The BEST burgers in town! Always excellent burgers and fries, have not been disappointed in the many years I have been!!

It's been a very long time since I ate at Far Maddie's Grille. Had it not been for George F., I wouldn't have thought that they were still in business. On Labor Day 2025, I was having coffee with George at the Starbucks next door when he suggested grabbing a burger here. We walked in at around 5:45pm and it wasn't too busy. The interior looked pretty much the same as before. 80s pop music was playing in the background. George got the Double Burger combo with garlic feta fries while I opted for the Cali Burger Combo with curly fries. The staffer who helped us was friendly and helpful. I noticed he was wearing a 'Back to the Future' hat and we both agreed that a rumored potential reboot of the franchise would be a terrible idea. Our food came out pretty quickly. The Cali Burger was very good. The burger was very juicy, and I loved that sourdough bread was used. The curly fries were good as well. I'm glad that Fat Maddie's is still around. Good burger joints are getting harder to find. I will definitely return. 4 solid stars. read more

Love this place - you can eat inside or outside , easy parking , the staff are nice and the menu has something for everyone. I like the steak or chicken sandwich's with a side salad. All winners. I ordered a hamburger it was not very good... I ordered it medium because they asked me how I wanted it which I thought was a very nice thing to ask, but it came to the table. Well done very dry. If the meat was high-quality, there is no way of me being able to tell because all of the flavor was cooked out of it. The bun was very low quality and broke apart, which made it very hard to eat by hand. When I let them know about this, they just said sorry and that was it. They didn't try to make it right. In fact, they actually laughed about it, which was a little offputting. When you spend $23 plus a tip for a hamburger you expected to be cooked in the way you ordered it or it's the very least haven't made over again. What was in that the fries were good. read more

Passed by this place a few times and kept seeing people eating on the patio and the portions always looked huge and delicious. Finally went my self and got the Cobb salad. The portions are huge and the food is so fresh. Also, the service was great, they were so nice and I love the little patio they have! Will definitely be back read more

Finally tried out Fat Maddie's! I ordered the jalapeño chicken and was glad I could make some substitutions (I took out bacon & cheese and added pickles). When the plate came out it looked like a small serving for the price but I got pretty full with just one half. The onion rings were a bit oilier for my personal preference but still really yummy. Star of the show was definitely the garlic feta fries -- sooo garlicky, crisp and overall delicious, honestly wish we got a whole plate of just this. I appreciate the friendly, welcoming service. My friend and I took out time combing through the menu and the servers waited patiently :) This is an order + pay at counter and they will bring your food to your table. Last thing which isn't a big deal but I really liked - they used mason jars for sodas/water/etc. Just nice that it wasn't a disposable cup like most places read more

Gayle and I met one of her Sons here for Lunch near his place of work. It's a relatively small place with maybe a dozen tables all in a row and a counter for orders. I had a Pesto Chicken Sandwich, Gayle ordered a Chicken Salad, and Mike opted for a Gyro. Portions were good, the food was well prepared, and tasty, and service was fast and friendly. The Adult Beverages included a Pliny the Elder IPA, White Wine, and Ice Tea. We came in around 1 PM at the tail end of the Lunch rush, and took a table in back. Lunch was also catchup time between Gayle and her Son, of which coincidentally, I had to step out for a catch-up with one of my Brother's and my Sister regarding our regular check-ins concerning our 97 year-old Dad. Service was good; I am always in the area and Starbucks next door mentioned to give their burgers a try! We intended to have a salad so we decided to spit a burger and a salad. It wasn't overly crowded on a Sunday afternoon. We got the Cali Burger with sweet potato fries and that was very good. The sweet potato fries were thick and cooked quite well! We also ordered the strawberry salad which was recommended by one of the servers. We split that as well, but the lettuce was a bit wilted. They had a Mediterranean salad that looked quite delicious as well. read more

This place wasn't bad when I went the one time. The service overall was decent and the ambiance was fine too but nothing super special to write home about. As for the food, it too was decent but nothing special. I would go here just to try it out as well if you just need a quick bite like a sandwich or something. But I still wouldn't say this place is a must try restaurant. There are better choices out there than it, but it's still a decent place to visit. read more

