Today's lunch was nice. The service was fantastic as always. We stopped on for lunch on the way to Monterey and I am happy we came in. I had the crispy chicken sandwich with fries. It was pretty good. The chicken was tender and flavorful. The fries were good as well. The sandwich was a good portion for lunch I left satisfied but not stuffed. The server was also very kind and checked on us several time. She even brought us two small brownie like chocolate desserts. read more

We had a wonderful experience at Zephyrs on Wednesday night for Wine Wednesday. The restaurant was fairly busy, but the service was still excellent and everything ran smoothly. We noticed a bottle of wine advertised on the website that wasn't listed on the printed menu, but they graciously honored the advertised price for us, which we really appreciated. Our food was exceptional and came out quickly. Every dish was delicious, and the quality exceeded our expectations. Our waitress was incredibly friendly and helpful. She made great recommendations, checked in with us throughout the meal, and even surprised me by comping my coffee since I'm a new mom and definitely appreciated the extra caffeine! Unfortunately, we didn't catch her name, but her service truly stood out. The manager, Erik, also came by and spent quite a bit of time chatting with us. He was personable, welcoming, and genuinely seemed to care about our experience. His hospitality made the evening even more enjoyable. I ordered medium rare ribeye steak and it came cooked medium. Steak was thin, small and tough, cost was $55. The potatoes and vegetables were bland. My wife ordered the swordfish and it was not seasoned and came with the mashed potatoes and the same vegetables as the ribeye. I have enjoyed Zephyr for years. I was very excited when they reopened after the fire. Met my friend who has always enjoyed the happy hour today at 3:45 on Wine Wednesday. Tight space and the manager and servers were literally rubbing up against our table[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. We ordered wine and waited for quite awhile to get it. No ice bucket just a bottle in the middle of the table. We ordered and waited for about 80 minutes. Water service came and not only did she give me water in my glass... she poured it down my arm and all over the table lol. Didn't even notice. Finally I asked if someone could check our order. We finally got our order and quickly ate and left. This is our third time to try Zephyr again and sadly it will probably be my last. read more

I'm so disappointed in my lunch today. Had my son swing by and pick up my absolute favorite soup butternut squash. I haven't been since they reopened so I've been craving this soup for about a year. First the bowl wasn't even close to being full, see photo included. I guess they no longer include the tomato/pico de gallo for the soup, no biggie the menu reflects the change. There was a dollop of sour cream, yet no cashews. Also they must have changed the actual soup recipe because it's not the same as before, just kinda bland the amount of possibly curry is was more than before. My exceptional boyfriend Dakota is a server at Zephyr; and he often tells me about how great the food is, so we decided to grab some brunch. Growing up, my family frequently dined at Smith's Landing in Antioch, so it's quite exciting to learn they have a chain (: All of the food is delicious and cooked to perfection; very light and not greasy at all, with beautiful presentation. The ambiance is very elegant and comfortable, and our server Kristen was delightful; timely, and very kind. Dropped into Zephyr on a random Monday I had off--turns out, it was Martini Monday, which felt like the universe was on my side. The martini was really good (I could've easily gone for another), and the light dinner I paired with it hit the spot. Relaxed, easygoing vibe--exactly what I was hoping for. Haley is an outstanding server! Seating took a few minutes, nothing crazy. We were grreeted by the waitress, Haley. She made us feel very welcome and quickly brought us our libations and water. She reccomended the poke tuna appetizer. The tuna was SO fresh. It had good flavor. It came with some sort of crsipy won ton chip. Beyond/10. It's our 1st time back since the fire closed the restaurant down. The staff were friendly & attentive. We got the tuna appetizer, as we used to enjoy the previous one (pre-fire recipe with noodles). It's a different interpretation for sure, but still flavorful. The main dishes were good. I wish the sole could be elevated with more capers and a lemon wine reduction rather than butter. It was a little too bland. Needed acid. The veggies were fresh, but pretty basic--steamed with no decipherable seasoning. Came to Zephyr's Grill & Bar for a baby shower luncheon - there's a back room for private parties, very nice & tucked away. Our server was on it, had champagne & water poured for everyone to start, along with bread & butter being out on the table. There was a small menu offering soup or salad, followed by several mains: fish sole, brisket, raviolis & a chicken dish. I love it when wait staff knows the menu & can suggest what they would prefer, server suggested I go with the brisket & it was very nicely done, fell apart using just a fork & scrumptious. Everyone was happy with their pics. Overall the service was excellent, the food was solid, plenty of drink options. In ending, if you're looking for a place to hold a special event this could be the ticket! We'll be back to try their regular menu soon. read more

Okay, it's been a few years (I guess) since I wrote a review and I'm behind. If you're in Livermore (for whatever reason) or a local who hasn't tried Zephyr (probably unlikely), this restaurant is a most go place to be. Great bar, fantastic wine list, excellent food and super service. I don't think we've had a bad meal - ever - at Zephyr. Let me preface by saying we mostly go lunch vs. dinner...no reason why since their dinner menu rocks. So, what to pick...well, this is an update so here goes.... Appies - Coconut Shrimp, Seared Ahi Tuna, Tenderloin Tips Diablo- you cannot go wrong. We haven't had all the appies since we tend to gravitate to these choice picks. BTW, they always nail the seared Ahi. It's easy to get that wrong. Also, you can request to add mushrooms to the Tenderloin Tips Diablo (note to Chef) - awesome addition. Mains / Stuff - Baby Back Beer Ribs - They should bottle that BBQ sauce. Zephyr Burger - Yum tasty! Alaskan Salmon - Perfect Cajun Shrimp Penne Pasta - Perfect blend of spice and nice. We've scratched the surface on the menu here. You cannot go wrong at Zephyr. read more

