Exceptional. I worked with Tami, the events manager for my Mom's birthday celebration. She was responsive, thorough, and very transparent. In a world of guessing and reading between lines...she was as direct as they come. Love that! The food was 10/10. Every guest praised the experience, and were so grateful to be in a cozy space with friends old and new. We had 28 guests in the Tuscan room and that's definitely a bit on the tight end of capacity. The cocktails were delicious, and our dedicated server was a delight. Customer service was top notch. I ordered the prawn chittara to go and it was 100/10...I hope they never take it off their menu. Its phenomenal. Can't wait to come back for dinner soon. read more

One tip before dining here: if you plan to sit outside in the evening, be sure to check the temperature. Danville can get quite chilly after sunset, especially in the beautiful tree-lined outdoor dining area. During our visit, the restaurant seemed to be managing several large parties at once, and there appeared to be some communication challenges between the host, waitstaff, and bussing team. Better coordination during busy periods would certainly improve the overall service experience. That said, our waiter, Zack, deserves special recognition. Despite the pressure, he and the supporting staff worked tirelessly to provide the best service possible. Zack remained attentive and did his best to make sure we were comfortable and taken care of throughout the evening. It was impressive to see a young server handle such a demanding situation with professionalism and determination. The food was the true highlight of the evening. While the menu is somewhat limited, the dishes are flavorful, authentic, and beautifully presented. You can tell that the chef and kitchen staff take great pride in their work. One of the standout dishes was the pork chop with glazed carrots and peach chutney. The combination of flavors and textures was exceptional--each bite was beautifully balanced and memorable. Overall, we had a wonderful experience celebrating a birthday with friends visiting from out of town. Everyone was impressed by the food and the beautiful ambiance. Despite a few service challenges, the hardworking staff and excellent food made this a memorable evening. read more

*UPDATE* Tonight, my husband and I went to Piatti for dinner to celebrate my birthday. This restaurant has always held a special place in our hearts. A few years ago, we even had our wedding dinner here, and we've come back many, many times over the years. That's why it's honestly difficult for me to say this, but the food tonight was really disappointing and nowhere near the quality we've experienced here in the past. I had ordered the salmon here before, and it was genuinely one of the best salmon dishes I had ever had. So tonight, I ordered it again hoping to have the same experience. Unfortunately, it was completely different. It didn't have much flavor, and it wasn't cooked properly in the center. My husband ordered the Eggplant Parmesan, which was okay, so we ended up switching plates. Our server noticed and asked why we had switched. I was honest and told her that I didn't enjoy my dish. She was very kind, apologized, and offered to have something else made for me. I really appreciated that, but since we were hungry and didn't want to wait even longer for another dish, I decided not to order anything else. Unfortunately, this wasn't the first time we've noticed a change in the food. The last time we visited, I ordered the Chicken Piccata, and it was nothing like what I had enjoyed here in the past. At the time, I thought maybe it was just a one-time experience. But after tonight, I'm starting to feel that something has really changed, perhaps a change in management or the chef. It honestly makes me sad to write this because Piatti has been such a special place for my husband and me, and we have so many wonderful memories here. But after our last two experiences, I don't think we'll be coming back. I truly hope the quality returns to what it used to be, because it's such a shame to see a restaurant that once meant so much to us change this much. read more

After six years staying in the area we missed in this spot. Located in beautiful Danville and has plenty of seating area ., a wrap around verandah and open tall ceilings with open kitchen is a good modern and classic mix. We enjoyed the Sauvignon blanc and espresso martini. The starter warm bread with herbed olive oil was perfect with the wine. We ordered mushroom soup to be shared between two and it was delicious. Chicken piccata and prawn Chittara were freshly made and one of the bests we have had so far. Our server Roberto was very polite and the service was very quick. Definitely we will try dinner here with whole family. There is plenty of parking outside. read more

