The beer was cold and some spicy drink was delicious and we sampled a good variety of tequila. Cons: It's new. It's still a little awkward. The manager might want to be visible on the floor. In summary, it is definitely worth trying. If you want a full menu, wait for the grand opening. Keep in mind that the restaurant business is rough. Give them a chance. #SupportLocal. read more

Soft opening visit review: Couldn't wait to try a New Mexican restaurant- 4 of us went for dinner on a Sunday night! Everyone was super hungry. The restaurant is having a soft opening. There was no decor on the walls but the setting was fine. Chips and salsa were served right away and they were alright. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. The staff is the big asset for El Dorado. The food was just ok. We paid 110 without alcohol or dessert- just fountain drinks. The portions are good size. The flavor was lacking. I did like the refried beans that were served in a corn chip like bowl. I hope they revise the menu. The location is good, they hired a great staff, and I'm hoping they succeed- they should step up their food game with more flavors. We recently tried this new Mexican restaurant and came away thinking it has a lot of potential. The owners did a nice job remodeling the space. It has a clean, upscale feel, although it could use some artwork on the walls to make it feel a little warmer. We also noticed there was no background music playing, which made the dining room feel a bit quiet. Music would have really helped create a better atmosphere. This is definitely more of an upscale Mexican restaurant, and the prices reflect that. I had read other reviews mentioning huge portions, but we didn't find that to be the case. The serving sizes seemed pretty comparable to other Mexican restaurants. The complimentary salsa and queso were both very good. The quesa birria tacos whcih came with 3 not 2 tacos per the menu were flavorful, although I thought they had too much cilantro for my taste. My burrito was decent but fairly average. The shrimp salad was probably the biggest disappointment. The shrimp were overcooked, and the dressing tasted mostly like plain vinegar. One surprise was that both the rice and beans were quite spicy. We weren't expecting that, so it might be worth mentioning on the menu. We ordered two margaritas. The first was excellent, but the second was much sweeter, so there seemed to be some inconsistency in the preparation. Service was good throughout most of the meal, but when it came time to pay the bill, everyone seemed to go MIA. We waited quite a while before we could finally get our check. Overall, I think this restaurant has a lot of potential. It's nice to have an upscale Mexican restaurant in the area. We'll definitely give it a couple more tries and see if they work the kinks out because I think this could become a really great addition to the community. I would have given 3.5 stars but Yelp does not allow that. Hopefully after next visit I can increase the rating. read more

Update based on second visit review - based on our first experience we brought a couple family members and a friend. We were seated right away in an empty section, then the wait started. After watching other party's seated after us and ordered drinks and food and no one had even stopped by our table. 15-20 mins pass and we flag a busy boy and asked him to send our server. Turns out the hostess sat us in a section with no server, then a couple servers argued who would take the table. Finally one showed up, apologized and took our order, he did a sufficient job. Then the food arrived, it was under whelming husband and I ordered the same items from our first visit. However, this time the mix fajitas were bland, my chicken burrito was okay, the green sauce was cold and dumped on the burrito. Others on the table had issues with their food too. Didn't take any pictures this time around. Asked for the manager and the owner came and was apologetic about our experience. To make up he surprised us with a dessert the house, it was very good. Our check was over 250 for 5 people, I was the only one that had one margarita all others were soft drinks. I may give it another try once they officially open and have worked out the kinks. read more

