Our visit to Bahche was around 6pm on a Friday. The restaurant was not very crowded and we were seated quickly. There was ample free street parking one block to the South on South Delaware. We liked the restaurant because they are dog friendly. They have outdoor seating. The servers were great and brought water for our dog. The food was good. It was served quickly and was still hot. We ordered a kale salad ($17), the chicken souvlaki ($16) and a seafood paella ($39). We found the flavors to be good, but the chicken was incredibly dry. The paella was good. When we order paella, our favorite part is the crusty, flavorful part that is burned into the pan. Unfortunately, the paella at Bahche is served in a different pan than where it was cooked, so the crusty part is missing. The advantage for them to do it this way is that they can cook it in large batches and serve it quickly when ordered. Although we did kind of miss that component of the meal, we liked that they had both chicken and salmon in the paella, making it more substantial. They must have done a shift change when we were there. Some restaurants will introduce the new server, but we did not experience that during our visit. After we finished our meal, we had to wait awhile before our server appeared. It seemed unusual because the restaurant did not seem very busy at the time. I really wanted to love Bahche. We came for the husband's birthday dinner, and the restaurant itself is beautiful, with a menu that had us pretty excited. We started with the babaganoush, which unfortunately was pretty meh. Not bad, just bland and forgettable, and not the start that had me excited for what was coming. The lamb chops were easily the star of the meal. Beautifully charred, juicy, flavorful, and served with chimichurri and potatoes. Those I would absolutely order again. The lamb kebab, on the other hand, was dry and uninspiring. Krish's ribeye with mushroom demi-glace was alright, but not great. Again, nothing was outright bad, but for the price and a celebratory dinner, we expected considerably more. The other disappointment was the seating. We had mentioned that we were celebrating a birthday, yet somehow got stuck in a corner. With such a lovely restaurant and atmosphere, it felt like we missed out on some of the experience. So Mediterranean isn't my favorite cuisine, so keep that in mind. I ordered 2 kabobs, shirmp and meat. The shrimp was overcooked and the meat was dry, so the food was a bit disappointing. The service on the other hand was great, the wait staff was friendly and made us feel very welcomed. We came during lunch, and at first we were the only ones, by the time we left, there was one other table. The atmopshere is casual and hasn't changed much since the last restaurant was here. I would get it again, but if I wanted a paella, I wouldn't come here. But if I was here, I would try the paella. The rice wasn't that flavorful, and I wish there was more meat and not just seafood in the paella. The salmon was a little strange, and they had very large chunks of salmon in there. I didn't think it really fit the vibe of the paella. Also, it was really wet of a paella. The patatas bravas left more to be desired. I thought they were cut too large, so I felt like I was eating potatoes and not patatas bravas. I didn't get the Greek fries, but the waiter walked past with some, and those looked better, so I would probably recommend that instead. It was pretty empty. Came to celebrate an anniversary and staff acknowledged it immediately upon arrival. The space is very cute and decorated well. There's also outdoor seating for warmer weather. We ordered the ceviche ($21), papas bravas ($11), kale salad ($17), salmon ($35), and seafood pasta ($34). The ceviche was fresh and I really liked the citrusy notes (it was quite tropical and I thought it was possibly passionfruit?). The papas bravas was a decent sized serving and came with an addictive sauce. The kale salad came with a piece of fried feta and the only fault I found with it... was that I wanted more fried feta bits! Salmon was cooked well, and I liked the accompanying veggies - seemed like a very healthy Mediterranean dish. The seafood pasta was also very good. Husband said the fish in his dish was cooked even better than mine. Lastly, they offered us a whole complimentary dessert. We were already beyond stuffed at that point, but who are we to turn down a coconut creme brulee? Another review said they couldn't taste the coconut, but it's definitely there. We came on a chilly night and easily got a reservation inside this small but inviting restaurant. I wish the hadn't kept the doors