Piatti, nestled in the corner of a strip mall off Sycamore Valley Rd, is fairly decent. The service is a tad lackluster, though that could've been a consequence of the table's placement as it was stowed away in the corner. Overall, the food is pretty good. The bread is outstanding, akin to a baguette with its crusty outside and plush interior. I wonder if they bake it fresh in house, what with the bread arriving steaming and hot to the touch. The oil that accompanies it is spectacular too, perfectly acidic with the balsamic vinegar contrasted by the acrid olive oil. All entrees are delicious though not the best in show by any means. For a casual restaurant though, the libations have no business being that delicious. I had an old fashioned, something of a go-to as of late. Leaves nothing to be desired. Truly just an archetype old fashioned, a symphony of bitters and whiskey. Dessert at the end was tiramisu, which was a good tiramisu. Such is expected at an Italian spot though. read more

Enjoy eating at Piatti. Usually everything goes well and staff is attentive. Tonight when we asked for to go boxes, waiter got it mixed up and we did not find out till we each got home. Called restaurant and hostess was a bit flippant. Disappointing as usually all goes smoothly. read more

This place deserves a 4.25 stars. We met with family from out of town here and it was perfect for what we were looking for. It was an Absolutely beautiful day so we sat in the back patio which was fully shaded and super comfortable. Our waiters were nice, we never felt rushed. The bread basket and olive oil with garlic to start was amazing! We each ordered something different - the lemon ravioli, the petrale sole, the shrimp chiattara, and the risotto. Everyone loved their dishes! I had the shrimp chiattara and I was shocked how much I liked it. I honestly really underestimated how good the food would be here. The pasta was perfectly cooked, same with my shrimp, and I loved my shrimp brodo sauce. We shared some tiramisu at the end, it was a very light version of tiramisu which was great to end lunch. But the slices were much bigger than we thought! I would definitely come back here. The back patio was lovely, even indoors is beautiful. Easy parking, and great food! read more

Came by for Sunday brunch for a bridal shower and such a lovely place!! Restaurant is spacious with ample seating, and the service was top-notch! The staff was super attentive and handled our large group effortlessly. The meal started off with freshly baked bread and signature dipping sauce, along with a plate of crisp veggies and dips. Their dipping is loaded with garlic and balsamic and is seriously so addictive you can't stop eating it! For the main course, I tried the rigatoni bolognese and it was incredible. The pasta was cooked perfectly, and the beef and pork ragu was rich, savory, and so comforting. Finished the meal off with a tiramisu, which was the absolute perfect sweet treat--light, creamy, and melts in your mouth good! read more

Piatti is one of my favorite places in Danville. The back patio is a wonderful place and a highlight. The menu has not seemed to change for many years. It's all very good, but a refresh is truly needed. Service was mixed, and that's a consistent problem. I've had both exceptional and poor service. In speaking with friends, their experiences are similar. I'm unsure if they are understaffed, or if staff are asked to cover too many tables. In sum, I'm a fan, it's a great place, but service is uneven. read more

I'm surprised I've not reviewed this place before. This restaurant is so nice looking & rustic from the outside. Inside, clean, well lit & spacious. Everyone on their staff seems positive, nice, efficient & helpful! Everyone! We met my parents here for happy hour. So fun! The guys liked the one & only beer on their limited happy hour menu. Which also includes 3 other drinks with alcohol. We tried their: French fries 5+stars; Calamari 5 stars & bruschetta(too small, but) 5 stars; meatballs & pizza 3 stars. So now we know You need to sit in the bar area, counter or bar tables to order from their happy hour menu. The bar area was not overly crowded, but 80% full the entire time. If they had a couple more drinks on that happy hour menu, it'd be rocking I think. read more

