We had our wedding party at Mangia Mi and had the best experience from beginning to end. Stephanie treated us like family and was incredibly flexible and accommodating. She met us at our needs for pricing, and we couldn't have found a better deal for a wedding party in such a cute and charming space than we did. The food was absolutely delicious (all our guests commented on it) and the staff were incredible. Mangia Mi will always be a special place to us and I would not hesitate to have a private party there again. My wife and I, and our families will be regulars from now on. The ambiance is really good. I love the little house and the porch/patio tables. The food was also good Italian. I ordered the crab cakes as the appetizer and they were delicious but the were quite thin and I would have preferred thicker. The chicken parm was good and I would have it again. Wife had the rigatoni ala carbonara and it was good but perhaps a little too creamy for my taste. The service was slow. It had been a while since we visited this restaurant. We sat outside and the weather was great. Gustavo, our server, could not have been more attentive and welcoming. I had detested service charges for split plates, but I was pleasantly surprised by the portions on the Italian salad and eggplant Parmesan. They were more than ample and we even took some home. My husband and I had dinner here after a day at the Hot Springs. We made reservations online and planned to have dinner here due to the deal running on the InKind app. It was hard to choose what to eat as everything on my new looked delicious. We did think that most of the dishes were overpriced. We live in Marin County and still found this to be quite expensive for Italian food with a very casual ambience. However, everything we ordered was fantastic. My favorite was the peach and burrata salad, which was seasonal. The owner said she buys fresh ingredients at the farmers market each week. I would recommend dinner here if you were not on a budget and also if you are OK with smaller portions for Italian food. My family just had an 80th birthday dinner for my mother at Mangia Mi and it was such an amazing experience. We had our dinner at their cottage event space which was just beautiful and perfect for our event. The restaurant itself is just as pretty! I also can't say enough about the delicious food- I tried many options as we all got different items- and everything was amazing! Especially loved the Rigatoni Alla Carbonara! The best part of the whole experience was the warm and exceptional service from both the owner, Peter, and our waitress Stephanie!! Very grateful to both as it helped make the event very special. We recently moved to Danville and we have been trying restaurants in the downtown area. Mangia Mi is amazing!! The patio is so cute and quaint. Our server Stephanie was excellent. I had the corn and asparagus risotto and I've never had better. I order risotto quite often at restaurants and I can honestly say the risotto tonight was the best. **Lengthy review** Mangia Mi had recently catered a wedding that my husband and I attended. Everything we tried that day was so delicious that I thought it would be a great idea to make a reservation for a small birthday dinner for my mother. Unfortunately things did not turn out as I had hoped. We had a party of 6 reserved on a Friday evening at 6pm. I wasn't familiar with the setup and we entered through the cottage/bar entrance but were promptly greeted and found a good spot outside. Once we got settled in we started with drinks and appetizers. Not alot of non-alcoholic drink options so we decided on a couple of lemonades, 1 mixed drink and a beer, 2 orders of the bruschetta (3 pieces per order) and the button stuffed mushroom appetizers so each person could try at least 1 mushroom. Shortly after we put in our dinner order: 5, 1/2 salads, Seafood Pasta, Spaghetti with meatballs, Chicken Marsala, Short rib with mashed potatoes and 2 of their dinner specials, Blackened Salmon with Asparagus and mashed potatoes. The alcoholic drinks were fine but the lemonades had the "artificial" taste to them. I knew they weren't going to be fresh-squeezed but the taste was just off and I didn't feel inclined to finish it. The bruschetta was delicious, nicely toasted however since we only got 1 per person, not sure if the $5+ per small slice was justified. I was really looking forward to the stuffed mushrooms.... unfortunately 5 out of the 6 tiny pieces (.5 - 1" button size) came out charred! So disappointed because I knew they were good but were definitely overdone. About 20 mins later, 4 out of 5 salads came out. The appetizers and salads had been brought out by the busser/food runner so I didnt immediately say anything about 1 salad missing thinking our server would check in soon. Unfortunately another 15 mins or so went by so I let the busser know that we were missing a salad. Romaine and bacon salads were good as well as the beet salads. A few minutes later the server came by and let me know that they were working on the salad which would come out shortly.... Entrees arrived at the same time as my salad so my food, which was already lukewarm, was cold by the time I began eating. I had ordered the Blackened Salmon, which tasted a bit dry. This can usually improve if the sides are good but this was not the case. The Salmon was served atop dry asparagus. The mashed potatoes on the side were blended with something green (broccoli or spinach perhaps), they were not creamy and