In a world of guessing and reading between lines...she was as direct as they come. Love that! The food was 10/10. Every guest praised the experience, and were so grateful to be in a cozy space with friends old and new. We had 28 guests in the Tuscan room and that's definitely a bit on the tight end of capacity. The cocktails were delicious, and our dedicated server was a delight. Customer service was top notch. I ordered the prawn chittara to go and it was 100/10...I hope they never take it off their menu. This place deserves a 4.25 stars. We met with family from out of town here and it was perfect for what we were looking for. It was an Absolutely beautiful day so we sat in the back patio which was fully shaded and super comfortable. Our waiters were nice, we never felt rushed. The bread basket and olive oil with garlic to start was amazing! We each ordered something different - the lemon ravioli, the petrale sole, the shrimp chiattara, and the risotto. Everyone loved their dishes! I had the shrimp chiattara and I was shocked how much I liked it. I honestly really underestimated how good the food would be here. The pasta was perfectly cooked, same with my shrimp, and I loved my shrimp brodo sauce. We shared some tiramisu at the end, it was a very light version of tiramisu which was great to end lunch. Came by for Sunday brunch for a bridal shower and such a lovely place!! Restaurant is spacious with ample seating, and the service was top-notch! The staff was super attentive and handled our large group effortlessly. The meal started off with freshly baked bread and signature dipping sauce, along with a plate of crisp veggies and dips. Their dipping is loaded with garlic and balsamic and is seriously so addictive you can't stop eating it! For the main course, I tried the rigatoni bolognese and it was incredible. The pasta was cooked perfectly, and the beef and pork ragu was rich, savory, and so comforting. Piatti is one of my favorite places in Danville. The back patio is a wonderful place and a highlight. The menu has not seemed to change for many years. It's all very good, but a refresh is truly needed. Service was mixed, and that's a consistent problem. I've had both exceptional and poor service. In speaking with friends, their experiences are similar. I'm unsure if they are understaffed, or if staff are asked to cover too many tables. After six years staying in the area we missed in this spot. Located in beautiful Danville and has plenty of seating area ., a wrap around verandah and open tall ceilings with open kitchen is a good modern and classic mix. We enjoyed the Sauvignon blanc and espresso martini. The starter warm bread with herbed olive oil was perfect with the wine. We ordered mushroom soup to be shared between two and it was delicious. Chicken piccata and prawn Chittara were freshly made and one of the bests we have had so far. Our server Roberto was very polite and the service was very quick. Piatti, nestled in the corner of a strip mall off Sycamore Valley Rd, is fairly decent. The service is a tad lackluster, though that could've been a consequence of the table's placement as it was stowed away in the corner. Overall, the food is pretty good. The bread is outstanding, akin to a baguette with its crusty outside and plush interior. I wonder if they bake it fresh in house, what with the bread arriving steaming and hot to the touch. The oil that accompanies it is spectacular too, perfectly acidic with the balsamic vinegar contrasted by the acrid olive oil. All entrees are delicious though not the best in show by any means. For a casual restaurant though, the libations have no business being that delicious. I had an old fashioned, something of a go-to as of late. Leaves nothing to be desired. Truly just an archetype old fashioned, a symphony of bitters and whiskey. Dessert at the end was tiramisu, which was a good tiramisu. Such is expected at an Italian spot though. read more

Everyone on their staff seems positive, nice, efficient & helpful! Everyone! We met my parents here for happy hour. So fun! The guys liked the one & only beer on their limited happy hour menu. Which also includes 3 other drinks with alcohol. We tried their: French fries 5+stars; Calamari 5 stars & bruschetta(too small, but) 5 stars; meatballs & pizza 3 stars. So now we know You need to sit in the bar area, counter or bar tables to order from their happy hour menu. The bar area was not overly crowded, but 80% full the entire time. If they had a couple more drinks on that happy hour menu, it'd be rocking I think. read more

