Loved coming to Mazra- this spot has been on my to try list forever. I got the chicken shawarma wrap, which was huge and definitely filled me up! The outdoor seating is simply gorgeous and has such a cozy feel to it. Love that there's free chai as well as sweetener offered in the restaurant. This place was so packed on a Sunday at 8 PM. The hostess was also incredibly kind- my friend ended up checking in late and we lost our table, but she put us on the list for the very next one to open up.
I've been meaning to check out Mazra's (not so) new Redwood City location for the longest time. I'm glad I finally got a chance recently. There's a paid parking lot right behind the restaurant (rate is $1/hour). It's not a huge lot, and it was mostly full when we came on a weekday afternoon, so I can imagine it might be hard to find a spot during the weekend. I came for a late lunch with a friend around 1:40 pm on a Wednesday, and surprisingly it was still somewhat crowded. They have both indoor seating as well as patio seating, but it was a hot-ish day out so we opted for indoor. Both indoor and outdoor areas are decorated beautifully, with lots of greenery outside and high ceilings and more greenery inside. We shared two items: Whole cauliflower ($14) Chicken shawarma plate ($22) I've heard their cauliflower is really good and knew I had to try it out. The actual roasted cauliflower is pretty good, but what makes this dish really shine is the lemon tahini dressing. It was like crack! The chicken shawarma plate was delicious too. We got it with a side of seasoned fries and roasted beet dip, and everything was so good. The chicken itself is very flavorful, and once you add the garlic toum sauce, it's *chefs kiss*. Portions were pretty big, and we didn't end up finishing either dish. I packed the remaining chicken with the leftover tahini dressing from the cauliflower, and it made for some pretty yummy leftovers later that night!!
This place was so busy... it was crazy hard to get a reservation and I honestly wouldn't recommend it for a larger party - wasn't ideal for 8. It's a loud bustling place - so just plan accordingly. We got seated and could order on our phones. Minimal service model, but everyone we interacted with was really nice and helpful when we needed something. The food here was EXCELLENT. Everything we ordered had incredible flavor, was well-seasoned, and came in a generous portion. Overall, 10/10.
Mazra is a popular Middle Eastern restaurant in Redwood City. No reservations accepted on a Sunday night and waitlist are 45min-1hr for dinner. Was the experience and food worth the wait? For us, probably not with a fussy, hangry 6yo. We've had much juicier chicken kebabs in San Diego, Vancouver BC, and Kirkland, WA. However, Mazra did have several excellent dishes that may warrant a weeknight visit if you can snag a reservation. Excellent dishes 1. Rotisserie Chicken - the crispy skin and juicy dark meat stand out here. Our son's favorite dish and mine as well. 2. Branzino - Its an entire filet, head included that's been deboned and grilled perfectly. Wife loved this dish. 3. For the Kebabs, the chicken we found overcooked and dry, while the beef was decent - soft and juicy. 4. Roasted Whole Cauliflower is also a must get, shareable veggie dish. You literally get the while head, but it's been spiced and sauced well and cooked to be super soft. Probably healthy for you too. 5. You'll get to pick two sides in addition the free yellow rice and puffy pita bread per entree. Our favorites were pickled olives, beet dip, and Muhamarra. These are all great with the pita bread. Service is okay but note its order and pay by QR code and the water and tea are all self serve. Parking lots nearby get full. The Wells Fargo one down the street is free on Sundays and was completely empty.
Mazra has the wide varieties of vegetarian options. They have diff style of service either you can order through QR code or you can order from the counter. They have very fast service and very beautiful ambiance. I would highly recommend this place if you are falafel wrap.10/10
Very nice set up they have. The staff was very pleasant and helpful. Always smiling. Food was very good and provably why it is one of the busier restaurants on that street. Not a long wait as busy as they were and even then worth the wait if I had to.
I came here with my partner on a Thursday evening for dinner, and we had an alright time. We waited about 30 minutes before getting seated, and inside was beautiful decorated with lots of color. You order with a QR code by the table, and the food comes soon after. It was the food that was overall disappointing. Our Spiced Ice Tea drink was watery and had no strong "spice" to it at all. The kebabs were fine, with the filet mignon being solid, but the kofta was dry. The cauliflower was good, but it was really heavy with the tahini, and the rice overall was nothing special. The lamb chops were good though, and we enjoyed that meat the most. Regardless, we had a good time!
