Potato Crusted Halibut (4 stars) - crispy outside, moist inside. The lemon picatta sauce is nice.
Daniel C.

Review is for Doordash takeout: We've been making good use of the Dashpass quite a bit over the past few months. Since it was July 3 weekend, I was up for trying a new, meat-centric place. Xenia Bistro seems to have a pretty broad and intriguing menu, and its in Alamo which isn't too far from me. The Pork Chop with brandy-apple chutney turned out pretty good. Thick, boneless, yet still fairly juicy. I liked the generous helping of veggies and mashed potatoes. The potato-crusted Halibut was basically like a hash brown baked into a large, thick piece of fish. Cooked perfectly and not too dry. Its really easy to overcook halibut, especially with 30+ min of delivery. They also provides lots of lemon-picatta sauce to spiff up the fish. Only downsides of the Doordash menu is that they don't seem to have desserts! Anyways, a decent 4-star takeout place in my view with an interesting menu. I saw pasta, paella(!), short ribs, and even chicken cordon bleu.

Everytime I come I'm very happy with the taste. Today I ordered the chipotle honey shrimp and beet salad. I was shocked at how robust in flavor the sauce and shrimp was. The beet salad was also good, note: if you love goat cheese you'll love this. Would you like some beets and salad with that goat cheese?...would be how I would describe the beet salad. Yes I would order them again. Thank you for being so good.

This is what our table looked like after we paid our bill. Apparently they don't pick up dirty dishes here.

We're new to the area and are making it a point to try all the restaurants in Alamo before we venture to WC and Danville. glad we tried it so we can remove it from the list. We aren't coming back ever again. The food was pretty bad, very bland and the ingredients seemed to be low quality. The service could have been ok because she was nice so there was potential. But she left our table full of dirty appetizer plates when she brought out the dinner. I asked for more bread and when she brought it she simply put the new basket on top of the basket that was already there and still ignored the pile of plates in the middle of the table. When we were done with dinner we actually paid our bill with dirty dinner dishes on the table, oh and appetizer plates were still there. It was a Monday night with 4 tables total, so being busy wasn't the issue here. Food * Service *** Atmosphere **

A voucher for $25 off a meal. The meal was over $100. Pressed " use gift card" many times. The restaurant said the code was all they needed.

I've eaten here before but many years ago, and it was pricey but good. Read the other negative reviews. This time, the food was bland and tasteless. Portion size was OK Pork chop was tough and not marinated. Paella was tasteless and was supposed to be saffron rice but tasteless and no yellow color. Halibut was overcooked with a bad hash brown potato coating. We said we were splitting the dishes, no extra plates brought to split, despite request. Before I entered, I asked if they accepted a $25 coupon that I was going to use. They said yes. I asked them to look at it to make sure it was good- they said they didn't have to until after dinner. If they had told me they didn't accept the card or it was invalid, I would not have eaten there. After dinner, I showed them the coupon with a code number. They said that's all you need. Then they came back and said the code didn't work. I said I expected them to take the $25 off the bill. They refused. They refused to let me talk with the owner. They threatened to call the police. This is the rudest and worst restaurant experience I ever had. I will never return. We paid the bill in full ( over $100) and tipped. Even the business card is wrong. Says their hours are to 9pm- the latest is 830.

Cheesecake Pancakes - those two pancakes are child sized portions
Christina L.

I hate giving an average score. I like tipping the scale when rating places ...when it's justified. Unfortunately, this place is just average and below avg given that they're charging so much for their food. See pics below. Do you think either dish is worth $12? - The omelette was overcooked. - The hash browns were from who knows where, but I know I can make better. - The pancakes were the smallest I've ever seen. - One measly egg Sunnyside Omelette ordered wasn't even under the omelette section of the menu and no one could tell me if it was an actual omelette. Odd comment, but it's not labeled an omelette on the menu. I wouldn't paid $7-8/dish, which is exactly what happened since I had a Living Social.