5/5 Amazing restaurant!!! Made a reservation here for my birthday and got seated at a two seater for my mom and I. The host was very friendly with us throughout the night and you even get a special birthday card for your birthday! Makes you feel special haha. We came around 5pm on Friday and it's packed! Make sure to make a reservation or you might not even get seated. We ordered the margarita pizza, meatball, and shrimp pasta. Pizza: It's ok, my mom really liked it, but personally the dough was a bit too flimsy and not too my liking. I still enjoyed it though! 3/5 Meatballs: Two big sized meatballs in a hot skillet with sauce. Honestly, what sold me was the sauce more than the meatball. It tastes like vodka sauce but I think they added crack! I would enjoy a dish here if it was pasta with the sauce. 5/5 Shrimp pasta: The noodles are hand made here and I can definitely tell as it's very authentic and the texture is great! The sauce is very yummy as well but it had too much of a shrimp/prawn flavor for me. However, my mom absolutely loved this dish. 4/5 Bread: the bread here isn't free, but it's 100% worth it. I think it's the balsamic vinegar sauce + olive oil sauce that really makes it special too. They added garlic and seasoning and parsley(?) but I ended up eating all of the sauce!!! Do not skip! 5/5 The ambience is great as it's cozy but the restaurant is big. The servers check up on you and are attentive as well. And again, the hostess was so nice to us! I would definitely come here again for a special event :) read more

We have been coming to Piatti for years. In the past every meal was outstanding. We went on Sunday for dinner . The service started with a hiccup where we were seated and then no one came to bring water , drink orders or greet us for about 10 minutes. A large table was seated after us and their orders were placed while we waited. Once the staff was notified they made a wonderful recovery and the service was great . We ordered the chopped salad . It was bland and unappetizing. The dressing was watery and flavorless . For an appetizer the meatballs were great and a very generous portion. We ordered the Petrale Sole and the Gluten Free Bolognese for dinner. The pasta serving was also generous. The flavor was also bland. The Petrale Sole had the texture of beef jerky. It was so overcooked I could not eat it . I realize ordering seafood at an Italian restaurant isn't ideal but for $39 I would expect it to be edible . The broccolini was mushy and overcooked. It was a disappointment since it is such a beautiful and cozy venue with a long history in the community. read more

Came to dinner to celebrate a friend's birthday, and the place was packed. Despite the crowd, service was very good with our waiter making sure he took our order promptly, food was prepared as requested, and that our drinks and waters were filled. We all enjoyed our dinner. Everything was delicious! The service was exceptional. We went for 40th anniversary. We did not inform the staff about our occasion and just wanted to be treated like an every day occurrence. I ordered the Rigatoni Bolognese and the Fritto Misti. The bolognese sauce was cooked just like home. I'm Italian and I know. The calamari were fried to perfection. My husband had the salmon and enjoyed his dish. My daughter ordered the Risotto and she could not believe his delicious it was. This is a return visit review and I have to say, everything was such a major improvement. I am glad I went back and gave them another chance. We went for Father's Day too and the restaurant was absolutely packed. However, that didn't affect the food quality or service one bit. As usual, the service was wonderful, from the hostess to the rest of the staff! Our server was Patricia, and she was just such a breath of fresh air...friendly, funny, and just full of joy. The fritto misto was so delicious. The calamari wasn't rubbery or hard at all. The aioli it comes with had a mild kick to it as well from the Calabrian chili and it was just perfect. My parents both ordered the Petrale Sole and they loved their dishes. I ordered the chicken picatta and it was delicious. The chicken had a lovely sear on it and all the portions were very generous for all our entrees. I need to revisit the bread and dipping oil from my last review/visit. It was night and day this time. The bread was soft on the inside with a nice flaky crust on the outside! The dipping oil was full flavor as well. I think we had bad luck last time. We also ordered the white chocolate bread pudding, tiramisu, and vanilla bean gelato for dessert. Each one was 10/10. The inside was lovely as always and we had a nice cozy booth that they were so nice to reserve for us because I had requested it on my reservation. I know during special occasions, it can be hard for them to accommodate seating requests, but they were very mindful and cared to do that for their customers. read more

This was my second time dining at this lovely establishment. During my last visit, I enjoyed their perfectly cooked salmon with a salad, but this time I was craving carbs, so I decided to try the Bucatini. I definitely went overboard with the carbs, consuming about five loaves of bread before my pasta came. The dipping sauce that accompanies the bread is absolutely phenomenal. The service was excellent, and I had a wonderful time with our clients. I can't wait to see you all again! read more