When you live a good number of years farm to table, in a Mexican household, you grow up on fresh homemade meals that no one can live up to. I have lived in Dublin for 11 years now and do not eat Mexican food here because it's hard to find it non-americanized. I mean there is a small spot I would go to for good Ceviche, but they stopped serving it. Hard to find good flavors throughout. Until, last night. I went to Dublins newest Mexican Tex-Mex restaurant and I was worried. The reviews aren't all amazing. But they do all mostly mention "soft opening", so what are we doin guys! Soft opening is a way for a new establishment to work out the kinks. So leave feedback, not complaints. They have Big beautiful bar, plenty of dining space. Amazing music, not too loud. And very friendly runners, servers and we spoke with the manager twice, I rarely see a management table touch these days. My Feed back: experience starts at the door. Hostess, even though new and some training , biggest notice was, no smiles, quiet and unsure of where they were going. Smile more, you set the tone for how we, the customers, take in our next encounters. Now the food. Flavors, spices, temps, variety- on spot. The menu is not overwhelming, some amazing staple items. Chili verde was bland and so were my wife's shrimp tacos . The beans were okay but they kinda had a soapy taste to them but not so bad that we didn't eat them. The good news is the chili relleno was delicious and worth having again. Place is nicely decorated and servers are nice. read more

Love me my Mexican food so of course we had to check this place out. Service was good and quick. Chips were ok some were fresh some were a bit stale. Loved the salsas very good flavor and hint of spice. I ordered the shrimp fajitas. Flavor was good big portion mostly onions wish there was a mix of the veggies too. My fav part was the hand made corn tortillas! Hard to find a place that has that. Very very good. Good amount of shrimp. Just the texture was a bit off maybe a little over cooked. The pastor in the crunchy taco was flavorful. Enchilada had good amount of meat. Would like to come back to try their drinks and see if there is an expansion of the menu. We decided to give El Dorado a try on a weeknight just a few days after their initial soft opening. The interior was warmly modern and newly renovated although a tad bit plain, perhaps nodding to the final decor yet to come. The staff as welcoming and professionally efficient throughout our visit. We started at a table and were transferred to seating at the bar at the first available opportunity as requested. The bartender was efficient and friendly, checking in on us frequently. We ordered a margaritas and the flautas. The margaritas were spot on, not too sweet. The flautas were perfect, freshly made just perfectly tender soft and crisp. We had a great experience as part of their soft opening and look forward to more great service and delicious food with an expanded menu in the near future! read more

New up and coming restaurant in Dublin! We enjoyed a nice dinner at El Dorado during their soft opening. The restaurant is very big and clean inside. The vibe is a bit more upscale than other Mexican restaurants in the tri-valley, which is a nice differentiator since we don't have many restaurants like this. For a soft opening, they had a limited menu but it still had a ton of different options. I ordered chicken fajitas and my husband ordered carne asada. We both enjoyed our meals, and felt they were good for the price. I had plenty of fajitas left over for lunch the next day. Service was decent, but with more experience I'm sure it will improve. The only highlight here was the Spanish rice--it actually had great flavor, which is surprisingly hard to find. Unfortunately, everything else fell flat. The beans tasted straight out of a can, and the steak was overcooked and aggressively salty--so much so that I couldn't even finish it. To top it off, despite advertising fresh handmade tortillas, what I received were paper-thin, store-bought tortillas that weren't even properly cooked. They felt like they'd just been tossed in a microwave in a stack to warm up, leaving them bland and gummy. Between the lack of quality and misleading menu claims, I won't be coming back. read more

