Khachapuri ($26)
Wendi K.

4.5 Stars This was my first time having Georgian food :) -Beef & Lamb Khinkali ($25 for 5) - ask for the hot/chili sauce for these! They are pretty huge. -Khachapuri ($26) - THE FAMOUS bread boat. Delicious & Super rich. You cannot go wrong with this. -Chicken Mtsvadi ($29) - This was good, but not memorable. Only nits - the service felt kind of rushed at times and it was a tad on the expensive side (the quality makes up for it though) There is a nice patio we brought a dog on, and there is also plenty of seating inside.

this was my first time trying georgian food, so i was intrigued and excited. the place was bustling but not packed on a sunday around 1pm. was seated quickly on the outdoor patio and our order was taken shortly after. waited longer for water than i would have liked (maybe 5-10 min after ordering) and service was much less involved than i thought; i'm just accustomed to having someone check in on me throughout the meal and to offer the check. seats on the patio were also very close together, i could smell the breath of someone at the table next to me unfortunately. khachapuri adjaruli (6/10): the bread was dense but soft and chewy. i like the cheese but can't taste the egg or butter much. alone it got tiring after a bit, but with the chanakhi it was a nice carb-y compliment. lobiani (4/10): flaky pastry cooked to a lovely golden brown. filling was simple but something in the herbs was giving it a unique kick (reminds me of cumin). the sauce is tangy and breaks up the thickness of the beans. chanakhi (6/10): the pot this was served in was so cute! the pomegranate seeds were unexpected but gave delicious bursts of fruitiness during the meal. lamb was so tender and shredded easily, bell peppers and potatoes were cooked more tender. not my favorite flavor profiles and the service was not as i expected for the price point, but i'm glad i got to try a new cuisine. if i did end up back here, i would maybe want to try the dumplings and desserts

Was craving some khachapuri so decided to try Bevri in Palo Alto. This place is conveniently located in PA downtown on University Avenue and you can find public parking garages nearby, if street parking is unavailable. The place has a very interesting ambience - interesting artifacts representing Georgia like an old timey globe, posters, paintings all very carefully selected to transport you into the Georgian dining experience. The khachapuri was warm and delicious. The cheese was on the saltier side even for the goat/feta that is usually used. It paired well with the bread and worked for me, however it was a little too salty for my partner's taste. The mushroom khinkhali or steamed dumplings were mildly flavored and comforting. I wish they introduced spinach+cheese or other vegetarian khachapuri options on their menu.

The food here is so yummy and interesting - I've never had Georgian food before. The khachapuri adjaruli was my favorite - so indulgent and delicious. The bread was so soft and paired with the cheese and egg was delicious. I also got the chicken with the salad, which was a perfect pairing with the bread.

Walked into Bevri on a Tuesday night and we got seated right away. We ordered the khachapuri adjaruli and khinkali dumplings with mushrooms for 3 people. Both items were tasty and very filling. It was enough for the three of us to share. One thing to note: they don't take tips like true European style.

Highlights: * Role model of Service! * Delicious food & Food Khachapuri - this was the star of the show for me, which was a surprise since I generally avoid cheese. While I took lactaid ahead of time, the Khachapuri bread was the perfect amount of crisp and the cheese was soft. Chalaghaji - reminded me of American barbeque ribs but with Georgian spices. We asked for mashed potatoes as the side and they seemed to have cheese embedded, resulting in extra stretchy potatoes that complemented the ever so crunchy exterior of the ribs. Khinkalai - the reason we came to Bevri, they didn't disappoint. Loved the familiar dumpling flavor with the distinctly Georgian style. Ambiance was perfect. Traditional decorations & Role model of Service Both in terms of the attentiveness of the staff and also, critically, the "European hospitality" policy of the establishment that "tipping" is included in the stated menu price. To the restaurants of the United States, please follow Bevri's lead.

- The menu prices include the tip: It's European-style pricing, which is great. - 4/5: The Khachapuri Adjaruli cheese boat is good, but a little over-hyped. They use a blend of cheeses, and it's nicely textured (it's not just a blob). It has a great herb flavor. The bread is good, and the yolk is a nice touch. It can easily serve 2 people, or 4 as an appetizer. - 5/5: The Kazbegi Lager beer from Georgia (in a bottle) is great; deep malty flavor.

