We moved away from Livermore years ago but still miss it, so we like to stop to eat in downtown whenever we're up here. It's so exciting to see new restaurants pop up, and this place was a fun impromptu dinner on Sunday. Initially we'd wanted to try their burger and mussels, but the burger wasn't available yet and they were out of mussels for the weekend. We ended up ordering the oysters, which was perfectly briny the way we like. The steak tartare was also really tasty; we could taste the mustard (dijon?) in the tartare and liked that the bread was nicely toasted and peppered. Since they didn't have the entrees we originally wanted I decided to try the duck leg confit and my husband ordered the trout. The duck with the beans was really hearty, and the skin was nicely crisped. I can see this being a really comforting meal during the colder months. If I had more stomach room I would have probably also ordered a salad, for something a little green and acidic to go with it. HOWEVER my favorite thing was probably the trout, which wasn't even my own dish! I stole some of it. Truly I was surprised by how wonderful it was, since I grew up eating a lot of fish and I never really crave it or order it when out. The skin was deliciously buttery and crispy and the fish itself was moist and tender. And the almond slivers on top gave it a yummy nutty flavor. It was a very elegant and well-executed dish. The chef is locked IN. Our servers were also really friendly, I can't wait to come back and try the rest of their menu! The only feedback I really have is that because the sofa seats are kind of deep, some pillows would make it extra comfy. And I'm hoping that aside from the staples like the burger and steak, they switch things up each season or so because I want to keep coming back! read more

Le Nocturne opened where Syndicate/The Last Word used to be. Patio seating is gone which is a bummer but it's still the same kind of cozy restaurant/cocktail bar. It was medium-full when we arrived at 8:45 and the servers let us know that the full menu would change to a late night menu at 9 and to order entrees now if we wanted them. We were just here for drinks and a snack tho. Rose Soleil: 4/5, a bit sweet for my taste but a beautiful drink Nocturne 75: 5/5 lemony and tasty a sip of my friend's Hugo Spritz also 5/5 Pomme Frites: 4.5/5 quite small portions but super tasty and freshly fried. We loved the salty seasoning the most They turned the lights down around 9 and it was packed by the time we left around 10. They cranked up the music and crowds + loud music was not the vibe of our night so we headed out soon after. Would come back again but maybe just pre-late-night. While strolling through downtown Livermore looking for a lounge, we were approached by Luis, who recommended a new French-inspired restaurant and bar. We're so glad we took his recommendation! This was only their second day of their soft opening, but you would never know it. From the moment we walked in, the staff and chefs greeted us with warm smiles and made us feel genuinely welcome. The atmosphere was intimate, elegant, and inviting. Luis took great care of us and didn't disappoint. He even welcomed us with a complimentary shot of limoncello, which was a thoughtful touch and a wonderful introduction to this beautiful restaurant. We started with the oysters, which were incredibly fresh and perfectly complemented by the bright, acidic mignonette sauce. They were an excellent appetizer and an absolute must-try. We also ordered the Pommes Purée, which was recommended to us, and we're so glad we listened. If you're a fan of mashed potatoes, these are pure perfection--rich, silky, and incredibly flavorful. The food was excellent, but what truly stood out was the hospitality. Everyone made us feel like valued guests, and that level of service is hard to find. We will definitely be back and highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a memorable dining experience in downtown Livermore. read more

I was excited when I saw a new French resto opened up in town. I looove French food! My honest review is that everything was very mid. The cocktails were a bit bland but I kind of enjoyed the fact they weren't too sugary like other places. The oysters were fresh and good, and the first batch of fries we got were crispy and delicious but the second batch was a little soft, so the consistency wasn't quite there. The green beans were undercooked. The mushrooms were nicely cooked but had zero seasoning - I'm pretty sure they forgot to add salt. The duck confit was not worth ordering imo... it was dry and I really didn't like the beans on the bottom... I've never had duck confit like that before. The royale cheese (cheeseburger) was okay, and the mussels were very small and shrunken from slightly overcooking. The soup from the mussels was good for dipping the fries... but could definitely improve. Fortunately the people were lovely - our server and I think the manager or owner was very friendly. The vibes are good - esp as a cocktail bar more than a restaurant - the tables were too small and it was a bit too dark in there for me. I wish the food was undeniably excellent because I would go all the time! But honestly for these prices, the food needs to be a lot better. read more