Was really disappointed with the food here. The place itself is really nice. Gives Mexican vibes but still has a modern look to it. It was the soft opening so they weren't busy. We were sat right away and given our menus. Service was great, our server was very attentive and helpful with questions. We ordered the chicken mole enchiladas, taco salad with ground beef, shrimp salad and a wet burrito with steak. None of it was good. The Mole was too sweet and didn't taste fresh made. The rice had some weird taste to it, couldn't put my finger on it but it was a little sour. The shrimp salad was bland and felt more like a protein bowl rather than a nice salad put together. The shrimp wasn't seasoned and didn't look grilled but who knows. The taco salad was a let down. The beef tasted sour and was unappetizing. The taco bowl was stuffed with a lot of filler cabbage and barely any lettuce. The wet burrito was also bland and salty at the same time which doesn't make sense but that's how it tasted. The only saving grace were my refried beans. They were actually really good. I don't know sometimes I feel like maybe I'm too harsh. If it was just one person who didn't enjoy their food I'd have a different opinion because I know sometimes things are just off but when it's all four people that had issues with their food, I know it's not just me being overly critical. Soft Opening Menu 2 days after opening. Solid food, great presentation (on some dishes) and fast service. 5 stars are given especially since this is a new restaurant going through some opening pains. Ordered the 2 item combo (tamal and enchilada) and my daughter ordered the quesabirria tacos. Presentation on the tacos was excellent, presentation on the combo was just average. Flavor or both dishes were spot on. I also like that they have a creamy salsa with the chips so I enjoyed the whole dinner there. This is located in the old Black Angus restaurant next to Best Buy. We were excited to try a new modern Mexican spot in Dublin and overall had a mixed experience.We started with the standard chips and salsas (both green and red). The salsas were decent but nothing special, while the chips were unfortunately stale. The Calamari appetizer ($17.99) was nicely prepared and cooked well, but we felt it was overpriced for the portion size and probably wouldn't order it again.For our mains, my wife ordered the beef tostada with rice and beans on the side. She really enjoyed the tostada and said the rice was good, but the beans were quite watery. I went with the Mexican Salad with grilled chicken. The chicken was tasty and well-seasoned, and I appreciated the other fresh vegetables included. However, the lettuce pieces were far too large (clearly not chopped properly), and the salad came with very little dressing. It took quite a while to flag down our waiter for more dressing.Service was the biggest issue this visit. It was very slow overall, our drinks took a long time to arrive, and we had to remind the waiter multiple times. Given that they've only been open a few weeks, I understand they're still working through some growing pains and a learning curve.We'll definitely give them another try in about a month to see how things have improved. There's clear potential here, especially with some of the dishes we enjoyed, but several areas (kitchen execution on basics, portion/pricing balance, and service flow) need attention, particularly in a competitive market like Dublin.Would I return? I ordered the enchiladas Souza and not only did they list a wide range of meat options, when I said chicken they said grilled or shredded? I love the added flavor of grilled meats and chose that. It was served with fresh avocado slices on top. Their rice and beans were outstanding. Especially the refried beans. They tasted fresh and flavorful - had to be made on site. Hubby ordered a burrito and it was fabulous too. Their margaritas fresh and flavorful and the service was great. They do need to add a little to their decor but the food was so so good! Only took pic of one dish but we ordered mixed fajitas, combo plate with shredded beef taco and an enchilada, and also had the carne asada. Especially liked the shredded beef, it was tasty and tender. Thought the mixed fajitas would come with each meat in three separate rows but it was actually all 3 meats mixed together like a stir fry but it tasted really good. The flour tortillas didn't seem like they were house-made but the corn tortillas were. Also felt like they could have used a little salt. Upon reading reviews of the recent opening, my girlfriend and I decided to try for lunch today. We had to wait a moment or two before the hostess came up and greeted us. She sat us down and our waiter checked in on us immediately. After ordering our drinks, he brought out the chips and salsa and brought additional variations of salsas to try. My girlfriend loves her salsa and compared their red salsa, to the salsa at Casa Orosco. She enjoyed it so much, we got two extra sides of the red salsa. We ordered our entrées which came out within a very reasonable amount of time and they were piping hot. My girlfriend ordered the Al Pastor tacos, which she thoroughly enjoyed. The plate came with a grilled onion bulb, large green pepper, a small block of Cojita cheese, plus additional garnishments, rice, and beans. I ordered from the build your own combo and had two grilled chicken, enchiladas, rice, and pinto beans. The food was good. The service was very good, and the staff attended to our needs. Whether it was our assigned winner or other staff, they checked in on us during our meal. I understand they are still operating under a soft opening. As people mentioned, the place is very clean and simple. It appears to be the same booths and tables from when the restaurant was Black Angus. I'm sure as time rolls out, they personalize the space for themselves. The website for the restaurant is a little funky in that it's hard to read the menu and there are no operating hours listed. So my wife and I went in this afternoon to try the menu, we understood it was a soft opening. When we arrived, nobody at the front desk, we stood there for about 10 minutes. Another person came up behind us, and they stood with us. Finally, the person behind us asked if we could get some help. Somebody finally came and seated us. We got some chips and salsa fairly quickly, but then the server just kept passing us by going back to the same table. That kept asking questions. He kept going over to the manager at the bar and then he would return to answer questions. This went on for at least 12 minutes.. Never acknowledge us and never said he was coming back. after sitting there for a few more minutes we decided to leave. the thing that was frustrating was the manager sitting at the bar eating and nobody's helping anybody at the tables. You would think people would pitch in on a soft opening? Needless to say we didn't get anything to eat. We didn't try the food , sitting around for 20 to 25 minutes waiting just to put an order in seems pretty unreasonable. And there was hardly anybody in the restaurant which was really frustrating. My wife and I were excited to try a new Mexican restaurant in the area. We came away very disappointed. We bought ordered cheese enchiladas. I had the Suizas and she had the Mole. We were told the usual "careful, the plates are hot". The only problem was the cheese wasn't even close to melted. It looked like a blend that came from a bag. We told our waitress and she ordered us new plates. The second ones were colder than the first. No apologies, no adjustments. The manager never came by to see how we liked our food as he did to all the tables around us. We won't be back. read more

