This past Sunday Funday, a few of my dearest girlfriends and I met for breakfast at The Livermore Breakfast Club. It was very busy, but we immediately found the perfect high top in the bar area. That is where we met Alex . He was so sweet, professional, and an amazing server! If you ever get him as your bartender or server, please ask him about their special "Cucumber Cocktail". I also recommend his creation- the midori, vodka, and manga puree shot....YUM and very refreshing. Oh, and the champagne pours are the BEST! Did I mention the food? So goooood! My favorite is the eggs benedict duo. It is the only restaurant I know of where you can order 2 different kinds of eggs benedict. I shared with one of my friends. I have been meaning to try this place and honestly thought it was going to be like any other basic brunch spot but it actually completely exceeded my expectations!! The menu is honestly a little overwhelming because there are so many things to choose from but as someone who loves breakfast but can't eat pork... I loved that they had soyrizo. We ended up getting the soyrizo breakfast burrito and the chicken katsu egg benedict. Both of these items were so tasty!! The burrito had lots of flavor and the chicken kastu had a lot of different flavors that paired surprisingly well with one another. Both meals came with a piece of cantaloupe which was very fresh and hit the spot afterwards. The katsu came with breakfast potatoes which were really good but very dense. I couldn't not get a sweet treat... so we got the blueberry lemon ricotta pancakes and omgg!!! The pancakes had a lemon flavor that was subtle and not over powering in any way. It was topped with blueberries which was nice but I was kinda hoping for a blueberry jam lol. Either way they were delicious and came with a side of syrup and whipped cream. All the meals were huge, we had a bunch of leftovers and enjoyed the meal entirely!! The actual restaurant is spacious. There's tons of indoor and outdoor seating which is super nice. We sat outside and the weather was nice so it was a cute little brunch experience. Our server was super nice. She was attentive and got our order down ASAP!! The food also came out very fast. The Breakfast Club--obviously a takeoff of the 1985 movie "The Breakfast Club." But where's Molly? A friend tried this new Livermore breakfast spot and liked it, so I gave it a try. My TLDR: meh. I'll keep Jim's in Pleasanton as my go-to, even though I live on the southeast side of Livermore (so I have to drive past BC to get there). First, they are expensive, though their portions are good-sized. Prices are on the menu--but conspicuously not present on the bill, which isn't a bill at all. More on that later. Our waitress was nice enough, but I only saw her to take the order, bring the food, and then bring the bill. Both of our water glasses sat empty for most of the visit. Also, I would have loved some salsa for my omelette, but you were nowhere to be found, and I wasn't in the mood to get up and hunt for you--I already got up to track down salt for my wife from one of the 90% of tables that were empty--so ketchup on the omelette it was. The next time I saw you was when you brought the bill. Here's one of those things that irks me--and it's not just BC. Many restaurants do this thing where they include everything, like putting only cheeseburgers on the menu so if you want a hamburger, you say "leave off the cheese" instead of having a hamburger that's a dollar less on the menu and adding cheese if you want it. Interestingly (and conveniently), when you say "leave off the cheese," they never leave off the dollar. It's subtle thievery that flies under the radar for most, and as trivial as it seems, at the end of the month it substantially inflates the establishment's bottom line. I used to work in restaurants and have seen how these seemingly insignificant rip-offs can be the difference between an establishment making their nut for the month or not. In this case, it's not about a cheeseburger. Almost all of their breakfast items come with avocado (not a fan) and/or sour cream (don't like it). I ordered the Popeye omelette, which comes with both. I had them leave them off, but I'm still paying for it. Most places charge at least $3 for avocado and $2 for sour cream--so that gets deducted from the tip. I'm simply not going to pay for it. Suggestion: have a "build your own omelette" option without jacking up the price beyond what those items would cost if they were included in an option already on the menu. And now, it's time to go. The waitress is still nowhere to be found. She finally shows up and hands me the tablet with the tip options staring at me--and she hovers ... and hovers. I finally said, "I'm going to need a minute." She walked away. Why do I need a minute? Well, a few things. The lowest tip option showing is 20%. Twenty percent of what? Is that the pre-tax amount or the post-tax amount? I don't know, because all it shows is the total. I can't even see what I ordered to verify I was charged correctly. So yes, I have some work to do here--and I'm not doing it with you hovering. I'm not doing 20%, for all the reasons already mentioned. Fifteen percent at best, which is a normal tip anyway. But, again, 15% of what? I know sales tax in this area is 10.25%--we'll call it 10%--so even though I still don't know if I was charged correctly, for the moment I assume I was and that I am looking at a post-sales-tax total. Lots of assumptions that I am not forced to make when someone hands me a detailed paper bill. Next step: when I select "custom tip," I have to enter a dollar amount--there's no option for entering a percentage--so I have to manually calculate 15%. I multiply the total by 0.9 to get a pre-tax amount (not exact, but close enough). Then that gets multiplied by 0.15 to get the tip. So I break out my phone to use the calculator to do all this--stuff I could do in my head with a paper bill that doesn't hover. And here's a little restaurant etiquette: don't pick up the bill from the table until after the customer has gotten up to leave--but I guess if one is used to hovering over the terminal, that opportunity rarely presents itself, so you likely didn't know. Side note to the proprietor: I get that it simplifies things on your end, but a lot of customers recoil when a POS terminal is put in their face--It's a huge experience killer at the end of what may have otherwise been a good time. The lack of water and salsa, the waiting, the whole thing with those bloody POS terminals with the inflated default tip in my face, and the hovering--I never did subtract for the avocado and sour cream, but I should have. We simply both have very different styles of restaurant-ing. I arrived relaxed. I left agitated. I finally did get a look at the bill detail, but only after I paid/closed the bill and then entered my email address into the POS terminal. $54 for what amounted to five eggs, potato, toast, and oh yes--avocado and sour cream. The quality was good and the taste ... pretty much what you expect egg an potato to taste like. Nah. Jim's next time. read more