We are SO happy to finally have a place like this in Livermore! This new French spot is exactly what the town needed, with delicious food, a beautiful atmosphere, and genuinely wonderful service. Everything we ordered was fantastic, but the steak tartare, steak frites, and coq au vin were the standouts for us. The food felt elevated and special without being stuffy, and every dish was thoughtfully done. What really made the experience was the service. Everyone was incredibly warm, attentive, and welcoming, and you could tell they genuinely cared about making sure we had a great experience. We're already looking forward to coming back. Food is really delicious! Drinks and service are also good. I hope they expand their dessert menu - as of right now they only offer creme brulee, and I'm more of a chocolate girl. (Avoid sitting at the high top tables. They are very uncomfortable and awkward and too tall or the chairs are too short. If I'm paying fine dining prices I want to sit at a comfortable table with a chair w a back. ) read more

Had dinner yesterday with a large group of people. Here are my thoughts: 1. Food is decent. A few options still not available but will be added soon. My steak should be hot but was lukewarm at best. 2. Appetizers are generally good. We tried almost everything on the menu and no complaints. 3. Dress code: I searched dress code requirement and Yelp said business casual so we all dressed up. However, the place is not anywhere near business casual either by decor, server dress code or ambience. It is super casual which is fine but restaurant owner needs to correct Yelp for misleading customers. 4. The menu even offers several caviar options which is excellent but you'd expect caviar to be served in more fine dining environment. The decor, the ambience and the server dress code are not matching with what you expect to see in a restaurant serving Osetra caviar. Since the restaurant is relative new, it certainly can up its game to match its food. 5. Biggest complaint: pls get some new chairs! The chairs we sat on only 2 had cushions. The other 6 including the one I sat on were like rocks. It's like giving me a butt workout for 2 hours and short of getting hemorrhoids. read more

We've always passed by this restaurant because we just didn't know a lot about it, but today we dropped in for our six year anniversary and were so happy with our experience! *Kevin*? (The hostess - white button up surfer blonde hair super cool), gave us a complimentary glass of champagne while explaining the menu and was super personable (which we appreciated so much because we were celebrating our anniversary on a whim), just on that, we decided to stay to try the food. The food was absolutely beautiful and flavorful, and the servers, bartenders and ambience were a 10/10. You can tell everyone here works in unison and cares about their job and doesn't treat it just like " a place they work." Also, the bartender in pink with cute little pink bows was so cute! Loved it here and would 100% recommend! shout out to the host for convincing us to stay and giving us a memorable start to our anniversary celebration. read more

The greeting and attention from the staff was of the highest yet friendly level. The Escargot was the best ever ( including Paris) very tasty, not smothered in garlic. The Steak Frites, excellent, the best sear ever and the fries were seasoned to make them special. The coq Au van was very tender and tasty. After I moved into the Pleasanton /Livermore area from Berkeley some years ago, I admit I was initially a snob about the local food and drink scene, and continued to make special trips back for when I wanted to treat myself and loved ones. Lately, however, there has been a noticeable increase (is it too early to call it a surge?) in excellent, creative food outlets nearby, and Le Nocturne is undoubtedly part of this. The ambience is cozy and elegant, a combination not easy to pull off, and the dishes were memorable enough to order again on our certain return: the coq au vin (can you say "French comfort food?), the trout amandine (a well-executed fish plate for a change!), and the salad Lyonnaise (a distinctively tasty salad.) From now on, I'll be doing my eating and drinking near home. read more

Not sure how they have a five star review. We were a party of four. Our bill was almost $400. I went home and had a snack. So the good. Everyone agreed the cocktails were good. We had six cocktails total for or party of four. I know that ups the cost of the bill. The $12 appetizer of mushrooms was a very sad joke. Come on. $12 for some chopped mixed mushrooms in a bowl the size I use prepping a meal. Terrible presentation. The mussels were okay. The duck was okay. The beans and lardon were very good. The little duck leg was very difficult to get any meat off of. I got about four bites. Brought it home so my husband could pick it up and eat it. He said it was good. The crème brûlée was very good. Overall it was okay. It was not almost $400 for a party of four okay. I realize they are very new but they need to up their game. Yes I know costs have gone up. So if I'm going to spend that kind of money it should be spectacular. It was not. read more
