It was a special occasion so I went to Blossom and Bourbon. I am leery of higher end restaurants, but B&B delivered in taste and portion size. You truly get your money's worth at this restaurant. Tuesday night we decided to try Blossom and Bourbon for dinner for the first time. Overall, it was a really good experience. The customer service was great and the atmosphere was nice too, especially the outdoor lounge. I ordered the fish with a wedge salad, and my husband ordered the steak with french fries. The food was flavorful and everything tasted really good. The only downside was that by the time we got home, our stomachs weren't feeling great. Since it was the only thing my husband and I both ate, I'm guessing it may have been something there, but I can't say for sure. We came here for Mother's Day and wanted to avoid the crowd so went a little later in the evening. The host and staff were very welcoming. Our server was very helpful and checked up on us if we needed anything throughout our meal. The seating was very spacious and a good amount of walk space between tables. We were seated at the booth which had a lot of table space for all the food we ordered. The lighting was perfect to set the perfect relaxing mood to enjoy our drinks and food. Since it was a special occasion, we decided to order some drinks especially at a place like this where they are known to carry good bourbon and whiskey. My wife ordered the manhattan and I ordered the smoke and mirror. The smoke and mirror was really good. It has the right amount of smokiness paired with a sweet tangy flavor. My wife said the manhattan was strong so she had to slowly sip it. The server also brought her a complimentary champagne and a stemmed rose for Mother's day. I thought that was a very nice gesture they did for all the mothers who were dining that night. After I finished my drink, I decided to order another drink but wanted to try something different so I ordered the oaxaca old fashion. This was definitely different than the smoke and mirror. It was more smokey. I liked this as well but it had a strong taste compared to the regular old fashion. I had to sip it and stir the ice to let it melt a little. The flavor came out as the ice melted and watered the alcohol. We definitely enjoyed our drinks. For food, we started off with the lobster bisque, hamachi crudo, and lobster rolls. The lobster bisque was good and I think adding a pinch of black pepper would give it more flavor. The hamachi crudo really impressed us. My boys and I really liked it. My boys liked it so much that they ate all of it before i even took a bite of my piece. It has a good texture and the sauce was not overpowering. My boys ordered the lobster rolls as their meal which came with 3 rolls but we added an extra roll so the boys can each have 2. They devoured those rolls and asked for another order which they got. They liked that it came with 2 small lobster bisque shots that they used to dip their rolls in. My wife ordered the seared scallops and mashed potatoes on the side. The scallops were cooked perfectly and were soft and tender. It was very flavorful. The mash potato was soft but nothing really special. I decided to pour the lobster bisque from the lobster over the mash potato and it gave the flavor that was missing. I wish I asked for black pepper to add it in the lobster bisque to fully enhance the flavor with the mashed potato. I ordered the skirt steak and requested it medium rare and added a side of truffle fries and mac and cheese. The steak was cooked correctly and had a lot of flavor. It was very tender and juicy. I decided to dip the steak into the lobster bisque and it just put the flavor to a whole new level. The balance of flavor just made it so much better. The fries were nice and crisp. It came with ranch on the side. I dipped the fried in the lobster bisque but it didn't go well. The flavor was a little off with that combination but still not bad. My son liked the mac and cheese. He finished the mac and cheese. For dessert, we opted for the white chocolate bread pudding since many yelpers were ordering it. I have to say, it was a hit. Highly recommend getting this after your meal. The bread pudding was soft in the middle while the crust was a crispy. The white chocolate and raspberry jam gave it a sweet tangy taste. Overall, our experience was really good. Everything we ordered was good. It can be pricey especially when you order alcoholic beverages. They have a good selection of drinks and I would definitely come back to sip some bourbon and whiskey as well as some of their mix drinks. Lol this was our first time going to this restaurant in San Jose and I was rather surprised- there are too many fancy or sitdown restaurants that I've seen as of late - so this was a breath of fresh air! We got some bubbled water and then ordered two cocktails. Our server was a friendly person with some interesting tattoos. They had tats on their forearms and neck. It tasted as if it had been made overnight