Cultural experience without having to travel across the globe. We wanted to try out something out of curiosity and this cozy beautifully decorated place was a perfect candidate. Warm welcomed by the host, the food and drink menus are very foreign/adventurous to us. My favorite was a beet/spinach spread platter (sorry that I don't recall the Gerogian name!) which was the very first one in the menu. It was grounded with walnuts and herbs and tasted fresh and healthy. It came with two stuffed eggplant rolls I would pair a slice of it with the spread on buttery grilled toast. Chicken stew and dumplings both taste somewhere in between European (herbs, olive oil) and Asian, not perfectly suited for our taste buds but was OK to try out something different/ new. We couldn't try out the baked cheese bread which was their specialty but next time we will do!

Vibe:5/5 Service:5/5 Drinks:4.5/5 Food: 4/5 Value: 5/5 This restaurant is defying all the rules--and I'm here for it. You have a restaurant situated in a prime location, serving delicious, extremely reasonably priced food and wine, with a friendly, efficient staff who don't expect tips. How?!? The owners need to write a book and sell it to the rest of America. I really enjoyed their red and white "sweet" wines by the glass. They weren't actually dessert-level, but more semi-sweet, which worked well with the dishes. If you're into Rieslings and red sangrias, they will hit the spot. The cheese boat (3.5/5), while tasty at first, became very one-note and heavy after. I think it would have suited my personal taste if it had a little more salt. But who am I to judge this cuisine; take my feedback with a grain of salt ;) Now the Pork Mtsvadi were out of this world. Beautifully marinated porky goodness with a ton of flavor. So good... The accompanying potatoes were nicely roasted, and that red sauce--fire-roasted peppers and tomatoes?!?--was slurp worthy. We also had a pear dessert that wasn't overly sweet and hit the spot without any sugar crash afterwards. When the bill arrived, and I paid by card, I got a receipt without the option to tip--just a spot for your signature. I felt guilty about leaving without a tip, so we left some money on the table anyway. Because, even in Europe, you still tip for great hospitality (check out the menu for reference).

The food was amazing. I've only ever ordered Kachapuri to go and I just went this past weekend to sit down and eat in the restaurant. I had soup dumplings with beef and pork and they were amazing. Be prepared to eat them hot and make sure to drink all the soup. If the liquid gets out you'll regret it because it is so delicious. I couldn't resist a kachapuri. I also got a Georgian pear soda and vodka cocktail. It was pretty delicious. I would like to come back and try the stews and the other dishes.

Second time going to this restaurant. Overall solid food with small entree portions for the price (which might be justified by the no tipping policy at this restaurant). I'd definitely recommend everyone getting an entree (which is actually doable to finish in one sitting, from the perspective of someone who usually has leftovers) and then ordering a starter or two for the table. The first time I went I got the khachapuri but opted to try some other starters since I wasn't interested in all the carbs. My favorite here (and at other Georgian restaurants I've eaten at) are the dumplings! Highly recommend since they're pretty large and have a nice filling.

Marat Z.

We didn't manage to take photos of all the dishes because everything was so delicious. The khachapuri, baked in the oven with a perfectly crispy crust, was so tempting that it even won over our child. The khinkali were amazing as well -- filled with flavorful broth and delicious meat. If you're not familiar with the cuisine, there is a screen at the entrance displaying all the dishes, and it's hard to choose because everything looks so good. A big thank you to the manager, Olga, for the warm welcome and the lovely gift. Highly recommend!

My coworkers and I came here for lunch during the week. We were seated in the patio area upon arrival. It was actually pretty nice outside to be in the patio area. Food: I ordered the Khachapuri Adjaruli which is boat shaped bread with lots of cheese and butter and an egg on top. This was delicious and decadent. I could only finish half and saved the rest. Service: Service was friendly and prompt for a work lunch. Our food came out promptly after ordering. Our server left us for our lunch after the food came. TL;DR - come for the bread boat full of cheese and butter

Should I book table in advance for celebration of my birthday? If so, what is the best way to book the table?

Hi Yulia, yes you totally should. We used OpenTable for convenience, but as the owner has responded, you may do the reservation on their website as well. And while there, DO NOT miss on the Khachapuri!