did not add a flavorful side to the salmon. Disappointed for the price and as it was their "Special of the Day". The chicken marsala lacked the flavorful taste of Marsala sauce and was served atop mashed potatoes but had so much liquid/sauce that it literally looked like a runny potatoe soup. The Spaghetti, Short Rib (with regular mashed potatoes) and Seafood Pasta were the favorites with the Seafood Pasta being the best as it was flavorful and a good size portion for $40. The server checked in towards the end and asked if we were interested in dessert but at that point we were pretty much wrapping up. I had looked over their menus earlier and they did not list dessert options so I made other plans after dinner but it would have been nice to know ahead of time if there were dessert options available. At the end the server comped the salad because it had taken so long to come out. I appreciated the gesture but not sure we will be back. On special occasions I dont mind spending a bit more for a great dinner, unfortunately the lackluster service and food didnt make for a great experience. read more

I dined here with my mom last Friday night. Despite it being the weekend, there was virtually no wait around 6:30 PM, a pleasant surprise, and the hostess led us to our table almost immediately. Soon after getting seated, our waiter welcomed us with a complimentary bread basket, cups, and a bottle of water. I use the house bread as a litmus test for the quality of an Italian restaurant, and Mangia Mi's is pretty damn good. It's a baguette which comes warm, moist, and crusty: the holy trinity of baguette traits. To share, we had the spinach and butternut squash salad, the seared scallops, and the pasta con vongole. With all due candor, skip the butternut squash salad. The bacon bits came out a tad too burnt making it almost too brittle and difficult to chew. The butternut squash also had a weird marinade rendering it cloyingly sweet and masking its natural sweetness. The main dishes were pretty decent on the other hand. The pasta con vongole, immersed in a white wine sauce, was potent in garlic flavor yet a tad too salty than what I would have preferred. The seared scallops were served on a bed of risotto with corn kernels adorning the top. The corn kernels were an odd addition, adding a needless sweetness to an otherwise savory dish. Overall, Mangia Mi was pretty good! Definitely a solid Italian spot for the Danville area. read more

I'm loathe to give local businesses bad reviews but tonight was just not good. Our server was Stephanie and she simply disappeared most of the meal. Had to flag her down twice. Never checked on us after food was delivered. One of the most neglectful servers I've had. I have no idea how many tables she had but it was very quiet in the main dining area. To the food. Split Chicken Marsala. Sauce was good but thin. Chicken was a little tough. Had the prawns scampi and it was ok, but very thin sauce as well. Looked like a bowl of soup after eating it. My family and I had a reasonable meal at Mangia Mi that was unfortunately marred by a pretty subpar experience. We walked in on a Friday evening and figured we'd try our luck without a reservation for a party of five. We felt quite lucky when we were actually able to be seated within a few minutes! They told us we would be seated in their "cottage" area... Unfortunately, this small room was clearly not originally intended to be used as a dining area, as it is very echoey. We were seated next to a loud family and the acoustics of the room made it extremely difficult to simply hold a conversation amongst ourselves. It also lacked any of the ambience of the rest of the restaurant (excessively brightly lit), and our table was right next to the restroom, which was... less than ideal. It took almost 15 minutes for our waiter to get to us (we thought they'd forgotten we'd been seated here). We ordered blood orange and pomegranate martinis, which were pretty tasty. They also brought out bread and dipping oil, which helped satiate us until our entrees. We ordered the rigatoni alla carbonara, lasagna di carne, and the gnocchi gorgonzola. All three entrees were pretty tasty (the lasagna was probably my favorite), and the portion sizes were ideal. The gnocchi was a little overly chewy, but still good. However, I would also be remiss if I didn't mention that a couple of us felt a bit queasy and unsettled when we got back home... The prices are a bit steep, particularly given the middling quality of the food and service. Overall, while the food is pretty decent, the inconsistency of the service, quality of the seating/ambience, and steep prices made this just an average dining experience. I might return if I have a strong craving for Italian, but I'd love to see some of these other issues addressed to elevate the experience. read more