so all the flavors were really full embodied. I was also happy to find out there was no monosodium glutamate/MSG in the soup. Sometimes restaurants cut corners and add the MSG so they don't have to make the broth as fast. Lol so frustrating since I'm allergic! There were also huge chunks of lobster within the soup itself! My boyfriend has an obsession with deep-fried cauliflower wings. I forget what these ones were called, but they had a good Asian spiced barbecue flavor to them!! We both really like them!! Came here on a Tuesday night and it was pretty busy. Got seated quickly and it was nice inside and out. Service was great and knowledgeable about the menu. Started with the wedge salad which was delicious. They give you thick bacon almost like pork belly on it. Then we got steak and the sea bass for the main. The sea bass was so tasty with the seasoning and sauce on it. The steak was cooked perfectly and delicious too. The meat was pretty rough though even though it was medium rare. Got truffle fries for the side and they were perfect. It would've been five stars but the lack of any tenderness in the steak held me back. The lobster bisque was also very tasty. Both my daughter and brother really liked it. 2 French Dip Sandwiches - these come with fries but I substituted mine for the Brussels. Sandwiches were good. Bread was soft and the meat was tender but not a ton of flavor. The horseradish sauce that came with it was good but pretty mild for my pallet. Au jus was light and delicate. Tasted more like a broth than a true au jus. Fries - thin and addicting. Crisp on the outside and tender on the inside. Brussels - really good. Cooked well just needed a squeeze of lemon. Skirt Steak - medium rare and seasoned perfectly. Definitely a favorite out of what we ordered. The chimichurri sauce was delicious. My daughter loved it. Mac-n-cheese - this was good but not outstanding. Very creamy and the noodles were cooked perfectly but the sauce wasn't anything special. Food and drinks were overall spectacular! Chicken Lollipops 5/5: very big portion, sweet marinade and the orange cream sauce was the perfect addition! Steak Tacos 4/5: juicy and refreshing taste - only note was that we would've liked guacamole on it but since we had the trio dip we just added it ourselves. Such a cute, high-end spot for the area, we really needed this! The wait was about an hour on a Friday (no reservations), but grabbing drinks and apps on the patio with fire pits made it super enjoyable. This is my 2 time writing a review. I arrived a little before 6 and was seated right away no waiting at all. The interior felt pretty much the same as my last visit: still cozy and warm. I noticed there were plenty of staff, including someone in what looked like a white chef's jacket I'm assuming he was the head chef overseeing everything. The team was well organized and very friendly. I ordered the spaghetti, chicken lollipop, and salmon. The salmon, was absolutely delicious. I haven't had salmon that good in a long time. My boyfriend and I came here for our anniversary because we've seen it's a very nice and delicious restaurant, and it really lived up to the hype. The service was very fast from the host to server and the runners. The food was delicious, and we definitely want to come back to try some other intriguing items ơn the menu. The chips trio appetizer had such delicious dips; the guacamole was so fresh, the queso dip was surprisingly very delicious to me, despite me not being a big queso person, and the corn salsa was great. My pasta was so tasty, and the sausage pizza had so much protein, more than you think you would get. The tiramisu dessert cocktail we got to share was also really good (that was straight alcohol). Both were very good and refreshing. For appetizer we got the Maine lobster bisque rolls. So good! For our main dish, we shared the spicy honey pizza. Their pizzas are made in a firewood oven. It was very good, our only complaint was that we asked it be left in for a couple extra minutes so we get that nice crispy crust, but it didn't seem like it was left in for any extra time. Food-wise, everything was good! The cauliflower bites were INSANELY good (which is wild because I don't even like cauliflower ). Those are a must-order. Wow major kudos to the owners to Blossom & Bourbon for opening a stylish eatery in South SJ! I loved how intimate the restaurant felt inside while still maintaining a classy ambiance. While checking in, the host was slightly questionable... I expected more of a greeting without annoyance but anywho I was determined to enjoy my dinner. Our waiter was respectful and courteous while another staff member was awesome with keeping our drinks filled all night! I can't recall exactly which cocktail I got, however it was well balanced and refreshing. Walked in here on a Wednesday evening around 7 pm, the wait time was 26 mins that isn't too bad. As soon as you walk into the restaurant the ambience is lush and sophisticated. The interior is