wide open. The restaurant felt colder than we typically like. The food was very good, though the prices felt high for the portion sizes. Our favorites were the falafel (excellent flavor and perfectly fried that didn't need the sauce), the lamb chops, and the whole branzino. We were surprised wasn't more crowded as they have a beautiful patio outside for a nice lunch. The hummus with pita bread was delicious, creamy and gently flavored. We enjoyed a nonalcoholic blonde with it. That was surprisingly tasty! Red grapefruit peel gave it a great flavor sort of like a ginger ale without the sugar. The Server was prompt, friendly, and spontaneously showed up with extra warmed pita bread, just at the right time! This ceviche was larger chunks of onions, peppers, tomatoes, along with shrimp, calamari, and octopus accompanied by plantain chips. That was a great summer salad! We recently visited a new Mediterranean restaurant in San Mateo for dinner. When we arrived, the place wasn't too busy. Although the restaurant is relatively small, it features a pleasant bar area. Interior is very nice. The chair may be need more cushion. They offer a variety of white and red wines, but it seems they don't serve cocktails. The menu boasts plenty of options to choose from. We ordered the spread combination, sauted veggie dish, souvlakis tenderloin, souvlakis chicken, and seafood paella. The spread combination came with four types of spreads, all of which were delicious, and the pita bread was still warm. The veggie dish was well-cooked, not overly soft, and the chicken was tender though slightly salty. The tenderloin was tasty, but some parts were a bit tough; a knife for cutting the tenderloin would have been appreciated. The seafood paella was flavorful, but I believe it would be better without the chicken, as it is a seafood dish. The chicken itself was tender, but all-seafood paella would be good enouugh. Overalk the price is reasonable. We ended our meal with a chocolate lava cake, which was delightful and served warm. Overall, it was a good dinner with excellent service. We each ordered a glass of wine, and the staff were kind enough to let us sample two different options before deciding on what we wanted. Nice relatively new spot in the same little plaza with the mirror maze in the front and Blue Bottle. It's a small space, but there is a pretty bar in the center of the restaurant. Our server was nice, but she was also co-managing the bar, so service was spotty. We loved the sampler dip which came with 4 of the mezzes- a hummus, tzatziki, eggplant yogurt, and a red pepper based one. Liked them all, but probably the red pepper one muhammara was most flavorful if I had to pick one. Caesar salad was basic, except with one twist- the parmesean was baked into one huge crisp. My husband enjoyed his chicken kabab and found it flavorful, I always find kebabs to be too chewy, and this one was no different for me. The beef burger was super juicy and personally had all my favorite burger toppings: ie sauteed onions, avocado, mushrooms, cheese. They also have a garden burger and lamb burger. The paella was tender and flavorful- average amount of clams/mussels/squid; I found the salmon bits most tasty- but that was sparse. Overall had a lovely dinner. This particular side of San Mateo is going through some renovations, there are a couple of new venues opening in the surrounding area. I hope they are as good as Bahche! I met up with my mate for lunch on a rather warm Monday afternoon and was very happy with our choice of venue. I was a bit skeptical of the glowing reviews, but thought we'd give it a shot. We don't have Greek or Mediterranean food that often. While it's not the largest of venues, Bahche is very welcoming with its high ceilings and natural light. There is plenty of counter seating at the bar and a handful of tables along the wall. There was some outdoor seating as well, but in this heatwave... forget about it! Plenty of parking available around the neighborhood. I'm not sure if there is a garage close by. We choose to order a couple of appetizers and share a main dish. We weren't sure of the portion sizes and didn't want to go overboard. They get your appetite going! *Hummus ~ silky chickpea, yogurt, lemon, olive oil. There's a sweetness from caramelized onions. *Tzatziki ~ house yogurt, lemon, olive oil, dill. A little more creamy than average. *Muhammara ~ charred eggplant, house yogurt, lemon, olive oil. You can taste the smokiness! I think this was my favorite. *Melitzanosalata ~ roasted peppers, isot chili, walnuts, pomegranate molasses. We enjoyed the four dips and their unique, distinctive