    French Dip

Pretty big multi-tap beer hall in the eastern edge of the Bay Area. In a big suburban retail complex so easy parking and easy to find. Space inside seems like 2 main areas with a wall separating so you can't really see into each other. The bar area has mostly communal bench seating and is generally louder, with also more TVs. The dining room has more table seating and is more mellow but very family oriented. On a weekend lunch there were lots of kids in little league gear. Menu is smaller than what I saw online. Mostly sandwiches/burgers, an app section and some salads. No significant entree plates. I thought we would get a supplemental brunch menu cuz it was noon on a Sunday, but nope just the main short menu. I ordered a Bloody Mary as my first drink as I saw they had a full bar and what screams lazy weekend lunch/brunch more than that. Denied, no bloody mary's at noon on a beautiful summer day. I was a bit flabberghasted and amusingly disappointed. They said they make their own bloody mary mix and had run out...by noon...on a weekend. Just couldn't grasp the complacency of the event. Lol Buffalo Wings ($15/3.5*) A commercial breaded wing, both flats and fat drummies. They only give 8 or so and you can pick from about 4-5 flavors. The buffalo sauce was standard, thicker than I like but exploded in that salty and spicy buffalo flavor. Their blue cheese dressing is pretty good, that I ordered a salad later with the same dressing. French Dip ($19/3.5*) Menu says smoked tri-tip but I didn't get any of that. Just seems like roast tri-tip that had been griddled on a flat top so it was very well done but also with crisp edges, which isn't an entirely bad thing. Cheese is melted in but not excessively gooey. French roll is of quality (thank goodness!) and absorbed into the side of au jus beautifully. Side salad sub an extra $3 or so and tasted great with blue cheese mixed in. I tried some truffled fries from my besties plate, and they use those textured/battered fries that have a unique crispness on the exterior. The truffle flavor must be a commercial spice blend as it is very salty but tasted just like Kettle brand's Truffle chips. I heard this is going mainstream in this area, but first time I had one at a restaurant. Irish Cofffee ($12/4*) This was solid. Their cream topping is very thick, so not sure how natural it is. It didn't taste artificial, but I do know that real whipped cream isn't that dense. I had my Livermore resident friends meet me here for a get-together as I saw it on my search. They are very family friendly, so they fit in perfectly. I tried it and may be a one and done, but I also wouldn't object to it if someone suggested this for a meet up. Didn't love it but also didn't hate it. I wanna give em 3 stars for the Bloody Mary mishap, but I'll round up for the good and efficient service. They let us lounge around for a few hours, without being antsy or pushy. Cheers!

    Mushroom Swiss Burger

From the outside, this place can be mistaken for a daycare or some children's fun place by the way the store sign looks; it's slightly playful and doesn't match the look of a micro brewery/bar restaurant. They serve basic all American type cuisine: Burgers, finger bites, sports bar appetizers, etc. I ordered a mushroom Swiss burger which was $22!! This was priced too high for a pretty small burger I thought. The meat quality is just ok too; nothing special. Their fries tasted like Burger King! They taste exactly the same. The poke nachos for $22 were just ok as well. I personally thought there wasn't enough sauce around the fried wonton chips, leaving a handful dry. The pieces of ahi tuna are pretty small which isn't too bad except that the quantity is tiny. Their truffle fries were ok but the powder mix was a bit too salty. The service is pretty solid. Employees were checking on guests frequently and making sure ordered were taken and served on time. There's another tap room next to the main dining area which is a great addition for the beer drinkers. Overall, this place is ok. The food isn't that good but I know the drinking scene would be pretty awesome! Hop deVine is a local icon in the neighborhood and I really hope more people come and try it out. It's a whole different space inside.

    Old fashioned

I was in The area for work and stopped in for pretzel bites, ahi poke salad, and an Old Fashioned, everything was on point with super fresh ingredients! Staff was friendly and got us served fast. Tons of space for groups and comfy seating too. If I'm in the area again, I Will definitely be back! The food was so good I forgot to take a pick of the food.