nicely decorated with a large bar in the middle, multiple fire pits outside for seating or waiting, and round booths for more intimate settings. They were quite busy when we went but it didn't feel too loud or chaotic so you can still have a conversation. The menu is only one page, very few entrees but there is something for every dietary needs. This is a traditional American restaurant serving upscale dishes with very few flares. I ordered the French Dip sandwich that came with a very generous portion of french fries. My friends ordered the BBQ beef ribs and subbed the coleslaw for the spaghetti pomodoro, and chicken lollipop's. For the price the food portion is enough to leave you full. The French Dip isn't as seasoned as I'd like it to be however the cut of beef that they use is very tender and juicy. Service here was slow but the servers were very nice and were very accommodating ready to answer questions about the menu. Overall the vibe of the restaurant is mellow, modern and classy. This place was packed and the wait was over 2 hours long (we didn't know you can join online ahead of time), but it was so worth the wait! Plentiful parking, elegant atmosphere, and unbelievable food. We started off with cocktails and the lobster rolls, which come with shots of the bisque and made it so flavorful. Would highly recommend for seafood lovers. For our main, we decided to share the prime rib eye, which they graciously cut into two pieces for us to be able to do so. There's a heavy rosemary taste but it was so tender for a medium well steak. It also comes with a head of roasted garlic and is topped with butter that adds so much extra flavor. The sides stole the show though. Each side is definitely big enough to share, so if you're coming with a party, make sure everyone gets a different side so everyone gets to try more things. Each side honestly could feed 3-4 people. For the sides: Mac and cheese - just the right amount of cheesy and baked to perfection Creamed corn - our absolute favorite! We were a party of 4 so they don't take reservations for less than 6 people. Arrived at 6pm so I was able to get seated right away. I ordered the Spicy honey pizza, however the bottom of the plate was soggy. Not sure what it was from, but it made the pizza a bit messy. The truffle fries were good and would recommend. The restaurant has booth, table, and bar seating along with outdoor seating. The outdoor seating has two sides; Both sides provide outdoor hwating and fireplaces- one side is for dining purposes (making it dog friendly) and one for guests waiting for their table (the restaurant doesn't take reservations AND we don't mind at all) We've tried almost every item on the menu and stay true to our favorites; lobster bisque, the beets, lobster rolls, prime rib, the french dip, skirt steak with one of my favorote chimichurri sauces, their corn dish and of course their beverages! My husband partakes on more of their bourbon and I tend to stick to wine; love their rosé and if we're feeling extra, we'll order a bottle of their Caymus-Suisun The Walking Fool! When we arrived at 6:00, we were told it would be a 40 minute wait. Grrrrr. The good news is they have a beautiful outdoor fire pit lounge that had seating available and we were called for our table in 15 minutes. Yay! Also, I need to mention the restaurant is stunning. We were all impressed with both the inside and outside of what used to be the Outback. What a transfermation! Appetizers: Hamachi Crudo: My friend said it was interesting, but not worth the money. A few paper thin slices of fish in a sauce with sliced jalepenos. When asked if he would order it again, he said, "No." $20 Wedge Salad: It was a large wedge if iceberg lettuce with a plate drizzled with basamic (no dressing on the lettuce) Gorganzola crumbles, grape tomatoes and two slices of very thick, tender bacon. The bacon was amazing eaten on its own but didn't add the smokiness or crunch profile that traditional crisp bacon does to this style of salad. I think it was a mismatch for a Wedge. $16 Entrees: Grilled Branzino: My friend enjoyed it but was rather surprised to find the fish head hiding under a pile of spinach. It was also not a huge portion of food. $39 Sausage Pizza: Basic wood fired, thin crust individual pizza. Tasty sausage and cheese. Classic boutique pizza. $23 French Dip Sandwich: A generous portion of thinly sliced, rare Prime Rib. The meat was extremely tender but unfortunately did not have a very deep beef flavor and the au jus wasn't much help. The worst part was the bun. It had the texture of a spongy hot dog roll, lacked flavor and fell apart when dipped. French dips need a sturdy roll, preferably toasted French, with character to hold up to all the dipping and give texture contrast. The highlight was the enormous plate of French fries that came with it. Crispy, thin cut fries and lots of them. So many we all shared them. The cup of sauce they came with was unimpressive, but luckily they stood well on their