opening phase, so seems like not many people know about them yet. Upon entering, there is a little bridge and waterfall, along with some foliage and little twinkling lights on the ceiling to give you the impression that you're in the jungle under the stars. Their shelf of liquor looked beautiful and impressive. The lighting is kept very dim and the music is not too loud, which makes it an ideal place for a date or catching up with friends. The prices of their cocktails seem very reasonable as most were $13 or $15. Although, their menu is very limited. Also, no food menu. My group got the Margarita, Carajillo, Cosmopolita, and El Diablo. I liked my friends' drinks, but was not a fan of mine (Carajillo). Terrible service, we made a reservation for 4 people and we had the Obligation of a minimum consumption of 300 dls in bottle service, when they gave us our table we asked the waitress for beers apart from the bottle, and it turns out that she could not bring beer, that we had to go to line up at the bar to order them, approximately at 12 am a couple of friends arrived who were leaving the Shakira's concert, and we couldn't add them to our table, unless we bought another bottle, since there was an hour left for them to close, but we accepted and asked for a little more space, since the VIP tables, That they were on one side of us were empty! And the person in charge told us NO !! that we could only use the Space we originally had for 4! And at 5 minutes several people entered that VIP area and they were not consuming, there were approximately 7 people with only a couple of drinks in their hands , and they want us to pay an extra $350 dollars aprox , so that two extra people could sit at a table of 4! And we had to go line up at the bar to order beer or any other drink, so what is the Sense of the VIP service, and why is it not the Same obligation for all customers.???? For very good atmosphere and good place, it's useless if the service is terrible .... we never come back to this place... we visit a lot of bars in San Jose for many years and this place could be a great place to visit but just if you Walk in, a couple drinks and that's it!!!!
