Fondue cheese appetizer, which had trouble staying lit outside on this breezy day. The chicken Marsala was fabulous. Rich and decadent sauce with mushrooms. I was coming home from the Bay Area and wanted some dinner. We were coming up to Livermore so I started to look for places to eat. It was a Saturday night. I found this place and called ahead and they said they could fit 3 of us right away. It' so nice to have an area in the city that has rows of restaurants and bars to easily walk to and dine at. This was that kind of area. We found street parking down the street from the restaurant. I noticed as we were walking that there was a parking structure the next block over from the main street. The place had a lot of people inside but room to fit us at a table inside. I think our server was Bobbie and she was great so nice and friendly. When we ordered it looked like we got all the good dishes. Since she didn't have to go over the menu. She said we hit the best food for dinner. The bar was nice with a lot of variety of alcohol. Which was nice to see at a long bar. I love to see all kinds of liquor. I got the Salisbury Steak which was really tasty and I liked it a lot. A mix of NY and short rib. My wife got the Bourbon Chicken and she really liked it. Nice flavor and she couldn't even finish it. My Daughter got the salmon and it was great too. All the food came out great tasting. Okay, so I'm NOT a fan of this place. I had the potato skins and the green salad. First off, the potato skins sucked. Just dry and lukewarm. The salad had too much dressing and was overpriced. Had to wait forever for the ranch dressing which made the potato skins even colder. My friend had the fried chicken salad which also had lukewarm fried chicken. Service was non existent. We needed a dog-friendly restaurant, and The Bourbon Pear came up in my search, with outdoor tables that provided some much-needed shade. I had the Bourbon chicken, in a mushroom cream sauce and asked for carrots instead of sauteed spinich. It was delicious and the portion huge. My husband had the salisbury steak and he loved it! We paid for the sourdough bread & butter, and it was really good bread. There is a lot a short walk behind the restaurant with plenty of parking. The service was very good as well. We ended up at The Bourbon Pear because we had family in town staying nearby, and what started as a convenient choice turned into a place I'd happily drive back to. The interior was a nice set up. Not too loud but a little low on the lighting. We kicked things off with the hush puppies. They were crispy, hot, and really good... then the cinnamon butter entered the chat. I appreciate the creativity, but my brain couldn't decide if I was eating an appetizer or breakfast toast. Good hush puppies though. The crispy Brussels sprouts were fantastic. I've had a similar version with lemon at Station 16, so I found myself wanting to grab a lemon wedge out of habit. That said, they were still delicious and disappeared quickly. My cousin ordered the Salisbury steak and absolutely loved it. It was cooked perfectly, tender, and full of flavor. My other cousin had the New York steak and said they nailed the temperature and seasoning. I ordered the Bourbon Chicken, and the flavors were outstanding. My only tiny complaint is the sauce. It was so generous that my mashed potatoes eventually surrendered and became mashed potato soup. I'd still order it again because the flavor was worth it but maybe ask for the sauce on the side. My son had the Southwest Salad and cleaned the bowl, which is about as close to a Michelin star as a parent can give. The service was friendly, the food came out looking as good as it tasted, and everyone at the table genuinely enjoyed their meal. Finding a restaurant where nobody is eyeing someone else's plate with regret is harder than it should be, but The Bourbon Pear pulled it off. Party of 5 on a Sunday Evening before the dinner rush. We were greeted and sat promptly by a very nice hostess. Our server came over and introduced herself and asked if we would like any cocktails and offered us water and gave us some time to pick out what we would like to eat. He was fast, friendly and attentive. The food here is exceptionally good, especially for the prices. I feel like the prices are very good and reasonable, especially in today's time. On top of the fact that everything that we ordered here on both of our visits have been phenomenal and taste and presentation. The atmosphere is nice. The aesthetics are pretty. It does get a little bit loud, but that's understandable as everyone is there to have a good time and a good meal. We had the Salisbury steak, Reyes, beef, short rib, the flank steak, and I personally had the grilled cheese inside of smoked tomato soup. The tomato soup is literally the best tomato soup I've ever had in my life. The grilled cheese is cooked to perfection and together they are just a wow meal. A place after my heart. Monday and Tuesday best days to come in, specials both days, all day long. Great happy hour from 2:30-5:30 M-F as well. Staff is lovely; talented, friendly and always ensure their guests have the best experience possible. Food is top-notch. Order the Cajun Fettuccine and add mushrooms, it's one of the best dishes in town. So flavorful, expertly seasoned, chicken remains moist and the pasta soaks up the sauce. When a friend from out of town wanted to meet here, I was excited