own. $28 Desserts: Milk and Cookies: A lovely presentation with a milk shake served in a large mug dusted with shaved chocolate and three very large, thick chocolate chip cookies on the side. My friend loved the shake but not so much the cookies. They looked better than they tasted. Rather bland dough with chocolate chunks. $12 Gelato: Three demitasse size cups of assorted flavors of gelato, though we ordered all vanilla. It was a generous amount and the quality was decent. Nice presentation. $9 Overall: Very beautiful restaurant, though the poor accoustics made it very noisy and difficult to hear our conversations. Would we go back? Probably, but not in any rush. I think they present as a fine dining restaurant, while the flavors, though sometimes creative, miss the mark for what I expect for that caliber of restaurant. Perhaps ordering other items might get me to change my mind, but I doubt it. I feel we had a variey of menu items and the food took second place to the decor. And please, start taking reservations. -5 stars if I could. I made a reservation a week in advance for a party of 9 at 5:45 PM through their website. The restaurant later emailed me saying that for a group of 9, only patio seating was available at that time. I agreed and clearly requested that we be seated together at one long table. They confirmed the reservation. When we arrived on time today, we were first told that the reservation was only for 6 people. I showed them the confirmation stating 9. Then someone who appeared to be a manager came over and told us they would have to split our group into two separate tables -- one for 6 and one for 3 -- at opposite corners of the patio. This was never communicated to us beforehand. If they couldn't accommodate our request to be seated together, they should have told us in advance instead of confirming the reservation. To make matters worse, they insisted they had already informed us via email, which is simply not true. The confirmation email never mentioned anything about splitting the party. We ended up having to leave and find another place to eat -- on a birthday celebration, no less. We were all really excited about trying their drinks and ready to celebrate, so this completely ruined the mood for us. I work in customer service, so I fully understand that things can go wrong and staff can have off days. But this situation was entirely preventable and should have been handled much more professionally. Clear communication is the bare minimum, especially when confirming reservations. Very disappointing experience and unacceptable level of communication. This isn't about a bad day. It reflects a fundamental lack of communication. Do better!!! read more

Got here around 5:20pm on a Friday and the wait wasn't too bad. Roughly 10 minutes. It was my first time here and everything was delicious. I loved the goat cheese fritters!! Service was friendly. After dinner we wanted to grab drinks from the bar and have a seat by the fireplace outside but it was too packed so we ended up at another restaurant in the plaza. We ended up eating here somewhat on a whim because it was on the way to a comedy show we had planned for date night, and we're so glad we did. This place completely exceeded our expectations. The menu felt much more elevated and high-quality than we expected walking in. We ordered the prime rib, and honestly, it is still the best prime rib I've ever had. That's saying a lot, because I've had prime rib at many high-end steakhouses and restaurants for both personal and work events. The flavor, tenderness, and preparation were absolutely outstanding. They really know what they're doing. We also ordered the mini lobster rolls as an appetizer, which were adorable, fun, and incredibly delicious. They were the perfect way to start the meal. For dessert, we got the milk and cookies, and it was beyond anything I expected. It was so good that I'm still thinking about it. Definitely one of those desserts that sticks in your memory. On top of the great food, the service was incredibly warm and welcoming. Our waiter took wonderful care of us and made the experience even more enjoyable. 2/21 First time eating at Blossom & Bourbon. Arrived at 5:45pm thinking it would be early enough (they don't take reservations for less than 6) the restaurant was packed. We were told the wait would be 45 minutes. We stood in line to order drinks at the bar and then sat out in the waiting lounge area. We luckily were able to secure a couch for 3 of the 4 to sit. It's spaced out well but be prepared to stand during your wait if it's a popular time. The fires make it very comfortable and the glass walls keep the wind out. The bartenders are sharply dressed with nice hipster style leather and fabric tailored aprons. All three drinks we started with were well balanced and delicious. Potentially dangerous because they were easily downable! We were called after 40 minutes and sat at a lovely booth. The decor is very nice. Lots of wood in the decor but not