You can always count on Fat Maddie's Grille! The hubs and I stopped by for lunch recently. It had been a while since we've eaten here so immediately after our first bite we look at each other and said, we gotta come here more often! I ordered the chicken Cali sandwich, the hubs ordered Frisco burger and we shared a basket of garlic fries. The buttery grilled toast on both of our sandwich/burger was perfection! I could just eat that toast all day! It's so buttery and crispy/crunchy.. just the best! I throughly enjoyed my Cali chicken sandwich that had grilled chicken, avocado, bacon, lettuce, tomatoes, onions and Mayo chipotle spread. It was soo good. My husband ate his Frisco burger and he said it was delicious too. Why the 4 stars you ask? So the sandwich and burger was yummy but the garlic fries was a bit disappointing. We ordered garlic Parmesan fries but there was barely any garlic but there was plenty of Parmesan cheese sprinkled on it, like Kraft Parmesan. Fat Maddie's was a happy surprise for us- we dropped in for a quick dinner while running errands and was not expecting to love the food so much. It was a sunny Summer weekday evening and we were craving a burger/salad/fries type of meal. The place is small and super casual- order at the counter and grab a table. While the portions are generous here, we paid $50+ for this grill/pub-style food so you're paying SR/BH pricing. The salad was amazing- loved the thick dressing, crispy bacon, and seasoned chicken. The burger was so good...if you love diner-style, BBQ at the pool reminiscent burgers- you'll love these. However, I would pass on the fries next time. My husband & I recently had lunch at Fat Maddie's. It was delicious and we will return soon. I must admit that I forgot about this place. We had not been in a few years. We usually went to the Blackhawk location for the restaurant vibe. This place is casual and just as good. We each had a salad and they do not skimp on the portion size. I haven't been for awhile, but it turns out it's still solid grub! Always friendly and quick service. Food notes: Maddie Melt (2.5 Stars) Their patty melt is not traditional, thus the name change. Comes with mushrooms and no 1k or Russian but still has Swiss cheese and caramelized grilled onions and grilled rye bread. The meat is decent, cooked to order.On its own, it's not that great, but if you add mustard or a side of 1k, it's ok. Onion rings (4 stars) always great. Clam chowder (4.5 Stars) Great claim chowder, creamy, just the right amount of claims, plenty potatoes. Good stuff! Ranch (5 Stars) Their ranch is awesome, love it on the onion rings! We have been to fat Maddie's for many years and we still love getting it when we craves for sandwiches and burgers. We went around 5pm for take out and there was no one. This time we got the grilled crab & cheese and the chili cheese dog. The crab & cheese is market price and it was $14. Generous amount of crab and the sandwich is quite big. Chili cheese dog was $10 and it had lots of chili and cheese covering the hot dog!! The hot dog didn't seem soggy and it was flavorful. Fat Maddie's has another location in Blackhawk which I haven't tried but the price seems higher. read more

I generally like this place but we had three disappointing meals yesterday. We got take out because the atmosphere here isn't nice for eating. We all got burgers. Been coming here for years with great burgers. Not tonight. First off there was easily 1000 extra calories from mayo. It was more mayo than anything else. What is that? I ordered mine medium well, my husband medium, my son medium rare. They came back as one rare and 2 medium rare. I asked them to redo mine and it came back somewhere between medium and medium rare. The inside was red. Medium well is not red in the center. Come on guys how hard is it to cook a burger to the done-ness I asked for? Staff were sweet and tried to be helpful but no one has explained to them what the levels actually are. At these prices I'll think twice before coming again. Bummer. read more

It's been a while since we have eaten here. We had a wonderful meal here tonight. My husband ordered the pork chop dinner with roasted potatoes and roasted vegetables. It was enough food for him to take home to eat tomorrow. Two big pork chops that were beautifully cooked, juicy and succulent. Nicely roasted vegetables and a whole pile of roasted potatoes. Really well done. I ordered a Cobb salad that came with very nice mixed lettuce, (no slimy pieces), half of an avocado, generous mounds of bacon and blue cheese, and a chicken breast that was cooked to perfection. Our order was taken by a very nice young man named James who made sure that we had everything we needed. He also came and checked on us a couple of times just to make sure we were happy with our food. The quality of the food here is outstanding, and you get real value for your money. read more

Maddie's favorite salad really is the best. My last two visits, I ordered Maddie's Favorite Salad and it's the perfect blend of simply delicious! It's healthy, too! The customer service is what sets this restaurant apart from all the others in the area. The servers and cashiers are always pleasant and friendly. This restaurant has outdoor and indoor seating, a friendly customer service, and some of the best food you will consume. Their burgers rivaled the best burgers in the East bay, their chicken skewers were excellent and their fries were prepared with great care. The garlic fries, for our tastes, were too much garlic. Fat Maddie's is hidden in a strip mall near Starbucks and See's candies. You order at the counter and they bring out your food when it's ready. And it came out quickly. The restruant was reasonably clean, though I did notice some crumbs on the floor under the table. The tables were wiped down when they were vacated. The burger was cooked as ordered but wasn't special. The fries were not crisp but were flavored well. The chicken pieces were smaller than expected and the breast piece was dry. I had a hard time identifying any flavor. It was a pleasant meal but nothing which made me want to return. read more

Food wasn't very tasty. A couple of people in our group had the crab and shrimp sandwiches and they were bland and they also said the fish tasted old. I thought it tasted more like canned. Whatever it was, there was no seasoning whatsoever. I had a bowl of clam chowder which is my go to soup but this one was excessively thick and it wasn't from the clams. I don't know if they used too many potatoes. The last person in our party had chicken strips and said they were better at fast food places. All in all, no one was satisfied. We went because the reviews were decent but I should have checked to see how old they were because they definitely weren't based on the cook who was there when we came in. read more

The burger was huge and cooked to perfection with crispy full-length bacon strips! The clam chowder was New England-style: thick and creamy! The crab sandwich was wonderful inside toasted crunchy buttered sourdough bread. Drinks were in glass mason jars. It was a cute place! Cali Burger, kids chicken nuggets, and ortega sandwich came here for lunch on a sunday with no other patrons in sight. eventually 2 other men stopped by but otherwise the place was empty. ordered and served straight away. cali burger is actually a sandwich since it comes with sliced bread instead of a bun. decent flavor and serving size. the Ortega was a let down. the grilled chicken was dry and the sandwhich needed some moisture maybe mayo or relish? i did not finish even one half of the sandwich. sweet potato fries and fried onion rings were on point! that turned out to be whole meal unfortunately. the kids chicken nuggets also tasted great! id skip any grilled chicken if i were you. maybe i'd come here if i was wanting a basic sandwich otherwise don't go out of your way. read more