Mazra remains amazing, and it somehow continues to improve over time. It seems like the owners & staff are always looking for ways to make the guest experience better, and it shows! As much as Mazra is great at/known for their meats, they also put so much thought and care into their vegetables. For example, our favorite mezza is their Whole Cauliflower, which is a massive cauliflower head that's roasted and then coated with a lemon tahini dressing. (They also give you more lemon to squeeze on it.) The cauliflower always comes out perfectly roasted; the inner parts are tender and toothsome, while the outer parts are crispy and a deep, golden brown. Another great vegetable option is their Veggie Plate, which is a plate overflowing with delights on a bed of their rice: falafel; a segment of their cauliflower; roasted broccoli and potatoes; their saffron mushrooms; and a halloumi roll. Each item is about as perfect as can be, and the sheer quantity makes it a fantastic deal. Of course, we still love their shawarma plates, which you can get with either chicken or steak shawarma. The meat comes thinly cut and tender, and somehow still a bit juicy! The plates are also a great value, since they come with a ton of great items that pair well with the meat. These include a rich, savory sauce (toum [garlic sauce] with the chicken, tahini with the steak) and two of their amazing sides. My favorite sides are the baba ghannoush (creamy and earthy) and their fries (golden, crispy, and pillowy). They continue improving the space, too. The pickup window makes it so much easier to get takeout, and they've really dialed in the flow of the inside and back courtyard seating areas.
Hm. I'm honestly shell-shocked about my experience at Mazra compared with my expectations based on all of its known popularity. Many have even deemed it to be "the bay area's best Mediterranean food" which, to me, is definitely a reach. To start off, I'd absolutely recommend to dine inside as opposed to their outside patio for two reasons: not Mazra's fault per se, but there was such a foul stench of urine that permeated the entire atmosphere.. Secondly, the server basically never checks up on you at all. This leads me to the next point; in retrospect, I should have read the other reviews more closely, but paying and tipping are done right at the beginning. I definitely would have opted to tip less had I known there would be a lack of service that followed. For food, my husband and I ordered the famous whole cauliflower and 2 double kebab plates. The cauliflower was overbearingly heavy and creamy, yet simultaneously lacked salt. We only had a few bites of this and didn't even want to take it home. To be frank, I expected all of the dishes to wow me or at the very least, not be bland. The best sides were the tzatziki and garlic potatoes; everything else was simply lackluster. Additionally, the menu literally states that "all plates include garlic toum/hot sauce" yet ours didn't come with any. My husband literally had to get up and ask the hostess twice for these. Both of these sauces were honestly mandatory; they amped up the flavors better than any of the side sauces (hummus, baba ghanoush) that we ordered did.
We tried to eat at Mazra in San Bruno at 7 pm but driving by, the lines were already long. So we tried Mazra in Redwood City days later at almost 3 pm and we were seated immediately. The place was buzzing at that hour. I ordered the lamb chops cooked medium with basmati rice. The lamb was so tender and full of flavor. My husband ordered the Chicken BBQ plate with garlic roasted potatoes. I'm really not into Mediterranean food but I was curious about all the rave about this place and I must say, I loved it! Before our meals, we tried the free Turkish tea, quite strong for me, added several sugar packs but no milk available. However, this place is still a win! The service and ambiance, solid. Welcoming staff. It did not disappoint. I'm coming back!
We visited from LA and walked in on a Sunday at lunchtime with a group of six adults and three kids. We were seated very quickly on their outside patio. I loved their ordering process: you just scan the QR code on the table, place your order through your phone, pay, and enter your table number. Because of this, our group was able to pay separately with zero hassle. The food came out pretty fast, the presentation was great, and everything tasted delicious. I also loved the drinks we ordered. The only downside is that the portions are small for the price. I am used to Mediterranean food with big servings, so I was quite surprised. Overall, my group and I thoroughly enjoyed the food and ambience!
Came here for dinner and was impressed by how quick the service was. We were quoted a 30-minute wait but were seated within 10 minutes. The appetizer platters were delicious, especially the dips. For my main course, I ordered the lamb and chicken kebabs. The chicken was a little dry, but the lamb was spot on!
Awesome meal. I love Mediterranean food so this hit every mark for me. The location is great, downtown Redwood City has a lot to offer. Good for lunch alone, with a friend or client. The service was quick which was nice too. Food is very flavorful and filling. I'll definitely go back.

