Well I've done it, I've managed to find the best restaurant in the South East Bay. Range Life shouldn't be in Livermore, it's elevated above it. The ambiance, and most importantly the food absolutely scream to be located on Washington St in Yountville where they could make a billion dollars. Menu changes daily, not usually posted on their website until around 3pm so check often and if you see something you like on said menu, book a reservation immediately as it fills up quick. Bar and inside dining are great, but the outdoor patio is the spot. Lovely in the sun and if it gets chilly they have heaters and blankets (nice touch with the blankets). Back to the food, it's phenomenal. Every dish well thought out with the freshest ingredients possible; elevated and executed to perfection. Pasta is perfectly al dente and has that "chew" everyone tries to get, but rarely pulls off and rarer still, as well as Range Life does it. Servers, bartenders and host make for a truly welcoming environment. A place you want to sit down; eat, drink and be merry. It's akin to being transported to a place that you'll never want to leave. To hell with Disneyland, when I win the Super Bowl, I'm coming here. I assure you if you haven't been yet, you'll be back time and time again. Consider yourself warned. Range Life is easily the best restaurant in the Tri-Valley area and most likely the best east of the Oakland Hills. Which still doesn't feel like it says much, but what else can I say? Last night I went there for the 5th time. I've been there on dates and with big groups. Most of the time it has been amazing. This last meal, however, was flawless, and it inspired me to share today. First off, we did not have reservations on a Saturday night, and they were still able to get us 2 seats at the bar in 45 minutes, which was a relief. I was open to going to other downtown Livermore highlights such as Bourbon Pear or Il Campo, but was hoping on a whim we could get a seat at Range Life (which would typically require a reservation), since my date had not been there before. Once we got our seats, we were met with amazing service. At the moment I am not drinking, so I was wondering what kind of mocktails or non-alcoholic beers they had. Beforehand I was also wondering if they had a non-alcoholic aperitivo, since I know they have a lot of amaros and bitters. To my surprise, they did, so I had a non-alcoholic spritz, which was amazing. From there, we were only looking to get the highlighted entrées -- a black cod and a flat iron steak -- but we were also talked into getting one of their tartare/crudo options. We decided to go with the Amberjack crudo, which was absolutely amazing. It had mustard greens, fig leaf oil, and fresh early-season cherries, each ingredient something you were able to truly appreciate. The fig leaf oil, the fish, and the cherries were stunning, with the mustard greens providing a nice balance. From there we shared both the black cod and the grass fed flat iron steak. The flat iron steak was perfectly cooked, tender, and flavorful (despite being grassfed) that came with an amazing herb butter, mashed potatoes, and a porcini mushroom sauce that was absolutely to die for. The black cod was cooked to perfection as well -- tender, flaky, reminiscent of the butterfish I always have in Waikiki at Roy's. Accompanied by Iocopi English peas, bok choy, and turnips with dashi butter. The peas were, for what it's worth, probably the best peas I've ever had, and the vegetables were perfection. Light but amazing. The combination of both entrées was outstanding. Lastly, we had the famous Milk and Honey -- burnt honeycomb, olive oil, and malted milk ice cream. I've had it about 4 times now, and yet it was still surprisingly mind-blowing. I know something is truly amazing when I have to close my eyes and imagine the flavors bursting like a scene from the movie Ratatouille. I had to close my eyes to truly appreciate the crispy, sweet but slightly savory honeycomb, the fresh ice cream, and the olive oil for balance. The meal was absolutely flawless, and with the aperitivo, the Topo Chico, both entrées, and dessert, it came to $150 before tip. Honestly, it's a steal. I spent $300 at LB last weekend for a birthday dinner -- granted, I did get some A5 wagyu, an $80 14-ounce ribeye, a bunch of sides, and a couple of non-alcoholic drinks, which was amazing, but hardly a fair comparison. And if you go to the city or Oakland, you can easily spend $300-$500 on a meal, more if they have a Michelin star or two (or three). But for the quality you get, Range Life is an amazing deal. Came by for dinner the other night and it was a fantastic experience! Range