I have been to SideTrack a few different times recently and each time experience was different, some great, some less so. Each of the times that I went, it has always been very loud, either with TVs playing loudly. One time there was a karaoke bingo event occurring inside, and it was specifically advertised on the website: "If you choose to not play, no problem we will have the patios open for non players." However the game host ended up coming out and trying to engage people to play and the speakers were so loud we couldn't hear each other. Service has also been spotty when we went, with our server hard to flag down and little refills for water. The food and drinks however has always been fantastic and a huge reason why I come back. The Side Track is a casual sports bar and diner in downtown Pleasanton. We came here for lunch and drinks while watching the Brazil vs. Norway FIFA World Cup game. We grabbed a nice big table on one of their outdoor patios with a decent-sized TV, which turned out to be a great place to catch the game. The beers were good, although quite a few were out of stock, which was a bit of a bummer. For appetizers, we ordered the edamame and coconut shrimp. Both were solid. For our mains, we tried the Grilled Ahi Tuna with rice and ginger sauce, the Caesar salad, and their signature burger. Overall, the food was good, but not great. The grilled ahi tuna was definitely the highlight of the meal, and my daughter really enjoyed it. The only thing that surprised us was the portion sizes, which felt a little on the smaller side. The service was friendly, and the overall vibe was relaxed and easygoing. That was exactly what we were looking for. We wanted somewhere we could watch the game without the super loud, rowdy sports bar atmosphere, and this place fit the bill perfectly. A very average American restaurant. I ordered fish and chips. My wife ordered "doozy scoozi". I know what you are thinking, what on the earth is "doozy scoozi"? It's basically buffalo chicken stuffed in pocket bread. The dishes look great (see pics)! Fish and chips are ok, I found some burnt and dried fries but overall good tartar sauce and a little dry coleslaw. But fish is pretty good. The doozy scoozi is horrible in one word. The cook/chef for some reason drenched chicken in buffalo sauce. To me, it's almost looked like curry chicken. I asked my American wife did you order curry chicken by mistake? Then I tasted from her plate. The buffalo sauce is overpowering so the stuffing becomes inedible! I gave three stars as I like everything else in the restaurant, hospitality, friendliness, the server gave water bowl for our dogs (very nice!). I don't expect much from "American cuisine" (to me it's burger and sandwiches pretty much), but come on drenching chicken in buffalo sauce is a strict no no! If the cook is reading this, please contact me and I will teach you how to make curry chicken! Pretty chill for a farmers market Saturday bunch. Got to pick our own table and we chose to sit right on the patio with a great view of the farmers market. Got the bottle of prosecco to make your own mimosas and they let us pick two types of juice, we did pineapple and grapefruit. Wish there was a lot more juice. Fun bar and restaurant located in downtown Pleasanton. You can come here for games or just a great hangout in general. I've only been here twice. The first time was to watch a World Cup game with some family. The second time was for their most recent annual Oktoberfest celebration (2025). Entry came with a food and drink ticket. I can't remember if I ate anything the first time, but I thought the menu or the food they were serving during the Oktoberfest celebration was great! It was some sausages, sauerkraut, potato salad and pretzels. They actually had some kegs of beer brands from Germany (which follow the German purity beer laws - Prost!) Everybody was friendly and helpful. Even after the main celebration, the folks at the bar were really great as well. And if I'm not mistaken, I believe the daughter of one of the people in our group actually worked here. There is live music, dancing, and just an all-around good time. I can see why my brother and his friends like this place. Definitely would come back for another Oktoberfest celebration or come here and watch games in general. read more

We worked with Todd for a catering order for a 30th birthday party we hosted at a bar down the street (Middle 8). Todd was great to work with, he worked within our budget and we know the food is good! Todd and his wife helped us with the set up and everything came together. We cut down a few trays but could have reduced our order by a few trays. Our coffee was lukewarm and not steaming hot, like my cousin wanted. They were kind and got a steaming hot cup of Joe for him. The restaurant got crowded quickly, there was a large party that arrived and it got noisy. My cousins food came out before mine and I had to wait for my order. We were seated outdoors and ordered drinks and appetizers - my first beer (a Kölsch) was flat, but my second (a Brown Ale) was very good. Our server recommended the Birria tacos, which were also very good. Worth the price of admission, especially when paired with the brown ale. Our entrée sandwiches were mediocre. Both the Cubano and the TriTip were dry and needed a lot of barbecue sauce to make them edible (we had to ask for the barbecue sauce). The onion rings and fries they were served with, however, were excellent. As you can tell, I had a polarizing experience at Sidetrack. A great find in Pleasanton downtown. They have great beer selection and unique "sold out" menu that has great options. Have both indoor and outside seating. Outside seating has heaters. Things started off slow - we weren't acknowledged