Was my first time visiting. Waitress answered whatever questions I had about the menu items. I had the shrimp and kofta kabobs with rice. It was very tasty! I would highly recommend this restaurant. read more

This is a very busy restaurant. Food is good, nice flavors. Protein portions are pretty small, with a lot of rice. The best thing in my opinion is the cauliflower. Service could be more attentive. You basically order from a QR code , you get your food and no one really checks on you after that. read more
Wow incredible! Mazra you are worth the wait because this place knows how to do Mediterranean food quite well. Habibi if you haven't been here yet, you're missing out. Came with friends and ordered a lot. Favorite things include the chicken rice plate, halloumi cheese rolls, dips sampler, cauliflower, and chicken wings. I wish we had space to order drinks and dessert but the food itself here is spectacular. Try to get indoor seating if possible but otherwise restaurant vibes are immaculate. read more
take it easy habibi ;) i'm an absolute fan of the ambiance and the service at mazra! the interior decor is exquisite as well. to note: each main comes with 2 sides of your choice, which can include hummus. we already ordered a falafel sampler, which also came with 6 varieties of hummus. and so we ended up with too much hummus XoX both the chicken and lamb were so good - gotta go back again for more. out of the hummus, my personal favs are the baba ghannoush & muhammara, and my friend enjoyed the tzatziki & cucumber yoghurt. read more
This is my first time at the Redwood City Mazra as I have been to the San Bruno location. Food and ambiance for both locations are excellent. There is a public paid parking lot near this Mazra which is nice, otherwise there is street parking. I came here around 1:30pm for a late lunch on a weekend, it was pretty busy - no wait though. I ordered their veggie plate, in general all plates at Mazra come with rice, pita, garlic toum, hot sauce, house pickles, and choice of two sides - in this case, I got their beet dip and their hummus. For the veggie plate, it comes with falafels, roasted cauliflower, grilled oyster mushroom, roasted potatoes, grilled veggies (asaparagus, carrot, shisito pepper), halloumi cheese roll and rice. Honestly this is a lot of food - for one person. Very good value. Anywho regarding the food - the falafels are fine, classic falafels. The highlight for me was the grilled oyster mushrooms and the roasted cauliflower. The oyster mushrooms were delicious - loved the seasoning and grilled flavor on it. The roasted cauliflower with a sauce on top was delicious. The roasted potatoes were lightly crisp on outside and very fluffy and soft on the inside, went nicely with their sauces. The grilled veggies were nice as well. The halloumi cheese roll was new to me, when I saw it, I thought of an egg roll but in it was savory and had the halloumi cheese on it. I do wish it had a sauce with it. For the beet dip and hummus, they were excellent with the warm pita bread. I definitely recommend this place and will come back again. read more
Worth the hype but not worth a 90 minute wait. Next time I'll stop by on a weeknight instead. Inside of the restaurant is gorgeous and ordering is super easy via QR code. The food took a while to come out but once it did.. we devoured everything. Only thing I wasn't a huge fan of was the cauliflower but that's because it ended up being mostly stem. The seasonings on the florets were super tasty. We tried the chicken and kofta kebabs and the chicken shawarma. I loved the kofta - it was super flavorful and the meat was so tender! Will pass on chicken kebab next time, I found it was a little too charred and on the drier side. Chicken shawarma was definitely the better chicken option. Their toum is DELICIOUS and tzatziki is refreshing with the perfect amount of tang. And the portion sizes are just right, we had leftovers for days. Only reason I'm rating as a 4 because of the service - it was on the slow side and we ordered from a QR code and didn't interact with any of the staff beyond "thank you" so felt a bit impersonal for the price point. read more

