Jager schnitzel with broccolini in mushroom sauce
    Cynthia L.

Finally got to try this place and it did not disappoint. Everything from food to service to ambiance was top notch. Got seated quickly and our servers were super attentive. Helped recommend us food, gave bread, refilled bread and just mainly kept track of us. Food wise, we ordered their sausage trio with potato salad for the appetizer. For my entree, I had the jager schnitzel and my husband had the roulade. We then split the spatzle that came with my entree. For the sausages, they were all cooked well and tasted really good. The spicy sausage is spicy but just under the heat that a hot link would have. The other two sausages were flavorful too. Sauerkraut generally isn't my thing, but my husband loves that. I tried a bit of it and I will say it's the best sauerkraut I've had. Or at least one I can eat. The potato salad is basic but still good. Now the main entree was on a whole different level. The jager schnitzel was DELICIOUS. Mushroom sauce is my favorite. It's almost the same base of what I love in mushroom soup. The schnitzel was cooked well. I like the non fried version honestly. Spatzle was really good. A bit heavy from the butter I think but it's still a solid dish. I tasted the roulade and while it was good, it wasn't my thing. I didn't get to order dessert since we were full and I want to order the goulash next time. So guess I just have to come back! Otherwise as far as ambiance was concerned, I could have a conversation and not yell. Bless.

    Beer and Riesling

Service: Amazing! Top notch service from Rene, the GM. I wasn't sure about their garlic soup and he not only brought out some sampler of the garlic soup but also a sampler of the sweet potato soup which he loves and recommended. He was right! The sweet potato soup was really delicious, sweet with creamy texture but was surprisingly light and airy on the palate. Doesn't give any feeling of richness that comes with soup of that creaminess texture. Definitely caught me off guard. Also nice ambiance with smooth jazz music in the background. Tavern fries - love it. Huge cut, yet crispy. Love the truffle with aioli dipping sauce. Not much hint of truffle in the sauce though (disclaimer: I love strong truffle taste). The drinks: We ordered Stieglitz Lager beer and the Groebe Riesling. Love Australian beer (so clean, crisp and refreshing) and the German Riesling brought back memories of my first true German Riesling experience over 30years ago! For my next visit, I would like to try their Radlers (lemonade+beer) - several flavor options to choose eg Stiegl Raspberry Radler. Apparently it's a really good popular drink too. As for entree we had the beef goulash and tagliatelle pasta. They were great, right tenderness, authentic sauce, nicely braised and delicious. We also ordered their homemade pretzel which comes with beer cheese sauce and bacon bits, chives. The pretzels were nice, fresh and fluffy. Sauce was great too. They also highly recommended their dessert, Salzburger Nockerl a fluffy vanilla soufflé with blueberry compote and vanilla bean ice cream. Will have to try next time as it takes 15mins to bake. Next time put in the order as soon as seated. :).

I took a trip in September to Germany and Budapest and came home craving the flavors and my experience at dinner did not disappoint. My party of 4 enjoyed 4 delicious dishes which included: spaetzle with meatballs , Hungarian goulash, garlic soup, homemade pretzel and the veal classic Wiener schnitzel. EVERYTHING was delicious. The goulash was tender and cooked perfectly. Sometimes these dishes can be overcooked but they served it just perfectly. We all tasted each others mains as we wanted to share the amazing flavors. We also enjoyed some beautiful German wines which were a great complement to our meal. I wish I lived closer so I could enjoy this more often but now I know where I can visit the next time I get a craving as the dishes really shine here. The service was also on point.

    Chicken paprikash

Lovely Austrian place in Downtown Pleasanton I ordered the chicken paprikash which was very tasty. The spatzel in general was good. The server was very professional and made us feel taken care of without being overbearing. The inside and outside both looked nice but we stayed inside because it was a bit chilly.

