The food was pretty good but I expected it to be outstanding based on reviews and what I had heard. We had reservations, but it took a moment for us to get seated and we felt like we were in both our neighbor's conversations. I was expecting a little more space and to not compete with everyone else talking. The service was okay, but I do feel like it took long to get our food. Not my first choice in Livermore but maybe we will try again.

Came by for dinner the other night and it was a fantastic experience! Range Life is featured in the Michelin guide and has dining both indoors in their dining room along with a heated outdoor patio. Made a reservation and our table was ready upon arrival. Parking is readily available in city-owned surface lots and/or on nearby streets. Range Life serves farm-to-table Californian cuisine. Started off with the focaccia bread and it paired perfectly with the mozzarella snack. Portions were quite generous. For the mains, opted to share the California black cod along with the flat iron steak. The black cod was world class being prepared to a perfect medium with a fantastic super and flavorful broth complemented perfectly with the turnips, bok choy, and green beans. The flat iron steak was also excellent being cooked to a perfect medium rare. This was seasoned to perfection with simple salt and pepper. The mashed potatoes were excellent along with the charred cabbage that complemented this dish perfectly. The posset was a delightful way to end off the meal. This was more like a custard from a fruit tart topped with some strawberries and pistachios. ~$80/head after tax and gratuity for dinner.

Very few places are able to maintain the highest quality service and ambiance let alone food. Range Life absolutely crushes all three aspects. Their food really is (no hyperbole) the best around and you should be coming from near and far to partake. It's not an adventure it's a pilgrimage.

    Apple cobbler

I came here by myself on a Wednesday night, set a reservation online, but there was still seating available either way. The decor inside is simple, but classy. Music/ambiance isn't super loud, and the vibe is pretty casual. The tables are kind of squeezed closely together which does make it a bit weird because you can hear conversations next to you. I ordered an orange vanilla soda, Caesar, pork loin Milanese and apple cobbler. Portions were actually pretty large, and I had a good time. My server Jasmin was attentive and kind - the restaurant ended up comping my dessert because the wait for it got a bit too long, which is unexpected but appreciated. All were pretty delicious, but I'm docking a star because I felt some dishes like the Caesar, and the pork loin in my Milanese were far too salty (and I have a big savory tooth!) I'll have to come back and try the other dishes though, and maybe I'll find myself updating this back to 5 stars! P.S. the apple cobbler was insane, it was so good.

Always love coming here, food is fresh and the menu changes! Milk and honey dessert is a must, yes I started with that. Food: steak always cooked perfectly Moutabal delish i think would have been better served as a dip and not a bowl with everything in it, made it hard to eat as a shared appetizer (eggplant pumpkin and tahini) Broccolini: black trumpets, pumpkin seed, rye and lemon Chicken: moist and good serving size Other desserts: chocolate mousse was perfect not too sweet. Apple crumble: warm and comforting again not too sweet. They are on point with dessert Kudos to the chef!

Squash tempura, but called something very fancy
    Tareq B.

This a very mediocre restaurant but tries to be avant- guard of culinary traditions. The food is super simple yet uses fancy words to make it sound exotic. The best dishes were the Brussel sprouts , the squash tempura and the seashell pasta with Lam Raghu. I honestly have to use ChatGPT to get an English translation. I want to find out that they're all very ordinary dishes, but highly overpriced. The menu is confusing because you have snacks and then you have appetizers and then the main dish. I'm not sure why call appetizers snack snacks. The drinks were good, but it was really annoying that the water they were serving was lukewarm, and I believe it was intentionally served that way to force you to order drinks and every time I ask for ice, the waitress would lose her smile as if we were asking for the world.

Fried chicken special with beer on Mondays
    Hannah K.