My friend really wanted to bring us here and I'm glad he did! The first attempt, the line was super long so we bailed. The second time, it was much better. You can't make reservations in the evening, but we were able to get a seat after waiting for 20 or so minutes on a Friday evening. We had a dog with us, and they were able to find us a table in the patio out back. They have patio seating in the front, seating in the restaurant proper, and then more seating in the back patio. The ambiance inside looked really nice, but they didn't want our dog (we don't claim ESA) in the main restaurant. The patio out back was also nice, with a water fountain. Our dog was able to sit under the table and take a nap. The restaurant is BUSY, so the crowd volume was loud, but we could still have a conversation. Behind me was another table and I could hear pretty much their whole conversation. The food was all very good. We did family-style, where we shared all the dishes amongst us. I think the roast chicken might be harder to share, because you have to carve it. read more

I've dined at the original Mazra in San Bruno many years ago. This location has beautiful outdoor seating however it was quite cold and windy and it wasn't until I went to the bathroom at the end did I notice that they also had garden seating in the back -- I would've liked to be offered that as a dining option as it looked quite sunny and calm. Service was friendly. You scan the QR code to place your order. They bring the food to your table as it's made. The appetizers were small and a little overpriced -- especially the halloumi for $12 and falafel for $9, both were tiny 3 bite items. I was hoping the wings $16 would be more flavorful but you really need their dipping sauce. Fries $6 were basic. I enjoyed the kofta kebab more than the lamb kebab -- both were $9. The best was the beef shawarma wrap for $16, both flavorful and a good sharing size. Total bill $78.02 -- a little weird that you're asked to tip prior to even being served your meal read more

first at Mazda's and it did not disappoint * started off first with a whole head of grilled cauliflower as an appetizer loved the charred bits and the sauce that is on and under the cauliflower * i got the steak shawarma plate and it was so yummy and flavourful * my boyfriend got the grilled lamb chops plate and that was super tasty we also grabbed the ayran yogurt probiotic drink it was more salty and savoury than expected very cute vibes i loved the open kitchen views as well and general nice vibes from the patio to the inside read more
I saw Mazra on Grubhub and tried to do a pickup order for my group, but the system wouldn't let me complete the order when I got to the final checkout step. I wished they'd say they were not accepting Grubhub orders at the moment so I didn't keep trying to place the order. I ended up ordering from Mazra directly using the Toast limit hat they texte me. The place was busy on a Tuesday night, and they had a lot of takeout orders ready when I checked in at the front. When I got back to the car I realized they didn't include utensils though so I went back to request them. I got the dish that I liked at the other Mazra location - double chicken kebab plate with baba ghanoush and tried the beet dip this time which was tasty too. I also tried the fried chicken and hummus that others in my group ordered. We shared the banana date shake. My group liked the food. Portions are large so we had leftovers. read more
We had such a lovely dining experience at Mazra yesterday! We ordered the Double Kebabs Plate, Dips Trio, and Fattoush Salad, and everything was absolutely delicious. The babaganoush and muhammara was especially excellent! It's also incredibly kid-friendly, which made the whole experience even better. My toddler loved both the chicken kebab and kofta kebab. Great food and welcoming atmosphere. I need to try the halloumi next time, and the cauliflower, so will definitely be back! read more

The hype is real! Loved our meal at Mazra, well worth the wait on Saturday for a walk in party of 8. We got in around 5, so didn't have to wait too long. The ordering is easy via QR code, the water and tea is free at a self serve station. Great and easy for a large group. We got a bunch of dishes to share and loved everything - especially the filet mignon! read more

