Great small bites. The octopus was a standout with squid ink toast, shrimp gambas & corn elote was really good. Cocktails were great too. We really enjoyed our meal.

A friend and I decided to spend Galentine's Day with dinner at this place. The reviews and the menu looked great, so I made a reservation for Friday at 6:00 p.m. Since this is in downtown San Jose and parking can be awful, I called ahead to ask about parking availability. Jon returned my call and mentioned that the parking structure across the street offers free parking for the first 90 minutes, with minimal charges afterward. This is usually true unless there's an event at the SAP Center, in which case parking is paid. On the day of our reservation, we left early to account for traffic and parking. I'm glad we did, because I couldn't initially find the parking structure and spent about 10 minutes circling downtown. Eventually, I took a chance, and parking ended up being easy to find in the structure that evening. From there, it was less than a one‑minute walk to the restaurant via the San Pedro side. There's plenty of outdoor seating. I didn't notice heating lamps, but I assume they have some. The restaurant faces a street closed to traffic, so there are only pedestrians and rickshaws, which makes it very pleasant to sit outside without dealing with cars. We chose to sit inside since it was chilly. We were seated immediately, though it took a while for the server to come over--I had to catch her eye to get service. Once we did, the service was great. The menu features small plates meant to be shared, though the prices are standard. We shared a cheese board with three cheeses and accompaniments, a plate of three small empanadas, a beef slider, and beignets for dessert. The total came to about $100. The restaurant was almost full and noisy, which was expected, but the music was unnecessarily loud. The bread and cheese were delicious. The empanadas could have been better (they lacked flavor), and the slider was satisfying. After the small portions for the main meal, we were pleasantly surprised by the beignets--we received six generously sized beignets with caramel and chocolate sauce, and they were the highlight of the meal. There were plenty of vegetarian options on the menu, as well as some gluten‑free choices. I also tried the bubbly flight, and the pours were generous for the price. The drink menu is extensive. Overall, it was a great evening with good food and drinks.

Okay, we love the food and the drinks here, the ambiance is great, yet what kills me is at how inefficient this operation is and it only seems to be getting worse. This is our 3rd time here and it's gotten amply worse with each go over the last year. Management needs to figure it out and decide on being a high end restaurant with wait times or registrations, not churning people that are borderline pissed off like I was waiting for 40 mins with a half empty restaurant. On Super Bowl Sunday weekend, you can't be shedding people from line with a freaking half empty restaurant as this looks and reflects really badly on District. My three suggestions for improvements to help destress your staff and also optimize the operation to give it this very high end feel that it has and can be: 1) Limit the food menu as right now it's too diverse and clogs the wait times for food turnaround 2) Reduce the kinds of cocktails that are made or create a set specialized menu to not bog the bartender down with side drinks 3) Remove reservations from being an option or tighten up the reservation timeframe to reduce downtime in the restaurant This restaurant was operating at 50% capacity today following clean-up from a party that ended 3 hours prior to us showing up after 8:30 pm (party ended at 5 pm) and the fact that there were reservations and people not there on time nor accounting for the Super Bowl weekend is such nonsense!!! You also are stressing your staff out who understand time pressure and do not need to feel this from inefficiencies set by ownership. Food pictured below and definitely wanted to enjoy dessert yet couldn't give another 30 minutes of our time here tonight. Hopefully this changes in the future so we can come back and until then, I gave this place 5 stars for the first 2 rounds and had high hopes that it would change in between after settling in further and it hasn't.

My foodie Friend and I were walking her dog and we were actually walking to the coffee shop down the way when she noticed their sandwich board sign out in front stating they had happy hour and! We had to go check it out!! I went to the bar to ask if we could sit outside and the bartender gladly seated us after checking the weather app on his phone! So sweet! It was actually raining often on earlier and we didn't think about it! Lol we were really just excited about oysters! The drinks were perfectly balanced with a little kick thanks to the bartender, Travis and the oysters were freaking huge!! It was two for one during their happy hour, so we got a dozen and two well drinks! The Moscow mules were perfect!! We were thoroughly impressed with the ambience inside the restaurant as well as their rustic modern look. Outside it was a traditional patio lake setting with heat lamps! We will definitely stop by here again, and I can't wait to try their other drinks. They also had a number of wines. More for us to try next time!