Hop DeVine is one of those places that is out of sight, out of mind. It is located off Vaso Road in the northeast side of Livermore. Although it is not a brewery, it definitely has that type of vibe. There are two sides to the inside that are separated by a wall. There is plenty of seating for small and large groups. There is some seating outside also. One side has a full bar and the other side has a large seating area. Both sides have several tv's which are sure to have one of your favorite sports teams playing. The restaurant has a subtly nod to law enforcement with a blue line flag and law enforcement patches from several agencies displayed on the wall. Our waitress greeted us shortly after being seated. There were eleven of us in our group. She did a great job hussling around for such a large group. I ordered the Asian Chicken Wrap with fries. When I initially saw the portion size, I was concerned. However, I felt the wrap with fries was the perfect amount. It was delicious and not overfilling. The crispy chicken on the inside was tender and had a nice crunch. The fries also had a nice crunch and taste. We had a really good experience here with some tasty food and a fun vibe. If I have one negative thing to say about this place, it's the menu pricing. I felt that $28 for the wrap, fries and a soft drink was pretty steep compared to other options.

First of all we love Hop Devine. The food, drinks and most of the food is great. With that being said I tried the grilled cheese the last two visits. The first time the bread was barely toasted/grilled...looked like plain white bread. It was sent back to the kitchen where it was properly cooked and it was delicious. The second time I ordered it I told our nice server I'd like it heavily grilled and she made a note to the kitchen. This time it was kinda toasted/grilled but it was tasteless. Come on Hop Devine I hope the kitchen can figure out how to make a grilled cheese.

First time here for lunch with my sister. The ambience is very family friendly Sports Bar. Restaurant divided into 2 sections, one for customers who want to enjoy a more quiet experience with lots of individual tables. The other side is Sports bar heaven. Open seating on large picnic tables TVs abound with a great view no matter where you sit. Saw lots of families enjoying Sunday football. Service was great and right on top of getting menus, silverware, etc ! Big menu with breakfast, brunch and full lunch available. Huge selection of on tap Beers, full bar. We ordered one of the scrambles and it was enough to take home left overs for next day. Delish!

    Avocado Chicken Caesar Salad

I ordered the Brussels Sprouts, the Avocado Chicken Caesar Salad, and the Lychee Peachy cocktail and everything was absolutely delicious! The salad was especially wonderful, I finished the entire plate. I also tried a few of my friend's French fries and they were tasty and had a nice crunch. The Lychee Peachy cocktail was so good, I had to order a second one. Our server, Tori (hope I'm spelling that right!), was incredibly sweet, fun, and accommodating. She gave us great recommendations and really made the experience even better. We sat outside on a beautiful sunny day, which made everything even more enjoyable. Highly recommend!

Driven by many times. Heard former co-workers talk about Hop DeVine. Finally made a lunch date with SO. Lots of parking since it's in a strip mall on Vasco Rd. We arrived about 2PM, not busy & immediately seated. They are 2 seating areas, a "bar" area & a "dining" area. The "bar" area has large picnic/family style seating while the "dining" area has booth & tables. Regardless of which area you select, it's very family friendly. There's a great family & friend vibe! There are multiple TVs. Some with the many tap offerings & others with sports broadcasts. The menu is awesome! Something for everyone! The salad selections are awesome! A menu with these offerings make decisions difficult! I think we needed 10 minute to decide! For the starters we went with the Calamari & the Brussels sprouts. The starters were out first in about 10 minutes. The serving size of the Calamari was small IMHO for the price. The Brussels sprouts was huge! The Calamari unfortunately was 1-2 minutes shy of being done. The sriracha aioli was more aioli than sriracha which is fine. I like spicy, but I know that not every doesn't like spicy. It was tasty. Would not order again because of the serving price & price. The Brussels spouts, OMG! Roasted, tasty awesomeness! Enough for 4-5 people. If you don't like Brussels sprouts, you haven't tried these! We will order again. I ordered the fish & chips, SO ordered the Poke salad. The fish & chips are amazing! The batter is thin & chrispy! Perfectly cooked! Not a tartar sauce fan, but it was tasty. With lemon, salt, and malt vinegar, it rocked! I had a bite, a couple bites, of the Poke salad. Wow! Great flavors! Winner Winner Poke dinner. Great, well-balanced flavors. We were looking at the menu trying to decide what we would try on our next visit! If this is in your area or if you are nearby, check it out!