Mazra is a beloved Bay Area gem! It's a must visit for me anytime we have visitors in town. Not only is their food fresh and delicious, their hospitality and warmth radiate through the restaurant. It does get busy on the weekends and we've been turned away from even joining the waitlist at times, but I'll always keep going back. The space itself is beautiful and welcoming, and you can smell the char of the grilled meat from down the block. Some of my go-tos are the chicken shawarma plate, beef shawarma plate, garlic rotisserie plate, and halloumi cheese rolls. We always get extra garlic sauce and hot sauce. Loved this place. I would have given them a 5 star, only if it wasn't self service and the spacing between tables were not so tightly packed. It was difficult to have a "serious" conversation while dining there. The food was excellent and packed with flavors. The chicken shawarma was delicious and the meat was moist. The charcoal makes all the different. The filet mignon and chicken kebab combo was juicy smoky and well seasoned over rice. The babaganoush was smoky and tasty as well. Very fresh! My favorite was the grilled arayes which were so nicely seasoned and piping hot. Very good with the hummus. The Cheese Halloumi rolls were nice a crispy with generous amounts of cheese; didn't love it with the honey though. Very fresh pita bread that went well with all the dips. For my entree, I got the garlic rotisserie plate. While the chicken was cooked perfectly, it tasted like a plain rotisserie chicken with no garlic flavor. The garlic flavor just came from the garlic sauce which comes with almost all other entrees anyways. Fries and garlic potatoes were decent. Someone else in my party also ordered the garlic rotisserie chicken and her chicken came out dry, so that raises concerns about consistency. The service was good despite how busy they were. Wow the food is amazing!!! The portion size is so large too that I barely made a dent before taking the rest home. The halloumi cheese rolls.... Still thinking about them months later LOL It's pretty much self service in the way that after they seat you, you order yourself on your phone, get your own utensils, but they do check on people often! It was nice sitting outside until the rain got us BUT otherwise I think on a nice sunny day, it would be a nice chill place to eat :) read more
Why 5 stars? Because I will be thinking about the Chicken Shawarma for a long time. --- --- --- As a conference I was attending nearby was soon to wrap up, I placed a pickup order from Mazra so I could scarf down lunch before meeting up with a friend. I was inside the building for approximately 6.2 seconds to grab my bag and then walked about a mile to my hotel where this was consumed. I share that detail with you to illustrate that it's not like I ate this the way god intended. And yet, upon the first bite hitting my lips, the delay in consumption proved to not matter. I really don't know how this managed to be so amazing. Was it the bread? Was it the chicken? Was it the fixins? All of the above? Either way, I loved every bite and the sauces that accompanied were great too. I think one was a little light garlic mix and the other was something with an orangeish hue. I enjoyed taking pretty much every other bite alternating sauces because they were very different but equally enjoyable. Mazra's excellent Yelp rating is very much earned and I am glad I got to experience it! read more

Giving this place 4/5 stars because it is definitely a bit overhyped imo haha. The food IS good, the restaurant is beautiful, and service was good. HOWEVER, I'm not sure the flavors were anything special. Yes, the food is so vibrant and the variety is awesome. But from all the dishes we got, nothing stood out and made us yell "YUM". The portions are good for the price, but again.....it wasn't too worth it after tasting the food. None of it was bland, but none of it was as flavorful as we expected (from the colors, presentation, variety, etc.). My expectations were just very high coming in and I was a bit disappointed..... At the end of the day though, this is a solid Mediterranean restaurant. A great place to come with friends or family. A menu with lots of variety to please everyone! read more

I came here with friends for a girls' brunch and really enjoyed the food and atmosphere! I ordered a strawberry lemonade (very refreshing), a halloumi appetizer, and chicken and rice plate. My friends each ordered other dishes (like the cauliflower or the double kebab with filet mignon) and we shared everything family-style. All of the dishes were well seasoned, well portioned, healthy, and tasty. I will say, their portion sizes are hefty so I had food for multiple days afterwards! The meal total came out to about $51.94 for all that food (for me, individually). Their ordering system is also unique in that you scan a QR code on the table linked to your table number, and a server brings your meal directly to you. At first I thought it was annoying, but I ended up loving it because then there's no splitting the bill at the end--everyone orders individually! read more
Mazra was so delicious! came on a sunday around 2pm and there was a short wait to get seated. I ordered the chicken shawarma plate and the lamb plate. Both were so good! The sides were generous as well. I also enjoyed the self serve hot spiced tea. Service was minimal, I sat outdoors so I just ordered from my phone. read more
