Thursday - Oven-Fried Chicken, Seasoned Potatoes, Caesar, Garlic Bread
Raymond R.

As usual, the food was amazing, totally homemade quality from carefully developed recipes. This time it was the oven baked fried chicken. The chicken was so falling apart tender with a deep savory coating that makes chicken fun again. A buttered fried sourdough toast and baked potato wedges and salad, all way beyond franchise anything. Hometown service and casual atmosphere are all part of the charm. My wife is obsessed and I couldn't be happier!

I came here for a happy hour shots. I had a hard time finding it at first (bc of the gps) but there's plenty of parking. Even though I only came here to have a drink, the food smelled amazing. There were a lot of people here around 5pm. You can sit at the bar or at their large family style tables. Everyone was nice and I look forward to going back.

"What did I get the veggie burger for? You got a veggie burger, so I had to get the veggie burger..." George Costanza - Seinfeld da Scene: Back in the office now 1-2 days a week, I miss Oakland a lot but am trying to acclimate to my Pleasanton digs. In doing my hard target search for a good burger and fries, paired with a proper Guiness; I stumbled onto Sunshine. da Grub: Pretty deep menu, tacos, sammies, daily plates, etc. But my barometer for a pub/sports-style place is the burger & fries and Guiness on tap. I Know. That's too easy you say. Everyone does burger & fries and how hard is it to tap a pint? You're not wrong, but getting it right means attention to detail. Char-grilled Burger & Fries were lightly seasoned with temp as asked ( I go Med 1st time to see how they do it, will go med-rare next one). Bun was sturdy enough to keep things contained, but not too thick. Fries were hot, fresh and crisp. A properly tapped Guiness is a thing of beauty to behold while the carbonation slowly settles before enjoying. Low enough alcohol content, I can confidently head back for a meeting. They check all the boxes, if they take care of this staple, the rest of the menu should rock. da Service: No nonsense, quick & efficient. Been twice and got in/out in 35 min. Will have to stop in after work to try pork chops on Wednesdays or maybe a steak. Nice enough guys that let ya do your thing. No pics so far, feels weird at the bar, maybe if I grab a table with a friend next time.

My bf and I have been coming to Sunshine Saloon since we turned 21, so a decade now. Been at all hours of the day/night. Love the vibe and the food has always been pretty good. However, our last visit a few weeks ago went horribly. It was a weekend around 11am, not busy, nice day- so we sat outside. The waiter who served us was TERRIBLE- a short, brown haired man. We got our menus and it took him 20 minutes for him to come back and take our drink order (ice water and iced tea). Basically threw my drink on the table and it splashed on me. Didn't bring sweetener for the tea, when I asked for it he was just walking away and not listening to me. Had to ask twice for it. Took him 40 minutes for us to get our food order in... at this point we were questioning even staying. Every time I communicated with this waiter, he would walk away as I was talking. Super disrespectful!! And this is why you got $0 tip, for horrible service. Ruining the good culture of Sunshine is a shame and this dude needs to do BETTER. The waiter looks like this photo by the way, so everyone beware if you sit in his section.

St. Patrick's Day is a great day to visit as their bar food doesn't disappoint.

Very comfortable and friendly. Shuffleboard and pool tables make for a good time even if your not an alcoholic. Varied ages - you can be 21 or 40 and be totally comfortable. I've been going here now for nearly two decades. I guess I just gave away my age - and I shouldn't have as I still have some boyish good looks and get occasionally carded. At any rate, I consider myself an expert and fully qualified to write a review - been here on NYE and St Patrick's day for corned beef dinner and any odd night in-between. Once I even ended up here during a trivia night by accident. In the day time it gives off cozy restaurant vibes - on a Friday night there is a DJ and a dance floor - so there is something for everybody. The second room is all the game stuff and much nicer if you come with a group of friends. If your single and on the prowl stay on the other side. There are lots of ladies there on the market - nails done, hair done everything done done. Once I came on trivia night. And that is something I like to stay away from. My knowledge is odd and a lot of pop culture stuff I have no idea about - in fact I think its been 15 years since I really watched much TV. Anywho, I found myself here and met a guy who was blind - blind since day one on this earth. I was touched how the bartender took such good care of him. I suppose that is the main takeaway here - she really went out of her way. And I've noticed that always for all the patrons. I got to know him a little and tried to describe things to him unsuccessfully as there was nothing he could really have as a benchmark for. I told him on the sly that his little bartender friend was cute - but again - what that meant for him is probably very different from what that means to most other guys out there. I thought, maybe the bartender liked being liked for other reasons than the obvious. Another bartender I had known there for years I think moved to Hawaii?? Sad day - but I suppose the point on that fact is if you become a regular you will get to know the staff - they don't turnover as much as elsewhere which I like.

