This is my new favorite breakfast place. The interior is big and bright, somewhat loud. Big TVs showed football, so if you want a quiet omelette, this isn't the place. The menu is large, with savory and sweet, and out server Eda was excellent and attentive. The table was set up with plenty of condiments and lots of half-and-half, which was was great. I usually have to ask for extra. I ordered coffee and freshly squeezed orange juice. When the juice arrived, a large glass, I almost downed it at once, it was soooo good. The place has a full bar, and they offer a tasting sampler of four spiked iced coffees - fun! One problem with the menu - the omelettes are all four egg! That's huge. I was afraid to order one, thinking that I'd waste half. I got the basic two eggs with sides (with "potatoe" written on the receipt, ha!) When it arrived, it was clearly more than two eggs, perfectly scrambled. The wife ordered avocado toast, which was a beautiful presentation. It was DIY, with unadorned toast, a little bowl full of avocado topping, additional sliced avocado, two sliced hard boiled eggs (the menu said it would be one - see a pattern here?) and crispy hash browns on the side, instead of fruit. When we first got there we put our name on the wait list since there wasn't anyone at the podium. Waited to be called, but saw new customers walk in and be seated immediately. So, it seems like they weren't paying attention to the wait list at all. Food was ok. We tried the coffee, vanilla iced latte, french toast combo (sausage and over medium eggs), chocolate chip pancakes with side of bacon, and chicken fried steak. Coffee was nice and hot, if not a bit strong. Iced latte wasn't sweet enough. All the meals came out piece meal by other people besides our server. Literally we had at least 3 different people bringing us 1 plate of an item at a time. We had to ask for our missing items about 5x, if not more. 2 of us got served most of their breakfast except the toast at the beginning. Then the pancakes arrived without the bacon. Then french toast without any syrup. Then the eggs and sausage for the french toast combo. And then the bacon never showed up. In the end we just asked for it to be put in a to-go container cause everyone had finished already. The chicken fried steak wasn't as good as black bear diner's. The gravy was ok, though a bit gritty. The eggs and hasbrowns were warm, and mostly cooked correctly. But they didn't get to eat their eggs with the toast, which was disappointing. The chocolate chip pancakes were a little too chocolatey, so my recc is to ask for no chocolate syrup on it (unless you like that). And the eggs that came with the combo french toast were disappointingly cold while the sausage was warm. It doesn't make sense when you have to wait for the item and they don't come out fresh and hot. All in all it was a bit of a disappointing 1st time experience. We may try again 1 more time, but REALLY hope management changes how they have the food delivery system. It really did not work at all. read more

great spot! My partner and I decided to stop by here for brunch, and we had a great experience! We both got the combo with eggs and bacon. I decided to try the Oreo Cookie Pancake Combo, which came with three very large pancakes. In my opinion, the pancakes weren't overly sweet, which I actually liked. I do think it would have been even better with a little more cream, but since they're called Oreo Cookie Pancakes, the flavor made sense. The pancakes were super fluffy, soft, and delicious! I would definitely get them again or try another pancake option next time. My partner got the Banana Foster French Toast, and he really enjoyed it as well. We both ended up getting really full! The menu is pretty extensive, and they also offer flights, which I thought was a fun option. I'd definitely like to come back and try some of the other dishes. I have a sweet tooth, so I really appreciated the variety of sweet options they had. I also realized that you can get mini pancakes if you wanted to! Even though the restaurant was pretty busy, we didn't have to wait long to get seated. Our server was welcoming and quick, and our food came out pretty fast as well. The restaurant itself was clean, although the restroom did have a bit of a funky smell during our visit. I also liked that they have both indoor and outdoor seating. Overall, everything went smoothly during our visit, and I'd definitely come back to try more of the menu! Had breakfast this morning at about 11:00am and was glad to have another good comfy place for breakfast and lunch. Parking was not a problem in the shared lot and I can see people enjoying their outdoor dining area on a nice day. The inside was modern and well lit. Their windows have shade in order to not sit in direct sunlight if that is your preference. My party of 4 were greeted and seated