Don't you love is when a restaurant shares the name with the name of the dish they specialize in? So just know that you're in for some special hummus, not your grocery store or work fridge hummus. I would highly recommend the hummus flight; you get to sample all four of their hummus types. To my understanding, these hummus types change from time to time. When we went, we had the classic, pesto hummus, chipotle hummus, and the dried olive & feta crumble. The chipotle had a stronger kick than I was expecting from hummus, the pesto was a little too oily for my taste, and I didn't see any dried olives in the last one. But overall, it was the most creative and creamy hummus I've ever had. The Manti and Baba Ghanoush were good too; the dumplings being perfectly cooked and the baba ghanoush (which I thought would be something else) turned out to be one of my favorites! For all these dipping sauces, we only got two slices of pita bread, which was not nearly enough. Make sure you take heavy dips or else you'll be eating straight sauce. I had a really good experience trying the food at Hummus mediterranean. The service here was fast, but it was a takeout order. For my food I tried the Combo plate which came with a variety of kabobs, rice and salad. There was also a white sauce which was yummy. I loved all the kabobs, they were well seasoned and soft/tender. The food was absolutely amazing and very flavorful. I ordered the moussaka for my entree. And it definitely did not disappoint. I also ordered the chili mango cocktail. It was very tasty. Not too sweet just the way I like it. The rim had tajin, also a huge bonus. And we ordered a appetizer plate of olives, bread and feta cheese. I'd say that the bread was the best part of that, although the olives and the cheese was also very good. It's just the bread was definitely in the star. The service was really good. I had an amazing dinner here. We had a large group of people, I believe 10, and we all had a great time. They were able to seat us all together comfortably and service was great the whole time. We were recommended to get 2 of the appetizer sampler which was a big hit amongst everyone. I am vegan and unfortunately their pita bread is not vegan due to egg wash but I was still able to enjoy the dips on their own. Everything in the appetizer sampler is vegan except the tzatziki. I especially enjoyed the hummus and the muhammara. Our server was very knowledgeable about vegan options on the menu despite them not being labeled. I got the hummus bowl without feta for my entree which was delicious. However I thought the appetizers/dips were the standout of the meal. I'm absolutely in love with the ambiance here. The interior design is stunning. I've been many times but somehow always forgot to leave a review. Everything I've tried has been delicious. Having such a chic place nearby makes it so easy when I have guests -- I never have to wonder where to take them. That said, I think the lahmacun could be improved. In my opinion, the dough they use isn't quite suitable for traditional lahmacun. I've had better versions in Mountain View. Definitely room for refinement there. The baklava served with lavender cream is phenomenal. My daughter literally starts talking about the cream as soon as we mention going there. Although it was busy, we were seated promptly. The menu is quite extensive and everything sounded delicious! Because we couldn't decide, we asked our server for recommendations. She suggested the house combo plate, which we ordered. In addition, we got the balloon bread and a mojito. The meat was well-seasoned and prepared perfectly. The dressing on the salad was light and delicious, and the balloon bread was fluffy as expected! The only items on the combo plate that I didn't love were the tzatziki and what appeared to be ghee. we used to love this place. the food is still great, but unfortunately, our last 2-3 visits have been increasingly frustrating because of how we're treated when being seated. every single time, it's the same argument. we arrive as a party of three, the hostess walks us to a table, then notices that one of us is our three-year-old daughter and suddenly tells us we can't sit there because the table is reserved for four people. which is a little absurd considering they were perfectly happy to seat three people there just moments earlier. normally, we'd be understanding of seating constraints, but there are two things that make this particularly frustrating. first, we typically visit during off-peak hours when most of the restaurant is empty. it's hard to understand why there's so little flexibility when there are plenty of available tables. second, anyone with a toddler knows that they need a little extra space. our daughter has a tendency to grab and fling plates, so squeezing us onto a tiny table is actually going to create more headaches for everyone, including the staff. we end up having to explain all of this every single time, and eventually the hostess usually relents and lets us sit at the original table anyway. but why does it have to be an argument every time? to be clear, i don't blame the hostesses. my impression is that they're trying to enforce some rigid, inconsistently applied policy set by management. the fact that they eventually make an exception almost every time makes the whole experience feel even more unnecessary. it's a shame because we genuinely enjoy the food, but these repeated interactions have made dining here exhausting enough that we probably won't be coming back for a while. i really hope management reconsiders its seating policies and communicates any changes clearly to the staff. a little grace, common sense, and flexibility with customers, especially families with young children, would go a long way. read more