flavors. Though I think the plate was a little too big that it was visually bare. It has good ambiance, located in a nice area and has good service. We ordered several dishes and everything was very well made -- flavourful, decent serving size and yummy. Bahche is a modern twist on Greek & Mediterranean flavors is the motto and we believe they delivered! The homie and I met up here for lunch on a Labor Day afternoon and were blown away. I was skeptical at the reviews, knowing new places that open up are hit or miss and most of the early positive reviews are people who have minimal friends or reviews on Yelp! So we wanted to give it a fair shot. We ordered a couple appetizers and a main. We ordered the Spread Combination where we got to try a variety of dips with some pita bread. Really enjoyed the hummus (it had a sweetness from the caramelized onions that really stood out. The Muhammara which is a charred eggplant, house yogurt, lemon, olive oil was also really amazing flavor. The Tzatziki and Melitzanosalata were also good, but the two contrasting flavors of the Hummus and Muhammara were the winners for me. The other appetizer we got was the Octapodaki. Absolutely brilliant cook on the octopus. It was super soft and not at all chewy and was paired together with papas in a lovely romesco sauce. Would definitely come back just for this! We shared the Seafood Paella as a main course and while it was definitely rice heavy and lacking a lot of seafood, but it was packed with flavor, just wish there was more protein. The salmon reminded me of what Filipinos use in sinigang. Overall this dish was a 4 out of 5, but a solid option. We do want to go back and order the Souvlakis. Felt like we had ordered a lot and didn't want to over do it. We really enjoyed the atmosphere of the place. It is small inside, mostly wine bar seating and 8 tables inside along the wall separated by the entrance door. They do offer outdoor seating as well. It was a nice day for it, but think we preferred indoor seating with the AC as it was a hot one today. The star of the show today was our waiter/bartender, Arlen. Hope that is accurate, but he was attentive and informative with his knowledge of the food and wine. My friend and I were planning to get dessert elsewhere, but Arlen offered us to try a dessert on the house. So we conferred with him and decided to go with the Bread Pudding with vanilla ice cream. We ordered food from Bahche while at Fieldworks using the QR code. I should mention that the online menu had very little description. The Bahche hamburger was OK...I liked the caramelized onions, but other than that it was just OK. Roam burger (which was replaced by Bagche) had way better burgers. I asked for medium...and I got well done. The meat had little flavor. The pickles were good...but why is it that just the pickles give the burger flavor? It was also quite messy. I paid an extra dollar to upgrade my fries...they just sprinkled seasoning on it. LAME. Can't recommend the Bahche burger, especially for the price. The kalamarakia was supposed to be calamari...the calamari that was there was good...but they also filled our box with non calamari...as if they think we can't tell a vegetable from calamari. It tasted good for batter-fried vegetable...but if I'm ordering calamari, I want calamari. The marinara sauce and the tartar sauce was OK and well-seasoned. I would not recommend, because 50% of it isn't calamari. Sadly, this was the best value of the items we ordered. We also ordered two plates with rice...and most of the dish was rice. The salads were good, but for what you pay...no. The food was bland (my brother-in-law started looking for hot sauce) and overcooked. If you're paying a certain price for food...it better be good. Maybe if you go in and you pay for the ambiance and the service, that's great. But then discount your take-out menu if you're dishing out bargain bin food. This was for my husband's birthday. Bahche's service, when ordering through Fieldwork Brewing in San Mateo, was such a disappointment that it overshadowed an otherwise lovely afternoon at the brewery. I understand Fieldwork's kitchen is temporarily closed for renovations and that they've partnered with Bahche across the street, but based on my experience, that partnership is doing Fieldwork no favors. We placed what should have been a very simple order: hummus and french fries. Instead of a quick, casual snack, the food took nearly an hour to arrive from directly across the street. During that wait, I tried to call Bahche for an update, only to discover their phone wasn't even in service. At that point, we were ready to leave and