quickly and water was given to us while we looked over the menu. I appreciate the staff providing my kids with plastic lidded cups with straws. Items ordered: Hot chocolate Coffee Apple juice Old fashioned pancakes~ 2 large fluffy pancakes. Molcajete de Costillitas~ large order with beautiful presentation and lots of protein! This also came with toast and fruit. Popeye's scramble~ large portion and plenty of protein. This place has a wide variety of brunch items. A plate will cause your around $17-$25 which I think is on par with similar style brunch spots. I ordered the California Benedict and substituted fries. The food came out quick and hot. I'd say the food could be a little bit more flavor.l because it was somewhat bland. My biggest gripe is the price difference between their physical menu and their online menu. The online menu reflects a lower price which is very deceiving. They need to update their website. The hash browns were nice and crispy. We each subbed out our toast for a pancake. The pancakes were fine, but leaned towards the "flat and dense" end of the spectrum vs. the "light and fluffy" end. I had no idea how spacious this place was, even after looking at pictures on Yelp. We were seated right away, and the menu gives you plenty to choose from. The server was not having a good moment when taking our order, but afterwards, he was much friendlier. It was more of the same for my daughter who thought there wasn't enough mango in the mango matcha. If we don't finish our drinks, we usually take it home to go but we decided to leave ours. It's not enough to have a good presentation of specialty coffee drinks but the taste leaves one wanting. I want them to do good. There are better foams and syrups out there. Check out the syrup that Porto's uses for their ube matcha. There's great small batch syrups as well. Our waiter was lovely. You get the sense that this is possibly his family's business. If not, he definitely had pride in this restaurant and his work which leads me to believe that I would give this place a try again to eat their food and see if they've improved their coffee menu. read more

We recently hosted a retirement breakfast here and it was great! The location is very conveniently located near the freeway. Once inside, the place is very inviting and well laid out and maintained. On my way to the goodguys car show I wanted to pick up a quick breakfast. I was thinking to go. Upon arriving at the restaurant there was a lot of clientale eating. Once I glanced at the huge menu, we changed to eat there. The huge amount of foot traffic is a sign of good food. On this day I would have to agree. Came here on a Sunday morning around 10:30am - got seated right away. There were a couple staff getting trained and that's how we met Rahul. Since I've read some mixed reviews on the Country Fried Steak, I asked Rahul if it was good lol. Rahul gave very honest opinions and I decided to give it a try. We also got the Corned Beef Hash Skillet, a Belgium waffle and a side of French toast. The Country Fried Steak is different from the other ones I've had. It's not thin & coated in bread crumbs, but instead thicker & had a thin layer of batter. Since the batter was so thin and the entire piece of meat was covered in the very delicious gravy, there wasn't really a crunch. The steak also had a chew (which I didn't dislike) but I can see why some reviews thought that it was not tenderized enough. I did enjoy the dish, however, I also think that it would be even better if the steak had a crispy exterior. The Corned Beef Hash Skillet was delicious. Instead of the corned beef in one corner, hash brown in another and eggs, everything was mixed together well. This place has declined substantially.. service is absolutely horrible. The worst experience I've ever had or seen in a restaurant. People literally got up and left their tables in droves due to lack of service. People waiting to be seated turned around and left as waiters passed them without even looking their way. The food in this place was very good. The hashbrowns tasted fresh, the eggs were done right, the bacon was crispy as ordered. The service was prompt and very friendly. The place seems to be popular. It was very busy and crowded, and the tables are very close together. If noise is an issue, this is not a place to go. They have tv sets all over, which I personally find irritating, but that is a personal pet peeve of mine. The real issue for me was a large party that came in and sat next to us. They had a large dog with them, which apparently was allowed, and we were sitting indoors. I didn't see a service dog vest on the dog. If the dog wasn't in fact a service dog, this establishment broke a California health code. I hope I am mistaken. I love pets like anyone else, but I believe in limitations. read more