5/5 Amazing restaurant!!! Made a reservation here for my birthday and got seated at a two seater for my mom and I. The host was very friendly with us throughout the night and you even get a special birthday card for your birthday! Makes you feel special haha. We came around 5pm on Friday and it's packed! Make sure to make a reservation or you might not even get seated. We ordered the margarita pizza, meatball, and shrimp pasta. Pizza: It's ok, my mom really liked it, but personally the dough was a bit too flimsy and not too my liking. I still enjoyed it though! 3/5 Meatballs: Two big sized meatballs in a hot skillet with sauce. Honestly, what sold me was the sauce more than the meatball. It tastes like vodka sauce but I think they added crack! I would enjoy a dish here if it was pasta with the sauce. 5/5 Shrimp pasta: The noodles are hand made here and I can definitely tell as it's very authentic and the texture is great! The sauce is very yummy as well but it had too much of a shrimp/prawn flavor for me. However, my mom absolutely loved this dish. 4/5 Bread: the bread here isn't free, but it's 100% worth it. I think it's the balsamic vinegar sauce + olive oil sauce that really makes it special too. They added garlic and seasoning and parsley(?) but I ended up eating all of the sauce!!! After several years of talking about heading to Danville and trying out Piatta, we finally were able to. While a little on the higher-end side for Italian cuisine, Piatta did not disappoint. The service was great, quick, and attentive, and the ambiance and atmosphere of the restaurant was relaxed, and more casual and easygoing than one would think based on location. We were offered bread and an olive oil and herbs dip prior to ordering, which was delicious and great. We ordered a ravioli dish and a steak, and my wife and I shared both, which were fantastic, and we had a little bit for leftovers, which tasted nearly as good the next day. I would highly recommend Piatti, for those looking for an elevated Italian dining experience, in a nice but casual setting. We were also celebrating our wedding anniversary, and were given a lovely anniversary card, signed by the majority of the staff, which was a really nice touch! read more

This is a return visit review and I have to say, everything was such a major improvement. I am glad I went back and gave them another chance. We went for Father's Day too and the restaurant was absolutely packed. However, that didn't affect the food quality or service one bit. As usual, the service was wonderful, from the hostess to the rest of the staff! Our server was Patricia, and she was just such a breath of fresh air...friendly, funny, and just full of joy. The fritto misto was so delicious. The calamari wasn't rubbery or hard at all. The aioli it comes with had a mild kick to it as well from the Calabrian chili and it was just perfect. My parents both ordered the Petrale Sole and they loved their dishes. I ordered the chicken picatta and it was delicious. The chicken had a lovely sear on it and all the portions were very generous for all our entrees. I need to revisit the bread and dipping oil from my last review/visit. It was night and day this time. The bread was soft on the inside with a nice flaky crust on the outside! The dipping oil was full flavor as well. I think we had bad luck last time. We also ordered the white chocolate bread pudding, tiramisu, and vanilla bean gelato for dessert. Each one was 10/10. The inside was lovely as always and we had a nice cozy booth that they were so nice to reserve for us because I had requested it on my reservation. During my last visit, I enjoyed their perfectly cooked salmon with a salad, but this time I was craving carbs, so I decided to try the Bucatini. I definitely went overboard with the carbs, consuming about five loaves of bread before my pasta came. The dipping sauce that accompanies the bread is absolutely phenomenal. I've come here for years and have preferred forbes mill and the newer Donho for a change. In last 2x months I visited and the food and service has taken a nose dive from what it used to be. The front patio service has been horrible not because the staff is bad but because the owner is terribly understaffed to save money. The food is getting just as bad. I have had lunch salads2 times and on both occasions the lettuce was broken and dry or slimy but burried in dressing so it was not noticeable and just recently it left a bad taste in my mouth for a few hours after I ate. The grilled shrimp on my salad had previously been frozen and overcooked as well because it took a steak knife to cut the rubbery meat. I was very dissapointed and so I complained to the owner and he said for better service always request the back patio because they have more service. Even when He saw me paying my check he never considered a comp for the salad though I was very clear about my experience for food and service. To this gentleman just know that Money is the most important factor over food and service. and we felt the other ingredients were from package and not fresh like canned crispy onions from Costco or bagged lettuce. I will never return ever again. It has become an overrated Fridays. I am hoping some of the good staff will move to other high quality restaurants in the plaza so we can continue to see them. read more

While I have enjoyed the restaurant in the past, this time out-of-town guests were not treated with the same level of hospitality. The service was notably slow, with no water being served and an excessively long wait for our server to arrive at our table to take our orders. The service from the bar was equally sluggish. We ordered appetizers and drinks, but the empty plates were left on the table for an extended period. Our server took our dinner order even though the empty plates were still present. The dinner orders arrived, but no one ever came to the table to remove the empty plates. The server attempted to place the dinner orders around the empty plates, which was the first time I had to request that the empty dishes be removed from the table. Furthermore, the food quality was significantly inferior to what I had experienced in the past. The pasta was thick and "gooey. Overall, very disappointing. read more

