Wow. I cannot say enough about how amazing the tasting menu is at Sabio on main. One of my favorite meals I have EVER had. I'm still thinking about it a month later!!! This meal was so unique, fresh, and thoughtful. The scallops were one of my all time favorites. A must must must try!!!

Sabio on Main, a Michelin-recognized contemporary Californian restaurant, is nestled in historic downtown Pleasanton, California. The interior is beautifully decorated, and the restaurant boasts an impressive wine selection along with full bar service. We arrived for dinner and were seated on the outdoor patio. The setting was pleasant and private, situated next to the sidewalk but covered. Guests can choose between an à la carte menu or a Prix-Fixe Dinner. We opted for the 4 Course Prix-Fixe Dinner. For starters, I had the Cauliflower Gruyere Soup, which was delightful with a hint of chili oil. The pasta course featured Fennel Sausage Risotto, which was both flavorful and satisfying. My entrée was the Brandt Beef Prime Flat Iron Steak, cooked to a perfect medium-rare. While it wasn't as tender as I had hoped, it was still enjoyable. For dessert, I had a slice of pie, which was quite good. I also like the mocktail, they have some on the menu. I went home full and still need to get some leftover to go. Overall, it was a delightful dinner experience, enhanced by the excellent service we received. Some issue with the heating as they cannot control the temperature so sometimes it was very warm.

Galentine's dinner to remember! Met for dinner and drinks at 6pm on the Friday before Valentine's day. My friend ordered the Livermore-tini and I got a glass of wine. They have a solid list of bespoke cocktails and great California wine selection. We ordered a number of dishes to share, starting with the pastrami-style pork belly and brussel sprouts salad and splitting the lamb shank risotto for the main course. The salad was fresh and balanced the salty-fat of the pork belly. The risotto was rich and creamy, and the lamb shank prepared so tender it fell apart. Overall, a lovely evening out! I'm sure I'll be returning again soon.

Sabio on Main surprisingly was really good. We loved the French onion meatballs and the salad we ordered. The oysters were just okay -- a little too small for my liking, and the vinaigrette didn't really stand out. But our main dishes definitely made up for it. We both enjoyed our meals, and the cocktails were on point. It's a small restaurant, so I highly recommend making reservations ahead of time.

We stopped by their patio recently to grab a drink. They were super sweet to our dog. My drink - a tequila cocktail, was absolutely delicious. We will definitely be again to try the food and more drinks!

Olives, saffron risotto. A happy man.

Had a great time. We had 2 dishes here that almost brought a tear to my eye. The Wagyu meatballs felt like my Dutch Oma's meatballs that I was just telling my husband earlier today i thought i would never taste again. The very next dish was the saffron risotto that tasted like my husband arabic mothers Mensef. My husband and I travel the world and a meal has never made us emotional. The Chef of this meal deserves a michelin star.

