I really wanted to like this place, but the atmosphere felt more pretentious than welcoming. It seemed like the staff cared more about projecting an exclusive, "too cool for you" vibe than making customers feel comfortable. Being upscale is one thing, but treating people like they're inconveniencing you is another. The bartender (white/blonde hair) didn't greet us and reply when we thanked him and said goodbye. Rude! The drinks were decent, but nothing that justified the attitude. We had their special cocktail called the Thirteenthmonth and the Shasta Daisy. The Shasta Daisy is a tequila citrus drink but has an unpleasant nervy feel to it. There are plenty of bars with great cocktails where the staff are friendly and genuinely happy to have you there. Started off with the tater tots and they felt frozen and simply fried...bummer Moved on to the eggplant sliders which was quite tasty. The bread was fresh and the eggplant was lightly breaded. The twelvemonth salad was decent. It was quite light and refreshing. The tempura mushrooms that were a hit last time didn't feel too fresh. Felt like the mushrooms had been hanging out for some time. The lasagna was also ok. The pasta didn't seem too fresh. The marinera sauce was quite light though. Ended off the meal with the vanilla soft serve which was decent. It wasn't super creamy though. Incredible vegan brunch and sides, but service was a complete communication disaster. Twelvemonth is a beautiful restaurant with an organized, upscale, and luxurious interior feel. I've been here a few times now, and while I usually come for dinner, I recently tried their weekend brunch for the first time; and the food was absolutely delicious! Mimosa: Really good and a great start to the meal. Breakfast Sliders: Perfect ratio; not too much breading, a great amount of sauce, and the vegan meat was packed with flavor. French Toast: Incredibly fluffy, soft, and tasted amazing. Quiche: The texture was spot on, very flavorful, and made even better by the sauce drizzled on top. Dinner Comparison: Having been here for dinner previously, we've realized we vastly prefer their smaller plates over the mains. Their Lumpia Shanghai, Korean Fried Chicken Sliders, Loaded Tater Tots, and Biscuits & Gravy are phenomenal. However, when we tried the main courses like the ramen and risotto, we felt they just weren't as good or flavorful compared to the sides. The Service: Unfortunately, the service on this brunch visit was a complete mess. They sat us at a corner table in an empty area. We waited 10 minutes with no water and no server in sight, so we finally had to wave someone down. The person who helped us wasn't even our assigned server, but she kindly offered to take care of us anyway. After getting our food, we were only visited once; again, by a different worker. Meanwhile, our actual server was actively checking on the table right behind us but completely ignored us until we were practically done eating. Every time we needed plates, the check, or wanted to order more food/drinks, we had to wave down random servers walking past. There was zero communication and it felt like a total disaster. I'm rating Twelvemonth 3 stars after my most recent visit. While their brunch was absolutely amazing; the service this time was a complete disaster. We were sat in the corner booth area and the lack of staff communication was a total mess. This has never happened on my previous two visits, so I'm hoping it was just a one off bad day, but they really need to fix their service coordination over there. Another reason for the 3-star rating is the consistency of the food itself. On past visits, we have found the main courses on their all day dinner menu (like the ramen and risotto) to be totally flavorless. However, their side dishes like the lumpia and Korean fried chicken sliders are great. FANTASTIC EXPERIENCE!! Best vegan food I have ever had in any restaurant in the Bay Area. My mom took me to celebrate my birthday and let me say-- it was the best experience. First of all, the building is absolutely GORGEOUS! Very classy and modern and an all around great vibe. Secondly, service was just as amazing. The ladies at the front were SO welcoming and sweet. Our waitress (I wish I remembered her name, but she's got beautiful curly hair), was so attentive, gave us great recommendations and made sure we had everything we needed. Our water and dirty plates were refilled and replaced constantly by other lovely waiters as well. Excellent service!! Now, the FOOD is where it's all at. I am not 100% vegan, but growing up with my mother who is vegan, I've had a fair share of vegan food experiences. Love the spacious and airy ambiance! Been here 4 times over 2025 and 2026. The first couple of times were great. The last two times have been meh in terms of both food and service. The food menu has remained relatively static and at this point, we've sampled nearly everything on the menu. Highly recommend all the salads, especially the Twelvemonth salad, the beet dish, the dumplings, the semifreddo and the pear cobbler. Everything else is strictly okay and can be hit or miss. Vegan food and I have come a long way. And Twelvemonth proves vegan food itself has come a long way. I remember going to a vegan place with my mom as a child and they put alfalfa sprouts on everything. I remember eating carob candy. It was bitter, so not chocolate! For years, all my associations were with bland, not so appealing food. Well, Twelvemonth brings the flavor. They bring the texture. Most of all they bring the creativity. The potion sizes are generous and lend themselves to sharing, which we did. We had a starter, a salad, and a pasta. The standout dish was the Campanelle. The presentation was gorgeous and screamed spring. It had English peas, pickled mushrooms, green garlic, spring onion. It melted in your mouth and the morels were plentiful. Our appetizer was the Iacopi Farms Italian Butter Beans, whipped with rosemary, garlic confit, and chili and fennel seed oil. It was served with two pieces of toasted sourdough. We really needed three pieces. We ended up ordering another side of sourdough to mop up all that creamy goodness. It was garlic forward, which was fine by me. We had the Tea Party Salad which had frisee & fava leaves, spring crudites, strawberries, lavender lemon