old school heavy. It's mixed with delicate features like white blossom trees and light blue seating. It's very well done but not pretentious. Food: Goat Cheese Fritters - crisp & melty, 6 on the plate, nicely paired with honey. It was a hit for the table-enough that a second order was made. Lobster rolls! - 3 on the plate, delicious thick brioche bread with a decent amount of lobster, a lobster bisque to pour over really made them a hit! Yum! Wedge salad! - so crisp and fresh! Blue cheese dressing was light and delicious! We have never had it paired with balsamic as well and it was fabulous. The bacon was sweet and salty- nice thick cut caramelized to perfection. Brisket cheeseburger was the best burger possibly ever had! The meat was perfectly medium rare, the cheese and toppings were just enough and not a drippy mess. The bun was fresh and delicious. The fries are ridiculously generous, they are crispy shoestring that come with a really tasty chipotle sauce. Superstar of the table! BBQ Beef Ribs-truly fall off the bone! You do NOT pick these up with your hands they just come off the bone with the fork and knife. Again HUGE portions! Great sauce and depth of flavor! Seared scallops-they were 'ok'. The presentation was somewhat lackluster. The texture and flavor was good but not something to boast about. Might not be worth space on the menu. Diavolo Pasta-generous portion, nice heat factor but we had to send it back due to it being extremely salty. Adding a shrimp option or at minimum offering cheese on it might help. Not a lot of vegetarian options so it was disappointing it had to go back. Mac-n-cheese-appreciated the breadcrumb topping. The noodles were over cooked which is common for mac-n-cheese unfortunately. A better variety of cheese would've helped. It didn't have any standout flavor. The bechamel ensured it wasn't dry but it was a little empty. The bourbon flights were fantastic. The price points are great if you want to sample different labels and reasonably priced. You can't really go wrong with their cocktails. They were all fire! We will return for sure. The servers were great and very attentive. I waited after eating here a few times to do this review. I like consistency before I review a restaurant and wow am I glad I did! Blossom and Bourbon is an excellent dining experience. Every single item I have ordered has been delicious and bursting with flavor. The good is not boring it's carefully curated and cooked to perfection every single time. I have tried most of their appetizers from the Hamachi to Lollipop chicken it's all delicious. However, I recommend skipping the Hamachi and getting the Lobster Roll with Lobster Bisque for dipping and dipping. My husband loves the Lollipop chicken do we do order it every time. Not pictured was a lite second course we don't Cesar salad and I love that thrift croutons are actually corn bread that is perfectly toasted for a crunchy sweet flavor with the cedar salad makes it the perfect combination of savory and sweet. The Brussels sprites win every time alongside the Rib Eye or skirt steak depending on your appetite. Both the Rob eye and the Skirt steak melt in hot mouth. Lastly, the Mac and Cheese is my husband's favorite! He never fluid it and it's because it is absolutely delicious. Creamy, cheesy, bread crumb goodness. The drinks are superb I am a bourbon it whisky girl so the B&B Espresso Martini was like coming a cold Irish coffee I truly enjoyed it. The whiskey flights are not for the Whiskey flights are not for the light of heart or senses, they are carefully curated and each sip is an experience. The service is top notch every time, all of the servers are kind, and on top of taking orders accurately and bring drinks as you order them, they check on the tables frequently refill water glasses and are very attentive. Please be aware it gets very busy in this restaurant so in order to have a really nice experience make sure that you're asking your server for what you need when they come to your table. Otherwise when it's busy, it's harder for them to have have to juggle so many different things at once so as they check on your table, if there's something you need to ask for it then-- do not wait and flag them down just because they are moving fast and quickly and it is a a form of respecting the work they're doing. The ambience of the restaurant is well lit and very comfortable to sit in from the beautiful bar to the booth tables to the half booth and chairs We've sat in all spaces and each one is a really enjoyable experience. I think the bar is really good for couples rather than groups but I mean that is your preference. I love that you can just walk up to the bar when you walk in order your drink and then walk outside to the patio to wait for your table if it's not ready. The hostesses are really sweet and super accommodating. My sister wasn't sure if she was going to join us or not, and they still put us at a table for three which I thought was great. All in all, this is a fabulous dining choice for date night special occasion or anytime you just really want a nice meal. With our drinks and everything we ordered, we paid about the same as we would at any other fine dining restaurants like Ruth's Chris or the Whaling Station in Monterey, which is just under $330. Don't skip out on this dinning experience in San Jose because it's one of the better ones that you'll find if not the best in our area. read more