Busy Holiday Brunch with Mixed Results We stopped by Toast Grill around 12:30 PM on a holiday Monday. The place was absolutely packed, which usually is a good sign! Luckily, we were able to get a table for two immediately, but that's where the "speed" ended. The Service & Timing: It took about 15 minutes after being seated for a waiter to check in with us--and that was only after we reminded them we were ready to order. Our food arrived about 20 minutes later, but without silverware. We had to wait another 5 minutes for them to bring some, so our dishes were unfortunately getting cold by the time we could actually eat. The Food: * Crabs Benedict: This was a major disappointment. It was honestly the worst I've had. I couldn't taste the crab meat at all, and both the bread and the hollandaise sauce were lousy and tasteless. I'd recommend skipping this one. * French Skillet Dish: My wife ordered this with country-style potatoes. It was "decent," though it's worth noting they serve it on a regular plate rather than an actual skillet. * Drinks: We ordered a vanilla latte and a pistachio latte. The pistachio latte was served lukewarm initially, but to their credit, the staff was happy to swap it out for a fresh, hot one. Ambiance & Facilities: The overall look and feel of the restaurant are very nice, which explains the crowd. However, the restrooms were underwhelming--specifically, they were quite dirty and only had one urinal, which isn't ideal for a high-volume brunch spot. Final Verdict: We were initially excited because the place looks great, but the actual dining experience was just "okay." We came here for a Sunday lunch, and what a fun place to hang out! The restaurant itself is in the corner of the Pleasanton Gateway Shopping Center, ample spaces in the parking lot. Restaurant was well decorated with a nice festive tree for the holidays. Indoor and outdoor seating are both available. They have a pretty extensive menu. I ordered a soup (clam chowder) and a half sandwich (turkey cranberry), and also fresh squeezed orange juice. I also got a few bites of the Oreo pancake from my partner. Portions were good, and ingredients were fresh, but what I ordered didn't particularly stand out. For my sandwich, I would have liked it more if it was fresh cranberry sauce instead of canned cranberry sauce. And unique bread choices instead of plain white bread, or at least bread that is toasted to prevent sogginess. Soup was a bit thick. The pancake was also ok. Four stars though because we had really good service. Our server was really helpful, patient to explain what was on the menu and answering questions, giving adequate time for us to pick what to order, and checking in frequently to make sure we have our orders and anything else we need. Country potatoes were cooked well, nice even chunks, soft on the inside and slightly crunchy on the outside. Seasoning was fine. Probably would try a different dish next time. I ordered the Toast Omelette ($19.49) with extra crispy hash browns. This was really good! The omelette was a nice size and filled with tender carnitas,sour cream, and asparagus. There's a little bit of spicy bits, perhaps jalapeños. The hash browns were crispy on the outside, and soft on the inside. They did not toast my sourdough bread as requested. I would order this one again. The kids could not decide which pancake they wanted so we got one red velvet and one chocolate chip. Waitress told us these were $6.99 each, however, that was just for the base pancake. She didn't say that there is an additional $2.99 charge for any specialty pancake. The pancakes were very large, but they ended up being $10 each. Grrrrr. The red velvet pancake seemed a little undercooked in the middle. The chocolate chip one did not have the chocolate chips evenly distributed throughout the pancake. Other than that, they were pretty fluffy and the kids enjoyed them. Overall, a clean and nice place for brunch. The food is not super fancy, but everything was fresh and mostly well prepared. Service was a little spotty. Ordered the Popeyes Scramble ($18.49). Everything in the omelette looked, tasted, and felt as if it was cooked from a bag from the frozen aisle. I asked for avocado to be added to the scramble. The waitress confirmed that i wanted the avocado. No avocado in my scramble. Stuff happens, didn't make a big deal out of it. Then the hashbrowns (pic) had what looked like spider legs coming out of it. Again, looked like something that happens when you cook hashbrowns from a frozen bag. My son ordered a cheeseburger and fries. They served him his plate with an inedible French fry. The thing was burnt to a crisp. Again, something that happens when you cook frozen French fries. With prices like this, i expected fresher food. Nonetheless, stuff happens. But serving plates to customers like this at any restaurant is inexcusable especially at a restaurant with these prices. so