Interior is interesting, it's like you're dining at someone's home? Street parking or there are lots nearby with the first hours or so free. Service was good  The Valentines prix consisted of an app, entree, and dessert, some of which are not on their regular menu!!  -bread and marinara (4/5): bread was great, thick slices and nice crust. Marinara was standard -potato-leek puree (4/5): came in a cute little cup to drink out of, good flavor -gamberoni (5/5): prawns were a good size and perfectly grilled. The sauce was a good addition -polette (4/5): meatballs were juicy and the pesto was flavorful and creamy. Interesting thing to have as an appetizer though -fettuccini carne (5/5): I always have an internal struggle about getting a red sauce or a cream sauce, so this was the perfect option as a creamy red sauce pasta. Serving size was good, and there was also plenty of meat and mushrooms, which I loved! Flavor was great! -lamp chop (4/5): good grilled flavor, but one was slightly too raw for our liking so we had to send it back to the kitchen to cook it some more. Our waitress was very understanding though! The mashed potatoes and veggies were also good. -tiramisu (3.5/5): good flavor, but there was wayyy more cream than ladyfinger, so the textural balance was off. And I love cream! -peanut butter chocolate brownie (4/5): really good but also pretty sweet. Loved how thick the whipped cream was, but didn't taste as much peanut butter as I would've liked Overall, I had a great experience for their valentines day prix menu. Food was great and I would definitely go back to try their pasta!

The cauliflower was definitely a highlight -- that turmeric cream sauce is pretty divine. Our pastas (capellini rústico and salmon fettuccini) were excellent, the pesto dipping sauce for the artichoke was perfect, desserts (chocolate-orange cake, and caramel walnut gelato topped with honey and olive oil) were both so delectable, we couldn't decide which we liked more. The cannellini beans were not as savory as I'd hoped based on others' reviews -- maybe I thought they'd be in a red sauce? -- but they were still a nice, earthy balance to our richer dishes. The Caesar Salad was simple but exactly what we needed -- light, refreshing, crunchy. The wine was wonderful, and the service spectacular. So glad we finally tried this place!

I chose to celebrate this special moment with my wife and my daughter at Melo's in Walnut Creek, and I will never forget how they treated us. From the moment we walked in, the staff went above and beyond. The service was not just professional--it was genuinely kind, warm, and full of heart. They made us feel like family. What truly touched me is that they refused to charge us for our meal. In a world where everything is business, this level of generosity and humanity is rare. It wasn't just about the food (which was amazing, by the way), it was about the way they made us feel on a day that means everything to me. To the entire team at Melo's: thank you for making our wedding day even more special. You didn't just serve us food--you gave us a memory we will carry for the rest of our lives. We were promptly greeted by our server, Jess, who was "wonderful and lovely" as described by one member of our party. She gave us a quick review of off-menu specials and recommended we order before a party of 20 fully arrived. We didn't feel rushed and appreciated her looking out for us. The pace of our dinner moved along exactly as expected. Service (Jess, et al) is friendly, professional and timely. Members of the service staff moved in and out efficiently to refill water, remove plates and keep our table uncluttered. The dining room is busy and loud (or maybe we're old), so there was quite a bit of "what did you say" in our conversations, but it did not diminish the experience. The wine list provides a great selection to complement the menu without breaking the bank. Menu prices are in line with what we see these days - and the large portions make dining here a great value. Our table ordered Pollo Scallopini, Vitello (veal) Scallopini, Melanzane (eggplant) Parmigiana, and the off-menu special Salmon Piccata. Everything was excellent. The veal was a big hit with the table. Strongly recommend making a reservation. Looks like they do a good job with larger parties without impacting smaller tables and couples. The chop was pounded thin and had a crispy texture to it (yum). It was covered in demi-glace and mushrooms, just delicious. Overall, great experience. Highly recommend.

I enjoyed the atmosphere, and decor, however I wasn't a fan of how they played nightclub/dancing music- which made it all that much louder and difficult to talk. I will also say that the service was very good- considering that it was very crowded at the time, however I had an odd experience with a hostess. I made a reservation in advance to celebrate my mom's birthday- when my family arrived, we were quite literally ignored by the hostess for about 10 minutes. She looked at us, and said "I will be right with you", only to come back 7 more times and ignore us again. She then made us wait 20 minutes into our reservation because another table wasn't finished with their meal. I initially didn't think anything of it (after all, it was a busy night)- until another group of white women who had made a reservation were immediately attended to by this hostess, and were given a table at a significantly better lit area. My indian family was made to sit at the corner of the restaurant, by the bathrooms. However I want to keep in mind that maybe it was a bad day, and the rest of the staff were very polite to us.