    Tasting menu

It was our first time trying this place, but I wouldn't return. The service was incredibly slow and rude side comments were made by the server. If the 20% gratuity wasn't included with the tasting menu, I would have left far less. We did the 7 course tasting menu, and arrived early for a 5:45 pm seating on Saturday night. The restaurant was not yet crowded or full. The drink menu was very limited, and the wine list was only half a page long. Aside from the single coloring sheet and crayons provided, this place wasn't very kid friendly at all. The food and service is super slow, there were only 2 entree options on the kids menu, and the booster seat is so dangerous that my kid tipped over and fell onto the concrete. They asked if they kids' food should come out as soon as it's ready, and it didn't come out until our 3 course was being served - over an hour past from when we sat down for one order of butter noodles. I don't know why he would ask and promise that if he couldn't deliver. My husband had to leave the restaurant twice to take my kids to a nearby playground because it was so painful to wait through that meal for them. The server made a comment as one dish was sitting there that he'd "have to catch up," and I replied, "No, actually he doesn't because it's been taking awhile for the food to come out." I then asked if they could speed up the final two courses since we had been sitting at the table for 3 hours at that point, and it still took another 20 mins for the food to arrive. We were there so long that the playlist started to repeat songs. I read on the website that two hours should be allowed for the meal, and we ended up being there for over 3.5 hours because the kitchen was so slow. Our first entree didn't even come out until 6:25, and the remainder of the courses took 20 minutes between them clearing the plates from the previous course to bringing out the next one. On top of that, it took awhile for the server to come clear the plates, and even then, we kept having to ask if he'd take our empty bottles from our drinks and glassware after the cups sat empty through two courses. We were never asked if we wanted to order any additional drinks. The seasonal canapés and the stone fruit salad were the best courses of the meal. The canapés included a fried pork belly, an oyster, and a deviled egg. All were lovely. The second course was the king salmon crudo. The fish had a little funk to it like it had sat out too long, the dish was unevenly salted (some pieces had salt and some were missed), the dish lacked acidity or something bright to balance the taste, and there was a rolly poly on my brother in law's plate. He didn't see it until he was almost done with the dish because it was hidden on the underside of a fennel leaf, and when we showed it to the server, he made a very off putting comment saying that'd he'd bring a new one, but the dish had already been eaten. There was no apology, no comped drinks or extra appetizers/dessert, and the worst part is that he insinuated it was our fault the bug was on the plate because we were dining outside on the patio. This place really failed operationally, and the food was mediocre aside from the two standout courses I highlighted above. They need to really figure out the timing of the meal and speed it up. They need to not promise things they can't deliver on. They need to train the wait staff better on how to clear tables quickly and give leeway on what they can do when there's bugs in people's food. They need to hire better because the snide comments were really unnecessary and uncalled for. I wouldn't come back, and I wouldn't even recommend this place to anyone.

Excellent food. We were able to get reservations, but when we arrived there were plenty of seats. Ambiance is nice. There are quite a few wines dotting the back walls. We found out the item my nephew wanted was out of season (the clam chowder), so we'll have to come back. We tried the Caramelized Cauliflower, Brandt Beef Prime Brunch Burger, Tri-Tip Steak Sandwich, and the "Graceland" Belgian Waffle. The waffle was different, hence the subtraction of a star. Overall it was very good. We definitely should try and come back for dinner. There's plenty of street parking and a few lots in the area.

5 stars for the vegan pozole verde. Server was very kinda, but had too many tables to be as attentive as needed. Atmosphere can kinda seem stuffy. So overall, can only rate 4 stars.

Loved my experience at Sabio, it's no surprise they're Michelin-recognized. Their whole philosophy centers on hyperseasonality and sourcing locally. When I spoke with the owner and chef, he explained how every dish is rooted in California's farms, ranches, and fisheries, with the menu constantly evolving to highlight what's freshest. The ambiance is warm and classy, with plenty of seating options. I loveddd the wine wall and bar. Small plates: The pork belly was incredible. Fried fresh, crisp on the outside yet melt-in-your-mouth tender, marbled with just the right amount of fat. (It goes through a two day brine and is slow cooked overnight.) It paired beautifully with sweet melon and a caramel fish sauce. Truly amazing. The tomato & pluot salad felt SO summer and highlighted their seasonality. The tomatoes are from KJ Orchards, with puffed quinoa, edible flowers, and marigolds that brought out the sweetness. Mains: The Brentwood corn agnolotti (inspired by elote) was veryyy creamy and sweet, a fun take on a classic. However, the cedar plank Mt. Lassen trout was my highlight. Smoky, rich but light, with a lovely pink tinge from being raised in pure mountain runoff water. Smoked fresh on cedar planks and served with butter beans and basil pesto. The lion's mane mushroom pozole verde was hearty, tangy, and completely vegan. Mushrooms sourced locally from a boutique mushroom shop in Tracy! Dessert: We ended with the chocolate profiteroles, and the sweet corn & blackberry sundae with cornbread. Loveddd the richness of the chocolate, and the sundae was such a fun mix of seasonal produce (and the cornbread crumble was incredible). Sabio captures the best of seasonal California cooking, and has lovely food and service... very worth it.