We ordered from Hummus Mediterranean Kitchen in Mountain View for a team meal, and it was an excellent choice across the board. I personally ordered the grilled salmon with couscous and salad, and it was absolutely amazing. The salmon was perfectly cooked ,flavorful, fresh, well-seasoned and paired really well with the light, fluffy couscous and fresh salad. It felt wholesome yet very satisfying. Everyone else on the team had great things to say about their meals as well. Not a single complaint and positive feedback all around, which is always a good sign when ordering for a group. While shopping at Stanford Mall we were looking for a place to eat and saw this restaurant by chance. According to our waiter, it has been here for 3 years this year. Our server Umut who is also the Manager was very good and made some amazing recommendations. He was attentive to everyone in the restaurant. Here is what we had: Appetizer Sampler: Hummus, sautéed eggplant, muhammara, baba ghanoush, tzatziki, dolmades and falafel. Served with pita - bread: this was so good. I love the variety it held for the price. The hummus and falafel are the best I have had since I was in Greece. Everything else was equally ahhmazing. Lahmacun Turkish Pizza - Thin crusted flat bread with minced lamb & beef, veggies, and herbs & spices: we wanted to try this and oh boy, it was worth it. Something different but it all went together well. I love the flavors, simply delish Manti Plate -Beef stuffed Turkish dumplings, garlic yogurt and manti sauce: this is so good, but three of us were so stuffed by the time we got this we couldn't finish it. The little star pastas are so cute and yummmm. Baklava - One piece of carrot sliced pistachio baklava, lavender cream: there is only one other place where I live the Baklava and this is now the second. The lavender cream is really good but you must have ice cream with it too. Their portions are big, the price is decent, the service is awesome, the food is the best I have had so far. What a wonderful experience, more restaurants need to study Hummus's business model. I've been coming here since their opening, and it's exactly what Stanford was missing. The staff is extremely kind and accommodating, and everything I've tried on the menu tastes fresh and is well worth the trip. I'm especially partial to the lahmacun, lentil soup, and whipped feta, though honestly, everything has been delicious. Once, I was torn between two dishes, and without even asking, they brought me a small portion of the other one I had been considering along with my order. Food & Drinks: I started the evening with an espresso martini. It was standard and delicious. For my meal, I started with the whipped feta. The whipped feta was delicious. It was a great portion size, perfect for sharing. My friend and I also shared the hummus flight. I would highly recommend this one. Each one was distinct and delicious. A spacious welcoming vibe at the Stanford Shopping center, good for a casual evening. We went here on a weeknight and were seated right away. The service is prompt, even is the food is somewhat under seasoned. I guess they have attempted to lighten the punch of strong flavors and it is a bit underwhelming. We tried the spicy harissa hummus which was flavorful but not spicy (as had been mentioned) they serve it with bread, where I wished the bread portion was larger. We also got the Anatolian Meltdown Pide - this is like a thin crust multi - cheese pizza. I definitely needed to request for their spicy sauce to jazz up this one! The chicken kebab plate tasted a bit under seasoned and was served with tiny bits of chicken rather than the chicken breast cubes that were mentioned. This also benefited from the spicy sauce they served us upon request. The salad served with this plate was strangely, without any dressing - come on, at least serve some dressing on the side! My Gyro Wrap was just okay. I thought the gyro meat itself was a little dry, but it had good flavoring, and the French fries that came with it were great. The bar is lovely and seating options are great. My server Roger was phenomenal. I ordered the moussaka, which came with the beat side salad. My side of chicken gyro to- go for the protein eater at home was generous. I believe the prices are similar to the San Mateo location. This restaurant is not as great as my Mediterranean faves Mykonos in Burlingame or Elia in San Carlos in San Carlos, which are quite a bit pricier and mote special, but for basic American/ Greek food at a fair price point, this is as good as it gets! read more

I swapped rice for fries in the combo plate (as I had seen others do), and loved the additional textures/flavor it added. All the included meats were grilled to juicy, tender perfection. I got the eggplant with meat, and thought the texture of the eggplant was just right. The tomato sauce goes so well with it. Service was decently quick.