Does the Honey Cake dessert contain any alcohol?

No, it doesn't.

Do you cater to small parties?

We only can serve at our restaurant now. We may learn to cater soon.

How can I reserve a table? No one usually picks up when i call. Thank you.

you can make reservation on their website or through open table

For a menu that's a little all over the place (I mean that in the best way possible; Loco Moco *and* Chilaquiles on one menu is diabolical), every single dish we ordered was prepared just right. If you care about your waistline, do not get the Umami Fries with curried ketchup; that pile of deliciousness will have you addicted like a fiend with its tangy, savory flavoring. Deviled Eggs were standard, if not for the hint of kimchi. I didn't try the Chicken & Waffles or BLT my table ordered. I ate my fair share of Lemon Butter Prawns; a side comes with six pieces & trust me, you won't want to share. The Loco Moco was incredible -- earthy mushroom gravy over sticky sushi rice and a chuck & brisket patty. Topped with an egg (made over medium like I requested) & finished with a side of arugula salad (my favorite greens) & I was full for days (just kidding, hours.) We ordered a lightly-dressed Caesar Salad with avocado just to cleanse our palates from all the rich textures & flavors. I'll be back for dinner STAT, so please save me a seat.

While I never…read moremet the man, he has incredible taste, because Sweet Maple has the best breakfast food I've ever had in the bay area. Well worth the trip. The two of us were dubious about the Millionaire's Bacon, because it was hyped up to the point where it seemed unlikely that it could live up to the reputation. We were wrong. We ordered the Millionaire's Bacon sampler platter, which is four strips of long, thick pieces of bacon, baked with brown sugar and spices. There is the original, which is brown sugar, cayenne, red, and black pepper, which was sweet, salty, and the perfect amount of spicy. The other slices were orange, cinnamon, and rosemary. My partner enjoyed the orange best, whereas I loved the cinnamon, but we both thought the rosemary was underwhelming. The bacon itself was very thick and meaty with a minimal amount of fat, and was just clearly high quality pork. Truly worth the hype. We also got the bottomless mimosas, which not only had multiple choices of juice (we got raspberry lemonade) but were surprisingly heavy on the champagne. The waiter kept them coming without us needing to ask, to the point where I had to tell him I was done because I was a little too tipsy for breakfast. My partner got the chicken croffle, and was very impressed. I tried the fried chicken (though not the croffle) and it was very well spiced, very crunchy, and well cooked--juicy and tender. I got the big hip, which is deep fried "french toast". I wouldn't call it french toast myself, but it was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, and came with fresh fruit, butter, and syrup. There wasn't enough syrup for the entire dish, but I asked our waiter for more and he came back with it in less than a minute. On top of the food being as close to perfect as you can get, the service was great. Several different waiters checked in on us throughout the meal, making sure we were enjoying the food and that we didn't need anything else. The vibes of the restaurant are really enjoyable too. The décor is lovely, the sound levels are very reasonable, and everything was spotless during our visit. Overall, I can't recommend Sweet Maple enough, and I'm kind of glad it's not closer to my house because I would go bankrupt with the amount of Millionaire's Bacon I'd buy on a weekly basis.

I ordered the Stir Fry Basil Chicken Bento and was immediately impressed by how much you get. The portion is generous, especially for the price! It was loaded with protein and served with two different vegetable sides and a hard boiled egg. It feels like a complete, well-rounded meal rather than the sad, sparse bentos you sometimes end up with. The basil chicken itself was the star cause it was juicy, aromatic, and had just the right kick on mild. If you have any heat tolerance at all, I'd say go mild without hesitation. It's flavorful without being overwhelming. Ordering is super easy through a kiosk, my food was ready in about 8 minutes, and the staff were genuinely friendly. The whole experience was smooth from start to finish. I'll definitely be back to work through more of the menu. There will be plenty of foot traffic going in and out of the restaurant. My dining companion and I settled in at the counter since the weather was a bit brisk today. Joanie's has been around long enough to wear its old-school vibe with confidence. The service is just fine. Nothing to complain about and nothing to tell write home about. It's a small enough place you are able to flag someone down if you needed something. We both ordered the "Joanie's Breakfast Medley" which includes French toast or two pancakes, two eggs any style, home fries, and your choice of protein (bacon, sausage, corned beef hash, chicken-apple sausage, or ham) for $25.95. We added two coffees, because we are functioning adults who require caffeine to make decisions. The food was fine, it was what a Sunday breakfast should be. I had a bit of a sticker shock when I asked for the bill and saw that it was OVER $75 for two people at breakfast, with tax and tip. I sat there doing the math in my head the way you do when you're hoping the numbers will somehow rearrange themselves into something more palatable. They did not. Now, to be fair, I am fully aware that the cost of ingredients and labor has gone up across the board. I was just operating on an optimistic budget of maybe $60 which I now realize is one of those "back in my day" comments to bore the Gen Zs to tears. If you want a recommendation for something sweet, go straight for the Cherries, Berries and Mascarpone French Toast. The eggs benedict is a reliable choice too, if you're feeling classic. The restaurant is easy to get to as it is located at the corner of California and Ash Street, and there's a large parking structure right next door. Would I go back? Probably, yes. But I will be prepared so that the wallet shock doesn't catch me off guard again.

