Breakfast burrito!
Mabel H.

Stable Cafe is not closed as indicated by Google! They are happy and healthy and open normal hours :) Gate 12 of the fairgrounds is the best entrance to get to the cafe the fastest. An attendant waved us down to the end of the road and once we made a right, we reached the storefront in a sort of U-turn-to-park situation. Stable Cafe has homey diner vibes, and I loved it as soon as I walked in! Breakfast burrito ($12.75): Ask for their homemade salsa! I drenched every bite in it. Spice level is about mild-medium. Burrito was perfectly fine without it of course; I watched the owner (I think?) make it fresh on the griddle so it was hot hot hot for a long time lol. The chorizo and bell peppers in it were delish! My husband got their hot dog ($7.75) which he wolfed down. They cut the sausage in half and lightly fried it, dressed it up in tomato's and onions. Fancy hot dog! I also got their house coffee with free refills. Their staff was so friendly and check in on us often. The way they spoke to the other patrons sounded like they consistently have regulars which I love! I will absolutely be back to try the rest of their menu; the burgers, sandwiches, and tacos all sound amazing :)

Stable Café is located within the fairgrounds. An attended will wave you down the path and you will find the café and parking at the end of it on the right. You'll enjoy the beautiful horse-racing artwork on the walls. The staff is friendly and he service excellent. We enjoyed our late breakfast and the order was prepared quickly and correctly. All good!

Chilaquiles

Such an improvement over the old Stable Cafe. I got the chilaquiles, which were fantastic. The eggs were cooked perfectly.

Vibrant paintings of race day.

Maria greets us with a warm hello to welcome us back. This place is a rare jewel full of good food and fabulous people at the grill. Coffee is hot there is plenty of seating for small and large groups. Maria opens at 5am and closes at 1pm she was so gracious as we were still eating at 130pm. There is love in her food and service we had a wonderful meal.

I've lived in the area most of my life and been to the fairgrounds so many times, even gone to horse races in the past and volunteered at the horse races years ago...but I never knew this place existed! My husband found this cafe and we stopped by for brunch on a Tuesday mid morning. It's a pretty casual place and we had to pass security to drive to it but we just told them where we were going and they told us where to park. There were a few tables of people and only two people working, one of whom looked to be on break, so the lady greeted us, got our drinks, took our order, and cooked and delivered our food! She was genuinely happy and super efficient at her job. Our day was made a little brighter by her positivity! The food was delicious and affordable, it was super fresh and hot. I would get it all again in a heartbeat!

This was our first time here, and we will definitely be back! Delicious food, generous portions, and excellent service.

I had linguica and eggs and it was great. Hashbrown done just right. Service is always good.

Sharing the tri-tip steak and eggs with my daughter. And an ube latte, ube matcha iced coffee and mango matcha. When it comes to the Bay Area's ube drinks, I'm always let down and I surprise myself when I do order it. Like tell me I'm lying when Starbucks' ube was a massive fail for me as a Filipino. Post- meal: steak was medium rare and juicy. My younger daughter was in heaven with her tri-tip and A1. Country potatoes were well seasoned. My daughter had club sandwich which she ate voraciously. She's not typically a sandwich person so this was a good sign! Our specialty drinks. Now, with the ube. The ube foam had the tiniest hint of ube flavor but it was more of a purple foam and didn't satisfy my craving. My younger daughter had the ube matcha and although she liked the ube foam, she kept asking me to ask for more because her drink only tasted like matcha. It was more of the same for my daughter who thought there wasn't enough mango in the mango matcha. If we don't finish our drinks, we usually take it home to go but we decided to leave ours. It's not enough to have a good presentation of specialty coffee drinks but the taste leaves one wanting. I want them to do good. There are better foams and syrups out there. Check out the syrup that Porto's uses for their ube matcha. There's great small batch syrups as well. Our waiter was lovely. You get the sense that this is possibly his family's business. If not, he definitely had pride in this restaurant and his work which leads me to believe that I would give this place a try again to eat their food and see if they've improved their coffee menu.

Even when there were open spaces, you could park there because a vehicle or 2 were well over the parking stall lines. There isnt any street parking in the immediate area, if im not mistaken so arrive with enough time to park somewhere. There is outdoor seating available which was packed full of patrons enjoying their day. The inside has a sleek dark supper room look and vibe to it. The people dining inside were even dressed differently from the outside guests. We had some drinks that were reasonably priced. Not the best mule I've had this year but I cant complain.. We ordered the tuna tacos and crispy calamari for starters. Both were a great start to the evening. The tuna was fresh and the calamari came with a sweet heat sauce that left its mark on us.. my wife regularly orders lamb chops, so in comparison they held up in taste to many places but the portion size wasn't the heartiest. The salmon dish was a homerun and so was the jambalaya. Im a fan of wellingtons so I had to take the opportunity and I wasn't let down. They use a filet so the size cant be too big, realistically. Mashed potatoes and the sauce complimented the steak for a complete all around dish. We finished with a pineapple upside down cake. Dense but not too heavy with a nice sauce and ice cream on top. Very good experience and I didn't catch our waiter's name(an older latin gentleman) but he was very attentive and treated us like all stars. We appreciate the service he gave us and hope that every waiter lives up to the bar he set for us.

It's basically buffalo chicken stuffed in pocket bread. The dishes look great (see pics)! Fish and chips are ok, I found some burnt and dried fries but overall good tartar sauce and a little dry coleslaw. But fish is pretty good. The doozy scoozi is horrible in one word. The cook/chef for some reason drenched chicken in buffalo sauce. To me, it's almost looked like curry chicken. I asked my American wife did you order curry chicken by mistake? Then I tasted from her plate. The buffalo sauce is overpowering so the stuffing becomes inedible! I gave three stars as I like everything else in the restaurant, hospitality, friendliness, the server gave water bowl for our dogs (very nice!). I don't expect much from "American cuisine" (to me it's burger and sandwiches pretty much), but come on drenching chicken in buffalo sauce is a strict no no! If the cook is reading this, please contact me and I will teach you how to make curry chicken! Put that in the bread pocket, it will be your special menu item and I guarantee it will be an instant hit, way better than your version of "doozy scoozi". Anyway, so that summarizes the 3 stars!

The patio's a nice space, half-covered with fans, so it'll be great through summer. Service was attentive and fast, almost too fast. We ordered 2-3 apps and two entrees, and everything landed at once within 10-15 minutes. No real gap between courses, which meant no chance to actually finish the apps before the entrees showed up. But everything came out lukewarm, which was the main issue. The Brussels sprouts, meatball, and empanadas were all fairly tasty, but the meatball and empanada were room temp, which dulled the flavor. Same story with the entrees, chicken Milanesa and Lomo Saltado, both lukewarm. The Milanesa was thin, easy to eat, and the sauce worked well with it. The fries tasted frozen, not hand-cut, and on the Lomo Saltado the sauce made them soggy fast. Sauce itself ran a bit too salty. Steak in the Lomo Saltado was tender though, and generous on portion. Good space, good service energy, but the food execution needs work. Not somewhere I'd go out of my way to return to unless they fix the food temperature and the fries.