I made reservations thinking that I needed to but I got there a bit early and we got seated early with no issue. Plenty of parking around the back for being in downtown Pleasanton. It's a lovely place that can be great as a dinner date, large groups, or friends. The staff was pleasant and attentive! Dinner among friends didn't go as planned. The plan was to enjoy a few happy hour items, drinks, an entree, and maybe dessert. What happened instead was we ended up ordering every HH item on the menu and all the dessert courses. Lol The standout for appetizers was the spring roll. Filling was French brie, veggies, and an apricot chili sauce. The sliders were the next best thing with sausage, sauerkraut, caramelized onions between Hawaiian roll was delicious. The side of fries were better than the tavern fries. The pretzel was just okay, the tavern fries were maybe too crispy for my liking. I probably wouldn't order the other items again. All the desserts were delicious. You can't go wrong with a chocolate lava cake, or a souffle, and an apple strudel. The only photo missing is of the apple strudel. I believe it came with ice cream too. Rating this an honest 3 stars because we ended up only ordering from the HH menu and desserts. I can say that the entrees sounded amazing but we never got to that point. My Radler was amazing though. I'd come back for that next time and an entree.

Hungarian Beef Goulash with herbed spatzle

We decided to try this fairly new restaurant to downtown Pleasanton for our son's birthday because it served Schnitzel, a dish we had tried on our only trip to Frankfurt, Germany almost 10 years ago and while this restaurant is Austrian, the menu looked similar to the one we had first seen in Frankfurt. We were seated in the patio outdoors on a sunny California afternoon and ordered a beet salad and bratwurst for appetizers and for the main course we got the Chicken Paprikash and Hungarian Beef Goulash served with spatzle (pasta), Classic wiener schnitzel served with a potato salad (which was missing) and smoked Bratwurst served with a pretzel bun and tavern fries. The wine and beer lists were extensive and the desserts...apple strudel with whipped cream and vanilla bean icecream and schoko kuchen (chocolate cake) with vanilla bean icecream completed the meal. Everything was absolutely delicious and far exceeded our expectations.

I have been to downtown Pleasanton many times but never to Naschmarkt. It was great to finally try it! Service here was super friendly and the restaurant has a nice ambiance. We went on a random weekday for lunch and it was hopping inside but we sat outside on the patio because the weather was nice. The patio is a great option if you would like to enjoy the scenery or chitchat with passersby. The menu has some good variety so we ordered a bunch of different dishes to try. Top two for me were the sausage trio and weiner schnitzel. The sausage was very good, there was one that was a bit spicy and tasted like an herby hot link, the brat was solid and the other sausage (maybe paprika?) was also very flavorful. As for the schnitzel, it was seasoned nicely and not too greasy. Overall, we had a good experience, but one downside was the main dishes took a long time to come, like maybe 30 minutes or more. I would recommend going here if you have time for a leisurely meal, but since we had come from the office and were on a bit of a time crunch, we only had time to eat a few bites before we needed to head back.

Such a great place. Stumbled upon this randomly. The drinks are good ( maybe can use a little bit more aesthetic). We ordered something that had dairy and they without a fuss replaced it. Very thoughtful. Service was fast. The place was busy on a Monday evening. May visit again to try their food more next time.

CLASSIC WIENER SCHNITZEL (pork) with potato salad
    Carson M.

Dined on a Friday afternoon with a large party (12 people). Service was great, although we were the only party sitting inside. There were some customers outside but maybe 2-3 other groups only. Price is a bit on the pricier side. We started off with appetizers, which were all great. Very homey tasting and seasoned well. Spatzle - rich and creamy. Seems simple but tasty. tavern fries - Huge wedges, slightly crispy, and the aioli tasted like Chik fil A sauce. Salted well. Homemade pretzel - good, but eat it quickly before it cools down. Came with a thick cheese sauce. Sausage trio - juicy and had slight char. Meatball Mac and cheese - I didn't note down the name of this dish, but it had a slightly thinner cheese sauce. The caramelized onions also gave it slightly sweet flavor. There were small pieces of meatball in it, which was tasty. For the entree, I opted for the pork Wiener schnitzel. You can choose pork cutlet or the veal cutlet (more expensive). The waiter did say that the veal is more popular, but I tried the pork. It had a light breading and was fairly large and cooked well. I wasn't the biggest fan of the fruit sauce it came with, and wish the lemon slices were chunks so you could squeeze it easily. The side potato salad it comes with is refreshing.