I came back to Piatti's for a double date and discovered a new favorite- the skillet prawns. I still think about them to this day and would come back literally for this dish. My perfect three course here would be the skillet prawns, rigatoni, and bread pudding. My boyfriend tried a spicy tomato sauce bucatini which unfortunately was extremely bland. For what they charge , you'd think it would be a nice thick pork chop with a good sized bone in . Not nearly, plus had to return, was overdone. Our dinner reservations for a party of (6) were this past Saturday and let's just say our expectations were more than met! This was my first visit to Piatti in Danville but it definitely won't be my last! We arrived a little bit early but were immediately greeted and seated. Our server came by promptly brought us water, took our drink order and asked if we wanted bread. The bread was extremely warm, generous in portion size and was accompanied with one of the best sauce I've ever had. I don't know what the mix consisted of, but it was unbelievably tasty. I typically don't like garlic but I couldn't resist eating more bread just so I can dip it in this magical sauce. The menu is straight forward without being overly complicated or having too many unnecessary options. Appetizers ordered were fried calamari, bruschetta and olives. All great options and easily shareable. I opted for the Margherita pizza, which was cooked perfectly in a coal pizza oven. The ingredients were perfectly assorted and you can just taste the freshness. Every member of our party was satisfied with their meals. From chicken to steak, the food was perfectly cooked. For drinks, a full bar is located to the right of the restaurant. I had one old-fashioned and thoroughly enjoyed it. I limited myself to one drink as I was driving but had I been a passenger, I would have easily ordered one or two more- they were that good! In terms of service, the pace is good. It wasn't 'fast', but it wasn't slow either. It was the right amount of speed for us to enjoy our bread, appetizers and entrées. Our waiter was very educated on the menu and you could tell this guy is a professional. It's rare to see this level of professionalism from a waiter in the SF Bay Area, but you'll get it here! Lastly, let's talk pricing. I was shocked at the bill. It was far cheaper than I expected. Considering the amount of food we ordered and alcohol, the pricing is more than fair. We celebrated an early Fathers Day here with my dad today. Here are some of the awesome reasons I gave it 4 stars: 1. Beautiful, calming vibe - we ate out on the patio and it was a beautiful day. 2. The appetizers/desserts were delicious! 3. The server was very kind and upbeat. 4. VERY clean restaurant. The only thing all 3 of us were bummed about was our entrees. We ordered 3 different items - pasta w/beef bolognese, sole petrale and the seafood risotto and we UNANIMOUSLY agreed that the food was severely under seasoned for all 2 items. I personally NEVER add salt to my food as Im super sensitive to it. However, I had to add LOTS of salt to this dish to help with the lack of flavor. Im hoping I just caught them on a rough day. This is the first time I've been there since they remodeled. They sat us in an extra room by the bar that was nice because it was so much quieter. The rest of the restaurant is really loud. Dinner here was just so so. I've had good dinners at this place before but not so much today. I had the Bolognese and it was just dull. The spinach salad was wonderful. My daughter's dinner was something with pesto and lemon ricotta, but I can't remember the name. She said it was just OK until we added lemon to it. The waitress was wonderful and attentive. Came here yesterday for the first time since my husband and I were looking for an Italian place that opened before noon. We got seated quickly since we were still within the initial 30 min of opening. Once we got seated, the server was really attentive, allowing time when needed but also not waiting too long before taking our orders. I ended up getting their arancia ginger soda, a cup of their minestrone soup, the Manila clams linguini, and their roasted broccolini. My husband got their polpette sandwich and the butternut squash soup. The ginger soda was interesting as you can definitely taste the component. The slice of ginger placed in it was interesting though ultimately I didn't do anything with it. It's a bit unnecessary in my opinion. The minestrone soup was pretty good, but I wish the fresh basil wasn't on top since it would occasionally overwhelm the soup's natural taste. Otherwise the base itself was spot on delicious. The Manila clam linguini was okay honestly. Nothing really worth writing home about except for the fact the linguini was cut in a special way as opposed to the generic factory cut version of the pasta. The clams were a bit small so I do wish they were bigger. Oddly enough, I enjoyed the broccolini more as that was flavorful and cooked perfectly. It's a really good side. So would I come back? Maybe?