and said yes! It is across the street from the Yin Yin and kitty corner from the Donut Wheel, both longtime establishments. They open at 11:30 and we were the first guests to walk through their doors on this Thursday. The host sat us way in the back. Their menu is intriguing with starters, soups, salads, burgers and entrees. We ordered: Black & Blue salad - romaine, filet tips, bleu cheese crumbles, tomato with crispy onions on top, a very pretty salad. My friend is a huge fan of bleu cheese so this was the salad for her. She especially enjoyed the protein, tomatoes, bleu cheese crumbles as well as the bleu cheese dressing. She mentioned the crispy onions added an extra crunch. The meat was cooked medium like she requested. Sedona chicken sandwich - chicken breast, green chili, cheese, avocado, lettuce, tomato with choice of soup or salad. My sandwich was just okay. It was missing that wow factor that I was expecting. Chicken unfortunately did not have much flavor and the bun fell apart so I had to eat it with knife and fork. Service was okay. No one came back to ask how our food tasted nor did they refill my water. The place did get busier closer to 12:30 and perhaps they needed more help? The interior is pretty and tastefully decorated but it gets noisy as the restaurant fills up. It feels like a very average downtown spot - not terrible, but nothing that really stands out either. The space is pretty tight, the design is forgettable, and the overall vibe doesn't leave much of an impression. Sitting near the entrance was especially uncomfortable since it was drafty and chilly, which isn't ideal on a Friday night. Loved the giant pictures on the walls though. The pricing is on the higher side for what's being offered. Snacks felt overpriced, and drinks being close to $20 set expectations that just weren't met. Food-wise, the loaded bread was left behind on the table and didn't get much attention, and the hush puppies came out a bit dry. Service was all over the place throughout the night - sometimes attentive, other times disorganized which made the experience feel inconsistent. In short: all the food was delicious, ambience delightful, and a great dinner all around The appetizers were great- the fondue and the pear quesadilla were particularly delicious. The pear quesadilla had a chutney sauce that is a must to put on as it pears (pun intended) perfectly with the Brie cheese. Dinner was good as well- but the one caveat is the names for the foods are.. generous. The cat fish po' boy for instance is not a po boy but rather a cat fish burger, and the French dip is not what you would traditionally thing and instead is was a whole piece of steak. Both of which were very tasty but perhaps now that you would expect. One last nice part was we had some very delightful live music. For my Gluten free people...This place is amazing! Now with someone with celiac disease that is just trying to enjoy a restaurant, I must say I respect this place. They are very knowledgeable. I know there is big risk for cross contamination any restaurant you go to but it helps when the server knows what she is talking about! She was so helpful explaining the things I can and cannot eat. For instance, the fries are just gluten friendly, so unfortunately that means they get cooked in the same fryer with other gluten items, so that was a big no for me. The potato skins are deep fried as well but if you let them know you have a "gluten allergy" they will bake them for you instead! The food is so good as well! This is our first time to this restaurant. I went with the Nashville chicken sandwich and a side salad. I like the fact that it was breaded chicken and not grilled for this particular order. The heat was average for a Nashville, hot chicken and the flavor was more in the buffalo sauce as an appetizer we ordered the hush puppies. The only downside was when I got the bill. It was $69 and they charged me for $85. When I questioned it, they added somebody else's wine to my order even after they brought me the ticket I found this to be a little disturbing and unorthodox. They were nice and fixed the mistake but I kind of felt like it was a mistake that shouldn't have happened and had I just signed and gave a tip. I would've never caught it until later. read more

This restaurant has a great selection of food! Unfortunately, I'm participating in a fitness challenge and had to go for a healthier item on the menu which was delicious -- Shrimp Louis. I swapped their Louis Sauce for a Vinaigrette due to the fitness challenge but the food was still delicious. The grilled char marks on the shrimp were great! Everyone else at my table really enjoyed their food! By the end of the meal, all plates were empty which is a good sign. Additionally, our waitress was very kind. I unfortunately didn't get her name, she was a sweet small blonde woman. I asked her if she could do a little birthday song for our friend, and she happily did so & even asked for the birthday girls name which made it a nice personal touch. Overall great experience! Rodney's first cafe/restaurant was called the Peasant and the Pear located in San Ramon. Boy has Rodney come a long way since then. My first impression of the Bourbon Pear is the ambience. Nice and quaintly located in downtown Livermore. There is both indoor and outdoor dining available. We sat outside since it was an unusual warm night in December. The second impression was the