After several years of talking about heading to Danville and trying out Piatta, we finally were able to. While a little on the higher-end side for Italian cuisine, Piatta did not disappoint. The service was great, quick, and attentive, and the ambiance and atmosphere of the restaurant was relaxed, and more casual and easygoing than one would think based on location. We were offered bread and an olive oil and herbs dip prior to ordering, which was delicious and great. We ordered a ravioli dish and a steak, and my wife and I shared both, which were fantastic, and we had a little bit for leftovers, which tasted nearly as good the next day. I would highly recommend Piatti, for those looking for an elevated Italian dining experience, in a nice but casual setting. We were also celebrating our wedding anniversary, and were given a lovely anniversary card, signed by the majority of the staff, which was a really nice touch! read more

Happy hour was amazing. 3 to 6. Great selection of appetizers and the Meat balls are amazing! The best I. The Bay Area. The signature is the warm sour dough and olive oils with garlic for dipping! I came back to Piatti's for a double date and discovered a new favorite- the skillet prawns. I still think about them to this day and would come back literally for this dish. My perfect three course here would be the skillet prawns, rigatoni, and bread pudding. My boyfriend tried a spicy tomato sauce bucatini which unfortunately was extremely bland. The menu seems hit or miss here, but I would still recommend trying their star dishes. read more

Our dinner reservations for a party of (6) were this past Saturday and let's just say our expectations were more than met! This was my first visit to Piatti in Danville but it definitely won't be my last! We arrived a little bit early but were immediately greeted and seated. Our server came by promptly brought us water, took our drink order and asked if we wanted bread. The bread was extremely warm, generous in portion size and was accompanied with one of the best sauce I've ever had. I don't know what the mix consisted of, but it was unbelievably tasty. I typically don't like garlic but I couldn't resist eating more bread just so I can dip it in this magical sauce. The menu is straight forward without being overly complicated or having too many unnecessary options. Appetizers ordered were fried calamari, bruschetta and olives. All great options and easily shareable. I opted for the Margherita pizza, which was cooked perfectly in a coal pizza oven. The ingredients were perfectly assorted and you can just taste the freshness. Every member of our party was satisfied with their meals. From chicken to steak, the food was perfectly cooked. For drinks, a full bar is located to the right of the restaurant. I had one old-fashioned and thoroughly enjoyed it. I limited myself to one drink as I was driving but had I been a passenger, I would have easily ordered one or two more- they were that good! In terms of service, the pace is good. It wasn't 'fast', but it wasn't slow either. It was the right amount of speed for us to enjoy our bread, appetizers and entrées. Our waiter was very educated on the menu and you could tell this guy is a professional. It's rare to see this level of professionalism from a waiter in the SF Bay Area, but you'll get it here! Lastly, let's talk pricing. I was shocked at the bill. It was far cheaper than I expected. Considering the amount of food we ordered and alcohol, the pricing is more than fair. In fact, it's on the cheaper side which is surprising as this is a 'nice' restaurant. Thank you for the great food & service. I plan on coming back on many occasions. read more

We celebrated an early Fathers Day here with my dad today. Here are some of the awesome reasons I gave it 4 stars: 1. Beautiful, calming vibe - we ate out on the patio and it was a beautiful day. 2. The appetizers/desserts were delicious! 3. The server was very kind and upbeat. 4. VERY clean restaurant. The only thing all 3 of us were bummed about was our entrees. We ordered 3 different items - pasta w/beef bolognese, sole petrale and the seafood risotto and we UNANIMOUSLY agreed that the food was severely under seasoned for all 2 items. I personally NEVER add salt to my food as Im super sensitive to it. However, I had to add LOTS of salt to this dish to help with the lack of flavor. Im hoping I just caught them on a rough day. Ill go back and give them another shot. I will say their desserts and appetizers were the true winners today! read more

Overrated. Crowded parking lot, long waits, but decent Italian food. The server was nice. But getting food from the kitchen was extremely slow. After waiting an hour to get seated, this was a grueling ordeal. The bread on the table vanished quickly and it took a while to get a refill. Our party would have been better served elsewhere. We expected better for the prices they charge here. When we finally got our food, everyone thought it was OK, but maybe we were just famished. I hate to do this because Piatti in Carmel was one of our absolute standout favorite restaurants every time we would visit. This just...missed the mark a bit.
