I was happy to return to this restaurant since we had such a nice experience last time. The interior is not overly large but they have plenty of seating outside too. The one thing that is still unchanged is that all the employees here are super friendly and happy, always smiling, and I never needed to ask for a refill on my water. We ordered: Pear/prosciutto salad Pork belly sandwich Carnitas burrito Our server was delightful. He recommended the carnitas burrito to me so I said sure! It was quite a substantial burrito covered in a gorgeous red sauce. Delicious! My dining companions loved their meals too. The friend that ordered the salad worked on it the entire time and it still looked like a full untouched salad. The arugula and pears looked fresh and tasty. It is a beautiful salad. We were not rushed out and a nice gentleman kept coming over to quietly check on us and make sure our water glasses were full. We appreciated the nice photo they took of us too. We finally tried Polo's Corner for breakfast in our tour of local weekend breakfast spots. When you have to get up to find the waitress so that you can get the coffee that you ordered ten minutes earlier, it's not a good sign. The wait for 2 pancakes and eggs was long. It wasn't too crowded and there were many employees both behind the counter and kitchen and serving staff. The pancakes didn't come with butter but we didn't feel like getting up again to request it ( no server stopped by to check on the outdoor tables). I won't be back, unfortunately. The fish and chips was like having little fishsticks. They gave a handful of fries. I ordered the carnival burrito it looked big, but the meat was cold, you could tell it was taken out of refrigerator. Cheese was not melted, meat cold, plate was hot so I understand them thinking it was hot, however half the burrito had such small amount if meat it was like a rice burrito. We won't be back!! Clean place with nice servers. About 6 tables of guests, so maybe halfway full. Took a while for order to be taken and longer for food to come out. Started out strong with delicious spicy street empanadas and tempura cauliflower. It just wasn't a tempera batter though it's a wet batter. Crab sandwich and fries were a little plain. Had to season and it helped adding hot sauce. It was just ok, I wouldn't order it again. Tea varieties were tasty. Pasta primavera also was a little bland and needed seasoning. I had Polo's on my list to try because they have Cioppino on the menu. They also have Beef Stroganoff. I love both things and make them at home. However, it's June. Neither appealed today. Both are winter dishes for me. I opted to try the pork belly fries and a side salad. The fries were extra crispy (double fried?) and come topped with cheddar cheese, ranch, and pork belly. The flavors balanced nicely. I just wish they had topped them with some chopped chives or chopped green onion tops. Either added an extra dimension of flavor. The side salad was really fresh and the citrusy salad dressing served with it adds a brightness that makes a good dish even better. I just went with a Sprite to drink, but they had some appealing mocktails on the menu. Maybe next time. Service was friendly and it's strip mall location guarantees good parking. We have eaten at Polo's Corner several times, mostly for dinner but a couple times for breakfast. What keeps us coming back? The dinners are always particularly outstanding, the service is extremely attentive in a very gentle and earnest way you only get from a close-knit family business, and the food is just consistently good. Tonight we went with my father in law who is in town visiting - who asked to come back (he went here with us before), and he got the steak again. I got the wagyu burger (I said yes to bacon!) and my stepdaughter got the smash burger, and we both basically polished them off. Instead of a fries I got a side salad - which wasn't an afterthought either - crisp spring mix lettuce, tomatoes, etc - everything seemed farm fresh. Got a "calamary" for the table and it was outstanding - this was some of the most succulent squid I have had in a long time, the breading was light and delicate, and the aioli was just perfect. We splurged for dessert, why not (pictured a few here). Dad ordered the molten chocolate cake, stepdaughter ordered the limoncello cake, wife ordered the affogato (not my thing, but she loves 'em) and I had the apple tart, and we shared them all. Although it was a close call, I think the limoncello cake was the best, and all of these desserts look like they were prepared by Michelin chefs. Polo's Corner is very unassuming - it's set in a somewhat out of the way spot near the Lucky's on Portola Avenue - easy to miss. It really deserves to be on First Street - this is a heavy hitter! I've been here a couple times now, once for dinner with my husband and a second time for their Easter brunch. For dinner, I ordered the smash burger, though it wasn't really a traditional smash burger and felt more like a regular burger with two very thick patties. That said, it was still good. The fries were hot and fresh, and our server was very kind. My husband enjoyed his fish tacos. They needed some salsa on the side though, which we asked about but it wasn't spicy. We also noticed they were promoting their upcoming Easter brunch at the time and we were looking for a spot for Easter too. Making an Easter brunch reservation was easy and smooth. The staff member on the phone was helpful and accommodating when we needed to adjust our headcount. We arrived 30 min before our reservation but they were able to seat us which we appreciated. The brunch itself was decent, but I'm not sure I would return for the value. It was a buffet-style brunch that included coffee, tea, and sodas. The prime rib needed a bit more flavor, we didn't see any au jus which would've helped, although it was nice to have a carving station and a made-to-order omelette bar. Some of the hot items were kept in warming trays but were more lukewarm than hot. They advertised waffles, but I didn't initially see any on the buffet, so we asked. A staff member mentioned they had batter available and kindly made fresh waffles for us in the kitchen. They were brought out beautifully topped with strawberries, cinnamon, and whipped cream. When we requested another order, we asked a different server for the same preparation, but the staff member who originally made them was back at his station, so we received a plain waffle instead. When we asked another server for strawberries, he somewhat abruptly and rudely pointed us to the buffet and said there was fruit available over there outside. We checked, but there were no strawberries at that time, so we didn't pursue it further. Later, when we ordered waffles again, there were still none on the buffet. I happened to speak with the same server again (that pointed to the fruit earlier), and he rudely said there were waffles out and we could get them ourselves, but then I told him that there weren't any as I had just come from there, and he acknowledged the issue. It seemed that items were not being consistently monitored or restocked. Unfortunately, the second round of waffles did not come out the same as the first and were missing the strawberries and whipped cream. However, the omelette station cook noticed and kindly brought us whipped cream when he passed by, which we appreciated. Overall, the ham was quite good. The salad selection felt a bit weak and looked wilted, and the dessert area was sparse with items not consistently refilled. The salmon was also slightly dry and could have benefited from more of the cream sauce. This is a good place to meet up with friends for brunch or lunch. The menu caters to a wide range of taste. I really enjoyed the Pear & Prosciutto Salad. 