My friends and I came here before a concert nearby. My friend made a reservation but there was plenty of seating around 6pm on a Friday evening. This was my first time here and the interior was very very nice! When we arrived the hostess took us to the back area which is more enclosed. There was no one else over there and it seemed a bit away from the main room so we asked to move to the front room where there was more going on and it seemed to be a bit of issue where to seat us even though there were plenty of table open? I thought the hostess should have asked which room we'd like to sit in. Our server came over shortly after and he was very nice and attentive and first took our drink order. I don't drink alcohol but my friends ordered drinks. I had water. What we ordered Food: Poke nachos Just one bump Burger Pork chop Cauliflower steak Drinks: Espresso martin Negroni Roma The service was really great! I also enjoyed all the food. We came to The Pressroom with a group of friends for brunch and had such a great time. I absolutely love the atmosphere. It's lively, stylish, and has a really fun energy, especially for a weekend brunch with a group. I'm a big brunch person, so I'm always looking for places that have both a good food menu and great drinks, and The Pressroom definitely delivers on both. There are plenty of options to choose from, whether you want something more traditional or something a little different, and the brunch cocktails are creative and fun. I also love the concept behind the restaurant. It's located in the historic Lyndon Building, which was once home to the Times-Mercury and later the Mercury News, and The Pressroom incorporates that journalism history throughout the restaurant. It gives the space a little more character than your typical brunch spot. I really hope The Pressroom continues to do well. Downtown San Jose has seen so many restaurants come and go over the years, and it's great to see a place bringing this kind of energy back to the area. Empty restaurant with a too loud dj on a Sat for brunch. Sat down and we were one of maybe three tables at first yet it took 20+ mins to even have someone come to our table and introduce themselves and they weren't even our waiter. Ordered and our food came I ordered the most basic thing eggs, toast, bacon and hasbrowns and yet somehow it was expect for the eggs unediable. The hashbrows were so dry and hard, the bacon was essentially burnt and like a rock as well. Toast was a brick as well. Could not flag anyone down to even get water refills or to tell anyone my meal was overcooked. Would never recommend and will not be going back espically with how expensive this place is. read more

Stopped by during their happy hour to watch a World Cup game and was so pleasantly surprised with the restaurant, the food, the ambiance, and the service. We sat at the bar and really liked that they have big screens for games. We tried their pink pages and the tiki times drinks. Arrived around noon on Friday before Fourth of July, thought they would have brunch but they only have that on weekends!! The lunch menu was still good tho and liked everything i ordered! We got the 1/2 dozen oysters, ahi poke appetizer, and shared the salmon entree. Service was very good, food came out in a good amount of time. The oysters were fresh, the ahi poke was ample and good flavor profile with fresh tuna and spicy mayo. Came here with my coworkers for a small bachelorette dinner! The food was AMAZING. I want to come back for a cute little date night with my bf before heading out to downtown. We had a group of around 8 I think and did a family style type of dinner. We ordered the milk bread, mussels and prawns, poke nachos, caviar potato pave, and prime ny steak frites. Everything was so good!! The bread and the two butters it came with were really good. The bread that came with mussels and prawns were really good too, it was toasted with some seasonings and it paired really well with the leftover seafood sauce. It was perfectly seasoned and cooked, tender with just the right amount of fat, and honestly the perfect portion size. The eggs were cooked nicely, and I liked the bit of acidity from the arugula salad on top of the house potatoes, which helped balance the dish. The beignets were amazing. It was my first time trying them, and they were super light and airy on the inside with a perfectly crisp exterior coated in powdered sugar. Came here for my birthday dinner with a couple of friends. There was parking on the street and an easily accessible parking garage directly across the street. This restaurant is open and airy. We were seated pretty quickly. Our waiter was lively and his interaction was not too much was just enough to make our visit pleasant and want to come back again. My friend was the only one to order an alcoholic beverage and we were promised none of their spirits were overly sweet since none of their drinks were sweetened with simple syrup. She ordered a lychee something or