Another fantastic lunch at Revel! Always a go to place for a nice lunch meeting or a special dinner or a place for drinks with some friends. The food is always superb and the service is always great.
A quaint dining experience located in downtown Danville. A small but spacious establishment with outside seating, with a bar and seating around the bar. The World Cup was playing while I dined. I made reservations for 6:45 and we were seated a little early. The place was packed and loud. There were a small group that was overly boisterous which made for an unsettling dining experience but fortunately that left mid way through our dining experience. The food was amazing we had the lamb and chicken sliders and both were so delicious, adding the aioli to this lamb slider made it even better. The brown butter chocolate chip cookies with sea salt so good!!! These were the best chocolate chip cookies I've had. Everything is made in house daily and our server, Daniel and the manager were the best!
Took my dad here for his birthday and he enjoyed the bavette steak. Thanks to all the other reviews here, it's truly worth the hype. One of the best steak we've tried. Service is very attentive! I just didn't like the spot they put us because it was very tight with a baby. Vibe is pretty loud so if you came here to catch up, don't expect to hear each other! My farro risotto was alright, I had better. The strawberry crumble was our favorite dessert! While the brownie one was far too rich for our taste.
Popped in on a Tuesday night for a date night since the reviews were good. They've got a nice location in downtown Danville and the atmosphere is hip/upscale with regular dining tables and a bar area as well. We started off with orange honey glazed pork belly. That dish was nice- pork was tender with the sweet/sour of the glaze. For our mains we got the Rustichella D'Abruzzo Orecchiette and the paella (Tuesday special). The orecchiette was pretty good- nice sized prawns and tasty sausage but we were disappointed with the paella. Seemed more like a seafood risotto and pretty spicy. Overall decent but a little underwhelming for a date night out. Maybe we ordered the wrong things since the other reviews have been consistently good.
On a dinner date almost after 2 years! The place is right on the Main Street and favorite among locals for service and food both. We ordered burrata from small plates and few drinks. Everything was really good For mains we ordered lamb sliders and risotto. 5/5 for both. But the hand cut fries worth mentioning as they were absolutely crunchy test soft inside and not at all oily. They make mean espresso martini but it could be a bit of a wait. Loved in Giverny and the mules. Definitely on our list for multiple visits.
Stopped here for lunch with my boyfriend. It was great! Good service. Nice N/A drink selection. I had the shrimp salad - Wild caught shrimp - nicely grilled. The fruit was perfectly ripe in thin slices. Nice walnut pieces. Butter leaf lettuce - no bruised leaves. Feta. Good dressing. I was very pleased. The bf got the buttermilk biscuit fried chicken sliders. Actually the best biscuit I have ever tried. Very moist! Will definitely be returning to try more! They really need to put some kind of feet on the chairs outside because the scrapping on the patio is a bit distracting to the meal and the service.
The best happy hour!!! The Wagyu sliders are my favorite!!! I wish they had it on the regular menu! It's a pretty decently sized slider. Has some crunchy onions and blue cheese in it. The fries are good also! Tastes crispy like the McDonald's ones. The steak skewer was good too! Nice sauce and arugula side salad with it. Oysters were fresh as well! We ordered the Mexican and Kentucky mules which were very tasty and refreshing! Def come here for happy hour! Service was pretty quick and plenty of tables and seating during happy hour.
Revel is an upscale tavern in downtown Danville. Always a lively place to hangout for its prime location, unique handcrafted cocktails and delicious food. I have been coming to Revel for many years with girlfriends, family, and double dates. The service is decent. You might have to catch your servers attention when they're super busy but it's overall pretty good. Their apps are always a hit. For the years I've been coming, the food is consistently amazing! One of our faves is the truffle fries. When it gets to our table, the savory aroma of truffle wafts through the air and we can't wait to dig in!! Also love the deviled eggs, the salads, and the fried chicken sliders. Today's visit, we tried something new: Mushroom Soup: I cannot resist a cup of mushroom soup. Warm and savory. The earthy color and delicious fungi flavor make this bowl so comforting on a cold autumn evening. Orange-Honey Glazed Pork Belly. That was a wonderful and flavorful bite of heaven! Not gamey. Not fatty. Well-balanced flavors and melt-in-your mouth amazing! For dinner, we shared the: BRAISED NATURAL BONELESS SHORT RIBS - so tender and flavorful and the polenta is to die for!!!! So creamy and a great compliment to the short ribs. The handcrafted cocktails here have always been amazing, well-balanced, and real! Real strong! Lol. No sweet sugary concoctions or slushy fruity drinks here. You get real cocktails! So put your big girl pants on and drink up! The Farm Fresh is a great cocktail that changes seasonally depending on the fruits in season. Love that!! Desserts at Revel are also amazing! My favorite is the Butterscotch Pudding! I order that every time. This visit, we also tried: Fall Apple Crumble Tart: the crust was flaky! Sticky Toffee Pear Cake: Rich delicious yet not too ooey gooey. Love the flavor!! New for me is seeing their vegan menu! I'm so excited about this because I get to bring my vegan bestie to try Revel now.
Does anyone have the Amex Platinum? That's how I found out about this place! With the card, you get $100 Resy credits per quarter and this restaurant is on the Resy site! My fiancé and I came here for New Year Eve lunch and the place was packed! I didn't know how to change the reservation on Resy but we were put at an outside table. If you remember, it was pouring rain on NYE and we asked if we could sit inside. They shuffled some things around and found us a cozy corner spot which we were so thankful for. Staff is very friendly and kind! The place is super modern inside and has a nice ambiance. We ordered the appetizer wings, a coke, a Hugo spritz, and a wagyu burger with bacon & upgraded the side to truffle fries for us to split. The bill and tip came out to $100 so the whole bill was covered by the card benefit (yay!). I accidentally forgot to take a picture of the burger because I was so hungry lol but the wings were really good and not too spicy. I don't like blue cheese but he does and he said the blue cheese aioli that came with the wings were insanely good. The Hugo spritz in the picture was also really delicious! We would come back here, this will be a new fav!