Finally had a chance to check out Range Life after receiving a gift card here. We decided to go on a Monday to try their fried chicken special. We also ordered the steak and honeycomb dessert. Everything was good and I really enjoyed the fried chicken. However, nothing stood out where we felt that the experience or food was amazing and worth the higher cost. Nothing very unique. I wouldn't hesitate to bring a friend here though since I think all of the dishes are crowd-friendly! I would come back for just the chicken :)

Great little find in downtown Livermore. Farm to table. Everything was fresh. The skirt steak was 9.5/10. Served with mash potatoes and a garlic butter Sheeeeesh. Throughly enjoyed our dinner. Had a chilled red wine to go with the our steak. Halibut Crudo was amazing as well. We will be coming back.

My husband and I went on a double date with our best friends at Range Life, which was their go-to date night spot. We had reservations for 5pm, but the place was notably busy for such an early dinner time slot. We were seated in an intimate corner booth towards the front of the restaurant. Loved the ambiance of the place and its casual beauty. I appreciated the concept of the restaurant. I learned that everything was farm-to-table i.e. the chef goes to farmers' markets to meticulously gather ingredients for the frequently rotating menu, and the meats come from local farms. I loved everything I ate. We had 4 appetizers to share, and each person had their own entrees. - Yellowtail Crudo: This was much more savory and umami flavored than I expected, which was refreshing since this dish is often served with citrusy, sweet flavors. The yellowtail melted in your mouth like butter, but I did find a little bone stuck to the flesh of my piece. A rookie move, in my opinion, and for this reason was admittedly my least favorite dish. I'm not the biggest fan of persimmon either, but it worked with this and attributed a nice crunch to switch up textures. - Focaccia: Pillowy, fluffy focaccia. The date butter had a "Je ne sais quoi?" ingredient to it that made it incredibly unique but addictive. Maybe cumin? - Caesar Salad: I love a traditional Caesar salad where you can actually taste the anchovy paste. I liked how they used little gem lettuce and crushed the croutons, so every big leafy bite was crunchy and salty. - Bucatini Alla Nero: Excellent! Favorite appetizer of the night. Don't be deterred by the cuttlefish ink, because it didn't taste fishy at all. In fact it tasted more like an Asian dish and their chili oil packed the heat. - Duck Breast: This was my entree. The duck breast was tender. Loved the dirty rice. - Grass-fed Flat Iron Steak: This was my husband's entree, and I personally found this better than my dish.

Finally made my way over and finally made time to post this review after so long (sorryyyy life be lifing)! Honestly did not dissapoint. I can be a little allergic to making reservations, so I siddled in six minutes after opening. And dang! A gang of people were already seated and chowing down! I guess they don't play around these parts! I was promptly greeted and given a wide variety of seating options. I picked the bar and was promptly greeted and presented with menus. The bartender and the couples to my left and right were beyond helpful with their recommendations! I ended up getting a fantastic Ceasar salad...and I dont really like ordering salads. The oysters were fine! Not bad at all, but not super thrilling. Crudo was lovely! Really similar to black cat's in my opinion, which is an excellent comparison! I also really enjoy the cocktails! Definitely a good special occasion treat yo self spot!

Really fantastic relaxed yet setting for refined new American food. Came here for my anniversary dinner and had the most fun. The menu is constantly being updated so the ingredients highlighted during our visit reflected the best and freshest ingredients of the season. Some dishes like the cold watermelon rind salad and carparccio were a little too inventive and tasted a little weird but I appreciated the attempt. The duck rice was BOMB. Their drinks are really good too. Will definitely be back soon.

    STAR ROUTE PUNTARELLE
    Evangeline E.

I am a complete food snob and came here because I saw it on the Michelin Guide. 3/5 stars I don't think I'd come back. Service was great, ambiance was super cute and moody. But the price for mediocre food is not something I can abide by. We were full from a late lunch so we got a light dinner. We ordered the STAR ROUTE PUNTARELLE, CALAMARI, RADIATORE, and the burnt honey ice cream. 1. Star Route Puntarelle: this salad wasn't quite balanced. They put pears on there maybe to be in season with fall but it needed sweetness and acidity; an orange would have been better. They added some type of fishy component in the vinaigrette that was waaay too overpowering for the peppery leafy green. Way too much happening here. 2. Monterey crispy squid: batter was so light and squids were tender! But why did they put mustard in the sauce? Again, way too overpowering for how delicately light and crispy the squid is. 3. Radiatore: this pasta was 5/5 best thing. So umami flavored and delish ugh. Craving as I type. 4. Burnt honey ice cream: delish! But then as we ate more... every. freaking. bite. was. salty. Look, Im a big salt girl so salt and olive oil on the ice cream? Sounds phenomenal. But when every bite tastes almost savory with how salty it is is off putting. All and all, they are still getting it together to be considered fine dining. It's okay, and I would not come back nor do I recommend. Maybe just for drinks?