04262025 Before checking out the Livermore winery scene, my friends and I came here for brunch. The place was packed for a drizzly Saturday, so I'd recommend making a reservation. The space itself is small, so be prepared... Ideally, I would've preferred not to be seated in the center, as the people next to us were staring while we ate. I wasn't sure if it was because of what we were eating or discussing, but I'd prefer either of those over it being about our race... yup, I went there. That was the only caveat of the day. Service was friendly and prompt. I got the steak and eggs because I rode my bike the night before and was honestly craving meat. The steak was cooked right, and the portion was generous--I ended up finishing it. My girls and I also tried their mimosa. I went with the guava version, but I couldn't really taste much, so next time I'll probably stick with classic OJ. Overall, the quality/portion was great as well as the price! My mom found this place on yelp and we decided to stop in for lunch. This place is amazing. Service is great, place is nice and family friendly, and the food is so delicious! My dad ordered fish tacos, my mom got the seafood pasta, I got pasta primavera with prawns, my sister ordered a burrito, and my son ordered French fries. Nothing disappointed. Portions were great! Yesterday, I had dinner at this restaurant with my friends, and I was truly thrilled because I finally found a seafood paella that lived up to my expectations--something I hadn't been able to find anywhere else in the area. We also enjoyed seafood pasta, salads, and desserts. I highly recommend all of it! We were delighted by the owner's incredibly kind and attentive service. We recently met family at this restaurant for lunch. The menu is quite large with a wide variety of selections, and they serve breakfast well into the day. There were six of us, and we had an opportunity to sample several different meals. Everyone was very pleased with their choices, and the service was excellent. Both accurate and quick. Flavor was fine but then again it's deep fried wings... they're not hard to mess up. Double smash burger, extremely greasy, a little dry, and just not that great. Fries were good. Fish and chips, I'd probably pass on ordering again. Fish was very skimp. More batter than protein and once again fairly average. Fish tacos, pretty flavorless and dry. I know it's hard to find good fish tacos so I shouldn't have expected much but I've been on a fish tacos thing lately after a recent trip. Lastly, the best thing we ordered and the only thing saving this from a total bust. The crab melt. This was good! Plenty of flavor, well mixed. Not too much bread and generous protein. The food was not my favorite. I ordered the california benedict which needed more seasoning. The highlight of it was the mango habenero sauce which also felt like a weird combo with the benedict. The sauce was good tho! Overall the food just felt underseasoned. My boyfriend got the chilaquiles with steak but he wasn't a big fan of the sauce. I should have sent it back but I ate half of it, hoping the next bite would magically be tasty and juicy. I believe in miracles, but didn't happen. My sister shared a few bites of her Crab Omelette. It was mostly shrimp and we barely tasted any crab. She said there was no love in it, and I agreed. Our cousin seemed satisfied with her Sea Bass Tacos but she wasn't raving about it either. We shared the crepes with berries and Nutella. The Nutella wasn't creamy and they weren't generous with the berries. Looked like one strawberry cut up into six slices. I was having a girls lunch with some friends and we found this place on Yelp. Expectations were low as they are with any new place these days. But wow, not only were we greeted warmly by a pleasant staff but no one could easily decide what to eat from the fantastic menu. It wasn't overwhelming in its offerings the way Cheesecake Factory is but rather it seemed to just have a very nice range of appealing menu items. Went here for a great weekend lunch. I was very impressed. Everything about the service, the atmosphere, and the food were perfect. It was a little crowded at noon on a Saturday but not too bad. The ice tea was great. Even thought it was unsweetened, it had some pieces of fruit in it. Very festive! The fish and chips were great. Fish wasn't oily and it was crispy. Fries were crispy in that double-fried way. Cole slaw was also good. My crab melt was perfect. Just warm enough and just enough filling. The sourdough bread it was on was nice and toasty. The cup of chicken vegetable soup was great. You could actually see and taste the chicken pieces. Really flavorful. This was a good experience. I always make sure to come to polos corner hungry. They are a little pricey, but I think it's worth it because of their portion size. Wanted to get some brunch on Sunday around 12pm (ik that was a terrible idea but I can't help my cravings). This was one of the only places with less than a 10 min wait. We didn't have to wait long despite not having a reservation. We sat outside on the covered patio. It was comfortable with a heat lamp nearby. The service was attentive and our water glasses were always full. I love that this restaurant is a family owned and run business. We all ordered different savory breakfast items with a sweet treat to share. My Veggie Benedict was full of veggies, avocado, two perfectly poached eggs over a portobello mushroom and topped with a pineapple Serrano sauce. The sauce was too sweet for me and I would have enjoyed my eggs even more without it. The house country potatoes were crisp on the outside and soft inside. The potatoes had bell peppers and onions as well. We shared the Mixed Berry Crepes which had berries, Nutella and fresh whipped cream. It was a delicious combination.