    Schnitzel

First, the service was the worst experience we have had a a pricey restaurant. Water was not kept full, or even close. I ran out of water twice, had to ask for a refill, and in the end had to take from my partner. We were the 2nd table to be seated at 11:50am and it took a full 15 minutes to even order. The food was bland and dry. The schnitzel was over cooked and bland. The beef goulash was bland, except for the meat pieces, and even the spätzle was just ok. The pretzel was the best part of the meal and was just an appetizer. Only one pretzel, though, but if I were to go back it would only be for that. The waiter seemed to be pushing drinks, but it was lunch and I needed to drive a long way. Maybe service is better if you get their drinks? The chocolate cake was dry and bland...couldn't really taste chocolate or the jam. Presentation was nice and made us really hopeful, but the flavors are nothing like Austria as I know it. The atmosphere was pleasant but seems more bar than restaurant. We won't be going back. For the price you expect more, especially when the bill started with 20%, 22 and 25% tip expected!

Walked in for lunch on a Saturday afternoon with our dogs. It's a plus that this place is dog friendly. Food however was just ok. Nothing really stood out. There was a slight language barrier between us and the server, however it was fine. The interior looked really beautiful inside, and outdoor seating was clean and spacious too.

Wow, this place was much better than I expected and also super cute! Ambiance: Indoor and outdoor seating. Cute date night spot. Food: 1. Cheese pretzel ($16) the pretzel was soft and easy to eat with the cheese beer dip. It was a nice appetizer which you normally don't get other restaurants. 2. Smoked chicken spatzle ($20) sooo good. It was creamy and flavorful. I was impressed by this dish and would highly recommend. 3. Pork classic Wiener schnitzel ($36) this was like a pork cutlet which was also good. It's paired with potato salad. 4. Salzburger nocker ($16) draft beer 5. Blueberry soufflé - preorder this because it takes about 20 minutes. This was soft and delicious with the ice cream. The food surprisingly came out pretty fast and everything all at once. Service: Very friendly and attentive! We enjoyed chatting with the servers. Parking: Street parking Overall, everything was great here and I'd recommend to anyone looking for a cute lunch or dinner spot in Pleasanton.

We can here for dinner on New Years Eve. They had a prefixed menu with a ton of options to choose from. We all ordered something different so we can share. Every single thing on the menu was incredible. The owner was fantastic and the service was 10/10. The scallops, Wiener schnitzel and bratwurst were outstanding. Everything was made from scratch and with love. I can't wait to go back again! Worth every penny!

    Garlic soup was great.

Since it was our first time, I played it safe and had ceased salad with added grilled chicken. Portion size was enough for two people. Overall, I would give the food a good rating. Server (Diego) was also good! On the flipside, the bathrooms were TERRIBLE (not clean) and if you use any type of walking device beware, wheelchairs won't fit through the door and the two small stalls were a joke. They need to reevaluate the meaning of a handicap bathroom(not to mention the door doesn't have a button to open or close). We ended up celebrating my birthday a little late here, and it was absolutely worth it. The restaurant itself is beautiful--my friend took so many great photos. It has very romantic vibes, but I was also surprised by how many larger groups were dining there, like work teams out for dinner. There are so many photo-worthy spots throughout the space. Now, let's talk about the food. I started with a glass of Pinot Noir. The truffle fries had great flavor, though they could've been cooked a bit longer. That said, the Caesar salad was incredible. It's so hard to find a restaurant with a truly good Caesar dressing, and this one nailed it. I'm literally craving it as I write this. We split it as an appetizer, and it's a generous portion--if you order it on your own, definitely add chicken or salmon. For our mains, my friend ordered the blackened salmon and I had the lamb chops. The truffle purée and potatoes that came with the lamb were a bit too salty for my taste, but the lamb itself was cooked absolutely perfectly. The blackened salmon was also a hit--no misses there. We were both very happy with our dishes. We finished with the molten cake, and I asked nicely if they could add raspberries and almonds, which they happily accommodated. Overall, this place still deserves five stars. There were a few minor things I would personally tweak, but we'd absolutely come back to try more dishes. That Caesar salad, though? I'm ordering it again--no question. Definitely check this place out!

The giant, glowing Christmas tree in the middle of the lounge and Christmas carols playing in the background made the whole place feel warm and festive. Food-wise, the chicharrones were very well! seasoned and are a must-try, especially paired with the guac. The smoked old fashioned lived up to its name and was extremely smoky, which will appeal to anyone who enjoys bold, heavy smoke flavors. The only downside was the service. Even though it was busy, the attention lagged, and we ended up waiting over 20 minutes for our drinks, which took away from the experience.