My husband has been here many times as he works nearby. I was able to finally come check it out when we met up with some of his co workers for a small retirement party. Staff did an amazing job taking care of multiple orders/tickets and people showing up at different times. We stopped here again today on our way home from an event. The restaurant is unassuming and clean. Staff are helpful and hardworking. There is a nice selection of drinks and a huge selection of beer. If you have a favorite and don't see it on the menu you can always ask your server. They may have it in cans. I can't say much for the food cause I've only gotten the poke nachos and the onion rings. Both are done exquisitely. Go , now! Get the nachos :) you won't be disappointed.

The food here is consistently good, and they serve some of the best fries around. The atmosphere is fun, and our service was excellent -- our waitress was attentive and checked on us frequently. Unfortunately, on this visit, our food took quite a while to come out, and when it did, it was burnt. To her credit, our waitress handled it quickly and professionally. She had the kitchen remake the entire order and even offered to let us keep the original dishes (we didn't eat them, but appreciated the gesture). The replacement meals were delicious, and they gave us a discount for the trouble. We really enjoy this place -- it's usually a great experience. While I do wish the prices were about 10% lower, the quality of the food and the convenient location keep us coming back.

Since I was last here, their seating has doubled with the addition of taking over the space next-door. You now enter from the corner entrance and find your own seating. Staff is attentive and greet you as soon as you walk in the door. This time I decided to try something different and got the chicken ranch sandwich which in the description is fried chicken, bacon, cheese, lettuce, and tomato with ranch dressing on a sesame seed roll. I asked for the role to be replaced with sourdough and the ranch dress seem to omit the ranch. I was anticipating a crispy fried chicken patty with slices of bacon. Instead, I received two thin lightly fried pieces of chicken with bacon, bits, and melted cheese on top. Chicken didn't appear to have. The chicken was lightly seasoned and tasted more on the blah side, especially next to their beer, battered fries. Their side salad is spring mix with diced tomatoes on top and a nice addition for only $3.50 I was sad to learn that their coconut shrimp was no longer available.

The first time I came to Thai restaurant I really enjoyed enjoyed my food that this placed got stuck in my memory for a long time. A year later I decided to come here again and it wasn't anything like what it used to be. Both the quality of the food and service have gone down substantially in a little over a year. Will definitely not worth a third try.

    Angry Bird Sandwich
    Kyra K.

I always enjoy exploring neighborhood restaurants with my Dad who lives in Livermore. Many of his coworkers have raved about Hop DeVine and enjoyed their meals. So after a work-from-home day, we chose to come here for dinner and drinks! The restaurant is easy to locate within Vasco Plaza. It's humongous in size and a great place to host families, parties, and other gatherings. There's a casual vibe to it, and basic decor, all with friendly and non-pretentious service. However, we felt rushed at times being offered take-out boxes and having our dishes cleared before finishing. Typical bar bites and American fare are found here--appetizers, burgers, and sandwiches. My Dad got the French Dip while I had the Angry Bird. I'll say we both liked our drinks more than the food. The Angry Bird sounded great on the menu but I found it lacking in flavor. The Turkey tasted like typical deli meat, the sriracha mayo was minimal and had no spice, and there wasn't much seasoning to it. The best part for us both was the fries. I wouldn't mind coming back, but I'd get something different. For those looking for a down-to-earth atmosphere in Livermore, Hop DeVine is laid-back with nice service and decent food. Find them in Vasco Plaza with plenty of parking out front in the lot.