I would've liked them cooked just a bit more but the waitress did state that they are lightly cooked. Overall excellent dish COCONUT FRITTERS The salmon was fresh and the fritter was perfectly cooked. If you like coconut, this a great dish. HAND CUT GOLDEN SESAME NOODLES This was me and my wifes favorite dish, no notes. SWORDFISH, "KATSU-STYLE" I have never really liked swordfish but being the most popular dish, we had to order. It was perfectly cooked, the fish was moist and juicy and the karashi butter had a really nice combo of sweetness, tartness and fattiness. 5/5 - cant wait to come back and try some other menu items

When I first made the reservation on Open table it allowed me to ask questions.. For each question, I received a personal response immediately from Mickey. He made me feel like I was asking my friend. When I arrived, I saw this tall, striking host walking to hep me. I asked his name, it was Mickey. We exchanged warm greetings, then he showed us to the Chefs Counter. We started chatting like new friends I asked about the chef. He informed me that Chef Scott Nishiyama, has a distinguished fine-dining pedigree, having worked at renowned restaurants including Daniel in New York and The French Laundry in Yountville. Also he previously earned a Michelin star as the executive chef of Chez TJ in Mountain View. I told Mickey I'd love to meet him since I was friends with Daniel. "Of course" he said, and a minute later I'm shaking hands with Scott. I was impressed with his humble, sweet demeanor. And then the food, Stephen, our friendly informative waiter gave us suggestions from the menu - I had no idea snap peas could taste that great. Shrimp was better than Spain. My husband loved the scallop tar tar- not my usual taste but enjoyed watching him love it. We saw a pork chop dish being prepared which looked great so added that to our dinner. Again fabulous. It was wonderful watching how the cooks cared about each dish, plus enjoyed seeing a lovely camaraderie and sincerity from everyone. This is a Restaurant that we will make our home away from home whenever we eat out. That's what I look for in a restaurant with great food. Thank you to everyone at Ethel's Fancy. I will be seeing you soon.. Fondly, Stephanie Herman

Our absolute favorite? The vegan tacos and yes, we're not vegan. We always pair them with a side of refried beans and chiles toreados, and it hits every time. What makes this place stand out is how incredibly flavorful and satisfying their meat-free options are. Vegan dishes can be hit or miss, but this is a full on hit. The menu overall is solid across the board. You can pretty much close your eyes, point, and end up happy. Brunch is also top tier. The pancakes are excellent, and the traditional Mexican dishes like chilaquiles and huevos rancheros are comforting, flavorful, and consistently well done. Must try cocktail: the Chapulín. When it first comes out, you might think they brought you a green juice, but trust us, this one will surprise you in the best way. It's made with jalapeño-infused tequila and packs a flavorful punch. Fair warning: if you're one of those people who thinks cilantro tastes like soap, this one may not be for you since it's part of the mix. Service is consistently great. The staff is attentive, friendly, and makes the whole experience feel easy. And honestly, there's not a bad seat in the house whether you're outside, inside, or at the bar.

Cooking out the liquid from squash, tomatoes or mushrooms is cooking 101, in my book. Their mole is an American version and not at all a traditional one. Beware. Service and ambience are fine.