    Caesar Salad

Found this spot on Resy from my American Express benefits, and had been wanting to try it for a while. Our original dinner plans fell through from another restaurant near by, so we came here instead, and I'm so glad we did! The menu looked so good we couldn't decide, so we asked our server for her favorites, and everything she recommended was amazing. The Caesar salad was hands down the best I've ever had, super flavorful, perfectly dressed, and those tiny crunchy breadcrumbs instead of big croutons were genius. The flatbread totally surprised us! we thought it'd be like naan, but it was more like a light, crispy potato funnel cake (in the best way). Both the halibut and steak were cooked perfectly, and we finished with their milk & honey ice cream, which was unreal. It had this nice salty and sweet, crunchy from the honeycomb, it was the perfect combo. It's definitely my top 5 ice cream dessert I've ever had and I don't normally like sweets. Cozy vibe, dim lighting, great service, great selection on alcohol, but I just stayed with water. It was overall solid spot. I'd 100% come back!

The Buzzed & Bougie was very floral, and The Cusco Comb had a nice balance of flavors. Out of the 3, the Electric Nectar was probably the strongest in terms of tasting the alcohol. I don't particularly prefer sour drinks. If I were to re-order, I would get the Cusco Comb, as it fits my taste profile the most. We also ordered the Burrata to share. It came with 6 pieces of toast, which was perfect and divided evenly among the 3 of us. The burrata was delicious. The cherry gastrique added a nice touch of sweetness without being overly sweet. The interior was a nice set up. Not too loud but a little low on the lighting. We kicked things off with the hush puppies. They were crispy, hot, and really good... then the cinnamon butter entered the chat. I appreciate the creativity, but my brain couldn't decide if I was eating an appetizer or breakfast toast. Good hush puppies though. The crispy Brussels sprouts were fantastic. I've had a similar version with lemon at Station 16, so I found myself wanting to grab a lemon wedge out of habit. That said, they were still delicious and disappeared quickly. My cousin ordered the Salisbury steak and absolutely loved it. It was cooked perfectly, tender, and full of flavor. My other cousin had the New York steak and said they nailed the temperature and seasoning. I ordered the Bourbon Chicken, and the flavors were outstanding. My only tiny complaint is the sauce. It was so generous that my mashed potatoes eventually surrendered and became mashed potato soup. I'd still order it again because the flavor was worth it but maybe ask for the sauce on the side. My son had the Southwest Salad and cleaned the bowl, which is about as close to a Michelin star as a parent can give. The service was friendly, the food came out looking as good as it tasted, and everyone at the table genuinely enjoyed their meal. Finding a restaurant where nobody is eyeing someone else's plate with regret is harder than it should be, but The Bourbon Pear pulled it off. We'll definitely be making the drive back to Livermore.

Came to The Hangar for an early Mother's Day dinner with the family (we celebrate Saturday instead…read moreof Sunday) and this was hands down one of the WORST restaurant experiences we've ever had. First off, this is NOT on the staff working. We genuinely felt bad for them. Management thought it was a good idea to schedule ONE bartender and ONE server on a packed Saturday night. The entire place was chaotic, customers were visibly irritated, TVs throughout the restaurant stopped working, and the poor employees were drowning trying to keep up. The stress was palpable that made the experience stressful and not enjoyable. Absolute management failure. At one point I used their self-pour beer wall and poured myself half a Modelo only for it to come out warm I was able to find another beer that was actually cold... but still charged for the warm one. The food was somehow even worse. We ordered the barbacoa nachos, wedge salad, and a kids burger with fries. The kids burger was the only edible thing. The wedge salad was drowning in ranch like someone emptied the whole bottle on it. Tomatoes tasted old and gross. Then came the nachos... tiny portion, bland chips, barely any cheese, no mango salsa like the menu claimed, and the "barbacoa" -- if you could even call it that -- was tough, fatty, and completely inedible. $74 later for one appetizer, one salad, one kids meal, and 1 1/2 beers. We only tipped because we felt bad for the server. We will NEVER be back. Thanks for ruining our Mother's Day dinner.