First time trying and exceeded my expectations! Walked in on a weeknight for a seat at the bar with no problems. The interior is classy and elegant, definitely great for a date night spot. My bartender Juan was very personable and helpful. We chatted a lot about whiskey and cocktails. My favorite was the Old Almaden over the G-Manhatten. I asked if they had any barrel picks and their Angel's Envy was fantastic. Their cheeseburger was pretty awesome, especially medium rare. It was incredibly succulent, juicy, and huge (larger than the bun, which is the way to go), almost like eating a patty of juicy steak. The bites with the bacon jam were the best. The ones without though could've used a little more salt. It came with a huge pile of fries which were very generous and delicious too. I give this place a 4.5. I wish they took reservation but I see why it's a first come first serve for parties less than 6. We were a party of 6 and arrived a lil pass 6pm and was seated right away. Appetizer: We ordered the trip dip, lobster roll and the cauliflower nuggets and the chopped salad to start the night. I didn't like the pimento queso as the cheese was too strong z the corn dip was fire!!!- 8/10. The cauliflower nugget was really delicious. At first, I thought it was orange chicken . Even my brother who doesn't do greens was eating it!! That tells you how good it was- 10/10. The lobster bisque on the lobster roll really makes the difference! With it had a tad bit more lobster- 9/10. Chopped salad- 5/10. I wouldn't order it again. Entree: we ordered the truffle fries, French dip, truffle mushroom pizza, Mac n cheese, Yukon mash, cream corn and the rib eye. Truffle fries is truffle fries. Nothing special. French dip was good. With it was bigger or had more meat for the money. The full order of fries just doesn't justify the $30 price point. The mushroom pizza was nothing to wow abouts I think Yard House has a better truffle mushroom pizza- 7/10. Mac n cheese was delicious. It had the cheese pull and you couldn't tell that there was cheese cuz the smell of cheese was there- 10/10. Yukon mash was smooth like butta! It was like a purée more than mash-10/10. The cream corn was on another level. Charred with a kick of spice 10/10. The rib eye was ordered medium rare and it was cooked perfectly. Very tender and flavorful. 10/10 Dessert: We ordered the cookie and milk, bread pudding, and the biscoff cheesecake. All the dessert was good. The cookies a drill could be a pass if I had to choose 2 must have. Drinks were well made. We ordered caymus, mojito and a Moscow mule. We sat outdoors with heater and it was perfect. I've been wanting to visit this spot since their grand opening, and I finally made it on a whim for a mother-daughter dinner on a Monday night around 7:30 PM. We were greeted and seated right away while the restaurant was about half full, mostly with families and couples. The decor was classy, the ambiance comfortable, and everything looked clean and well kept. We ordered a few dishes to share: * Lobster Roll ($25) * 16oz Prime Rib Steak ($54) * Yukon Gold Mashed Potatoes ($9) * Broccolini ($9) * Custom Beverage ($15) Total with tax and a 15% tip came out to $141. The Maine lobster roll was solid, with the bread being incredibly soft, buttery, and toasted to perfection. The lobster filling was served cold, but when we poured a bit of the lobster bisque soup over it, it became so comforting and flavorful. The prime rib steak was perfectly cooked, tender, juicy, and seasoned just right. The mashed potatoes were creamy and buttery, pure comfort food, and the broccolini had a nice crunch and balanced seasoning. Our cocktail, custom-made by our waiter for my mom, was fruity yet strong -- definitely worth the price for how generous they were with the pour! Overall, this restaurant feels like a nice middle ground between casual and upscale kind of a "Maestro-lite" experience. We met up with a friend of mine to eat here on a Thursday night and everything about this place is perfect. We walked in and were seated immediately to a table. The servers were so sweet and attentive to our needs and the restaurant itself is beautiful. Although it is a little loud as it was a full house, we were still able to hear each other. We ordered the steak, Mac and cheese, lobster roll, broccolini, and pasta and the food came out pretty quickly. The food was amazing and i would definitely recommend sharing with another person since we ended up taking left overs. 10/10 we would come here again, the service, the ambiance, the food was all great.