They have a parking lot behind the restaurant, street parking can be difficult. We parked behind the restaurant on a cold rainy Saturday night. It was busy but we had reservations. Our table wasn't ready yet, so we waited around 10 minutes then we were seated. It is a restaurant and bar. A tad loud if you're looking for a quiet dinner but it was fine. We were seated across from the bar with a tv so I could watch the tail end of 3rd quarter and 4th of the warriors winning the game. We started with mussels, a light sauce with bread to dip and it had a few pieces of sausages. Light and tasty! Next I had the shrimp and grits. I didn't realize the grits are pretty filling. The shrimp was perfectly cooked with mushrooms and small pieces of ham. I did try a bite of the pork chop and the Brussel sprouts but not the wagu burger or short ribs. The dessert, I had the warm brownie with ice cream and caramel. The toffee cake was ok and I did not trying to the pudding. I would go back and try a few more items. Great place to meet up with friends and have a drink and watch a game. The service was great our server was attentive the entire time.

Spicy Wild Prawns - my fave. Must order. You will not regret it Steamed Mussels - delicious. these two alone can make for a great evening Ahi Tuna - very good, not a traditional preparation but still good Oysters - on point. pair with the Veltliner or Sancerre. amazing Roasted Beet salad - if you like beets, then do not hesitate. read more
Four Years Later... A 50/50 Experience, But That Out of Bounds Keeps Me Coming Back My last review of Revel was about four years ago, and it was not a good one. Since then, I've returned more than a dozen times, mostly for Happy Hour and my favorite cocktail Restaurants change, and staff changes frequently. With those changes, the overall experience can change as well. After all of these visits, I would say my experience at Revel has been about 50/50, both with the food and the service. That said, there are definitely things here that keep me coming back. Happy Hour is my favorite. I'm fortunate to be recognized by a few of the servers, and when I'm seated in their section, the experience is always good. The Happy Hour food is generally solid, but my real reason for returning is the Out of Bounds (OOFB) cocktail--a small-batch Old Fashioned that is absolutely worth the trip. On a recent Saturday evening, I decided to order an OOFB and give dinner another try. My dining partner ordered the risotto, and I'm glad they did because this was, without a doubt, the best risotto we've had here to date. It arrived at an appropriate temperature, was a generous portion, beautifully plated, and was a complete flavor bomb. I'm not generally a risotto person, yet I ended up eating half of it! I ordered the mussels after seeing them being served at a neighboring table. I didn't read the description before ordering, which was my mistake. They arrived at the appropriate temperature, were nicely presented, and every mussel was opened. The flavor was good, but there was a level of heat that I personally didn't enjoy. I didn't send them back because, honestly, that was on me for not reading the description or asking about the spice level. If you enjoy a little spicy heat along with saffron, these mussels may be right up your alley. Overall, the food was good, with the risotto definitely being something I would return for. The service, unfortunately, was another story. Our main server was largely absent, so we repeatedly had to ask other servers for assistance. That's frustrating, especially when you're trying to enjoy a Saturday night dinner. I understand that staffing and service can vary, but this was noticeable enough to impact the overall experience. So once again, my Revel experience landed somewhere in that familiar 50/50 category. The food has definite highlights, the OOFB keeps me coming back, and when you get the right server, the experience can be really enjoyable. I just wish the service were more consistently attentive. I feel four stars is a fair overall rating. I'm taking away one star primarily because of the lack of attentiveness from our main server. Revel is definitely a hot spot in Danville, and with that popularity can sometimes come some inconsistency. That said, I would absolutely recommend starting with Happy Hour if you haven't been. It remains my favorite way to enjoy Revel--and that Out of Bounds is still worth the trip! read more