menu. Everything on the menu looks very appetizing. Our order included Cajun chicken pasta, Salisbury steak, NY strip and a Pork Chop. First time to Livermore Bourbon Pear ( I've been to the Walnut Creek location). Vibe is very nice and open and airy. Nice bar set up. The food was amazing. We shared the truffle Mac and Cheese, the truffle garlic fries and pear quesadilla and these were all amazing plates. Our table had the Rodzilla burger and these BLT which were hits. Service was a little inconsistent- servers were very nice but made some mistakes in the order. Some minor speed bumps but the servers corrected the mistakes quickly. I love the atmosphere in here but I love their food more! The service has been very slow at lunches, but at least I usually have hush puppies (proper hush puppies!) to hold me over. The caesar salad is excellent while you wait as well! I've had the Bourbon Chicken (think Chicken Marsala but with bourbon) and my husband consistently gets the amazing pork chops. The chef skulls here are top notch and everything is always expertly cooked. Their cocktails are also perfect. We decided to go here for dinner because we'd been wanting to try it for a while. The decor and vibes were pretty good and our waitress was super nice! That's about where all the good ends. We got the hush puppies which were mediocre at best. I read a few reviews where people said these were amazing and I have only come to the conclusion that these are the only hush puppies people have ever had in their lives. My husband got the chicken sandwich (not hot, as we were going to both share with our infant daughter). He said it was equally as mediocre. I got the catfish po'boy... or at least that's what I ordered. This is not a po'boy, this is a sandwich. I was slightly confused when it came to the table but I shrugged it off. If it was good, who cares if they called it the wrong thing. But it wasn't good. I ate about half of it but the catfish was under seasoned and incredibly mushy. The bun tasted stale as well. I picked at the other half of the fish but ended up not finishing. I had ordered regular fries but got garlic fries but they brought regular fries, as my daughter wouldn't eat the garlic fries. Another review said "you really can never go wrong with garlic fries" and they went wrong. Overly greasy and the garlic tastes like it's from a jar, not fresh. The fries themself were over cooked and some of them were hard. This was the restaurant that has now convinced me I'm going to stick to my main places here in Livermore and no longer venture out because it just makes me sad. read more

We went with very high hopes after having Bourbon Pear recommended to us by a shop keeper and after perusing the menu. Unfortunately our experience wasn't special at all. The service was spotty and slow. I ordered a shrimp louie that had very little to do with the classic and beloved salad. Spring greens (which I strongly dislike) mixed with some weird dressing that was as unlike a traditional Louie dressing as you can get. Four extremely salty medium sized shrimp (not the classic bay shrimp), a quarter of a sliced avocado, two cherry tomatoes and an old appearing hard boiled egg. Served in a small, non-entree sized bowl with an entree sized price. The Po Boy catfish sandwich had tasteless fish. The tomato soup was good, but the salad ordered with it was dry. Had dinner with friends at 6:10 and the wait for my party of 6 was about 45 minutes (we were quoted 30 but ppl staying to drink and hang out is not the business' fault) so I don't count this against them. They do not take reservations, so either bring your patience or don't go if you are super hungry, as it may take a while during peak times. They do bring out food pretty fast, so that is a plus. I like that they have a kid's menu and a toy box for them to select a prize upon entry. The place was full and decor was modern with a lot of wood and posters. It was very loud inside so trying to converse was very difficult. We could barely hear one another at the table. It was a tad overwhelming and I am rarely one to complain about noisy restaurants. Was here on Saturday around 6 and the place was packed! But we found a spot at the bar. They were slammed but got us our drinks just in time for our table to be ready. The wait was much shorter than expected. It's a comfortable place to relax and have a good time with friends. All six of us had a good time being able to chat. Yes it's loud in there but that means they are doing a great job. The food was excellent. We ordered loaded sourdough bread and Brussel sprouts for the table. Yummy! Gotta get the sourdough. Stopped by Bourbon Pear in Livermore and had a fantastic meal. We started with garlic fries (you really can never go wrong with them--crispy, garlicky, and addictive) and the pear quesadillas. The quesadillas were a delightful surprise: the sweet, juicy pear paired with melty cheese created a lovely sweet‑and‑savory contrast that felt creative and completely satisfying. It was a very busy Sunday but the server made sure everyone was well taken care of. For mains we had the fried catfish with hush puppies -- the hush puppies absolutely stole the show with a crunchy exterior and tender, flavorful interior. The blackened salmon was reliably excellent: perfectly seasoned, nicely charred on the outside and moist inside -- a safe bet that delivered. My cousin's chicken was a hit as well.
