A great time! I came here with a group of friends on a Friday night. I had a much different experience than those described in the other reviews. This bar was nothing near quiet and chill when we swung by. It was more of a frat basement vibe (which I actually found quiet endearing). This place is super tiny. When I came, all the chairs/furniture were pushed to the side to make room for a dance floor. The DJ played frat classics like 'Mo Bamba' and somehow created an energy where everyone was being perfectly carefree and dancing all over the place. Everyone was cramped up in the tiny dancefloor but still had enough room to move around and get to the bar. There was a pool table that was covered off to the side and some games lined up on the wall (to likely be used on a more casual and lowkey night). They had a bunch of security. They had guards at the entrance, by the DJ, and at the back door (that I think led to an outdoor patio). I'm not sure if this makes me feel reassured or concerned that they feel the need to have so much security. To me, the drinks were average. I ordered a Vodka Cranberry and felt that it was mostly just cranberry juice. The bartenders were friendly and quick. The prices weren't too bad either. I would definitely come back! read more

Checking the vibe for me is, listening to what music is being played, if any , and the loudness coming from the joint. It wasn't quiet . Sweet You can sit out front or there's a small outdoor space on the side of the bar. We are in there Let's go Two Bartenders are working. A few patrons are at the bar , drinking their drinks. Nobody is ordering. Let me slide up to the bar. I'm at the bar looking directly at both bartenders. They look at me. They Say nothing. I say noooo not one of these places. Damn Me: Hey darling , how are you ? Hope all is well in life. Hey listen. I would like to order a double Patron and a double Bulliet Rye. Him: We don't have that ( I felt a tude but he's a man so we would never want to think a man has an attitude ) right Ok no problemo. What do you have that's a rye? I then start to feel as if he knew I'm nit with the shit today. But I'm so here for it . In my mind, ( so what are we doing)? He then softens his face and tension in his throat. He then recalls that they gave a Basil Hayden rye. Awesome. I would love that My guy friend wasn't feeling the bartenders at all and I understood why. They were choosing to ignore us on purpose But for me , I'm a woman. And I don't tolerate a man's bs. No matter what race. He was taking it personal and feeling we were treated like that because we were black I could care less about it We chilled on the side "patio " area and sipped our cocktails. Bartender was super nice and hooked it up with the drinks! He also gave us our first pool game for free, and the rest of the games we played were a dollar each. Two beers and three cocktails were $33, which is pretty unbeatable for the area. The jukebox lets you play whatever song you look up and it was surprisingly lively for a Saturday at 4pm! Wow. This place is a dive. Apparently drinks are pretty cheap though. It's a small hole in the wall, and they have a patio for smokers (although, I really didn't like that there was no door between the inside and outside patio, so all the smoke came in). It was a fun place, and I would probably go back with my friends if everything else in town was closed. The place was small, but everyone who bumped into me apologized. The people were friendly. I go almost every Tuesday night to be meet up with old friends. I get so excited to go through the doors and see Mariana. She has to be one of the most entertaining if not the best bartender in Livermore. She goes out of her way to make her customers feel special and at home. I've read negative reviews like she is desperate for tips, that is not the case and I don't know her personally, only professionally, and she has never approached me or commented on my tip amount as she truly enjoys her job and her customers can feel that as well. A 5 star neighborhood bar. A notch above a dive I guess. Everytime we come here, there's always sports on the TV, some good tunes on the jukebox and some amazing drink specials. My wife and I drank all we could and barely cracked $30 including a generous tip. It's the kind of place where strangers play pool with each other. Honestly, I'm not sure quite what to make of this place. On one hand, it's a great little dive bar with cheap, strong drinks. On the other hand, it is a little small. Here's how I came to the 2 star conclusion. It started out as a 5 star bar. A 3 dollar whiskey and coke that was stronger than I've had at every bar I'm not a regular at. It drops to 4 stars because of the size and the amount of people there (it takes forever to get from the outdoor area inside). And lastly, I had to drop off 2 stars for them losing my debit card (I gave it to keep a tab open, and 2 hours later it was charged, signed for, and given to someone else). TL;DR: Everything a Dive Bar Should be. Small but cozy joint. We came in here after being driven out of the Beer Baron by oppressively loud music way too early in the evening. Randomly selected via Yelp, but please with our choice. Myself and two others found seats at the bar, and were greeted by bartender Sto/Justin, who we found was the owner as well. He was very pleasant and entertaining, and enjoyed chatting with him. The other patrons in the bar were equally friendly and chatty and made the whole place seem so much more welcoming. As the afternoon carried into the evening, the place began to fill up, which is always a good sign. Still received prompt service at the bar however, whenever we went up for a drink. Our first round was only 6 bucks for 2 beers, and our final tab ended up being 25 dollars, which was about what we had paid at the Beer Baron for 2 drinks. Nice little outside patio if you want some fresh air, and a decent pool table inside for distractions. Juke Box had a good list of tunes, and was kept playing steadily while we were there. Best of all, Clean Bathrooms! Its ridiculous that so many bars have such disgusting bathrooms. I don't know whether this is a function of the patrons or the establishment, but in either case, this place had no issues with that, which speaks well to both. Next time I'm in downtown Livermore, i'll be back by here. read more

There have been some nice improvements with Good Time Tavern. They recently re-upholstered their seating, got a new pool table, two new arcade games (Mortal Kombat and Area 51), there's more music in the jukebox, and drinks are still cheap as ever. Also, they have always had a VERY strict no-fighting policy so it's also a pretty safe bar. Some reviewers have been concerned about any cliques that may be here and if you come here alone, you'll drink alone. Not true. When I first started coming here a couple years ago, I came alone and didn't know a soul. It was kind of like being the new kid at school. Don't let it deter you, though. This is a very friendly bar if you give it a chance. This is where I met my boyfriend. Play a game of pool with someone once in a while, or if you see that it's someone's birthday, offer to buy them a drink!