I decided to walk over in person to cancel the order. On my way, I ran into an employee pulling a wagon full of food, presumably other delayed orders. When I tried to speak with him, he was openly dismissive, and when I asked if I could cancel my order, he simply ignored me and kept walking. That interaction alone was enough to sour the experience as it felt like they had no respect for customers' time or concerns. Since I'd already paid nearly $25 for just hummus and fries, we ended up staying to eat them, and somehow the food managed to be worse than the service. The fries were limp, soggy, completely unseasoned, and tasted like they had been sitting far too long. The hummus was so watery it barely clung to anything, served with a sad collection of randomly cut pieces of what was clearly store‑bought pita tossed haphazardly into a brown bag. For the price, it felt careless and almost insulting. I sincerely hope Fieldwork reconsiders this partnership. The experience reflects poorly not just on Bahche, but on Fieldwork's overall offering, and that's a real shame for a place that otherwise does so much right. There are plenty of local small businesses and food trucks that would be thrilled, and far more equipped, to provide a basic level of timely, respectful, and competent service. read more

Since we were a fairly large group, we were seated outside, but there was an adequate amount of heat lamps and the blankets were a nice added touch. He shared that the restaurant's name is a Turkish word which means garden and is pronounced like "bah-CHEH". Our party of four shared dishes from their menu. The Spread Combination as an appetizer got us started on warm pita bread served with tzatziki, hummus, melitzanosalata (made from roasted garlic), and muhammara made primarily from roasted res peppers. The Kale Salad with strawberry slices and orange segments, red quinoa, almond slices and drizzled with orange citrus dressing was good. A single small slice of fried feta cheese was brought to follow. We also shared Souvlaki Plates which were served with rice, salad with cucumber, onion, and tomato. The Grilled Tenderloin Souvlaki was very delicious. Perfectly grilled and so tasty that we had to order an extra skewer. The Chicken Souvlaki was also good. The Lamb Chops were perfectly chargrilled and served on a bed of potato wedges cooked in rosemary, garlic and butter. We were very satisfied with the food and service. Where do I begin? What an experience, on a perfect drizzling day, very grateful to the owner for making sure my daughters enjoyed a meal with their Papa. From a few appetizers like the octopus, ceviche and the spread, to the souvlaki and Seafood Paella.... and to me, the meticulously grilled Branzino... three letters define this lunch to end our 2025 ----- W O W ! until then, Yusuf! A decent dinner spot in Burlingame. I came in with a friend and we split a bottle of sparkling wine to start the evening. We began with the hummus, which was really tasty and fresh, great start to the meal. For my main, I ordered the Mediterranean pasta and really enjoyed it. The mix of veggies like zucchini, artichoke, and broccoli added great texture and flavor. It was a well-balanced and satisfying dish. We ended with the baklava, which was nicely flaky, though a bit too sweet for my taste. The space itself is very clean and modern, which made for a pleasant dining atmosphere. Service, however, was just okay. It took quite a while for our entrées to arrive, and our server didn't check in with us until the end of the meal. read more

We had dinner with my friends here yesterday, and let me tell ya. This place is amazing. Starting with cozy, chill vibes from the moment you enter the restaurant, to THE delicious food and super fun, kind staff. We had a birthday party here. Ordered the Spread combination to begin with. Absolutely in love with hummus and babaganus. I got a Salmon plate aka Solomos for me. It was really good, perfectly cooked and it comes with some veggies. My friends got Seafood paella, Seafood linguini. The food is great, and the portions are huge. After the mains we had some desserts. Chocolate lava cake is sooo good ughhh, you gotta try it. Definitely will come back (as I already know what I want to try next time). So glad we chose this place for the birthday celebration. Shout out to Arlen, Stefany, and Jeorge. Seafood paella was good, but has chicken, so not just seafood good sized portion, enough for 2 people. Beef tenderloin skewers didn't taste super fresh, though. It kind of had that beefy taste as if it had been in the fridge for a couple days. Service was nice though read more