Date: Thursday, July 17th, 2025 Time: around 5:15pm Party of: 3 What: Happy Hour, every day from 5pm-6pm *2 for 1 Happy Hour Oysters by the half dozen ($21) *Happy Hour Fries ($9) *Happy Hour Elote ($9) *Happy Hour Ceviche ($9) *Happy Hour Deviled Eggs ($9) *HH Paloma ($9) x4 *HH Old Fashioned ($9) x3 *HH Moscow Mule ($9) x2 *SJ Mandate: 6 ($8.28) I haven't been to District in I don't even know how long. When the boys wanted to hit up happy hour, I was down. I remember they had a pretty good HH menu? Food wise, we basically ordered everything except the arancini and chicken wings. All food offerings were $9 each. They also had $7 drafts and $8 wells and wines. We stuck to the $9 cocktails and tried all three listed. The oysters were a lil pricey for HH at $3.50 each. The elote they cut into "ribs" so I found them a lil hard to eat. Everything else was good to munch on while sipping our drinks. When we arrived, we were one of the few groups here so just grabbed 3 seats at the bar. The bartender was lovely and let us get all our HH special orders in before it ended. Had a great time. Would definitely consider coming back for another HH. REVIEW #3818

Came here for drinks and Esmerelda helped us out great. We were in a rush so we only got drinks but looking around us the food looked great. I will be coming back next week to try out their fry chicken and caviar and their oysters for sure for happy hour. It is a nice and relaxing here, not crowded and no rush at least for 5:30pm-7pm

We were trying to get our waitress, Esmeralda, for 10 minutes looking to order our last batch of happy hour menu items at 5:50 pm. Apparently that is too close to the end of happy hour at 6 pm because you're going to wait longer than 10 minutes to even be able to flag her down. I saw that she was being a host and bringing people to their tables outside while I was inside a table inside trying to flag her down without being too aggressive. When I was finally able to flag her down, it was 6:03 and she said there was nothing she could do to get in the last happy hour even though we've been trying to get her. And after I mentioned that, she immediately became defensive and said she was always nearby and it was our fault for not being able catch her earlier. I understand that's good that she was seating people and that it was busy but you can't blame me for missing the happy hour time when I've been trying to call the one waitress over. I think this restaurant needs to get more waiters who are not double shifting as a host too or at least check up on people near the end of happy hour so they're not missing out and leaving a bad experience. Or better yet, just increase their happy hour past a literal one hour. Overall the food is good, drinks are good, the service is too slow at times. I'd come again but I guess I'm not happy about this experience.

I highly don't recommend this place if you're vegan. They had a menu out front, so we checked it out to make sure they had options for us before we went in. They did, A handful of things to choose from. So we thought. Upon ordering the vegan dishes. The waitress said that there's no way they could make it vegan or substitute the dish because it was premade. We asked why it was listed as a vegan option, she said the person who made the menu must have not known what veganism is. The drinks were...meh. Came out in tiny glasses, no one in our party enjoyed them. When we asked for water or napkins from a different waiter, we got attitude back. Overall not a good vibe or place to eat from our experience. I unfortunately did not capture a menu while we were there but here's an example of their menu from google, showing vegan options when there's clearly not.

Came here for happy hour and walked in--light crowd, very chill atmosphere. The cocktails we tried were sweet and flavorful, exactly my kind of drinks, and the service was efficient. Food was a highlight: the French fries with aioli were addictive, and the chicken wings were solid too. Happy hour menu had great variety and excellent deals--definitely worth checking out if you're looking for a casual spot with quality drinks and snacks. Oysters also on the happy hour menu! Overall, an enjoyable experience. I'll likely come back to explore more of their menu.

District has added a caviar bump to its menu since I last frequented this location! I stand by my belief that this is /the/ corporate dining location in downtown San Jose! Everyone can order family style for the table and nothing is really meant to be had individually. I find that at company events if people can order for themselves, they tend to do so. Our table had 10 people and we did not sign a contract this time. We came on a Tuesday around 5 PM and were able to be seated after the servers pushed a few tables together for our party. The caviar was fresh and served as it should be- on a marble spoon lying atop pink sea salt contained within a seashell. We ordered approximately 60 oysters for our group- clearly the best Happy Hour deal they have to offer! The tuna crispy rice was good, the wings were well seasoned albeit veering towards the saltier side, and the ice cream trio (mint white chocolate, vanilla, and muscovado sugar) was very creamy and well done. I preferred the mint white chocolate and vanilla to the muscovado sugar, I found the molasses aftertaste a tad too imposing.

Absolutely floored with everything that they have on the menu we stopped in for a nightcap and the wine list is massive. I definitely will say I'm coming back to try the caviar

Went on Sunday night the day before Cinco De Mayo. Went at 8pm and was fairly quiet with just a couple tables full. Looks like we had just missed the live band. Ordered a couple drinks-the mai tai and wheat beer. Both were good albeit small for the price. For food, we got the arancini balls, fries and risotto. It all tasted good and was glad to have veg options.wanted to try the butternut squash pizza but they were out of some ingredients. Note that the server said the chef does not come in on Sundays. Total was about $90. Expensive but enjoyed the place, the food and the drinks. Our server was friendly.