Coffee goodness

They kicked me out upon arrival once I sat down I was told I was too drunk lol I haven't drank all day.. I believe it was racism. Food ducks, drunk people everywhere but single out a sober mixed man due to his chains haha

Wow, how have I not reviewed Sunshine? They're continently located down the street from my office so we've been regulars here for years. They're our go-to lunch spot! They're a no frills restaurant and bar serving up great American food. I've tried a number of things on their menu over the years but here's my favorite: - The burgers are the best. Huge portions, chargrilled, and better than most restaurants in the area. If you're craving a solid burger you can't go wrong with any of their burger choices. My go-to is the California Burger which is served with cheese, bacon and avocado. The bacon and avocado portions are huge. - Their Jalapeño poppers are a good app Choice. appear to be fresh Jalapeños stuffed with cream cheese, seasoning and wrapped in a big piece of bacon. - You can't go wrong with any of their fried sides. They do them right. - If you're in the mood for breakfast, theirs is solid. Huge portions. Cooked right and reasonably priced. I'm a fan of the linguica and eggs and usually get them with a side of hashbrowns. If you're a beer drinker they have a large variety on tap and rotate out some seasonal options too. Overall, the staff here is friendly and the food is solid. I'd recommend giving them a shot for a casual dining experience. Note: since they're technically a bar you must be 21+

This place rocks! Super friendly atmosphere! When I saw all of the food specials during the week, I was like oh my gosh, I need to come here every day! Had a couple drinks and the pan seared shrimp and boy that dish is awesome. Can't wait to go back!

When I arrived, I was told I was in the wrong place and directed to walk around the corner. There was no clear signage indicating where DoorDash pickups were supposed to go. The only sign was a small A-frame that was blocked by parked cars, making it nearly impossible to see. Following the directions I was given, I ended up in the back of Mavericks and even wandered into the kitchen, where the cooks looked at me like I was the idiot. I went back to the front, and the waitress walked me to the correct location. As I followed her, I overheard the owner behind the bar say, "There's a goddamn sign," apparently talking about me. He didn't realize I was standing right behind her. When I appeared, his attitude instantly changed, and he apologized by saying, "Sorry, I've been here since 11." 6-7 hours of work, oh no! I'm sorry, but working since 11 isn't an excuse for talking about customers like that. If your pickup process is so confusing that people end up in the kitchen, that's on your business, not your customers. I won't be back. Better signage, a clearer pickup process, and a little respect for customers would go a long way. Do better, Tommy Boy.

I just wish they would commit more to the food instead of being a bar. The service is very friendly and understanding, but usually there's only one waiter/ waitress working. I get that it was busy, so I wasn't thrilled but understanding when drinks took 30 minutes. We also ordered chips and guacamole. However, the timeline of how the rest of the visit went down was just unacceptable: * The Drink Delay: I completely finished two beers before my friends even received the club sodas they ordered. * The Forgotten Food: After 20 minutes of waiting, I asked our server to check on the guac. He said he would. Another 20 minutes passed, and a group of girls who sat down after us ordered and received all of their food. It was glaringly obvious our server forgot to ring our order in. * The "Management": When I got up to ask for a manager, she was at the bar pretending to be busy, and the server flat-out refused to go get her. When I told the server to just ask the kitchen to rush the guac since it was missed, he looked completely lost. Maybe he was just a host? When the front line staff is completely lost and the leadership is actively hiding behind the taps, it's pretty clear the ship is sinking from the top down. Thanks for the TVs, but maybe spend a little less time avoiding your job and a little more time teaching your staff how a kitchen ticket works.

We all really enjoyed them: Brat summer, Frose (they only had one slushie ready - and it was boozy!), Peach Don't Kill My Vibe, and She's Gone Green. I like that they only had low ABV cocktails and mocktails, although your choices are limited to 1 in each category if you can't have grapefruit for medical reasons.