this visit was a bit disappointing. I've heard there may be new ownership, and things didn't seem as consistent. I ordered the crab benedicts and a mimosa pitcher. The benedicts came on small slices of sourdough with crab and egg, but were very bland and missing the hollandaise sauce, which made the dish feel incomplete. My sister's meal was just okay. Service timing was off -- our food took a while, and I received my sausage before my main plate. Our waiter seemed a bit unsure, which may have contributed to the mix-ups. The mimosa "pitcher" was also not what we expected -- it was more like a bottle served with juice on the side. In my search for brunch we stumbled upon Toast and what a great find. The staff are welcoming, the food is tasty, and despite the many bees at our outdoor table we had a pleasant dining experience. Our server Marco was very nice and friendly. He never did bring my coffee so I took that as a sign, I didn't need it. Our food and mimosa flight came out quickly and we really enjoyed the Fresh Garden Skillet, the Cornbeef Hash Skillet and side waffle (light and airy with the perfect crispiness). I didn't get a headache from the mimosas which is a good sign they didn't use a cheap prosecco (smile). The portions are large enough to share, made with fresh ingredients and the prices didn't break me... that said, will definitely stop in again. read more

Party of 3 for Sunday brunch. Arrived at 1 pm. Sat quickly inside. Alexis our service came over and introduced his self. He was friendly and had lots of recommendations. He is very helpful. The food was delicious. Definitely going back to try more dishes. The Spiked ice latte flight was really good. Not too sweet. Restaurant is cleaned and well kept. I was in the area and wanted a good brunch, it had great yelp reviews so I came by. Service was amazing, it looked pretty busy has both indoor and outdoor sitting. Waited for about 15-20 mins not too bad. I ordered a chelada beer was kinda flat, I ordered a vanilla iced coffee and it was so gross tastes like water down iced milk no caffeine at all, they exchanged it for a regular coffee and the coffee was also bad. Our waiter was attentive and very helpful. I ordered the trainers protein omelette it was very delicious, I also ordered a pancake with had to be the worst cardboard tasting pancake; it was so hard not fluffy at all and tasted blandly. Surprisingly got a table for 3 around 2pm on Father's Day Sunday thanks to the online Yelp waitlist. I thought we arrived pretty late but there were still tables being seated after us so it seems arriving with the later crowd was the perfect move. The banana matcha was delicious but the oat milk substitution being a $3.25 up-charge seemed kinda ridiculous. Otherwise I have no other issue with Toast and would definitely return to try other dishes. Our server Haroon was very attentive and constantly checked on us to make sure we were good. I visited on Friday, Aug. 22 for breakfast to kick off a little weekend getaway with my mom for my birthday. The restaurant is artsy and clean, with plenty of space. We were seated immediately and service was super speedy. I got the smoked salmon "toast" which was basically all of my favorite elements of a smoked salmon bagel, with some egg whites on the side for extra protein. It was definitely a generous amount of food and fed me once for breakfast...and the other half was great a few hours later for a little light car snack! I've become so accustomed to ordering skimpy portioned smoked salmon bagels and this one was refreshingly generous. When our server (I wish I could remember his name because he was outstanding) found out that we were celebrating my birthday, he brought me a little birthday waffle for dessert. It was a really tasty waffle, and I might just have to order a full sized one upon my next visit! I love crispy waffles and this one was perfectly done, with fresh berries and whipped cream on top. Our server Alexis was fabulous! Excellent customer service and great food! It was our first time visiting Toast, we chose this spot due to being a mid point for us meeting. We shared a mimosa flight, 4 flavors served and all were tasty. We both ordered the Montecristo sandwich, sweet potato fries for me, truffle fries for my friend. All of the food that passed by to other tables looks great as well. We both agree it was a great experience and look forward to meeting here again. Stopped by for brunch w a group of friends on a Sunday morning! It was pretty busy, but in a lively way. When we were seated, we got a super friendly server and he really made our experience a lot better. I ordered a California Benedict w hashbrowns and it was delicious! My friends and I also got a mimosa pitcher and it was hilariously mostly champagne (we appreciated that). Overall great experience! Super good service and delicious food.