Life is featured in the Michelin guide and has dining both indoors in their dining room along with a heated outdoor patio. Made a reservation and our table was ready upon arrival. Parking is readily available in city-owned surface lots and/or on nearby streets. Range Life serves farm-to-table Californian cuisine. Started off with the focaccia bread and it paired perfectly with the mozzarella snack. Portions were quite generous. For the mains, opted to share the California black cod along with the flat iron steak. The black cod was world class being prepared to a perfect medium with a fantastic super and flavorful broth complemented perfectly with the turnips, bok choy, and green beans. The flat iron steak was also excellent being cooked to a perfect medium rare. This was seasoned to perfection with simple salt and pepper. The mashed potatoes were excellent along with the charred cabbage that complemented this dish perfectly. The posset was a delightful way to end off the meal. Oh my gosh this place was great. If you follow my reviews you know I rarely ever give five stars. It has to be perfect and this place absolutely was perfect. From the moment you walk in you can tell this place is special. The hostess was amazing, our waiter, Javier, was amazing, everything was amazing. The staff is really great. You can tell they love what they do and are proud of the place they are working for. You rarely see that in the restaurant business anymore. The food was great. Everything we tried was delicious. And I'm serious when I say everything including the desserts is made right there with fresh ingredients. The menu changes regularly so be aware of that. I appreciate they keep their menu simple and tight. They don't try to make a lot of dishes, instead they keep the menu down and focus on quality and presentation. I would not be surprised if sometime in the future this place could have a Michelin star. They are just that good. I came here by myself on a Wednesday night, set a reservation online, but there was still seating available either way. The decor inside is simple, but classy. Music/ambiance isn't super loud, and the vibe is pretty casual. The tables are kind of squeezed closely together which does make it a bit weird because you can hear conversations next to you. I ordered an orange vanilla soda, Caesar, pork loin Milanese and apple cobbler. Portions were actually pretty large, and I had a good time. My server Jasmin was attentive and kind - the restaurant ended up comping my dessert because the wait for it got a bit too long, which is unexpected but appreciated. All were pretty delicious, but I'm docking a star because I felt some dishes like the Caesar, and the pork loin in my Milanese were far too salty (and I have a big savory tooth!) This a very mediocre restaurant but tries to be avant- guard of culinary traditions. The food is super simple yet uses fancy words to make it sound exotic. The best dishes were the Brussel sprouts , the squash tempura and the seashell pasta with Lam Raghu. I honestly have to use ChatGPT to get an English translation. I want to find out that they're all very ordinary dishes, but highly overpriced. The menu is confusing because you have snacks and then you have appetizers and then the main dish. I'm not sure why call appetizers snack snacks. Finally had a chance to check out Range Life after receiving a gift card here. We decided to go on a Monday to try their fried chicken special. We also ordered the steak and honeycomb dessert. Everything was good and I really enjoyed the fried chicken. However, nothing stood out where we felt that the experience or food was amazing and worth the higher cost. Nothing very unique. I can be a little allergic to making reservations, so I siddled in six minutes after opening. And dang! A gang of people were already seated and chowing down! The bartender and the couples to my left and right were beyond helpful with their recommendations! I ended up getting a fantastic Ceasar salad...and I dont really like ordering salads. My husband and I went on a double date with our best friends at Range Life, which was their go-to date night spot. We had reservations for 5pm, but the place was notably busy for such an early dinner time slot. We were seated in an intimate corner booth towards the front of the restaurant. Loved the ambiance of the place and its casual beauty. I appreciated the concept of the restaurant. I learned that everything was farm-to-table i.e. the chef goes to farmers' markets to meticulously gather ingredients for the frequently rotating menu, and the meats come from local farms. I loved everything I ate. We had 4 appetizers to share, and