We visited the place after 11 pm on saturday. We had espresso martini and mai thai with whipped burrata cheese and prosciutto. It was very tasty. And the bread it comes with is another level of deliciousness. Ambiance was perfect, service was top notch. Drinks were on point. I especially paid attention to the bartender, he was super clean. He was washing his hands after each drink. I wish I asked his name. To cut it short, we will def be back!

Do you still offer weekend bottomless mimosa brunch?

Hi David, we stopped serving brunch after Covid. We don't have plans to reopen brunch, BUT we are opening for Sunday dinner starting this weekend. Doors open at 4PM.

Are there non diary cheeses available for the pizzas?

Hi Josh, we do not carry non-dairy cheese but we can make our pizzas without cheese for those with intolerance to dairy.

    What time is Happy hour?

    Tues-Sat, 5-6PM

Is happy hour only available at the bar?

Christine B. Is correct. Happy Hour is everywhere in District. Happy New Year!

Do you validate parking (there's a big lot, multi-level lot across from you)?

Hi Laurie, yes we do. See you soon.

Is Happy Hour offered throughout the whole restaurant or is it only in a bar area? Some places only offer happy hour prices at the bar. Thank you 😊

Happy hour is from 4-6 PM Mon-Sat. Does that answer your question?

    Do you have vegan options?

Yes, just ask your server for options. Some are vegan as is and other dishes can be made vegan on request. We look forward to seeing you.

Is brunch only on sundays now?

    Yes, Sundays starting at 11AM.

Do they have a space to just grab drinks/lounge area?

Hi Maya, yes we do. You can see pics at www.districtsj.com.

Is this place 21+ only or can you still eat here without getting alcoholic drinks if you're underage?

Hi, you can still eat at District if you are underage. We start checking IDs between 9 and 10 PM on Fri and Sat nights.

    Do they serve bottomless mimosas?

Yes on Saturday and Sunday if you order the Bottomless Brunch.

All of the food that we ordered was genuinely so good. I still think about the BUCATINI (tom yum butter, lime, garlic and basil) and would solely come back for that dish. I walked in and stood waiting to be seated while an employee, who appeared to be the owner or manager, continued talking with her kids instead of acknowledging customers. I don't mind waiting, but a simple "We'll be right with you" would have made all the difference. I decided to give them another chance. On a later visit, I spent a few hours working there and ordered drinks. When a friend joined me, he sat down and was completely ignored. No one came over to greet him or ask if he'd like anything. We eventually had to flag someone down just so he could place an order. After that, our server mentioned that Tuesdays were buy one, get one free on wine. I ordered my second glass, but it never arrived. When I asked another server about it, I was made to feel like I was inconveniencing them. The irony is that I would have happily paid full price--I wasn't the one asking for a deal. They were the ones who brought up the promotion, then acted bothered when I politely asked about the wine that was never delivered. The final straw was our most recent visit. We were seated at a table by the staff, only to be told a few minutes later that we had to move because the tables were supposedly reserved for the party sitting behind us. We moved without making an issue of it, but no one ever ended up using those tables for the entire time we were there. It was frustrating to be relocated after being seated, especially when the explanation didn't match what actually happened. At this point, it's hard to view these experiences as isolated incidents. The common theme has been inattentive service and an attitude that makes customers feel like they're an inconvenience rather than guests. There are too many great wine bars that genuinely appreciate their customers for me to spend any more time or money here.

Food is amazing. Nice ambiance and pleasant music inside. Love the yellow fin tuna and salmon…read moresashimi, cream mushroom soup, pate appetizer and their coconut cod entree. Will definitely come back to try other dishes on the menu.

We were the only customers the entire hour we were there so hopefully the business can survive. The…read moremenu has novel items and the food overall isn't mind-blowing but tastes great. We ordered both of the bruschettas in the starters section (honeycomb burrata and porcini pate) and I was a bit surprised they came on untoasted bread because I'd been picturing baguette slices. They were both tasty because it's hard to go wrong with an umami ingredient like pate but if I really think about it, both of these dishes were things anyone could throw together. There wasn't any special seasoning made by the restaurant or anything. For entrees, we ordered the Paris by night truffle lover bifteak (filet mignon with truffle cheese on sweet potato) which was just okay. We ordered medium rare but the entire thing was a bit chewy and slightly dry. Could taste the truffle on the Parmesan cheese when alone but not when eaten with the sweet potato. The Persian saffron gheymeh lamb ossobuco (lamb shank with stew and dill basmati rice) was delicious though! Lamb was incredibly tender and savory and the spiced split-pea saffron stew went well with the fluffy rice. We'll probably return to try the recommended cod and tiramisu because overall it was pretty good.