another and he was right. It was delicious. Nothing overpowering just everything complimentary. We like to order "family style." We ordered the brussels sprouts, milk bread, endive salad, gnocchi, fried chicken and for dessert an order of beignets. Brussels sprouts were charred the way I like. Milk bread fluffy, buttery and both butters were delicious. The endive salad was a must. Gnocchi was pillowy with a hint of lemon in the ricotta filling and those mushrooms gave a nice touch to that cream sauce. You would think fried chicken breast would translate to dried out but it didn't. It was crispy on the outside and they did it just right to maintain the juicy center. The waiter overheard it was my birthday and brought me an order of bread pudding with ice cream with a candle to sing happy birthday to me before bringing out the beignets we ordered for dessert. Those beignets btw, crispy on the outside and light and airy on the inside and all the sauces it came with paired beautifully with it. Perfection! The pressroom is an upscale spot in the heart of downtown San Jose. Catering to a business dinner crowd and special occasion/date night clientele, the menu is quite varied and has offerings from Indian butter chicken, to short ribs, homemade pasta and even your classic burger. The waitress knew the menu and drinks very well and was able to provide detailed information on the ingredients in each, as well as recommendations on what pairs well with each dish. I ordered the boneless short ribs with potatoes and asparagus and rainbow carrots. The presentation, from the plate to the assembly and composition was absolutely beautiful and immediately gave the high-end, upscale vibe. The meat was super tender and seasoned well. The potatoes were almost like thinly sliced scalloped potatoes with a crunchy top, yet smooth and creamy in the inside. The vegetables were perfectly cooked and paired well with the short ribs. Truffle oil was used delicately to season the potatoes but was unnecessary if you ask me. The mustard Demi-glacé accompanying the short ribs was the best complement tying the whole dish together. I also got to try the hand made agnolotti with garlic, wild mushrooms and lemon ricotta. The pasta was delicate and generously stuffed with lemon ricotta. The garlic sauce was buttery yet a bit heavy handed with truffle oil. It did complement the wild mushrooms though, so I understand why the chef prepared it that way and it made the dish feel more elevated. For dessert I had the vanilla crème brulee which was rich and creamy. The sugar was perfectly caramelized, providing a much needed bitterness to the sweet custard. I could have used a bit less sweetness and a bit more citrus or acid with more fruit perhaps. My coworker had the bread pudding which was well balanced and had a sprinkle of salt to make up for the sweetness in the bread and ice cream. Overall it was a great meal. I'll definitely be back however, the prices are on the high end, making this more of a special occasion restaurant, more so than your every day eating out dining spot. read more

Decided to try a new brunch spot and I have to say the interior here is so beautiful. I love all the natural lighting and how big the space is. The menu has some very unique names, but I like how they tried to preserve the history of the building which used to be the Mercury News. They also use newspaper print for their to-go bags which I thought was very cute. For food, we ordered their version of avocado toast with hashbrowns, bibimbap, and beignets. We went there for a birthday, to sum up our experience, the service good but a bit slow, but that is understandable because it was super packed so we didn't mind. As for the food itself, it was a bit expensive for what it was. The food was good but nothing amazing. However, we really do appreciate their birthday celebration for us!! Saw this place popup on my Yelp recommendations while looking for a place to celebrate my gf's birthday. Upon arrival, there is this huge wooden door that caught us by surprise when walking in. My husband had The Standard and absolutely loved it. We ordered exclusively from the happy hour menu, and everything impressed us. The oysters ($2!!) were phenomenal--small and sweet, just how we like them. We also tried the Millionaire Bacon Bao Buns, which admittedly looked a bit underwhelming at first, but completely delivered on flavor. The staff here was friendly and the service was good. The interior is modern and nice. It's good for big groups. The prices here are definitely on the more expensive side. The steak was tender and flavorful. The fries were solid with a good crunch and fluffy interior. The poke nachos were enjoyable. The pretty in pink drink was refreshing. Food was good but nothing that wowed me. Presentation was nice. Music was a little loud; it made people talk louder which made it even more difficult to hear out own conversation. Our server Selena was very nice and gave us excellent service. read more