each person had their own entrees. - Yellowtail Crudo: This was much more savory and umami flavored than I expected, which was refreshing since this dish is often served with citrusy, sweet flavors. The yellowtail melted in your mouth like butter, but I did find a little bone stuck to the flesh of my piece. A rookie move, in my opinion, and for this reason was admittedly my least favorite dish. I'm not the biggest fan of persimmon either, but it worked with this and attributed a nice crunch to switch up textures. - Focaccia: Pillowy, fluffy focaccia. The date butter had a "Je ne sais quoi?" ingredient to it that made it incredibly unique but addictive. Maybe cumin? - Caesar Salad: I love a traditional Caesar salad where you can actually taste the anchovy paste. I liked how they used little gem lettuce and crushed the croutons, so every big leafy bite was crunchy and salty. - Bucatini Alla Nero: Excellent! Favorite appetizer of the night. Don't be deterred by the cuttlefish ink, because it didn't taste fishy at all. In fact it tasted more like an Asian dish and their chili oil packed the heat. - Duck Breast: This was my entree. Really fantastic relaxed yet setting for refined new American food. Came here for my anniversary dinner and had the most fun. The menu is constantly being updated so the ingredients highlighted during our visit reflected the best and freshest ingredients of the season. They put pears on there maybe to be in season with fall but it needed sweetness and acidity; an orange would have been better. They added some type of fishy component in the vinaigrette that was waaay too overpowering for the peppery leafy green. Way too much happening here. 2. Monterey crispy squid: batter was so light and squids were tender! But why did they put mustard in the sauce? Again, way too overpowering for how delicately light and crispy the squid is. 3. Radiatore: this pasta was 5/5 best thing. So umami flavored and delish ugh. Craving as I type. 4. Burnt honey ice cream: delish! But then as we ate more... every. freaking. bite. was. salty. Look, Im a big salt girl so salt and olive oil on the ice cream? Sounds phenomenal. But when every bite tastes almost savory with how salty it is is off putting. Found this spot on Resy from my American Express benefits, and had been wanting to try it for a while. Our original dinner plans fell through from another restaurant near by, so we came here instead, and I'm so glad we did! The menu looked so good we couldn't decide, so we asked our server for her favorites, and everything she recommended was amazing. The Caesar salad was hands down the best I've ever had, super flavorful, perfectly dressed, and those tiny crunchy breadcrumbs instead of big croutons were genius. The flatbread totally surprised us! we thought it'd be like naan, but it was more like a light, crispy potato funnel cake (in the best way). Came for a dinner reservation on Wednesday. It rained on/off this day but we decided to brave the rain and got a private outdoor dining experience with a nice view of a rainbow!! Food was delicious, we really loved the fig toast and the entrees we got. We got the lingcod and the flat iron steak. I love that the menu slightly changes every day depending on what produce they get and everything changes every month! For drinks we got the sun sleeper and an old fashioned cognac cocktail. Ok. I come here pretty often- at least once a month or so and I've left several reviews. I've liked 90% of all dishes here. Vegetables are king here - more so than the meat entrees. Definitely my favorite place to dine in Livermore (they really have to make more restaurants like this in this town!) but I have to say the pork belly dish was just not good. Soggy and smelly... I don't know. When I think pork belly I think something crispy but that's just me... so it's my first time giving a four star rather than five! But still my fave resto in the area, don't get me wrong. I still bring all guests over here when they come from out of town bc it's a super cute place with good vibes from all the servers... not to mention a great natural wine selection. I've been to Range Life twice now. My first experience was quite pleasant and satisfying. I really enjoyed the dishes that we tried - all snacks and appetizers. The second time I visited this place, all of the food was excessively salty. My friend and I were there to celebrate her bday, so I didn't want to say anything or make a fuss about it. Noticeably great service, unique and delicious food, and a nice atmosphere. I came with a group of 4 and we were able to get seated earlier than our reservation time. And the happy birthday menu? A sweet