A Decent Downtown Spot with Great Salmon but Slow Service…read more We came to Maple Street Eatery, located at the end of the street in charming downtown Livermore, for lunch around 12:30 on a Saturday. It was very busy, and we had to wait approximately 20 minutes to get a table. Once seated, it took our server another 10 minutes just to come over and take our order. They were clearly low on staff, but to their credit, the staff members were definitely friendly despite the rush. The food quality varied quite a bit across our table: The highlight of the meal was the Blackened Atlantic Wild Salmon, which my wife ordered. It was served over Yukon Gold mashed potatoes and roasted seasonal organic vegetables, all topped with a lemon, butter, caper, and white wine sauce. This dish was an absolute 5/5--perfectly executed. I ordered the 14 oz New York Steak with scalloped potatoes and charred organic seasonal vegetables, topped with cowboy butter. I asked for it medium-well and really enjoyed the steak, giving it a solid 4/5. My friend ordered Mama's Crispy Tacos (two chicken and one potato), which came with cotija, lettuce, avocado, crema, and pico de gallo, served alongside a spicy green salsa and pinto bean smash. They rated this a good 4/5. On the flip side, my friend also tried the Grilled Baja Prawn Tacos. Served on flour tortillas over a bed of mixed greens with pineapple salsa and chipotle sauce, this dish really lacked flavor and was a disappointing 2/5. We also started with the Seasonal Mixed Greens salad, which came with green apple slices, candied pecans, seasonal berries, and a white balsamic vinaigrette on the side. This was just okay, landing at a 3/5. Overall, Maple Street Eatery is a decent place for brunch or lunch. If the service becomes more efficient and a few of the food items are improved to match the quality of the salmon and steak, we would definitely make this a regular spot to visit.

I am so excited that this place exists, and so embarrassed that I didn't know about it sooner…read more Rosetta coffee is a great place, but four nights a week, it turns into a themed full bar. The Wife and I have been there for a couple of Flapper Fridays, which is speakeasy night. Some drinks of that ilk can be too sweet for me, since the original speakeasies were using fruit juice or whatever to mask the awful booze they had available. But you can also order off menu. The first time we went, I ordered a carrot cake that was fantastic. The second time, we ordered bites, including a pizza flatbread, golden potatoes with different accompaniments, and of course another cheesecake. The Wife was able to order cocktails and beautifully served tea! Service was excellent, as they were very accommodating, and could recommend items easily based on our discussion. Can't wait to go back for Sinatra Saturday!

Yes, I got here on a Saturday with no reservations. I definitely understood having to wait under those circumstances and I was okay with that. I was told it would be 20 minutes. What I want to focus on is that we were the next group to be seated. There was only two of us. Another group with 4 people walked in about 15 min later after us with no reservations but they were seated almost immediately. The hostess did not acknowledge us nor said anything. Awhile after that I counted 3 different groups leaving - a tota of 8 people. We waited patiently and kept waiting thinking we would be seated. 20 minutes slowly pass by, then another 5, then another 5.. I looked over and saw two tables completely empty. I was literally outside the door after about 45inutes and my phone buzzed. Come to find out that they had 3 open tables available the entire time. The decor is tiki themed along with the drinks however the music playing in the background was jazz. Not sure how that fits the theme. Also, the drinks averaged about $20 and small bites and desserts ranged from $13-$20. I'm torn about wanting to return here.