Liked the food! You certainly get very large portions of both the main and the sides it comes with. I was a little bit surprised at the portion of the latte. Starting at $6, they presented an 8oz mug that was *maybe* 2/3 full.... My friend and I were surprised at that. Other than the latte, I found the food really good and worth the money. Coming back from SF we found this spot for brunch. Had good ratings so decided to try it out. Was in downtown Livermore, easy to find parking. The place is only open till 3, so glad we made it...I had the Kentucky scramble, but no bell peppers, just my preference. Not only is the portion HUGE!!! But it was full of flavor. My wife had the avocado toast, huge serving as well and had plenty to take home. The fresh OJ was good, they do have a full bar but we did not partake. I asked for medium rare, but it came out a little overcooked. Still, the steak was tender, and the egg yolk paired really well with the steak and potatoes, making it very flavorful. I've been to a couple locations across the East Bay and the food is pretty consistent across the board! I always go for their coffee cake when I can, but I find that sometimes it can be dry (I feel like this is an indicator of whether the cake is fresh or not). The brunch is on the pricier side, but it comes with a lot of food so it's worth it IMO. Service is also good and generally fast. I recommend getting there early in the morning to nab a spot. read more

I've never had a bad bite at this place. It's become my go to breakfast and happy hour spot. Firstly (new word alert Lol), there's always ample seating both indoor and outdoor. And the service is great too. Shout out to Axel for always taking good care of me when i visit. But most importantly let's get to the food and drinks. This place is new to downtown Livermore and very popular. They crammed in a lot of seats so they can fit as many people as possible. It's pretty loud inside because they have a DJ, which I find a bit odd for a breakfast spot. I don't think the DJ adds anything to the vibes except for making it loud. I visited The Breakfast Club on a busy morning with a party of 3 and the wait was reasonable , about 20 minutes, which wasn't bad given how packed the place was. The service was decent overall. Our waiter was attentive, remembered to keep our coffee refilled, and didn't forget about us despite the full house. However, the restaurant itself was pretty dirty. Our table was wet when we sat down and the seats had old food crumbs on them. That's not a great first impression.The food was mostly bland. My avocado toast had almost no flavor (though I did enjoy the arugula on it). The mimosa and coffee were good, at least. My son ordered the pancakes with a side of fries since they didn't have country potatoes or a kids menu. He liked the pancakes, but overall the dishes lacked taste and presentation. Nothing really stood out or showed much originality in the plating.Between the dirty tables/seats, average food, and better options nearby with nicer ambiance and higher quality, I won't be coming back. I was so excited to try out this new breakfast spot and purposely waited after a few months for the kinks to be worked out. Sadly, I cannot recommend The Breakfast Club. On a summer weekday (Tuesday) morning, our meal consisting of 2 dishes and a kids' meal took over 45 minutes to arrive. The table next to us (party of 4 were seated right before us and finished dining/left) and we still hadn't received our dishes. I would hate to think what service would be like for a large party or group on a weekend. I had a bad feeling after having to wait a prolonged amount of time to even place our order. After that, our server pretty much disappeared although our water was promptly refilled by other staff. We had breakfast here at 9am on a Sunday, so it was early enough to not have to wait for a table for 2. I enjoyed the Midtown Scramble with herbed potatoes, which came with sour cream and hollandaise sauce, plus I opted for coffee cake instead of toast. Everything tasted good (not overly salty which is how I like it), and the food came out promptly. The portion size is generous so there was enough for 2 meals. The restaurant is spacious and clean, and the service friendly and efficient. While the flavors and preparation were solid, it didn't quite break the threshold for 5 stars on this first visit. We have been to Lafayette Breakfast Club several time and Midtown twice. Today we split The Popeye omelet while substituting jack for cheddar cheese. The food has always been "good". Finesse execution is not their strong point. Today's Popeye omelet came with hash browns that were cooked more than we like. They have a DJ on the weekend 12AM-3PM. If you like loud DJ music then give them a try. If not then .... The manager told us that only Castro Valley and Livermore had a DJ. The loud music made it very difficult to communicate with the server. read more

A flow of syrup and spongy texture but a filling meal. That is how I would describe the Korean Fried Chicken dish at Breakfast Club. Coming in, you realize how enormous this place is. All the televisions playing College football and folks having meals over chatter. It gives a vibe of a newcomer in town but settling in its place. The color inside is reminiscent of a freshly remodeled AirBnB with the gray laminate and veneer wall panels. It is very clean and organized for the simplicity that opposes the chaos in life.