My family & I managed to get a reservation here for Mother's Day & the place was very busy! We got a seat out on the patio, & the weather was perfect. To start, we ordered the bruschetta: Oven-Roasted Red Tomatoes, Balsamic Vinaigrette, Pecorino Romano, Basil, Grilled Bread. That was essentially gobbled up in no time because it tasted so good! My aunt & I then ordered two dishes to split: the heirloom tomato & burrata caprese & the Funghi pizza. The pizza came with Maitake, Oyster and Crimini Mushrooms, Mozzarella, Parmesan, Caramelized Onions, Truffle Oil. Both dishes were full of flavor & absolutely delicious. My parents ordered the Lasagne di Carne, Fresh Pasta Sheets, Bolognese Sauce, Béchamel, Mozzarella, Parmesan, as well as the Rigatoni all made Carbonara, Parmesan Cream Sauce, Pancetta, Applewood-Smoked Bacon, English Peas, Pecorino Romano. This is one of my favorite Italian restaurants in the entire Bay Area. Really my favorite - and what got me so excited initially with this restaurant - is the apricot and Sage gnocchi... they haven't offered it in a couple years, but I'm still optimistic. It's worth bringing back! In general, the quality of their pasta is on the higher end, though - so you can't go too wrong. It had been years since our last visit and before that probably another several years but I couldn't understand why we never went back because I had fond memories of our previous two visits. On this night we did an "early bird dinner" and it was a bit of a bust. I wondered if I was at the Olive Garden when the 10 kids and 8 adult party showed up but it was impressive that they were able to seat them. I thought it was odd when they moved our table out into the isle when the place had other empties but I heard someone say they were short on 2 tops. It felt like the party of 18 didn't have a reservation because when they arrived they started moving tables again. The kids were not bad kids, just kids being kids, it just wasn't the vibe we were looking for. If we return I will eat at the house up front with the bar vs. the main dining room and go later. I had the Rigatoni Alla Carbonara which was OK but no where close to my favorite Carbonara in WC. Here the peas stood out too much and not in a good way. Hubby had the Italian Jambalaya Pasta but what was up with the artichoke hearts, they don't belong in Jambalaya. Other than that it tasted pretty good the next day for breakfast. It was my first time at Mangia Mi and I was pleasantly surprised by how cute the restaurant was. It literally feels like you're inside of someone's home. They have a front porch with a few seats outside. My group and I sat inside at their private room which had a cozy dining table. I ordered the Short Rib Ravioli al Forno, but it was extremely salty for me and covered in cheese. The portion was quite large, but I probably won't order this dish again. If you want an amazing local spot look no further than going here. Though it might look small there is plenty of seating for any size party and rooms to have private parties or small events. What I love most is the bar area where you can observe the Executive Chef, Antonio, cook along side his other chefs. Fall, Winter, Spring, or Summer there is always items on the menu that cater to the seasons and Antonio does a phenomenal job in executing each dish. We started with the appetizer of steamed clams and we loved it!! There wasn't a grainy or salty taste to them and they were seasoned and cooked to perfection. Then we each had a different entree. I had the Spring Fettuccine and my mom had the Summer Risotto. Both had such amazing flavors and were different than what we normally would get. You must save room for dessert!!! Their Butter Cake is made in house everyday and served with the best gelato. Please visit this cute little taste of Italy!! You won't regret trying anything on this menu. We recently used Mangia Mi to hold my daughter's 18th birthday dinner with her friends. Stephanie was easy to work with and super accommodating. She was easy to work with and flexible with some last minute changes (letting the girls individually order instead of doing a family style dinner with a prefixed menu). We were in the cottage and the girls were in the room. We were able to sit at the bar and have dinner while the girls dined alone. First time here. This is a cute intimate Italian restaurant. Best to make reservations as the place fills up fast in the primary part of the restaurant. We had reservations at 5pm on a Saturday night to celebrate a birthday party. Half of our guest were 15 min late, but they were kind enough to sit the ones that were there on time. LOVE THIS PLACE! I'm an Italian au pair currently living in the States and tonight I came here to have dinner with my host family. First time having dinner out since I got here. I couldn't have had better night. I had Gnocchi al Gorgonzola and gosh, those were delicious, almost tasted like home if it wasn't for the parmesan cause there was too much but I LOVED them! Then I fell in love with the Buttercream Cake with Vanilla Ice Cream on top. The kids didn't eat everything so we bought the leftovers home! Little short staffed (but it was Monday so I don't think they were expecting the party of 16 people that showed up at the same time of our reservation), we had to wait for the server a few times. -Ambience. I would say the restaurant has room for improvement here. But over all the patio was my favorite area. My wife, daughter and I ate here for the first time tonight and were impressed. We split an heirloom tomato and burrata caprese salad that was good. I had the lasagna, which was excellent. My wife had the carbonara, which both she and my daughter loved. My daughter had the gnocchi, which I did not try but my wife said tasted fresh and fluffy. The service was attentive. The owner is Italian himself, so you know the menu is filled with traditional Italian flavors. It is a whole in the wall restaurant, smaller, but very lively. The menu can be pricey depending on your order. My family has had banquets and Christmas parties here too. The owner is super super friendly and very helpful and thoughtful too! Helpful tip!!!