Had their tasting menu. It came with 3 seasonal canapés (1 per person). The pork belly canapé might've been my my favorite part of the entire meal. My least favorite was probably the salad. It had bits of bitterness to it which I don't care for but my friend really liked it! Upgraded to the wagyu instead of the prime rib and although it was tasty, my friend said the prime rib was actually more tender so maybe pass on the upgrade? I didn't try her prime rib since I was stuffed. I liked the persimmon apple crumble although I couldn't really taste the persimmon. Their tea selection was a bit skimpy at the end of the night and didn't have any herbal teas. They found some chamomile in the back. Service was great for our party of 9. Ambiance is great for date night. Not too loud so you can actually have a conversation.

    Christine L.

We enjoyed our meal here, but didn't think it was entirely worth the price. However, the ambiance was quite nice and classier than your typical downtown Pleasanton establishment. The pork belly was probably my favorite dish out of the bunch, and the saffron risotto. The pork chop however was not as flavorful as I'd hoped, and for $41 it didn't feel super worthwhile. Also, we had a conversation with a very confident server recommending us wines that all rieslings were sweet, which is decidedly untrue. He was very earnest and friendly, but I definitely lost a bit of trust in the wine recommendation process.

After dining at the "Michelin star restaurant", we had to eat our cake outside.

Happy Hour is on weekdays from 4pm-6pm

Do you waive corkage if you purchase a bottle off of your wine list?

Hi, Martha. Thank you for the question. We no longer waive corkage with purchase.

    What is the corkage fee?

$25 per 750mL bottle, maximum of 3 bottles. $15 per $750mL bottle if the winery is located in the TriValley. Thank you for your question.

Do you have wine pairings available? What is the selections for the Baby Blue Eyed Menu?

Do they have any vegetarian options available? The menu on the website does not seem to call these out,

Do they have any gluten free dishes? Or, are they gluten free friendly?

Absolutely yes. Depending on the menu, at least 6 options and as many as 10. They are very accommodating. And the excellent wine list is completely gluten free!

The experience begins in a small glass-enclosed entryway where you're greeted before the hostess is notified by radio. Moments later, the glass door opens, revealing a beautifully designed speakeasy with an elegant yet inviting atmosphere. The space offers comfortably spaced bar seating, cozy booths, and tables, all surrounded by tasteful décor that perfectly captures the speakeasy era while incorporating subtle honeycomb-inspired touches. The spirit selection is impressive, and the appetizer menu is thoughtfully curated. Their specialty cocktails are creative, balanced, and beautifully presented. We sat at the bar, where our mixologist, Kalika B, was both personable and professional. I always enjoy sitting at the bar when the bartender is willing to share their craft, and Kalika did exactly that. She explained the story behind several of their custom cocktails, the history of some of their spirits, their signature custom ice program, and offered excellent appetizer recommendations. Her knowledge and enthusiasm made the experience even more enjoyable. The entire space was spotless and clearly designed with great attention to detail. It filled up quickly after opening, so I was glad we arrived when we did. Despite the growing crowd, there appeared to be plenty of staff, and the service remained attentive without ever making guests feel rushed. There is only one restroom, but during our visit it was never an issue, and there was no wait. I've been chasing speakeasies for more than 20 years, long before they became as popular as they are today. Whenever I travel, I make it a point to seek out a local speakeasy, so I've experienced quite a few over the years. Honeycomb ranks near the top of my list. It's the perfect size--not too small and not too large--with an outstanding selection of spirits, exceptional craft mocktails, knowledgeable mixologists who truly know their craft, and cocktails tailored to your palate. The atmosphere is elegant yet approachable, and the prices are surprisingly reasonable for the quality of the experience.