until about 15 min after being seated outside. Almost left to go somewhere else but then our waiter came by. We decided to split the Applewood Bacon Burger with spicy tots and the Tacos with one pork, one chicken, and one fish plus added a side a fries with ranch. The fries and tacos came out first - the fries were crispy and lightly salted but the tacos unfortunately were not good. The fish was bland and you couldn't even taste it plus it was hard and crunchy; the chicken had a chipotle sauce with a slight kick that hubby liked but I didn't and the pork had a different kind of seasoning which tasted off with the pineapple salsa. The hamburger came out soon after and it was nice that they split it in half but this wasn't that good either. First off the patty was super thin almost like a smash burger and the mustard they put on was very overpowering - that's all you taste! It tasted like a mustard and bacon sandwich - had two bites and couldn't eat the rest... Service was still a little slow although friendly but I don't think I would come back. read more

Needed a venue to host our annual holiday business meeting for work and found SideTrack to be the perfect spot since we needed a private area for speeches and games. The owner Todd was very responsive with my email inquiries throughout the entire 2 months of communicating and coordinating. He put together an appetizers-only dinner proposal promptly and got us penned into the books for their big "Angela" patio. One week beforehand, Todd confirmed our headcount and attendance. On the day of our business meeting, Jesus was our sole server the entire evening. He was very friendly, attentive, and courteous. We had the Avocado Ahi Poke (with wonton chips), Skip's Scoozzi, Thai Sweet Chili Cauliflower, and Austin Eggrolls. Todd came out a handful of times to check on us to make sure we were being taken care of, which we were by Jesus. The heated patio felt really nice and toasty. Restroom is kept nice & tidy. They have a parking lot, but it's not too big; however, opposite of the entrance is a massive public parking lot so no need to worry about parking if you can't find street parking. Talk to Todd if you need to rent a patio. All in all, highly recommend SideTrack Bar + Grill! I always enjoy their sesame Ahi tuna Salad. I rarely have anything else as my main entree to tell you the truth! Others at my table, often have fish and chips and enjoy it very much! This time we both had salad. He had the Caesar chicken salad that has a little bit of a surprise in that they add sun-dried tomatoes! This gives it a unique pop of flavor. They do not have anchovies to add if this is something that you are looking for in a Caesar salad. We often have the spicy tater Todd's (play on words for tater tots, named after the owner). They aren't too spicy and we really enjoy them. This time we had the Scoozie bread (we used to get this at Skip Hinsley's Girasole restaurant years back and he and Todd went into business here at Sidetrack bar and Grill... bringing some of those special recipes with him). They had a dry rub on them that had a slight kick. My wife order the special brisket street tacos (brisket, cilantro and onions on a corn tortilla) 4 in the order with spicy salsa and sliced limes. My wife said they were very good. I order the Pecos Chicken Salad (pretty much a southwest salad), romaine lettuce, grilled chicken with BBQ Sauce, avocado slices, black beans, tomatoes, corn, tortilla strips, cheese with spicy dressing. This was a good sized salad, great taste. I would order it again. My brother in law had the Brisket Sandwich said it had good flavor but dry. My sister had a chicken sandwich and she loved it. After having lunch here over 5 years ago, I thought I give this place another shot. 1st their service have gotten a lot better. But I can't tell if it's because the restaurant was half empty at 7pm on a Saturday, where most restaurant are packed with wait times. Bartender came over took our drink and appetizers orders pretty fast. The Chesapeake Bay Style Crab Cakes were very mushy, and I'm pretty sure it is from frozen and not fresh crabs. It also doesn't taste like crab either. Just had a gathering at the sidetrack for about 33 people. It was a great experience! The planning was easy through Todd who made recommendations for food and drink service. The appetizer display worked well, allowing for mingling while having warm plates of food for all. I've done events while working and the Sidetrack had the most positive comments on food, setting and service I've ever heard. I arrived with guests and everything was in place. Went there with a big group, was invited by my son's girlfriend for her birthday celebration. They are dog friendly- we brought 3 fur babies and we were seated outside in the patio ( well covered patio). Service was great, food came out very quickly. We didn't wait too long. (Sorry I didn't take food pics :) My husband and I ordered the wagyu burgers for our main course, I had the sidetrack signature burger and my husband had the applewood bacon burger. Their signature burger was big, thick, juicy and tasty. I upgraded my French fries to sweet potato fries and it was so good and crunchy. My husband said the applewood bacon burger was very good, I tasted it and it had mushroom on top of the burger. It was indeed good. The ambiance is nice, casual and quiet. I've been in Pleasanton over 20 years and had never heard of Sidetrack. For my first time visit last Friday, we had the best service from Emily. She let me know that you opened six years ago. The food was absolutely amazing and I loved her recommendation of the salmon sandwich. It was very tasty and I enjoyed it so much that I will definitely be back to have that same dish again.