touch. - garlic flatbread: we all fought over the last bite. Fluffy and soft with great flavor. - Caesar salad: really good- I loved the crouton crumbles and bits of anchovy. - Duck breast: I had the duck breast and it was SO good. Perfectly cooked with this sweet pomegranate butter on top of polenta. - steak: all 3 of my friends ordered the flat iron. The steak was cooked to the right temperature, but was unfortunately a bit tough and the compound butter wasn't my favorite. Damn good food and the friendliest staff. Made a reservation for 7:30pm on a Saturday for a girl's night out. They change their menu frequently, so it's a foodie adventure every time you come! The interior is high-ceilinged with whitewashed brick and simple decor. Upon entering, the left-hand side has a low bar, cafe-style setup in front of an impressive wine wall. Behind that is the high bar and bartender station. On the right hand side is the main seating area with 2 and 4 top tables. They have an industrial-chic patio in the back, but as it was raining, we did not view it. Once you have perused the menu, they take your full order and then space the items to optimize your experience. We started with cocktails and the harissa olives before enjoying the dirty girl radicchio salad, lamb kofta and finishing with the fogline farms chicken. All their menu items have a nice spicy kick to them, which we loved! Their flavor combinations are creative and we'll executed. My favorite was the lamb kofta on a bed of whipped turnips and yogurt with turmeric. A surprisingly-upscale farm-to-table restaurant in suburban Livermore that ended up featured in the Michelin guide. This is likely the best upscale restaurant in town, and it delivers a great meal at a good value. Because I wasn't too hungry, and I've had every possible version of the standard entrees at these types of restaurants, I went with a mix of appetizers and snacks. The standout was the tartare, coated already on a large chunk of bread. Perhaps too much bread, but it tasted fresh and healthy. A lovely surprise. What a great place for a special meal. We had a birthday dinner here and it was an awesome experience. The service was top notch and they were so accommodating for kids in the group. I highly recommend coming with a larger group so you can try all the items on the menu. I would not normally order chicken on a menu as I think it is something I can just make at home, but the others in our group had other entree items so I decided to go with the chicken. There aren't too many Michelin guide places in the area so my husband and I were eager to try. We walked in and had to wait ~45 min to see if we could get a spot if a reservation didn't show. Thankfully, we waited and eventually did get seated on the side area. There wasnt too much room, but it was sufficient. Service was good. Food is pretty solid here. The appetizers were delicious - great flavor in the mafghoussa and flatbread. The Caesar salad had crispy gem lettuce which was very enjoyable. The steak was cooked perfectly and potatoes were creamy. The halibut wasn't dry and tasted delicious with the nectarines. As many have said, definitely try the milk and honey dessert. First time trying out range life and it was amazing! I see why it is a Michelin Star restaurant. Our waiter was fantastic and the ambiance was amazing outside. It was a warm day but perfect shade in the back from a massive tree. We started with the bread and flatbread both were delicious. I had the halibut as a main course and it was fantastic. We ended with dessert and definitely walked away full and happy. We look forward to coming back! read more

My fiancé and I went here for our anniversary. We sat on the patio and it was a really nice atmosphere. Both the service and food was really good. We had the focaccia, langos, halibut, and steak. Our favorite appetizer was the langos and I really enjoyed my halibut. It was cooked perfectly and had a really nice mustard sauce. We'd definitely come here again! read more

Our son found this little gem and took us out for dinner when he visited us over the 4th of July weekend. And it was such a wonderful experience. The cocktail was good. I had the lipstick but I prefer my son's. Not sure what it was but was with Gin. I think tender buttons? The appetizers were amazing especially the cheesy flatbread. Yummy! The entrees were great. Everything was just right. We made sure we save room for dessert as we read good things on the ice cream. And yes it was delicious!!! Will we come back? Yes!! Was it a bit pricey? Yes. No it is not an everyday or even every month treat. But I think it was worth it for a nice date night. read more