dressing, and rose almonds. It was well-balanced for the most part, but I wanted more strawberry to tackle the bitter greens. We added crispy tofu, which I recommend. We got the smaller portion, and it was huge. The restaurant is spacious and well-appointed, with high ceilings and exposed brick. The seating, at least the booths, is plush. The plants are real. The overall vibe is very California and very relaxing. Service was wonderful. The staff is attentive and allows you to dine at your own pace. Their only stumble was dessert. We tried the Tahini cake. It had good flavor but was so dense I couldn't eat much. The matcha ice cream and brittle were really good though. I blame the gluten free aspect of it. This was truly a lovely dining experience. The soft serve was so good, it was very nostalgic to have it again after so many years! They had great gluten free vegan options for bread for dip and sliders, server was very friendly and knowledgeable. The food was very slow to come out which was a downside, people who were sat after us got food first, but this may have been because they were preparing our food to be gluten free? There was not any explanation about that as we sat waiting. Our tots that we ordered never came out, and the server didn't seem surprised or apologetic at all when we mentioned it to him, he seemed to shrug it off and asked "do you want them now?" Tots with dessert aren't really a great combo. We did feel a bit forgotten at times, not being checked on for 20 minutes or more after receiving part of the meal, some mains some starters coming out first then nothing for 20+ minutes and no one coming to check in and explain the wait wasn't great. For the cost of food I would have expected better service and at least some communication as to why it was taking so long. Made plans with my girl friend visiting from LA to meet at Twelvemonth for happy hour. I love their summer sangria, it was refreshing, fruity and light. It was so good that I had to order another one. We noshes on some small plates: candied peanuts with togarashi, the steamed dumplings, the impossible pork lumpia and their crispy mushrooms. What an amazing experience! My close friend frequents Twelvemonth a few times a month and always has rave reviews so I had to try it. Since it was my wife and I's first time on a date in a long time, we splurged and went for the "chef's tasting" experience. They really take care of you there. You face the kitchen and watch where all of the magic happens. Service was great and when our server was busy, another person checked in with us to make sure all was well. The manager also swung by to chat, but in a noninvasive way. If anyone remembers Steel Head Brewery, it looks like a totally different place with a different vibe. They even remodeled the former bar and created these lounge rooms/areas you can reserve for bigger parties. Now don't shoot the messenger. I am an extremist carnivore at heart. I gave this place a fair shot. Although I am not vegan by any means, I was very impressed by the food. At the Chef's Tasting, the food changes so everyone will try different things. The restaurant is definitely beautiful. All aesthetic details have been tended to. Not pictured but we started w the fried mushrooms for apps, which were tasty. The bolognese and the risotto were also nice. I slightly preferred the risotto over the bolognese. These were not our first choices but they were out of our first two choices at 7pm. I heard the table next to us also have to attempt multiple times at the wines bc the waiter kept coming back to say they were out. The tahini cake was quite dry. The flavor of the matcha ice cream that came with it tasted like cheap matcha. The cobbler was pretty typical. We marked on our reservation that we were coming for our anniversary. The hostess wished us happy anniversary upon arrival and our waiter came out w an extra scoop of vanilla ice cream for dessert without any extra mention from us. The ice cream had a melted soft serve consistency. The flavor was typical. The drinks were worth skipping. We had a nice time at dinner but I was expecting more flavor wise at this price point. Aside from the fried mushrooms, I felt like I could have made better tasting versions at home. The portions were also pretty small. I left still wanting to more to eat. Normally I am brunch person but once I saw eggplant parm sliders I had to get it. Was very tough choice as so many items sounded delicious so I will have to come back! Eggplant was cutlet style, nicely crisped . Buns were lightly toasted and had surprisingly buttery texture considering its vegan, it had hint of sweetness too not bad but also not my preference. The sauce was perfect amount, I'm slow eater and my slider didn't get soggy yay. I couldn't taste the pesto, probably could have had tad more. Could swear menu said provolone and mozzarella but am pretty sure I tasted American cheese. Perhaps that's the way vegan cheese tastes not sure. An Italian cheese would have been preferred and more zesty tomato sauce to balance sweet notes from bread. I believe this was in bar bites section, I wasn't sure if it was gonna be enough food judging by portion size when it arrived . But it was fine in the end, probably helped I had a cappuccino with the meal. It was good overall but a bit pricy for $20. My friends both ordered breakfast burritos which came with a side of tots or salad for $24. Definitely a better option if you have big appetite or arrived ravenous. One friend really enjoyed while the other didn't seem wowed . It was odd they ordered same item but one burrito had more stuffing in it . My friend pointed out and they brought a side of chorizo. It was also odd that my friend asked to have same hot beverage as me and his arrived in a mug double the size. Maybe they brought a latte instead of cappuccino? But were charged for 2 cappuccino. The staff were super friendly and brought the menus + water bowl for Coco right away. There was enough sauce to cover the pasta so nothing was dry and the pasta tasted fresh. The tater tots that came with the chicken sandwich were perfectly crunchy with soft potato inside. The chicken sandwich was well seasoned and not dry at all. I can't remember what my friends got, but their plates were clean by the time our double date was coming to an end.