It had been awhile since I had lunch here. We arrived around 3:30pm and it was quiet and empty. I was unaware that they have a Happy Hour Menu until 6pm (even on a Sat). The entrees we ordered were fairly priced, even wine and a few cocktails. I thoroughly enjoyed the pear salad which had a delicious blend of greens, sliced pears (soft), crumbled pecans and bleu cheese. My fish slider sandwich had a nice crunch to it. Fresh with a good amount of slaw. The chocolate cake was delicious! Dense and very chocolatey with a creamy frosting. Our waitress was attentive enough and kept checking on us throughout our meal. Much appreciated. The interior of this place is always nice and I love sitting by the big windows. I choose this place as my fave place to dine in downtown Livermore. Dislike how no one refill our water until I asked when I was about to leave. It took more than 25 minutes to get our meal. We got there at 5:00 and it was not busy. Once the meals came, 3 of us were very disappointed. I had prime rib French dip, the meat was overcooked and it was reheated, we had to ask for water refills and for utensil. One friend had the pork chop, she could hardly cut it with the knife, very tough, another had the beef stroganoff which lacked any flavor. The only acceptable meal was the fish. My friend and I ended up at Zephyr after Ann from Wente Vineyards recommeded the restaurant b/c they offer $0 corkage fee for up to two bottles of wine purchased from a Livermore Valley winery. This is a great offer if you have that bottle of wine or two you've been wanting to open drink and not cook for the night. It was Saturday eveningpm around 6:30 and the place was full (including the bar) and buzzing with activity. Note, there are a couple of TVs at the bar in case you want to catch the game. The ambiance is welcoming and there were people of all ages dining there; it appears to be a good place for families and/or multi-generational groups. I ordered the short ribs and my friend ordered the sole filets. The portions were large and we both took half of our meal home. The food is well prepared and good; nothing extraordinary but not bad. We started with the crab appetizer and that was also a good portion size for two people to share, but it was lacking a little flavor- in my opinion it needed a little more salt and maybe I should have asked for hot sauce. The crab wasn't the sweet variety which is what I was expecting. Again, not extraordinary but not bad and very nicely presented. Our waitress was very friendly and accomodating as was the bartender; both ladies took great care of us. This is a good place for nice meal and friendly environment. read more

Grabbed my sister yesterday and was looking online for somewhere to have a bite to eat. The happy hour menu at Zephyr looked fabulous, so on we went for our first time. We were seated promptly and advised the hostess we were excited for happy hour. You don't have to sit at the bar to enjoy happy hour, so Betsy sat us at a table next to the window. It was nice and sunny outside, perfect spot for us. The restaurant has a large beauitful bar and woodwork. Katelyn took care of us, excellent customer service. She was available when we needed her and helpful in deciding on a cocktail. They do have a happy hour menu, but their drinks custom cocktails are also discounted for happy hour. We ordered ribs, burger sliders, calamari steak and french fries to go with our fabulous Zephyrtinis. The ribs were moist and fell off the bone and we liked the bbq sauce. The fries had great seasoning. The calamari steak was nice and thick, good flavor and tasted great with a lemon squeeze! Katelyn also offered bread but with the happy hour selections, we declined (I usually do not decline carbs!) When Katelyn brought our bill, she also brought us 2 bite mint brownies complimentary. I was so hopeful to dine here for Father's Day but left grossly disappointed. We were seated. It took over 30 minutes to get waters. Order placed with drinks appetizers and entree. Asked for bread. Drinks delivered 15 minutes after. Asked for bread again. Attempt by staff to deliver entrees. Told them we hadn't even gotten appetizers. They took the entrees back. 25 minutes later, appetizers delivered. Bread then delivered (1 hour 10 minutes after being seated). Entrees delivers around 1 hour 30 minutes. Steaks were tough, all cooked incorrectly. Asked for steak knives. Another 10 minutes before they were delivered. Waited 25 minutes for a glass of wine while this was all going on. Once check was received, waitress spilt the glass of water on my husband. The only reason this place gets 2 stars was because the apps were good.... Turns out it wasn't even the right glass of wine that was delivered. read more

My Dad recommended we meet for happy hour and dinner at Zephyr Grill & Bar which is close to his home. We came on a weekday and took advantage of their happy hour that runs from 3:00-6:00 p.m. Wednesdays-Fridays (plus weekends). All in all, we had a fun experience but more so on the social aspect versus the food. The happy hour menu offers typical new American dishes such as salads, and appetizers plus adult beverages. I ordered the Grilled Pear Salad with No Blue Cheese. The salad was good but not out of this world--fresh, and plentiful, a crunch from the nuts, and a warm sweet bite from the pears. My companion and Dad ordered Crispy Fish Slider and Burger Slider off the happy hour menu, plus a Seafood Chowder. Dad enjoyed his soup saying it was hearty and rich and loved his burger. My companion said the fish sliders were okay but more filling than the fish. The dinner menu did look expansive with specialties, appetizers, pasta, entrees, and more. I'd come back for happy hour for the deals but not dinner. You can tell this is a go-to spot for an older crowd with most folks coming after work. It's loud, spacious, and a great spot for families or bigger groups with an extended bar. We found service to be as it should be, simple, efficient, and getting the job done. If you're in the mood for happy hour or New American cuisine you can find Zephyr Grill & Bar in the heart of downtown Livermore. The restaurant is off First Street with street parking for free out front.