Great ambiance and food in Danville near the clock tower. I was especially wowed by the deviled eggs with truffle and the lemon meringue tart with raspberry sauce. Also had a really good risotto and a nice "farm fresh" drink which was a vodka and pear cocktail. My server was excellent and attentive. Hard to get in for dinner but a little easier to get in at lunch or late afternoon. If you like this spot, you'll also enjoy Social Bird in Lafayette which has the same owners and some of the same dishes, including the excellent burger. read more

Tonight we stopped by Revel for some drinks and we can't ever pas up truffle fries. The service was wonderful, drinks were great, and truffle fries were yummy! We sat outside and enjoyed watching everyone while the heaters kept us warm. Great ambiance! The menu was good as well. We will be back! It is pricy but a great place to take a group of people since they have a menu full of variety! read more

My wife and I chose this restaurant to celebrate our 10th anniversary, as we've done occasionally over the many years it's been open. We've also visited their other location, Esin Cafe, and I even remember meeting the owners about 20 years ago when they were just starting out in a small spot in San Ramon. We've always had pleasant experiences here. There is absolutely nothing negative to say about the quality of the food or the ambience. Both were excellent, as usual. The reason I'm giving one star has nothing to do with the meal itself, but with how we were made to feel at the end of the night. When making the reservation, I clearly stated it was our 10-year anniversary. When we arrived, both the hostess and our server asked again if we were celebrating anything, and we told them, again, that it was our 10-year anniversary. After a wonderful meal, what was brought to our table was a small, empty plate with a single candle placed in the middle. That was it. It felt thoughtless, cheap, and honestly a bit belittling. For such a meaningful milestone, the gesture came across as an afterthought rather than a celebration. Instead of making a scene in the restaurant, I decided to write this review to warn anyone planning to celebrate a special occasion here. If you're hoping to feel acknowledged and celebrated, you may leave disappointed. This review is not about the food or the ambience. Both were great. It's about how a restaurant makes its guests feel. We can all cook a nice meal at home and open a bottle of wine to celebrate. We choose to dine out for special occasions because we want to feel special, valued, and taken care of. Unfortunately, on a night that meant a lot to us, that feeling was missing. read more

Consistently good. We ate outside this time and enjoyed the warm weather, which made for a great afternoon. We started with the shrimp, beet salad, and deviled eggs. The deviled eggs were good, though not as sweet as I prefer. The beet salad was great, and the shrimp were flavorful. We also ordered the clam chowder, which got mixed reviews at our table, but I really enjoyed it. The chicken sliders were good too, unexpectedly filling, while the chicken wings were unfortunately too salty to eat. Don't skip the green beans, they were delicious! We also had three different deserts and none of them disappointed (I do wish the lemon meringue had a regular pie or shortbread crusts). For drinks, my friend had a nonalcoholic cocktail that was delicious. A couple of us tried the guava cider--it wasn't my favorite, but it was light and refreshing on a hot day. Just know it isn't sweet. The service was excellent, and we all left full and happy. We'll definitely be back. read more

I have visited this place many times and the food and drinks never disappoint. This place is great for a date night or a girls night out. Great atmosphere and great friendly staff. We always order the side of truffle fries and popular Chicken Sliders. All of the food entrees are delicious. Desserts are also a must try. Butterscotch Pudding is one that we always order along with something new to try. read more

What a happy, happy hour! It was pretty empty when we got there at 3pm, but by the time we had our drinks and food it was popping inside. A nice place to come for drinks at the bar with coworkers! The food was delicious (although I think we ordered too much fried food) and the servers were so friendly! Made us feel very welcome. Love a good vibe! read more

This is my go-to restaurant in Danville for a modern dining experience. The steak frites are good- I would probably order Medium next time as Medium Rare was a bit too red for me. I heard the steak frites and short ribs are staples on the menu, so the short ribs will be something I try next time. One critique is the chocolate chip cookies. Nothing special at all... Overall, I would definitely recommend Revel. Make sure to grab a reservation for the weekend, or try your luck and see if you can grab 2 seats at the communal high top. I'd also recommend the bar- a great spot for drinks! Revel is Esin's second restaurant and well deserving of its solid ratings. read more