Amazing and authentic food!! 5 stars for this place. First of all, the place itself is very clean and appealing. Every employee that we talked to was so kind and welcoming. This Mexican restaurant is open with a soft launch. We were so excited that this long awaited restaurant is open. We saw a post on Nextdoor that it was open & food was good. The interior is new & simple with terracotta colored walls. There were 2 seating areas one by the bar & other quieter side on the right. We choose the bar area since it was lively with people watching World Cup. We ordered the classic margarita & palomrita for drinks, Both were great well balanced & not too sweet. They gave us complimentary chips & two salsa which were very good, one hot & one mild. Nice thin chips as well. I ordered a crispy taco with rice & beans. My husband ordered cheese enchiladas with rice & beans. The cheese enchiladas were not on the menu, but they made it for us which was very nice. We really enjoyed the enchiladas, sauce was very tasty & rice & beans were good too. My taco was good, but I think I would try something else next time. I can't wait to go back & try more new things. The service was excellent as well, with a very friendly staff from start to finish. They may need a little more work on the decor cause it looks a bit plain, but that's minor. We walked in saw a happy hour sign so will definitely be back for that & the bar is huge & lively. Definitely give them a try. It's gonna be a regular spot for me. My family and I had dinner on Friday at El Dorado and we all were very happy and impressed with the food and service of this new restaurant in Dublin. Kudos to Carlos B. He treated us like family and the food was very good and in abundance! I have been all over the tri-valley eating and testing restaurants for years and this place deserves a spot in our list for repeats! Hope and wish the best of luck to the restaurant. I know that this visit was done during the soft opening and try out; so the only thing I would have told the chef that the burrito was dried and too much rice but I could not eat it there because I was stuffed with the appetizers, the chips and salsa and the best chicken Tortilla soup ever had. We tried El Dorado after reading a news article. They are noting this is a Soft Opening and have paper menus and what I would guess is limited staff. That being said staff was friendly, service was prompt, and food was very good. The table side guacamole, fajitas, and quesa birra tacos were all excellent! We did go on the early side of the evening (5:30pm) and heard them say the kitchen was getting backed up as it got later to other tables who were questioning when their meals would arrive. Decor and ambiance is super minimal but I'm sure they will add to as time goes on. We will definitely go again after the Grand Opening! read more

Just got out of here. Service was great, but food was a big miss . They put broccoli and cauliflower in burrito (not sure if it was even fully cooked, not that it matters). Please do proper burrito with onions peppers etc (American style), not sure what's the idea behind broccoli and cauliflower unless our goal is to get broccolis in to kids somehow. Really disappointing. The bartenders don't bus the bar and purposely avoid eye contact. I did manage to get one of their attentions and asked if someone was still sitting in that bar seat - she said she was not sure - even though it was obvious the empty plates and glassses were sitting for a LONG time.
